Mixed items: chow mein, fried green beans, fried rice, broccoli, pork chop, teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, fried shrimp in mayonnaise

I have been to this Mongolian BBQ several times now and the food has been consistently good here. They have your choice of made-to-order Mongolian BBQ where you select raw ingredients to be cooked over their grill. They also have self-serve hot scoop food. All are price is at $7.39/lb. You can do either or both. I usually do both. The green beans and chow mein are always a favorite.

When life gets you down you can always count on your comfort foods to get you through it. For me Mongolian BBQ has always been one of those comfort foods. There's something about the mix of meats, veggies, sauces, and spices that gives me that sense of control when the world outside seems beyond my control. And Sun's has a good selection of what I'm looking for in my entrees when I gather my ingredients together. They may not have lamb like New China, but they do have crab sticks in addition to the usual shrimp, beef, pork, and chicken. And the veggie selection was quite robust with both jalapeño and green peppers, as well as cilantro. My plate turned out amazing. The service was definitely more friendly compared to New China, where normally I go. The counter person and grill jockey just seemed friendly and helpful when I interacted with them, including letting me know about the one refill policy upfront when they could've charged me more if I had gotten a second one due to not asking. The space was okay. It was laid out a little weird for me with the bbq space and the Chinese food space bisecting the dining room almost in half. But it was alright. They had tables aplenty and the tables and general look of the restaurant were very clean and inviting. I think I may have found a new regular spot for my Mongolian BBQ needs.

1st Time here. I got Chinese food, wife got Mongolian BBQ. Hope she knows we are sharing :)

We lost of our fav Mongolian BBQ years ago [it was in Duarte] but this place is pretty damn close. You pay by the pound and my wife's plate was about 1.1/2 pounds. We shared that and some Chinese food I got just to try [under a pound] and we took some of her BBQ home. Place has a lot of options. Is very clean and we definitely plan to come back. The owner/manager was very friendly and the service was great.

The food is always good. I can have it for lunch and dinner the next day just the only thing is I really don't like the paper packaging. It soaks all the juice. It falls apart by the time I get home and I have to put it in bowls so that I can eat properly.

This is a really good spot, very clean and the food is tasty! We got to build our own plates and I love all the options they offer.

This was my first time being here and I love and appreciate the self serve Chinese food area where they also charge your plate based on the weight of your food! I love that there's another section just for your Mongolian food as well. This is a great spot for family. & friends to chat, reset, and grub on tasty comfort food!

The plain but clean restaurant.

This place is amazing! They have both Mongolian barbecue and a hot buffet. The food is always fresh and delicious and here is the catch. It is sold by the pound. I think it is only $7.50 per pound! I wanted a small meal but didn't want to go the fast food route so I stopped in here. I got a little of all of my favorites: honey shrimp, pepper chicken, kung Pao chicken, poached fish, green beans, spare ribs and their delicious sesame ball. ALL OF THIS cost $6.82!!!! I took a picture. Now, obviously if you pile a lot of food on the plate it will cost more. My husband and I have been here several times. Don't expect ambiance. The containers are styrofoam and the decor is austere at best. Today it was just what I needed at an amazing price!

What a gem! I've been here a couple times and the food has always been fresh with refills constantly coming out! There's a section of pre-made Chinese food and a section of Mongolian ingredients that they will cook for you. Since the Chinese food looked so good I just got that. Pricing is quite affordable considering prices these days. Very happy and will definitely come back! Showed my family and my friends. Clean environment and owners are pleasant.

Me and the BF were out and about running errands today and were getting hungry so we stopped at this spot. This place is a hidden gem! Food was fresh, place was clean and all reasonably priced (it's $7.39 lb). The cashier was very kind and explained things well.

Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo-doo Here comes the sun, and I say It's alright Very tasty food! My wife and kids love the noodles and the veggies. The meat was nice and tender my daughter put almost all of it on her plate. My son was all about the little corns. We weren't sure what to do when we walked in and a gentleman came behind the counter to guide us. You can build your own bowl and take it to the counter to get cooked in front of you. Or you can also choose from cooked ready to eat buffet style. There is a lot of tables to sit and enjoy. Although we took our food to go after an evening at the park. I asked for some hot sauce to go on the side because my kids aren't ready for the amount I put on top. One bowl is good to share, unless you are really hungry. Plenty of parking available. This spot is sure to add a little sun to your day.

Ima still a big fan of this place. The food is always prepared perfectly, the choices are plenty, customer service is always good and formerly and the prices are very affordable. It is no wonder that this place is so popular Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and are hungry.

I found myself in West Covina for work and, feeling the hunger pangs, I turned to Yelp and noticed that Sun's Mongolian had recently opened. I've been craving some quality Mongolian BBQ but usually steer clear of the mall spots, so this seemed like the perfect alternative. Sun's has a unique setup with two buffet aisles--one offering Chinese fast food and the other stocked with raw ingredients for the Mongolian BBQ. I opted for the BBQ, assembling a bowl with noodles and a mix of veggies and meats. What's interesting is that they handle the saucing as they cook your food, so you don't have to worry about doing it yourself. Once cooked, you bring your plate to the cashier, and it's weighed at $7.39 per pound. Not a bad deal to be honest. The Mongolian BBQ really hit the spot, especially after tossing in some pineapple. If you're in the area and in the mood for something quick and inexpensive Sun's is definitely worth a visit.

Not your ordinary Mongolian BBQ! This place offers everything by the pound, like a buffet style. They have Chinese style food on one side and the Mongolian bbq on the other side. First grab a take out box and put as much food as you would like and they will weight it at the cashier. For the Mongolian side, same concept but you put as much as you like in the bowl they provide (feel free to use more than one) and take it to the chef to cook and put it in the box for you. The place is roomy, mainly self serve and pay before you eat. They have a few tables for dine in as well. Love this concept and you get so much food for the price!

I think the intent is so you order fast and don't linger. Not a negative for me since my family usually is pretty quick about eating and going. They are also pretty good with customizing their ingredients. My wife is gluten free so we would ask that they not add in soy sauce or oyster sauce in some of the dishes that we know can still work without those two ingredients. You would need to know how to customize it yourself as I don't think they would know what to do if you simply say no gluten. Overall, I really don't have anything negative to say about this place. However, if you order To-Go, the process is very EASY and smooth. On a weekday, I ordered the Crab Roe & Pork Xiao Long Bao ($15 - 8 Pieces), Fish & Coriander Dumplings ($14 - 8 Pieces), Shanghai Shrimp and Pork Wonton ($15), and Crab Meat Egg White Soup ($15) on the phone for To-Go. The lady on the phone spoke fluent English, and she spoke with an upbeat and cheerful personality. My food was ready for pickup in 30 minutes. Concerning parking, it's not too bad. Parking is available but competitive. The location has many cars searching for spots since this plaza includes the popular 85 degrees bakery. When I'd arrived that Monday, there was already a HUGE line of people waiting for Dine-In. I just walked in to approach the counter. Staff requested my phone number for pickup, and Staff moved very efficient and business-like. Regarding the food, it was DIVINE. The flavors and textures were impeccable. I happily feasted. The dumplings, wontons, and xia long bao all had the springy, sought-for texture. And each piece was STUFFED with fresh ingredients. SO TASTY! And the Crab Meat soup overflowed with crab and hot liquid which left me satisfied and full. I felt so happy... Overall, Thumbling (West Covina) continues to be a must-try if in the area. The food is very authentic, affordable, and delicious. Personally, I'd only order for To-Go since the crowds are a bit intense, but Thumbling (West Covina) deserves all the love. 5 out of 5. The minced chicken lettuce wraps were fresh and super flavorful, and the egg drop soup was pure comfort in a bowl and came out piping hot. The absolute standout was definitely the deep fried fish fillet. The batter was super light and airy, and the fish inside was perfectly flaky and tender. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience. Do not waste your time or money here…read more The moment we walked into Fu's Restaurant, it felt like stepping into a sauna. It was 79 degrees inside, muggy, humid, and completely uncomfortable. We almost turned around and left immediately. The place was practically empty, which honestly should have been our first red flag. We decided to give them a chance anyway. Big mistake. My colleague and I were offered water or hot tea. We both ordered hot tea. The menu clearly says in English that hot tea is $2.99. Nowhere does it clearly explain in English that you will be charged differently depending on how many people drink it. When the bill came, we were charged $5 each. Apparently, there is some clarification written in Chinese, but how are customers who do not read Chinese supposed to know that? That is completely misleading. The tea portions were not larger, not special, nothing different. Just basic tea. The pricing felt deceptive. We also ordered popcorn chicken and chili wonton soup. Both came out in tiny portions that looked like appetizers, yet the menu does not clearly label them as such. For what we received, paying over $30 total felt ridiculous. The food itself was mediocre at best. Nothing memorable and definitely not worth the price. Because of the uncomfortable temperature, confusing pricing, small portions, and average food, we chose not to leave a tip. As we were walking out, the waiter chased us outside and pressured us about the zero tip. That is completely inappropriate. Tipping is not mandatory. It is earned. Confronting customers outside over a tip is unprofessional and embarrassing. Between the heat, the questionable menu pricing, the small portions, and being confronted outside, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. We will never be back.
