Really Really good burgers, and a setting that brings me back to the 80's.... It's up to you to decide if that's good or not. I saw this place on a TikTok, listed as one of the best burgers in Maryland, so I took note. When I was in the area, I stopped in, and was not disappointed. The service was friendly and straightforward. Don't expect any fancy ingredients, it's just the basics, and I'm just fine with that.

A hidden gem with the best burgers!! The ingredients here are the best making this one of the best burgers in the area. Skip the big restaurants and pro es, this burger is under $15 and will satisfy all cravings. Most people order for pick up. There is a small table and diner style bar to eat in. The best quality is what keeps this little spot open and busy. Worth the drive!

I had high expectations of Sunshine given the stellar reviews of being known as the best burgers in MoCo, but was surprised and disappointed. The burgers are a single patty, large in size, and cost around $10 each, but were tasteless. The meat was not seasoned at all. Some of the reviews started the burgers can be overly salted, but I would have loved some salt. The only taste the burger had was the ketchup and mustard. The tomatoes, lettuce, and bun at least seemed fresh. What I found odd was when the employee taking the order was using a mirror when speaking to customers rather than turning around to take the order. Perhaps there was a reason for this, but I didn't ask. The store itself is dingy, dirty, and unappealing. But somehow this place is still popular!

I eat a lot of burgers (as Yelp has pointed out to me) & the Sunshine Burger is truly a champion! A king among kings! 1st the beef is juicy w a perfect char around the edges. Juicy but not that it drips all down your hand. Probably a good 8oz patty. My husband said his bacon cheeseburger was the best he's ever had. The best! Why? He said the bacon was perfectly cooked & was in every bite including the last. The super nice ladies will cook your Sunshine burger exactly as you like it - perfection on a bun. Please note they can get pretty busy sometimes so it's possible to order your burger or sandwich ahead. Speaking of sandwiches- the BLT the lady got looked amazing! Take a trip out to Sunshine & get super awesome lunch!

Why has it taken me this long to write a review, I'm not sure. We were visiting family in MD and we stopped in for a very quick breakfast because we were short on time. I also want to apologize for only a few pics as we were in a rush! We decided to share the Fried Chicken and Waffles, and the Veggie Omelette! The fried chicken was very good - the thick slice of chicken breast was tender and juicy . The Silver Diner puts its chicken in pickle juice, vinegar and spices for 24 hours. The fried coating was crispy and had a nice crunch. Have I had better fried chicken, of course, but this was good. The Waffle was light and fluffy - it tasted good. With some syrup, the combo was a winner! The Veggie Omelette wasn't as good as I'd expected. I usually tell the server to have the omelette cooked in butter (versus oil used by most kitchens), but forget. I believe using butter can radically improve the flavor of the egg; whereas oil has no flavor. The omelette had little flavor - the vegetables (onions, mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes) were 'okay', but needed to be sautéed longer. The potatoes tasted good - they had a little exterior crisp , but a nice soft texture. The biscuit was very good - it was golden brown with flaky tender layers inside. We layered it with butter! It's hard to believe I've been going to the Silver Diner for 37 years! I'll definitely be back!

We ended up staying for like 2-3 hours talking as the restaurant started to wind down, and they let us sit and chat while we watched the parking wars outside. MY biggest con is the parking. It is annoying that Sardi's catering occupies 30-40% of the lot. There is a fast turnaround, so my friends and I literally sat and waited to catch someone leaving before parking, rather than driving in circles. There is a hotel next door with ample signs that it's for guests only and that you will be towed; however, I still saw people do it and then watch their cars from the window lol. I think this did put a bad stain on my experience bc it took me about 20 minutes to get parking.

Unfortunately, when I received my food and took a bite, a hot, completely runny egg came oozing out of the sandwich and all over me, completely ruining my shirt and pants. I was understandably upset. What made the situation even worse was that multiple waitresses watched it happen and continued working without offering me a napkin, towel, or anything to help clean myself up. I was literally standing there with egg yolk running down my shirt and pants because my order was prepared incorrectly. Eventually, my husband and I had to flag someone down--we weren't even sure if he was a server or the manager. He came over and said he would comp the meal. I explained that we were there for a soccer tournament and that I would now have to go out and purchase an entirely new outfit for the rest of the day because of their mistake. We then sat there for 20 minutes, watching employees walk past us repeatedly without checking on us. I finally went to the register and expressed how upset I was. The gentleman there said he would charge us for my husband's and son's meals and comp mine. Of course, my meal was being comped--it was sent back because it was prepared incorrectly in the first place. We then waited another 20 minutes without a bill. Again, employees continued walking past us and completely ignored us. This restaurant is tiny--practically the size of a closet--so I honestly don't understand how we could be overlooked for that long. At that point, I told my husband, "Let's just get up and leave. I guarantee THAT will get someone's attention." Sure enough, the second we walked out the door, the big guy came running after us, yelling at my husband and me. I explained how long we had been sitting there, how rude and dismissive the service was, and how much of our time had been wasted. Apparently, walking out the door was the only way to finally get someone's attention. Mistakes happen. Eggs can be cooked incorrectly. What matters is how you treat your customers when something goes wrong. In this case, the customer service was absolutely unacceptable from start to finish. We are in town for a soccer tournament and had better things to do than spend nearly an hour sitting around being ignored after having our clothing ruined by an improperly prepared meal. Spare yourself the trip. The customer service here was HORRIBLE. BTW my outfit cost more than a comped meal!!!! And a hour of wasted time waiting for our bill!!! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE ZERO STARS if that were an option.

For example, yesterday, I had their Peter's Special, a sandwich made from 1/2 lb of pastrami and 1/2 lb of corned beef. Except that it's not "a" sandwich, but three, all on delicious rye bread, each with its own pickle, and a small helping of slaw, sauerkraut, and a major pile of salad. It was my lunch yesterday; the remaining two sandwiches are my lunch today and tomorrow. That's three meals for $30, which, to me, is a reasonable price. The problem was that the more they do to create the food, the less flavorful it is. For example, on another recent visit, I had their Country Style Omelet. Again, it was huge and contained everything that goes into a great omelet. Except, there wasn't a lot of flavor. And that seems to be the theme. I grabbed a slice of their 24-layer cake and, again, big but not much taste beyond sweetness. If you crave a lot of food, then this might be the spot for you. However, if you prefer less and more, smaller portions with better, more nuanced flavor, then maybe try one of the other nearby restaurants.
