I really liked all the Asian art throughout the restaurant, and the different currencies displayed on the wall near the cash register were such a cool touch. It definitely gives the place a unique atmosphere. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the food. I'm not picky when it comes to food, but I was a little disappointed with some of the options. A few of the dishes just didn't look very appetizing to me, so there were definitely things I ended up passing on. The desserts were probably my favorite part. The chocolate covered cheesecake was absolutely delicious and definitely worth trying. First time trying this buffet, and honestly, I came for the food and stayed for the fried crabs! The herbs and spices were on point, and the server was super kind enough to bring me extra chopped garlic and vinegar for dipping as I requested. That little touch made the crabs even better. The fresh, hot wonton soup was another favorite, perfect for warming up between plates. The buffet was refilled pretty well, so there was always something coming out. I also enjoyed the watermelon and cheesecake for dessert. Now, not everything was perfect. Some dishes were a little bland and greasy, and unfortunately, the sushi was way too cold almost like it had just come out of the freezer. Definitely not my favorite part. But for the price, it's affordable and gives you plenty of options to nibble, sample, and discover different Chinese dishes without breaking the bank. Would I come back? Stopped here while in town with my family. It was Sunday evening and we were immediately sat. Service was friendly, and all staff was constantly working hard. From cleaning to fetching drinks, they were very attentive. There was a surprisingly large amount of food to choose from: so many different varieties of appetizers, entrees, seafood, fruit, and dessert. Everything tasted well. Even with a full restaurant, staff was making sure food was filled. It can get a little cramped if full, especially depending on where you are sitting. It's for sure not a 5 stars buffet. But is it 1 or 2 stars? Heck no. 3 stars? Slightly better yes. 4? Not quite. 3.5-3.8 stars is where it truly fits. $21.99 for dinner and all day weekend pricing. $2.75 per drink. Not a bad deal, for the area. Lone Tree Buffet is a 4.7/5 in comparison and is the same price. The quality of the food was good overall. But a bit salty. And a lot of fried food options. The string beans were cold. Most items were hot. High ceiling inside, the staff seems really nice and welcoming. For drink refills, I had to get the attention of the single 1 waiter there each time. Unfortunately while eating, all I could think about was the appreciation I had of the other buffets and how better they are. But for the area, this is truly not bad. Just not great. Normally I try to eat my money's worth at a buffet, but here I didn't feel like I wanted to. There was nothing special, no stand out item there that I wanted to go back and forth for. This place just gets better each time we visit. We were greeted with friendly smiles and hello's and as we were leaving the manager asked us how everything was. We answered excellent as every item we selected was delicious and well prepared. Interesting too that there were a lot of Chinese customers enjoying the food. That is a good sign. If you see Chinese people dining it must be good Chinese food. Years ago in Chinatown in San Francisco we'd check out the customers and if most of them were Chinese we go in, but if mostly it looked like tourists we'd keep looking. The atmosphere is quite interesting too, and that really adds to the enjoyment of the meal. I grabbed a couple of steamed oysters and the manager called to me to and put a third oyster on my plate. Impressive variety of basic comfort foods for $20 and didn't get sick. Very nostalgic, decor looks untouched since the 80s or 90s. I could understand why some people would be turned off by it but I adore places that last this long because you know they prioritize the food over the aesthetic. They're keeping it real. What can I say? It's a Chinese super buffet. It definitely lives up to its name. Is the food delicious? Many say it is some say not so much. I'm happy with their food and that it's freshly cooked and they keep the hit and cold buffet clean. Our family has been going here for years. I think the new owners offer more items and much more freshly prepared. They have 4 bars with food. One is entrees that include seafood (crab, langostino, calamari dishes, shrimp galore including head on salt and pepper shrimp, fresh steam mantilla clams in a lovely Chinese sauce, Mongolian Beef, sweet and sour chicken and pork, fried rice, steamed spinach, buttery mushroom dish, Beef and Broccoli, multiple chicken options, Asian green beans and so many, many, more to choose from. The list is extensively incredible. Another hot food island has a couple kinds of soup (won ton soup is delicious as is their hot sour soup, a few kinds of dim sum, sticky rice, chicken on a stick, rumaki, chicken wings, pizza and really good fries, great egg rolls, fried shrimp and chicken nuggets, yummy egg custard mini pies, BBQ pork, ribs, and much more. There's a cold bar too with fresh salad, calamari salad, sushi (California roll, imitation crab with seaweed salad, avocado nigiri, steamed rice, shrimp cocktail that's always very fresh, and various sauces to choose from. The last one is a dessert bar. While less impressive than the other islands, there's plenty of cut fresh fruit including oranges, ripe green melon, ripe cantaloupe, banana and strawberries, a couple kinds of jello, cheesecake, little parfaits and mousse, cookies, and soft serve ice cream. My boyfriend and I went in on Friday night around 7:30pm! Our experience was great! We paid $18.99 per person and about $2.50 for each drink with free refills. They have a great variety of food, everything I tried was delicious. My favorite was the chow mein and honey walnut shrimp. We didn't realize they closed at 8pm. I noticed they started to clean up the near sections, yet we didn't feel rushed, they left all the food out, so that was nice. Nobody wants to feel rushed. The business owner came by and asked us how everything was, he even told us to take our time. Really we were damn near full and ready to go, then Right before we were done, The business owner came over to us again and asked us if we would like to take any food home, he brought us over a to go container and insisted we take food home, then he said take more, and gave us another container! Everything from traditional Chinese to sushi with a bit of American to make sure everyone in your party finds something tasty. I highly recommend the stir fry green beans and the broccoli beef. The sushi and peel and eat shrimp well fresh and well prepared. My only complaint is I would prefer the dishes be labeled. I did have a few surprises but even they were tasty. Hopefully I'll let everybody know if I get sick. i will be calling the health inspector on Monday. This place should not be an operations under any circumstances and all whatsoever. Only 3 min in and I went to tell the manager that things were cold, and he looked at me with a blank stare. I went to the front and asked if I can get a pass for another time and they said absolutely not. They were so thick that you got more of the wrap than you did of the ingredients inside. it was like eating a thick piece of plastic. First time back here in over a year and it's the same as I remembered it! All the food tasted the exact same with the same menu and everything too. However, due to COVID, they have only limited menu items available, but they had all the stuff I love so no complaints here! Additionally, the staff has to scoop your food for you, similar to cafeteria style, and you pick up the plate when it's all done. I actually prefer this a lot better since it's more sanitary and less work for me! I had no issues with them not scooping enough stuff - in fact I kept finding myself having to emphasize that I only wanted a little amount as they gave me multiple scoops per item! If you wanted more of something, all you have to do is ask and they'd give you the whole tray (literally lol). All in all it's exactly how i remembered it and I am definitely satisfied! For all the bad reviews on food quality - you came to a buffet for the plentiful food options/portions for a cheap price, not for gourmet Chinese food! We found ourselves in quite a pickle on Christmas. Our plans changed suddenly and we were home on Christmas Day with no Christmas dinner... or any kind of dinner, for that matter. We eat here often because my kids love it. Food is mediocre as is the food with almost all Chinese buffets. Staff is friendly & refills drinks & takes away plates promptly. Dining room is large so not incredible noisy even when they're packed. Always busy ~ that's a good sign at a buffet. My whole family has eaten here at least 20 times & nobody has ever gotten sick despite so many reviews of people saying they had a bad experience. This place is in our regular rotation as it's one of the only buffets around & we're mid-westerners. read more
