Super Smokers did a great job supplying food for my grandpa's 80th birthday party! We ordered two of the family packs with brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. The chicken was a bit dry, but the pork and brisket were delicious! We chose the sweet Kansas City and Championship (my favorite!) bbq sauces. For sides, we decided on green beans, coleslaw, baked beans, and applesauce. The applesauce may be the best I've ever had! The chunky texture is amazing. We also ordered the jackfruit sandwich for a vegetarian in the group and it was a hit as well! Overall, Super Smokers did a great job preparing food for our birthday party and the order was correct and ready to go at the scheduled time. I like a lot of smoke in my BBQ and Super Smokers complied with both the ribs and pulled pork I ordered for supper. I chose ribs because the server said the restaurant was known for them. My four ribs were served at room temperature and the bark was thick and chewy, though the inside meat was a little more tender. The ribs and pulled pork came unsauced but four sauces were available: Championship, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Texas Hot. (Carolina mustard sauce is available upon request.) The Championship was described as sweet and spicy, the KC as sweet and smoky, and the St Louis as sweet and mild. I could tell little difference between the two city sauces. However, the Championship had an odd spicy taste on the back end that might have been pepper sauce or vinegar. When I asked a server she said the owner wasn't in and she didn't know the difference between the sauces. The Texas Hot had obvious chili heat. Two meats and two sides come with the platter for $14.99--a good value. My mac and cheese, though, was barely warm but still overcooked. The green beans were wonderfully flavored with chunks of bacon and sweet bell pepper. Many BBQ places throw in a slice of bland, white bread so you can mop up the extra sauce. I appreciated Super Smokers for providing Texas toast. Overall, the ribs were only above average and the mac and cheese was clearly inferior. Ate at Super Smokers BBQ in Eureka on 12/27/18. I had the Pick 2 meal with beef brisket and ribs with sides of green beans and cheesy potatoes. Also added the sweet bread pudding for dessert. My friend got a full rack of ribs. Brisket had a good smoke flavor but it was fairly dry. The cut was more of what I'd expect for chopped brisket than sliced. Again, the flavor was good but the meat was dry for my taste. Ribs I got were flavorless for me. I felt like they were baked more than smoked because of the taste and texture. However, the full rack my friend got was darker and had more of a smoky sweet taste to them. It was weird. My ribs weren't horrible they just weren't flavored at all. The green beans had bacon chunks and were good enough. I felt they weren't any different than what I could make at home with a can of beans and adding sliced chunks of bacon. The cheesy potatoes were pretty darn good. If I knew better, I would have asked for double side of the cheesy potatoes! They were a hash brown style potato whereas my friend said normally they were potato square chunks. I think I'd prefer the hash brown style all the time. Again, they were darn good! The sweet bread pudding was very good. It came in its own bowl and it was sweet, warm, gooey goodness. I had to eat it all while it was warm because I don't think it would have heated up well. So good! There were multiple sauce options available but I only really liked/preferred two: Kansas City and St. Louis. One thing about the Kansas City is it reminded me exactly of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce in taste and texture found in grocery stores. That's my visit to Super Smokers BBQ. For my tastes, I don't think I'd go back except for maybe the cheesy potatoes hash brown style. It wasn't horrible barbecue but it's definitely not my preference. read more

The food was nasty and the place was very dirty. There were flies on the windows and they just kept flying all around us the whole time we were trying to eat. The water tasted like toilet water. The tea and lemonade was horrible. I had brussels sprouts and it tasted like they had been there for 3 days. The burnt ends were so tough I couldn't even chew them. The food just tasted horrible. They are horribly over priced. I paid $37 for burnt ends and Brussels sprouts. My family and I will never eat there again. read more

First off let me say that I would definitely go back. I've been so successful in the past here that I'm willing to let one visit slide. But my visit a couple of weeks ago was seriously disappointing. I was introduced to Super Smokers when I was on business in the St. Louis area five or so years ago. I ate lunch here every day and looked forward to the meal the next day. Seriously good - fresh - smoked just right. Awesome sides. Again when passing through on vacation out west we stopped here and had lunch again...so good (2 years ago). A couple of weeks ago - another business trip and told my coworker we had to go here. About 20 minutes out of the way but so worth it (I assured him). We rolled in about 630PM...have never observed a crowd here. Went to order - wanted a sampler with pulled pork and brisket, vinegar slaw, and jalapeno cornbread. Nice younger woman says they're out of cornbread. At 630PM?? I expect the lobster bisque to be gone at 9PM at the steakhouse...not cornbread at the height of dinner. Anyhow settled for the beans. Coworker went with same. Food delivered promptly - generous portions. 6 sauces at the table - good selections. Slaw - very good. Beans - (not cornbread) but very good. Pork - somewhat dry. Brisket - horribly overcooked. What a bummer. I didn't say anything since the flavor was OK but it just wasn't the melt in your mouth tender I remember from before. The only thing I could come up with was that every prior time I had been here it was around lunch. I understand BBQ is all about timing and maybe we just got the lunch scraps, but it seriously was only 630PM, not closing. The brisket had a texture of a piece of meat that had been cooking for way too long. The pork was just too dry as well. I drowned my sorrow in pools of the Championship sauce but it simply wasn't the same. So overall - very poor visit. I will give it another chance in the future. read more

I have learned a lot about BBQ over the past few years from Terry Black, founder of Super Smokers BBQ and considered by many to be the Godfather of St. Louis BBQ and consider the new owner Jeff Fitter one of my closest friends. I have eaten a lot of each of their BBQ over the years, but always wondered how that would transition for Jeff in to to cooking for the masses in a restaurant. Well, my first visit to SuperSmokers certainly will not be my last. I ordered the BBQ Nachos, a side of burnt ends, as well as a side of home made mac and cheese and I have to tell you that they were each excellent. The BBQ nachos have been a Super Smoker BBQ staple for years, but the brisket in this nachos really seemed to pack a punch and gave the nachos an added kick that was eventually mellowed by the sweetness of the beans. It was the perfect storm of BBQ goodness. The burnt ends were a bit of a surprise, having not always been on the menu in the past, but they are a staple currently. They were like little cubes of flavored meat candy in your mouth. They were so good, chewing was optional, as they melted when you put them in your mouth. Which leaves me to the mac and cheese. This isn't your standard velveeta kraft mac and cheese, this is a homemade baked mach and cheese with the right blend of crispy noodles and browned cheese from being baked just right. This is a newer addition to the menu, and one I was familiar with from Phatso's BBQ catering days. It offered the perfect side for the burnt ends......now if we could just get some of the brisket diced up in the mac and cheese.....that would be money. All in all, such a great experience to see Jeff pick up the torch that Terry carried so well over the years. I can't wait to see Jeff put his own touches on the restaurant in the months to come and am already looking forward to coming back and trying the ribs. read more

Trust me when I say this... good old fashion, all-American barbecue just doesn't get much better than Super Smokers! When Super Smokers closed their O'Fallon, Illinois location, due to greedy bankers, my heart split right down the middle! Thank God the original Eureka, Missouri location is still fully operational, still smoking beef, chicken, turkey, and of course, pork! Their meats are prepared dry-rub, smoked and served with a mouthwatering array of sauces... spanning the tase spectrum from the mild Carlona Mustard, to spicy Texas Hot! With eight award-winning sauces, there's got to be at least one to please your BBQ sauce palate! I could sit here and do a laundry list off everything I love on the Super Smoker's menu, but I'll leave that up to you and Google. However, I have to highlight a few... First, their Baby-Back Ribs are out of this world! They are dry-rubbed and smoked to perfection. The meat is tender, and falls off the bone. It is NEVER dry! Second, you must try the Beef Brisket. It's cooked just right... and lightly smoked. It doesn't have that over-bearing smoke intensity that most BBQ joints just can't seem to regulate. Make sure you get some Jalapeno Sweet Corn Bread to accompany your meal. It's a "never forget" experience. That brings me to my last recommendation, the Louisiana-Style Sweet Bread Pudding. Or as we say back home in Pennsylvania... spoon bread! This is always the highlight of our dining experience! The whole family loves it, and won't leave without getting it! The atmosphere is very country. The place (from the outside), resembles a large barn. The interior is decorated with era signs and awards from numerous BBQ championships won. The tables have a picnic bench sort of appeal to them, really locking in the whole BBQ experience. While Super Smokers BBQ doesn't have a liquor license, they don't mind BYOB! We love this place. It's close proximity to Six Flags, makes it a convenient spot to eat for lunch or on the way home! read more

We stopped here for lunch on our drive from Ohio to Texas. I'm so glad we did. The dry-rubbed smoked ribs taste so good by themselves I almost didn't want to add any of the 6 different BBQ sauces. And the BBQ sauces are fantastic too! My favorite was the Tennessee style, but they're all good. My wife really liked the "champion" sauce that won the world championships in Memphis. This was pretty ridiculous. Waited 25 minutes for a burnt end sandwich. The sandwich was drown in sickly sweet bbq sauce seemingly to cover for the fact that there was maybe 2 ounces of meat on the $17 sandwich. 2 ounces may be generous as it was more like bbq bits. At least a couple bites had no detectable meat so it was more like bbq sauce soup on a bun. If I were to try to be very charitable I would say it was a McRib at a gourmet price. The short of it: for billing itself World Champion BBQ, it sure disappoints. I like the barn look of the place, and the interior is warm and familiar, reminding me of so many local and rural BBQ joints throughout the South. I like that you order upfront and then take your seat. Again, old school small town charm. Super Smokers sells a few different type BBQ sauces. We bought the Carolina Mustard sauce and their "World Championship" sauce. To review the sauces: the Kansas City Sauce tastes not much different than KC Masterpiece, very sweet and smoky. The St. Louis sauce tastes a little too identical to ketchup. The Texas Hot BBQ sauce was pretty good, had a nice Tabasco undertone to it. The Carolina sauce disappointed a bit. While it was good, the mustard was too strong and the tanginess and vinegar were overpowered. Our favorite was the Tennessee sauce, it had a tremendous peppery taste to it that was excellent without the overwhelming sweetness. The Championship sauce was just okay. The food came out, I had a pulled pork sandwich, the lady had the baby back ribs. The pork was surprisingly bland. It had no seasoning at all. The only flavor was the fat and subdued smokiness of the meat. There was no bark on the pork, no rub whatsoever was visible on the meat. Highly disappointing. We're from Memphis and while Memphis has its fair share of bad BBQ joints, they all at least manage to at least get some salt and pepper on the served BBQ. The ribs had a nice glaze on them. Very tangy, subtle sweetness and a hint of citrus, but the ribs were a bit tough. Part of it felt like you were eating jerky. You expect a certain level of tenderness on a rib, and it wasn't delivered this time. The sides we got: potato salad and baked beans were fine, nothing special but it was good. The coleslaw is pickled, unique, again nothing great but it was okay. The French fries were little stubby crinkled fries. The fries in my serving were all less than an inch in length and it was a very small portion. It should have never come out of the kitchen being that short. It literally looked like I got the last bits out of the bag of frozen fries. Also got no ketchup, but I just used the St Louis Sauce since it's essentially brown ketchup. In conclusion: I like the decor and proximity to Six Flags. But the food is highly disappointing. You can't promote a World BBQ championship you won years ago and then send food out that was never seasoned. For being called Super Smokers, the meat only had a faint hint of smoke. If you're just driving through... just continue on to Memphis or Kansas City for better options. read more

But I figured let try it out becuz our next option was SugarFire, which I'm over. Straight to the point. -amazing portions -really good tasty sides -and just straight up really fresh good bbq I was really impressed with the size, and I'm a big eater. My wife and two kids loves the food to. I plan on returning in the future from camping trips. And to the guy that purposely leaves a review for the previous owner, how the hell does that make any sense. Youre leave a damaging review, knowingly this place has a new owner, what an idiot! Overpriced. For what you get it's kind of overpriced, especially the sides. $4 for a tiny side of macaroni was a bit much. My mom got the brisket which was awesome but my ribs were really dry and had a flake of teal nail polish on it. I was just tired so I didn't have the energy to complain. Located right off the expressway, we pulled in and went inside. The place has a hand written menu on the wall, and they have a ton of stuff to choose from. Brisket, chicken, pork and so much more, we had a ton of stuff to choose from. my friend went with the sampler plate, and I went with the brisket sandwich with green beans and potato salad. I really loved my food, as did my friend. It wasn't the best brisket I've had, but it was definitely tasty and really good. They had a variety of BBQ sauces to choose from, but the sandwich itself didn't come with anything on it. I guess they've won a bunch of awards for their BBQ, and it was a okay. I wasn't blown away, but if you want something original, local and non fast food, I would say stop and check it out. I was excited to try this after hearing about it on DGS. I was not as impressed when my food arrived. The meats are amazing. Smoked turkey is tender, juicy, and great mild smokey flavor. The sides, however, are very lack luster. Cream corn looks like a canned corn (whole kernel) dumped into a cream sauce. Cheesy potatoes seemed very greasy. I had a difficult time if the runoff was grease or a butter type liquid. Cucumber and tomato salad is literally pickle slices and tomato chunks with bits of carrot and onion thrown in for good measure in a very thin Italian style watery marinade. The food was ok. In the competitive bbq market, there is room for improvement, more smoke flavor. What disturbed me was the poor attitude of the staff and the filthiness of the dining area. You can clearly tell that nothing is moved when they mop and the light switch plate had not been cleaned in a long time as it was black instead of white. The food at the Super Smokers on Gravois in St Louis is very good. I would give the cost two $$. The plain side are very ordinary. You pay extra for the homemade sides. The cucumber and tomato salad was good, but it was swimming in dressing. The dressing was very good, just to much of it. The service was great, but our waitress did not ask what I wanted with my baked potato. She brought out butter, which was rock hard, and sour cream. I don't eat sour cream so that portion was wasted. Man! What a lucky find. My group had a random urge for ribs after a day at Six Flags in STL, and did a search and would up here. It was authentic, unique and everyone left full and happy! It's a classic BBQ spot that has a charm to it. The menu is written on paper in the wall but you get the sense that it's the real deal as soon as you walk in. The workers were all friendly and it was clean and moderately busy. We got a full rack of ribs (with two sides) and a large pulled pork sandwich (with two sides) split between two adults and a child. Everything got devoured! The ribs were amazing, fall off the bone, awesomeness!
