I'm pleasantly surprised that Supercuts have kept the prices reasonable. I used to get my haircuts at a Supercuts near the university where I was getting my graduate degree. Back then (which was years ago), the price of a haircut was $14. Now, the price is only $16. That's very reasonable, especially in these tough economic times. After reading the reviews on Yelp about this Supercuts, I made an appointment with Tram, whom most reviews said was one of the best stylists there. Tram's great reputation is well earned. She gave me a very nice haircut. She's an easy going person, very professional and extremely good at cutting my hair. Oh, she's very good at shampooing my hair. The staff here is very friendly and the place is very clean. Other customers who were getting their haircut there at the same time as me seemed satisfied with other stylists. In fact, it looks like many of the customers are repeat customers and they know most of the staff and stylists. Update: March 2014 Tram continues to work on hair since my first visit here several years ago. She's great! read more

Avoid this super cuts at all cost. I had a haircut by a someone who had no business cutting hair. It started out ok at first but when I looked at my fade it was all over the place instead of straight. I had a patch of hair that wasn't blended properly so it stuck out like a sure thumb. The thing that pissed me off the most after I had asked her to fix it and even it out. She decides to listening in on someone else's conversation and messes up my hair again. I should have waited for my regular barber but I had a wedding the next day. Avoid the blonde at all cost. If she's free wait for someone else. read more

Checked in and asked for a hair cut. Was not assisted as the receptionist/cashier forgot to add me on the wait list, even after saying the wait would be 15 minutes. I asked if she missed me when customers walking in were called and I was still waiting after 25 minutes. The cashier said she'd pencil me in with Shaina but didn't ask me my name. I should have taken that as a sign and left. The cashier said, "oh um sorry." A stylist/hair cutter sat me down in the chair.. I showed the stylist a china bob picture, she said ok. She cut my hair but I didn't get any bangs. She cut my hair super short in places, left prices long in others that looks nothing a China bob. My hair is uneven, it's choppy all over from front to back. The stylist didn't let me see it in the mirror - where you turn around in the chair and are handed a mirror to inspect. So I didn't see what my final haircut was. She rushed me out of the chair because her regular customer has dropped in. And said we were done. I tipped her but had a bad feeling about my haircut as I left. My haircut was rushed, not what I asked for, and horrible. I regret getting my haircut at Super Cuts. I'm going to see if a real stylist can fix my hair. It's a disaster. I don't even know what to say. Do not go to Super Cuts. Do not go to this Super Cuts. Do not trust the person cutting at this Super Cuts with your haircut unless you are getting a shaved head. Meaning, if the haircut requires a style outside of a shaved bald head.. Some of the women do an amazing job. One of the stylist is kinda rude especially when she's hangry! She often sits in the front seat opposite of the counter. I like the other women especially when they have a nice demeanor when you come in. But the one woman makes me not want to come back at all. I think she prefers selective people to work on or do hair on. read more

Negative 5 stars!!! Went in after reading Nancy's glowing reviews, she spent about 10 minutes cutting 8 inches off of my hair, which is funny because I asked for 3 inches off. Not only did she lop off 5 inches too many, she didn't cut it by the part and she cut it extremely asymmetrical, as in 3 inches longer on on the right side. FAIL. read more

Nancy Nyueng (sp) is awesome, between her experience and talent you get to leave with a great haircut. She did a #2 on the bottom fade to #4 then to hand-cut length about #7 on the top. It turned out perfect. Then I had my hair washed after the cut (I always get that done, I can't stand all those little hairs falling down my back), turned out to be theeeee best shampoo-massage I ever had, Nancy really takes her time massaging and washing your head and and when she's done your feeling like a new man! you will be glad that I told you about it ! Ya know, Super Cuts gets its fair share of derision because its a huge chain all across the country and it does sometimes hire bottom of the barrel hair stylists. I've had a few bad hair cuts at various Super Cuts. But every diamond comes out of a muddy river or a pile of mine rock. The diamond of the Newark Super Cuts is Tram. I don't even know Tram's last name, and have no excuse because she has been cutting my hair for 5 years now. She cuts my hair just the way I like it, and she does it with skill, a smile, and efficiency. If I moved to San Mateo tomorrow I would cross the bridge to come back to her for my haircut. I took my kid to the haircut on him insisting via a walk-in. He had his haircut long time overdue and his hair was long. The person doing the haircut was outright rude and was not receptive to instructions/requests on the type of haircut. I initially thought it was a language barrier and showed some photos of the type of haircut needed but soon realized it was an attitude barrier . I asked for a fade on the side and to cut the hair slightly shorter than the initial request , but she kept stating the hair was long the haircut already looks better. The kid was disappointed at this juncture and I thought I will make him feel a little better by getting a shampoo//conditioner and a comb( the first time I ever tried this on my kid). She put some water with some bubbles and in 30 seconds said that Shampoo is done and insisted the kids neck might hurt if she does more. Overall a disappointing experience for the exorbitant prices they charge and at the end of it the kid was inconsolable read more

I've been going here for years and the haircuts are pretty good. But, in the last year I noticed the service has gone down hill. There are only two stylists and no receptionist so the stylists have to greet customers, answer the phone and cut hair. I will not go back to this location because I feel like it is not customer friendly anymore. read more

Very bad service. Very frustrating. Too long wait, and unfair waitlist management by receptionist. I was waiting with my 7 year for an hour, there were 2 number ahead of me. For each customer they were taking 20+ mins, which I felt very slow and there were only 2 barbers. I was waiting for an hour for the 2 numbers to finish. Few more guys came meanwhile. Both spot got free, suddenly a barber directly called a guy who came after me, maybe they knew each other. For second spot receptionist gave preference to another guy who also came after me. When I asked, I was told they had called (really?). If that is the case, then at least one spot should be reserved for drop in people. I just walked out of the place to never walk in again. My kid was very unhappy as he wanted to get haircut, instead faced boring 1 hr waittime. What a disappointing service for such big name! read more

I would give them a higher score, because it's not hard to do a crew cut but the child receptionist was rude. We came and she said it would be 30 min so we left and came back in 20. The child then informed me she didn't put us in the pc so we had to wait another 30 min. Seriously have some one competent at the front desk. They are the first person your clients meet. OK, I admittedly only went for a very quick mustache trim. But, I didn't have to wait long at all, the price was very reasonable, and the lady I got was great. Quick, knew what she was doing, and it came out great. (I grew a beard for the NHL playoffs, and while the playoffs are over, I'm trying to get a Joe Thornton thing going on, but I don't know how much longer I can stand it! :-) ) I'd definitely come back here to get my 'stash trimmed, or a haircut the next time too. I like my haircut but they didn't finish blow drying my hair. She just half assed it and was like okay you're done. I walked out awkwardly with my hair wet and messy.. I could tell she was over it. But she barely took 3 minutes drying my hair and was looking elsewhere distracted and wasn't really drying it... seriously? Never have I ever walked out of a hair salon with wet hair. It was kind of embarrassing. It was the older Asian lady. I don't think I'll ever come back and I don't recommend them at all. When I first moved to Fremont, I had such a hard time finding a place that did a simple zero fade... One place made my hair look like a mushroom cloud, another made it look like a traffic cone. I used to travel all the way back to East Side SJ just for a hair cut. Then I found Nancy, she cuts my hair perfectly EVERY time. I even made sure to make an appointment to have her cut my hair before my wedding, even though I was getting married over an hour away. Who did not now how to cut my sons curly hair basically another asian girl tried to fix it but it was too late. i am not being racist i do not care about races we are all the same but I need to describe who did the job. The stylists are great and I'm usually happy with my haircut. So I've been coming here about every month or so for decades but the place is really going downhill due to management. They are now always understaffed with 2 stylists on the busiest days, they let go of their receptionists and replaced them with a kiosk, the stylists are overworked juggling haircuts, scheduling, phone calls, walk ins, payments, sweeping, and also expected to speed through customers. It's sad that I can remember not that long ago being able to come in, put my name down with the receptionist, and maybe wait 15 mins tops as 3 or 4 stylists were working. Yesterday there were 2 stylists on a Friday with 11 people waiting according to the kiosk. My nephew went three Fridays ago and there was 1 for the entire shop. I called in two months ago and there was a 3 hour wait. No wonder they're starting to lose stylists, sad to hear Tram left, will be sad if more leave due to the deteriorating management practices. Hope the shop can improve, especially for the stylists sake as they've been nothing but great over the years and a shame things changed like this. read more

They screwed up simple men's cut twice. Not going there again

Horrible. Enough for me to write this revuew as we are driving away. My fiancé always gets his haircut in the city but because he is working from home recently, he decided to try someplace local. He needed a haircut since we have a formal event this weekend. I left my fiancé for 10 minutes and he called me right after telling me he was "done." Really?! After 10 minutes only? Wow. I see him and first thing he said was "too short." I immediately noticed that his sideburns were completely different. One was much higher than the other. Next thing I noticed, the lady didn't shave the back of his neck hairline on one side. Third thing I quickly noticed, uneven hair throughout. He didnt know because he said she didnt even give him a mirror to look at himself after. She was done and on to the next person. Yes, we went back into the store to have his hair fixed asap. Unfortunately, he did not get names so cant tell you which lady it was that messed up his hair, but she looked asian. When the fiancé came back to get it fixed, another lady helped him and she was much, much better (this lady looked asian with a darker complexion and long black hair). She should ask for the tip from from her coworker. read more

Great service, great work, and reasonably priced. My only gripe is they don't handle scheduled appointments very well. There've been numerous times where I've called in, set a time, and the stylist is still in the middle of the previous customer or they take a customer that's been waiting a long time over your appointed time. They need to understand that we call in for a reason and adjust our busy schedules to squeeze in this appointment. That's the benefit for us folks that need to plan ahead. I've been going to the Newark Supercuts for about 10 to 15 years. I have no problem with the stylists. My problem is with the person setting up the appointment. The last 3 times I've called in, they have told me to come in at a certain time. I've arrived only to have to wait an additional 30 minutes. Tonight, I called and they told me to come into the shop in 45 minutes. I arrived at the scheduled time only to be told it would be another 20 minutes. Based on the last two times, it was probably another 30 minutes or so. What gives? Tired of being misled. I think I'll go somewhere else! read more
