What a fantastic spot for food! We were looking for something for lunch - a light, late lunch that we could get to go. I headed to Yelp and was drawn here of all of the positive reviews. I wish I'd discovered this place earlier in our trip! I ordered a turkey sandwich and upgraded to the soup (I selected tomato basil). The bread that was used on the sandwich was absolutely delicious! My husband and I ended up splitting a sandwich since we had dinner in about three hours -- but I wish we had gotten our own, it was so good! Great location and ambiance. Live acoustic music the day we went on s weekend. Employees were friendly. They have a patio that is great for dogs. The food was a bit bland and lacked character. The iced tea only comes in a peach flavor which was disappointing, just wanted fresh black tea. Overall a good experience. read more

This is my office away from my office! I love showing off this cute little spot. Kathy and her team make awesome matcha tea lattes, golden milk lattes and my favorite, half and half!! The half and half is an Arnold Palmer without having to say "Arnold Palmer" which is nice because I hate saying that. Also, their baked goods are all made in house. If you have a chance to try the loaf cakes or the cookies, you should. They are SO good and not always available! read more

We were searching for a very late brunch on Easter Sunday. Luckily we drove by and noticed it since Yelp totally failed to let us know about it. The lox bagel, panini, hot dog with a side of scrambled eggs, an acai bowl, tasty lattes, and games made our visit to Surfers Point Cafe exactly what we were searching for. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Family owned and under new management this place is a perfect stop for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Sadly Yelp only promotes places that actually pay them a fee to do so. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this little gem of a joint on the way to the Yelp recommends places that were actually closed. Delicious food! Quality service! Tasty açaí! I came into the area to hang out in the lounge with my laptop and chose the coolnee Surfer's Point cafe. It's great! I was greeted with friendly and fun service, I ordered the açaí with honey and blueberries and it was AMAZING! The honey especially was very delicious. After a while on my laptop I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. Excellent deal for the value! And you get a side of potato salad or mac'n'cheese with it too. Yum! Really like this cool new place. Also, there's some great local art all over the walls for sale. Very charming! And they sell beer too! Very hip spot for sure! read more

If your on the corner of Thompson and Figueroa in Ventura you'll no doubt notice Tony's Pizza. It's been there for ever, it's part of Ventura history yadda, yadda, yadda. Do yourself a favor skip the crowd and the greasy pizza slice and cross the street to the Surfers Point Cafe. My wife and I happened by on our way home from Morro bay. Of course we were drawn by the line and all the hubbub at Tony's but we're old and don't like lines or hubbub dammit. So we sauntered on across the street. I was first struck by the very cool surf motif. Very Ventura. I had a cafe mocha and my wife had some kind of tea. Ugh! They offer a good variety of sandwiches. I'm a sucker for a good tuna salad so that's what I had while my better half opted for the avocado toast. My sandwich was excellent and I can only assume my wife's avocado toast was good since she didn't ask for a bite of my sandwich, which as every husband knows is a common part of eating with your wife. Went in and my friend asked for a menu and then I asked if they had a a restroom. Their response was: "Yes, but our restrooms are for customers only. So, we ask that you order first." They lost a potential customer! What is worse is the friend who asked for the menu and was in front of me is a light skinned Latina with her mom. I was right behind ( I am a darker-skinned Latino) . I couldn't help but wonder if the woman at the counter thought we weren't together and that I probably was not going to be a paying customer based on the color of my skin. read more

I really enjoy this place's acai bowls, only had them once before today but it was going to become my new favorite. Today I was in the mood for an acai bowl and I placed an order online for my husband to pick up. The pickup time was set for ASAP because we do live pretty close and I was hungry. Upon placing the order, my husband got a work call he needed to take, the call wasn't long, maybe 15 min (the time it would've taken to get there). He left right after his call but since it's raining very heavily, it took a little longer to get there since he took the streets instead of the freeway. When he arrived he found my acai bowl completely melted and the guy who worked there side eyed and rolled his eyes at my husband, who didn't even say anything. You would think that (especially due to the rain) they may assume it may take people a little longer to get there. Cold products, especially frozen, should be kept in a fridge or freezer until pickup and maybe have the toppings on the side for pickup orders. I saw online about the espresso flight and it wasn't advertised in store but they were happy to do it for me. Def recommend. Support local. There were zero people there so it wasn't an issue of being busy, but i had one of the most flavorless and cold bagel sandwiches I've ever had. Got the avocado bagel which comes open faced with scrambled egg, mashed Avo, tomato and a slice of onion. There was about a half a tablespoon worth of very cold egg thrown on both bagels, with three pieces of spring lettuce Thrown on top as well which seemed very odd. It was just all very confusing. (Had to get on the road so i didn't have time to photograph it but just imagine a bagel with avocado with egg scraps and a 3 pieces of spring lettuce thrown on top) Plus side only being the woman working was very kind.
