The details: I called Martin after a clog removal by another company went sideways (probably the topic of a no star review in the future). The first company identified where the problem was, but also caused a spill of sewage inside the house, then quoted me $5k to dig up the pipe and really fix the problem. To no one's surprise, I wasn't happy. So I called AHJ for a second opinion, and Martin answered the call. He spent a good 20 minutes on the phone, asking me detailed questions about the problem, and explaining my options (the other company did none of that). He made no guarantees, but said he thought he could solve the problem, so I asked him to have a look. He was at my house within 3 hours. The line had two objects stuck inside, causing backups. Martin worked to jet out one of the objects out, then used a camera to inspect the entire 80 ft. length of the pipe. The second object was still there, though, and it looked like digging was the only option. However, this is where the real magic happened! The second object was about 12 ft from the clean out, and it was not budging. Martin, however, thinks outside the box. He got out a large shop vac and stuffed the hose down the line. With the help of his camera he aligned the end of the hose with the obstruction and started up the vacuum. It took a while and was not easy work, but Martin eventually pulled out a 8" long, 2 lb. solid steel spring! That's no exaggeration (How that got in there I'll never know). It was Amazing! He also documented everything with his camera and thoroughly explained everything that we could see. So, I now know all about the good, and the bad, of my main sewer line, should any future problem arise. Thank you, Martin, for the exceptional service!

They said that it would require a hydrojet, equipment they didn't have. I found Jose on Yelp since he offers hydrojetting. He came to take a look the same day for a free estimate. He re-analyzed the situation and said he thinks it can be snaked, cautioning that using a hydrojet in this case may cause flooding. His crew came out the next day and cleared it in 40 minutes. They also sent me a text with the name and headshot of the technician coming, which I thought was a good customer service touch. They had a $69 inspection fee and the fee was waived when they ended up doing repairs. They assessed the leak was coming from of the connections to those sinks that have the pull-out nozzles (I don't know what you call them). The technician said other than that that the sink looked in overall good shape, and the price they mentioned didn't seem outrageous. I approved the repair and they got it done in a couple hours. No complaints from our tenants since the work was done.
