The sushi, service, and 20% off daily happy hour were all excellent. I had the Seared Toro Roll with the Toro raw instead of seared. It was very tasty and satisfying. I ordered the Tataki Special Roll and it left me full & happy. The waitress was very kind and upbeat, so I'd definitely return! They also have a Los Feliz location, if you're off the 5.

I was craving sushi & our son said Sushi Ai was his favorite so we went and it was absolutely delicious! Everything was super fresh & our server was polite & efficient. One warning: the spicy edamame is HOT so beware.

I had Happy Hour dinner here! The food was great and our server was excellent!! My only thing was the music was not good. Change your playlist and you get 5 stars!

We wanted to try another sushi spot on 2nd Street and picked Sushi Ai for the outdoor seating. We were the first to arrive just after they opened at noon. A sign indicated that we could pick our own table and once we did, the server was quick to arrive and let us know that we could choose from the Happy Hour menu which gives you 20% of a selection of appetizers and rolls along with a variety of beers. We opted to order off the regular menu and tried the Baked Jumbo Scallop, Eel Crunch Roll and the Sashimi 9pc lunch special, which included Tuna, Salmon, and White Fish for 19.99. The Baked Scallop arrived steaming hot and was so flavorful. Along with the Eel Crunch all the sauces were so well balanced. The Sashimi tasted fresh and was filling. Overall, a delicious meal with great service!

Amazing quality of sushi. It is a little on the pricier side- but it's definitely worth it. They have lunch specials which are perfect. I enjoy their carpaccios, the sauce they used for my tuna was amazing!

Sushi Ai is one of my favorite sushi restaurants for a few reasons. The staff is personable and actually talks to you (on slower days), sushi/nigiri is fresh, and it's clean. As you walk in, you're greeted by the staff. I like many of the options on the menu - there's sushi, nigiri, bento boxes, udon, and bowls. It's a simple menu but it has many of my favorites. My go to are the bento boxes, bowls, and fresh sushi. However, prepare to spend a little more. It is more on the steeper side!

Self seating during slower hours. Servers are polite and friendly. I'd recommend getting some type of appetizer since the rolls take some time to freshly prepare. Baked mussels are a personal favorite along with shishito peppers. I usually get the Spicy Alaska or Fire roll. The restaurant is quite relaxed. Chefs are often open to having a chat which also gives it a lively ambiance. Always a pleasure to eat here! They have a happy hour with select rolls at a 20% discount.

    7/22/23 Finally trying Sushi Ai

7/22/23 Finally stopped in to try Sushi Ai We've passed by this sushi joint about a few dozen times, so hubby was feeling like having sushi today-Why not give it a Go? We rolled in, no wait at 10 pm on a Saturday night. Initially, our server was Maria, then Angie stepping in. Hubby ordered salmon roll, Scottish pepper salmon with garlic ponzu & Fire-i guess he was really famished. I opted to get the Sushi & sashimi dinner--this was highly satisfying. The fish was sliced THICK, the sushi chef didn't skimp at all. It tasted fresh, great mouthfeel. It was silky smooth. Presentation looked a bit sloppy but the food tasted great. Hubby gave his rolls the two thumbs up! Service by Angle was fairly prompt but not as attentive as we'd like. We sat outside by the sidewalk & people watched as we dined. For the price we paid, I expected better/attentive service. Highly satisfied with our meal.

Oooof sushi ai is so underrated & was honestly so surprised there wasn't as much people. But hey, I guess I can't complain about a line. Very good sushi for a decent cost. I live in the Bay Area though im desensitized to the cost of dining out LULZ. But anyway, I got a salad, 2-piece toro and 3 additional rolls for ONLY $89. Like what an absolute steal! The service was quick and staff was so friendly. Ambiance is pretty casual which is nice if you want good sushi and a chill date night. I'm definitely coming back! Toro = MELT in your mouth delicious. If I could just eat toro and not break my account I would. Hawaiian Garlic Roll = OMFG. The holy grail. The butter flavor in this roll adds next level. Jumbo scallop roll = delicious flavor but felt unsure about how overcooked the scallops were on top. Crispy onion roll: delicious but not my favorite. Between the fish, flavor and crispy salad and onion on top it felt too acidic.

There's a reason we have a saved note with our order (scroll the end if you want it!) because Sushi Ai is a fantastic spot for the sushi lover in your family. This is my go to in Long Beach and has been for over three years. The outdoor patio is perfect for people and dog watching while also being steps away from fresh juice & desserts. The inside of the restaurant is perfect for a date night or family dinner. As for the carpaccio, good luck deciding. They are all delicious. Our go to order is Tuna with Cilantro X 2 Salmon with truffle caviar Tuna with garlic chips Yellowtail carpaccio 2 orders Salmon belly sushi Albacore with crispy onion Pepper salmon Miso soup

We shared calamari ($24), mussels ($23), fried rice ($30), fries ($7), and a couple of 18 oz bone-in ribeyes ($68/each) [sorry, not all items puctured]. My crew of five (including me), liked the calamari and steak & fries. The calamari was tender, the steaks were grilled medium rare, and the fries were GBD. However, the shrimp in the rice and the mussels were not fresh. Luckily, no one got sick later. Regarding the ambiance, its spacious in here. However, the amount of people seemed light on a Fri night around 6-7 pm. Our waiter Jason and the rest of the team were super nice & attentive. We received fresh plates and steak knives (we ordered a second steak later during the meal). I'd return for a good time w/ a large group. The place accommodates big parties well, and the service is really good. Nonetheless, keep in mind the food is hit & miss, and the prices are on the high side.

Meaning, we were spending time together and just moving through the interaction, like clothes in a spin cycle. But going here made our time together mean something more because we had arrived at a space that elevated our mood and spirits. So we were now feeling the suds and splashes of the movement not just in the monotony of the spin. As we entered, I felt like the place was a Chinese Market but indoors. I have never bene to China (I have yet to die so maybe one day my feet will have the chance to step the Great Wall) but I feel like their street vendors would have stands like the seating motif within the main room of this joint. The place was not packed but there was no space within the wooden booths for Conrad and I. I asked for options, and they showed me two different rooms. The first room was the Hao Pen You room which was heavilty yet beautifully decorated with varying red lanterns in the ceiling. Additionally, there was a paper dragon hanging in the ceiling, swimming in the air amidst the lanterns. The host ushered me in, and milaseconds after I felt a quick sense of awe. Not like the one I felt one I saw the Sisteen Chappel, but one that compelled me to snap quick photos of the aerial view. The host understood. She stopped her explanation to give me the space to feel my wow that was delivered in a red envelope. I eventually decided to sit in this room, so there is more detail that I can deliver, but before I do, I did request to see the other room of the house. So we crossed the room with the wooden booths and stepped into an immersive Tiki Bar that gave shipwreck vibes. Like the survivors of shipwreck took what they could from the boat's carcass, and made a great bar in the beach that glowed with the light of jellyfish and had seaweed on the ceiling as decoration that was not stale like mistletoe on a doorway. When Conrad and I sat in the Hao Pen You room, we learned that it was a quasi speak easy. According to history, in the 1800's it was common for Chinese immigrants to visit gambling and opium dens behind laundry rooms to find a space that they could call their own and escape discrimination. I am sure that dens of the past did not have the blazing style of the room I was sitting in, but I did appreciate learning about the history that inspired the room. Only because the pain of the past was reshaped to honor a culture in theatrical and edgy red. Plus, as one of my pictures show, the dragon's face and laser lit eyes, made it seem like a real creature born to this earth, not one simply reserved for myth and Game of Throne episodes. I appreciated the immersive trip to Chinese's lore and history. The reason why I did not give this place 5 stars, was the food. The food in general was (maybe tragically) basic. Conrad did not confirm this fact until we were outside the restaurant. I asked him why did he not share his feelings with our server when she asked? He explained why would he, she did not cook the food, and she could not do anything? And I am from the camp, where honesty matters but I guess it might only matter to me? He might be right what does honest feedback do for a server? Conrad might have been practicing "restaurant politeness" like keep the situation civil because if one becomes a demanding patron or eater then one breaks the social contract and becomes rude. Specifically, Conrad and I had the Vegan Dumplings, the pork buns, and rice wrapped in leaves. And even though we had different bites, and each one had their own flavor profile at the end I can only describe each bite as basic. That is my opinion, and I stand by it, as I should, as every one should. Perhaps this restaurant owns this identity. This might be a place that offers theatrical atmosphere, great drinks, vibes that make a Tuesday special, but their food might be the area that remains standard, and in the final score card the servers of the joint might be ok with that.

Everything was pretty good with my standouts being the hand-pulled noodles and the tofu & shiitake mushroom entree. You could tell the hand-pulled noodles were fresh and made by hand. The sauce on it was good but too salty. The tofu & shiitake dish was served in a savory and tasty home/brown sauce. The scallion pancake was good as well, just much thinner than other scallion pancakes. The Chinese broccoli was good, but I thought it was more bitter than usual Chinese broccoli dishes. The fried rice was okay.

This little gem in Long Beach is a great spot to grab some great food!…read more It's a very small building and there are a few seats outside or you may need to eat in your car but it's worth it! Items to order - the giant fried squid , egg rolls , salt and pepper wings and the seafood chowder!

Since we had smaller appetites, this was basically finished before we left to get back home. seafood chowder: holy moly, I mean the cheese being shredded (chef's kiss emoji), imitation crab, green onions, shrimp, potato, this was so rich and creamy. we regretted only getting a cup but it was also just enough due to the richness (and our lactose intolerant tummies). vietnamese coffee: well I didn't know it was going to come in a cup as big as one's bladder, but this (as one knows about Vietnamese coffee) packed the punch in your throat by the first sip. I felt like I got flashbanged in the gulag. the flavor was also delicious, can't go wrong - but maybe let the ice melt before you try chugging it.

Me and my crew just got done with a long day but we still needed dinner. They were pretty tired so…read moreI decided I'd just get some Thai/Chinese take out and bring it back to the hotel. We have full kitchens in all the rooms where we're staying along with plates and all the set ups. The rooms even have dishwashers! So, I found this S T Noodle Bar near by and decided to give it a try. I kinda know what there guys like to eat, so I just ordered a bunch of food. The only request from anybody was for Pad Thai, the most common dish at all Thai restaurants. I GPS my way over and order the food. I was Khao Soy on the menu and I don't see that at too many Thai places that I've been to, so I got an order of that with chicken. Of course, an order of Pad Thai, 2 orders since I have 5 hungry people to feed. Also, I ordered the Thai coconut soup, I think it's called Tom Kha with chicken. One more noodles dish was the Drunken Noodles, it's kinda like Chinese Chow Fun, but has a more spicy flavor and basil in it. The food was all pack and bagged for me to take back to the hotel. We used my room since I have a bigger room. We had plates and set ups for all five of us and we re-plated the food on the serving plates that came with the room. All the food was really tasty and everybody was happy not to have to leave the hotel. I heard compliments on the Pad Thai and the Coconut soup. It was a good idea just to do take out and eat at the hotel here.

Checked out S T Noodle Bar today and had a good experience!…read more We were eating with an infant so high chair friendly was a must. We were greeted and helped right away and got a place in the restaurant that fit us well. We ordered the veggie spring roll, tofu soup, beef pad thai and tom yum. The veggie spring roll tasted fresh and the sauce added a nice layer of flavor. Off the bat, the portion sizes for the tom yum and pad thai were VERY generous (from my experiences with Thai restaurants). The pad thai stood out and was absolutely delicious! The service did great with helping us out and attending to our requests. The ambiance was relaxed, and where we sat in the back was cool because there was upbeat music playing loud enough to muffle the surrounding sounds but still soft enough to have conversation at our table without needing to raise our voice. Overall, I'm glad I gave S T Noodle Bar a try! I'd recommend it!
