New Years Eve 2020 TO GO ORDER. Came recommended by several people. Ordered about 5-6 different rolls and a few salads. Presentation was beautiful. Fish appeared fresh. Tasted OK. Found that most of the rolls tasted the same. The spicy rolls were mild compared to other places I frequent. A bit pricey. Not bad, just had high expectations. Loved their sushi rolls!!!! The food was 10/10. I got the Baked jumbo Scallop which was amazing but my favorite was the Baby Lobster Crunch, I totally recommend it. Also, I loved the sushi chef's! My friend and I just walked around and saw the restaurant, so we decided to have dinner here. There are a lot of rolls that look good on their menu and we didn't know what we should get. We asked for help from the staff and she offered us the best tuna roll ever. It's spicy California tuna with cilantro. It's the best and made my day today. Thank you. This place used to be great! Always got take out, but recently our experience has been horrible. The last couple of times, the food quality has been gradually going down. It doesn't taste as fresh and well prepared as it used to. The last couple of times, our oder has taken a lot longer than it used. Last week, they forgot to include one of our rolls in our order and stated that they can't refund us over the phone. Had to drive back to get our money back. I called them multiple times for this issue to he resolved and not even once heard "Sorry." There are bunch of sushi places in town that are much better. read more

Our go-to sushi place, love it! It would be 5 stars, but more than a few times I've called to put in an order only to be put on hold and completely forgotten about...The other night I waited just to see if they'd ever come back to the phone, but finally hung up after 17 minutes!! But, the food is always great. I always get the Alaska roll, but I prefer it with yellowtail rather than salmon and that's never an issue. My wife likes the Tataki special roll, and I think it's excellent as well. I've tried most everything else too and I've never been disappointed by the quality and the care they put into the food. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch. Sushi lunch and Korean BBQ beef they were both VERY good. We had asparagus with garlic, very tasty but not bold. The miso was unremarkable. We shared both lunches. I went here the night before my marathon to load up on carbs. They have happy hour between 11 AM and 7 PM, I think. There are a few rolls that are 20% during this time. I ended up getting one of the rolls from the HH menu - I forget the name but it had salmon, crab, and cucumber. The fish to rice ratio was on point and the fish was fresh enough (not the best that I ever had, but still pretty good), but it was topped with some sweet and sour sauce. I've never had that sauce anywhere else before, so I'm not exactly sure what it was. I think the roll would have tasted much better without it. I also got an unagi and avocado roll which was pretty tasty for only $6. There was a little too much sauce on it as well though. All in all, I think that Sushi Ai is the best sushi place on 2nd St. It's not the best sushi ever, but it's still tasty and will satisfy your sushi craving. I think the rolls would benefit from less sauce. Maybe I will try just sashimi or nigiri the next time that I come by. The employees are friendly and the service is great. This place has been my go to for the past few months. The servers are beyond friendly and remember their clientele. Jordan, Tina and Georgie are the main servers that provide me with personable, attentive and consistently superb service, but you honestly couldn't go wrong with anyone else! My recommendations food wise would be to start with the Korean ribs, for an entree go with the garlic Hawaiian roll, seafood udon, or the poke bowl. The ice cream mochi is a great way to end the visit. Thank you for always providing me with terrific service and food, that's why I always come back. read more

After years of being a staple on 2nd St, Sushi Saurus has been bought out by new owners and now we have Sushi Ai. We decided to check it out and there are a few changes in decor, the menu and overall atmosphere. It's definitely louder than it used to be and it almost kind of has a nightclub feel with the dimmed lighting and music. Service was efficient since we had three different people taking care of us. We were immediately greeted with complimentary miso soup. The menu is typical and they have Sapporo on draft in pints or pitchers. We went with the usual edaname, two sushi rolls and halibut. Portions were as expected and the edaname was of a good amount. The halibut was eh, but my biggest issue (and the main reason for the 3 star review) was that the rice used to make the sushi rolls was overly moist. This meant that when you went to pick up a piece with your chopsticks, it would immediately start falling apart. So overall, it was an OK experience. I think I'll stick with Sushi on Fire. read more

I went bike riding earlier today with my boyfriend and his brother. My boyfriend suggested to his brother to find a place to eat. He was craving sushi and I remembered there was one sushi place across from a Thai restaurant that we usually go to.(Please see review for Thai Gourmet), but it was okay. As we walked along 2nd street, I discovered the place and asked if we could try it out. The first thing that caught my eyes were those red decorations hanging outside and I was glad it was a dog friendly patio. I was on my way toward the restroom; I was greeted by 11 frames of Hello Kitty. It was rather cute, although she isn't my favorite Sanrio character and it was clean for just a one bathroom stall. As I made my way back outside, I had to stop by the mural painting on the wall. It was rather beautiful and different than any other Japanese restaurant that I've been to even though it was Korean owned. And I can't forget about those pastel colored umbrellas hanging on top of the ceiling. It's a nice touch to the dim atmosphere. Alright, on with the food. Brother and I both ordered the lunch special spicy chicken. It was only $8.95 and it comes with chunks of chicken, topped with teriyaki and sesame seeds, salad, tempura, rice, an orange slice and four California rolls. Boyfriend had the salmon teriyaki lunch special. We also ordered the spicy garlic edamame and a pitcher of Sapporo ($12.95) to down it all. Our waitress, Sierra, is outstanding! She was so accomodating, friendly, and always checked up on us periodically. She brought back a large bottle of Sapporo (on the house) before our food arrived and she mentioned to us that they needed to replace the keg while we waited. And that spicy garlic edamame was off the chain! That fried garlic was to die for. We were very pleased and stuffed with our dining experience here. Man this place sucked so bad lol my friends and I came here yesterday Sunday evening to eat and drink . After being seated after a short Weight , the service got sooo bad. We didn't get our order taken for about 30 mins . No one came to our table, we had to wave people down to come help us. After that they brought no chop sticks for another 10 mins lol they brought our food with no soy sauce or wasabi. I've always eaten at different sushi places down on 2nd street so I thought I would give this place a try... And glad i did. The sushi chefs were a riot... Very funny and interactive. My waiter Vincent was sooo sweet and attentive and informative... I haven't had a server this good in forever! I ordered the spicy tuna salad and it was delicious... Good portion and very fresh. I don't get why all the restaurants on 2nd street has 4 or 5 stars when it's not always that good. Especially the sushi and Thai place. This place wasn't good. Fish didn't wasn't fresh sushi quality. Please look into getting new suppliers for your fish! Eating at places like this makes me scared of getting sick. I'll recommend not to eat here unless they change the quality of their fish. Absolutely loved my experience eating here! The food was so delicious. The Vegas roll was baked very neat and came to us nice and warm. The Baby Lobster Crunch was tender, served very warm and so good. I always order a Philadelphia roll wherever I eat sushi and this was one of the best Philadelphia rolls I've ever tasted in my life. The sake was super hot and delicious! The server was delightful. She was warm and welcoming which made the experience ever better. Outside seating was cozy with the heat lamp. Also they stay open until 10pm just how it says on the website and Yelp. We had a hard time finding a place that would seat us at 9pm on a Tuesday night on 2nd Street, but got lucky when we stumbled upon this awesome sushi spot! I appreciated how committed they were about food satisfaction because they overcooked a roll by mistake, told me it was on the house and was cooking another one correctly. Sushi Ai is the only one so far to be diligent enough to make sure they get everything right. Appreciate the time they take to make sure orders are correct and also the quality of ingredients. Like this place so much that I went back the following day! Since it is at 2nd st, it's no surprise that the seating capacity is not all that much. Nonetheless, I love the vibe in there. I hate to leave a 3-star review, but work needs to be done here. I'll start with the good. Our food, when it finally came was very good. We ordered Hawaiian Rolls, the Chubby Lobster and the Vegas roll. All of the food was wonderful. The tuna on the Hawaiian rolls was fresh and very tasty. The Chubby Lobster was interested and we all enjoyed it. The Vegas Roll was a mouthwatering adventure for the mouth. Now, the problems. We'll start with the tables. They are so sticky our cups had to be dislodged with every sip. We could tell this had been an ongoing issue as my daughter was able to read several menu items from the remnants that of menus previously stuck to the table. For the record, they are not even using paper menus. They are totally reliant on QR code menus. The service was quite sub-par. The hostess brought us drinks which were empty before any server even greeted us. The food also too far too long to come out based in on how busy they were not. All in all, good food, bad experience. read more

My husband and I just ate here for the first time, and I give this place a 10/10! Everything about this place I love. The music is great, mostly classic rock. The sushi is SO. DAMN. FRESH. The staff and sushi chefs are super nice and polite! The selection of sushi is so great, I wanted to try the whole menu in one sitting. One of the rolls I got was the salmon & mango roll. It was just a million wonderful flavors at once, it was amazing, I definitely recommend it if you like salmon, pineapple and mango.
