    Blue Crab Roll
    Trisha S.

We are locals that love to try different restaurants around the Seal Beach area. We were very excited to see Sushi Hama open tonight so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Premium Sashimi special which included 15 pieces of fish with a cucumber salad on the side, 3 pieces of tempura, and a miso soup. I ordered a house salad on the side (I would pass on this next time, dressing was sparse and not very flavorful) and my boyfriend ordered a Blue Crab roll. The blue crab roll was excellent! The quality of the crab was so fresh and the roll was nice and soft, easy to eat. The premium sashimi was served on a special platter and we enjoyed trying a piece each at the same time and reviewing. All the pieces were good quality and melted in our mouths. We didn't care too much for the salmon since we prefer white fish. The scallops were probably our favorite! The place is small and quaint and only opens for dinner (closed Sundays). Very authentic and highly recommend. The service was very friendly and quick. We just would have liked for someone to tell us what type of fish was being served when we were presented with the premium platter. Other than that, very good experience.

Food 10/10 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance 10/10[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service 10/10 Absolute quality and value best sushi in Seal Beach Anyone complaining about teriyaki beef or chicken.. why are you ordering this at a sushi restaurant come on man go to flame broiler.

    Beef teriyaki--WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
    Felino F.

We started with appetizers, which were decent enough. But everything went downhill after that. I ordered the teriyaki beef, and it was honestly terrible. The waiter never asked how I wanted it cooked, and it came out well done, dry, and with a texture that reminded me of overcooked liver. The sauce did not resemble teriyaki at all. It tasted more like a strange blend of A1 sauce and ketchup. Ironically, my daughter's teriyaki chicken was delicious, so it seems I just ended up with the worst dish on the menu. Unfortunately, the service was not any better. After the food was dropped off, the waiter never checked on us, not once to see if we needed anything, even when it was clear I was not eating much. There was no offer to box up leftovers (not that I wanted that beef), and no apology, alternative, or discount when I mentioned how bad the dish was. Overall, a very disappointing meal and experience.

Tuna Sushi and Salmon Sushi. Fresh and melts in your mouth.

Absolutely delicious! Super fresh fish, generous portions and a quaint atmosphere. Hama translates to Hippo. And you'll be sure to eat like one when you dine here. My new local goto sushi place. Check it out!

Bluefin Chu Toro Tuna Sushi, Bluefin O Toro Tuna Sushi

I visited again and the quality was just as good as last time-- still amazing. The bluefin tuna otoro and chutoro still melted in my mouth. We also ordered the Baby Langostino Roll, Salmon and sweet shrimp amaebi, and they were still so good. The crispy rice sushi bites were incredibly crunchy -- I love that texture. The garlic seasoning on the edamame was great, and honestly all the ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. My husband loves salmon and believes that if the salmon is good, the sushi place is good -- and this place is the real deal. I hope this place sticks around for a long time. Highly recommended! Can't wait to come back!

I'm so glad I came back to Hama sushi. Every dish we ordered was super fresh and full of flavor. The sashimi platter was so good. The fish was fresh and buttery. Each piece melted and the light seasoning on top really enhanced the natural flavor without overpowering it. You can truly taste the quality! We ordered several specialty rolls. All of them we ordered had the perfect balance of texture. Unfortunately, we were so excited to eat that I didn't get photos of all the dishes we ordered. But everything that came to the table was great. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit. Great food, great service. I'll definitely be coming back again!

If you are around at seal beach area you should try this place. This place is a total hidden gem -- small, family-run vibe with incredibly fresh sushi. Service was friendly and quick. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. I sat at the sushi bar, and the chef was really nice and even gave me a recommendation that turned out to be amazing. The place itself is cozy and clean, nothing too fancy, but that's part of the charm. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Definitely a go-to spot if you're looking for authentic sushi in the area.

    BAKED MUSSELS

Sushi Hama is honestly the best sushi spot around here. It's my go-to and still my all-time favorite in the area. The fish quality is seriously so good -- super fresh, clean, and just melts in your mouth. You can really tell they care about what they serve. The sashimi is a must. The cuts are thick and generous, and it just hits every time. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole vibe even better. And the portions? So generous. I always leave completely full and happy. It's also the perfect place to grab a glass of sake and just enjoy good food with friends. I've brought so many people here and it has never failed. Everyone ends up loving it. You honestly can't go wrong with anything, but the Langostino Roll is my absolute favorite. If you go, definitely get that -- and don't skip the sashimi. Just try it. You won't regret it. Trust me!!!

    Plastic from food

The Otoro Tuna really saved the day. At $19 for two pieces, it has to be one of my favorite tuna pieces that I have had thats not from Japan! The setting is small but very modern and new! The service was slow because the staff always had to ask the main manager questions at the front. She was clearly running the show, but they had to ask her for everything, and she even rang us up at the end with the check. It's not the biggest deal, but I heavily disliked my rainbow roll. The fish tasted dried out, and I found plastic from a wrapper on my sushi still! That should have been taken care of before it got sent out. Moving forward, they need to handle some of the issues of being a new restaurant but probably would skip out if in the Seal Beach area. The chicken karaage was good, though!

The food and the service is great. It's now our favorite Asian restaurant. You really have to give them a try.

No Live Scallops were available, which displeased my daughter and granddaughter--but not me, because they are one of the most expensive items sold here when in stock. The two disappointed diners were comforted somewhat by two Seal Beach Rolls, while I enjoyed a great Spicy Tuna Roll which did not have overwhelming spiciness. Diane was happy with two orders of All Shrimp Tempura, while I dabbled with one order of Assorted Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura that included great-tasting delicate Sweet Potato, Zucchini, Broccoli, Mushroom and Onion Tempura, besides hot and juicy Shrimp Tempura. Miso Soup was good, as well as a small included salad. As to which dressing is tastier between Ginger and Poppyseed Dressing, I still can't make up my mind. So, as usual, I applied each one to half of the salad. For my chosen entree Sukiyaki was fine--just not as hot as usual. And the portion was large enough to give some to my granddaughter and still have enough food remaining at dinner's end for a likeable lunch the next day. Koi will continue to be my favorite go-to restaurant for non-teppan Japanese cuisine.

Not anything completely different from your usual sushi fare, but the fish is fresh and they have a couple nice specialties. Ambiance is fair - not sure if we went early or if there really just enough room but always just enough people to feel like you're enjoying a nice night out without feeling overwhelmed.

Salmon skin salad: if you like salmon skin, this is yummy. A perfect crunch seasoned really well to complement the bed of greens.
