In the world of sushi, depending on where its from, it's either a hit or a miss. For the record NYC hands down the best sushi but this is florida. I went in a 4PM and had 3 appitizers off the happy hour menu. spicy tuna and california roll and pork shumi. The place was empty and it took forever for my food to come out. Even worse the tuna roll was rice outside not traditional roll. Sushi jo wants to be that "hip" sushi spot with the club music blairing away.\ in the background and serve you strong drinks cause the food is lacking. The pork was good but the sushi , ive had fresher and firmer fish. For $25 it could have been worse but i will seek another place. read more

This is a relatively small local joint that is spotlessly clean and provides excellent service. It's located on a side street in a strip mall, and has counter seating, about six tables inside, and four tables outside. It is part of a small South Florida string of Sushi Jo Restaurants. I was able to get a half price certificate ($12.50) good for $25 on www.localdines.com I have been there 3 times now and have always found the food extremely fresh, beautifully presented, and add ons or deletions are done without a problem. I ordered a dragon roll (I added scallions to it) and a California roll which was more than ample for a single dinner. I am not an alcohol drinker, and their soda only comes by the can which eliminates refills. They do have iced green tea, sweetened or unsweetened, with one refill. I would certainly go back, and I actually plan to tomorrow. The reason for a 4 star instead of 5 star review is based upon a relatively unattractive location for the store, the canned soda, and small nickel and diming for adding scallions to my roll. They charged 50¢ on a $16 roll for the scallions which I thought was petty. read more

I gotta say, before leaving a review I made sure to read a couple pages of reviews to make sure I wasn't the only one feeling the same about the prices and portion. I went here recently during my lunch break with co-workers. There was three of us with one of us ordering from the lunch menu and my boss and I ordering the rolls. Although the food came out fast the sushi looked really tiny. Yes there was definitely more rice than anything else. Also thought the prices were extremely high. Average price was about $16-18 for 8 rolls that really didn't stand out. Honestly these ppl are charging wayyy too much for food that IMO isn't much better than what else is out there. read more

Unfortunately, this review isn't the greatest. It has nothing to do with the service or the ambience. Both were on point and I was surprised to see how much they changed the restaurant. They did a fantastic job on all the details. Just from our opinion meaning my boyfriend and I; we couldn't believe the price. We don't mind paying a lot on good food but not so much on overpriced drinks and sushi that is so over charged. We love sushi and any kind of seafood. I am not sure what happened here or maybe it's because I haven't been here in over six months, but I feel like the prices have changed or I just don't remember how overpriced they were to begin with. My favorite roll I order every time its called,sex on the beach. The slices of lemon make the roll amazing. But when he brought out the roll I was looking around for the rest of it. The rolls are very tiny and not much going on for the whopping $14 or $15 that it cost. The size I thought was a bit smaller than something you'd get at Publix; for half the price. My boyfriend loves wasabi and he puts it on each piece of sushi roll. He was having a hard time understanding why the wasabi was so flaky and some ended getting stuck in his throat which wasn't very pleasant on his end. Tears going down his face I decided to Google cheap wasabi which is pretty funny because 97% of these restaurants don't use wasabi because it's actually harder to harvest and very expensive and wasabi is actually horseradish, mustard and green food coloring. I'm sure I just shocked the hell out of anybody who loves the stuff. We ordered four glasses of house wine $32, sex on the beach roll, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll and a few slices of fish oh and two bowls of misco soup. Total $109. I don't know but call me crazy but we normally spent roughly $70-$80 at other sushi places and we had much larger pieces of sushi. This is a direct quote from my boyfriend but he felt like he was just kicked in the balls. And no, we are not cheap we just prefer not to overpay for something that's mediocre. We will stick with Jacks sushi on Clematis when we are in west palm. I like to change things up but I guess it's better to stick with the places you already know won't disappoint. I'm just so disappointed with how much more they charge for everything when this isn't a fancy place or located downtown. We won't be going back for these reasons. read more

I went to lunch for the second time in 3 days. I ordered the same lunch special the second time as I did two days before. This time I was brought the soup and salad with no utensils to eat the salad. I was given my order of spicy tuna with no soy sauce and dried up pickled ginger. Once I tasted the spicy tuna roll I tasted that it was NOT spicy and did NOT taste anything like tuna. I called the server and told her that I had the same thing 2 days before and that this did not taste the same. She started telling me that they can take back the tuna roll but will need to charge me $13 for the salad and soup. The Lunch special with soup/salad/roll is $14. The made excuses and did not offer any remedy. I asked for the manager. She came with an attitude and they kept on insisting that "no other customer complained" and that they would still have to charge me $13. I am pissed! I said to her, "okay get me the f'ing check so I could pay and leave". She responded by saying she would call the cops on me. She then proceeded to go inside and NEVER brought out the check until the police came. These RACIST people chose to call the cops on me rather than bringing the check I requested. She called to police because I cursed. Where in the law is cursing a reason for police intervention? I never got up. I never motioned to get up. I never even raised my voice, even as I cursed. these people are THE WORSE with their nasty fake sushi read more

We ordered one lobster hand roll with a quail egg and a Turkey melt. We waited an hour. At least four tables were served are and left before we received any food. The drinks were ordered twice and finally came after a half an hour. We did not have napkins or flatware when the food did come. The lobster handroll was nothing special and they cheated with rice. It was served without lemon. Seaweed was soggy. The turkey melt had one thin slice of turkey and bread was not even warm. Terrible experience read more

The best sushi in West Palm by far. We have been going for some 15 years. The sushi is always fresh, their poke bowl is the best I've ever had. The restaurant is small and dark with beautiful pictures on the wall, attractive. The service is polite and quick. The negatives? There is no cooked food, only sushi. Their sushi is by far the best I have had in West Palm Beach! I like to get some simpler rolls but always love when a restaurant has creative dishes too! I believe I went here for dinner and the lobster, the chicken and the beef teriyaki are staples and the dessert was green tea ice tea cream. I am not a big sushi person per se but I enjoyed the restaurant and the food was good so that is really why I only gave it 4 stars (since I am not really a sushi expert). Some of the other people I was with loved it though. It was very popular and the air conditioning was on. There were a variety of beverages to drink and they take credit cards. I almost gave this place 2 stars because it's WAY too overpriced. I have never seen a Spicy Tuna Roll priced at $8, a Spider Roll at $15, and edamame at $5 unless you're in Vegas or downtown LA. What a nice find--- stopped in to the Belvedere Rd. location (1 of 4 in Palm Bch Co.) with 3 friends Sunday afternoon (2 of whom had been there several times & were recognized by our friendly waitress Nongnuch) . The place is small & cozy, a brick wall with big beautiful pics of marine life, and a sushi bar, if you don't need a table. There was a small but adequate wine list & beer is also served, but no cocktails. My friends enjoyed their edamame, veggie spring rolls, miso soup, sashimi, & fried rice, while I was served a huge portion of shrimp/chicken Pad Thai which was the best ever. I took half of it home for the next day, but scarfed it all down before bedtime as it was that good. Also had some very good seaweed salad and one of us (who always keeps her trim figure !) had a super-rich piece of chocolate cake which we all tasted & found to be delicious. Innovative sushi rolls feature macadamia nuts, strawberry, and papaya, which serve as surprising and delicious companions to the more usual suspects. The atmosphere is very urban chic, with club music that provides a nice backdrop to the innovative menu. The chairs leave a bit to be desired. Just sushi at Sushi Jo's so if you are looking for tempura or teriyaki chicken it's not served. I had the Spicy Tuna Hand roll to start, $5.00. Wasn't too thrilled with it since it was minced tuna instead of small chunks the way I like it. But being from Hawaii you get what you get on the Mainland. They also have cold sake but you need to ask for the menu. I had the "Oka" cold sake, which has wonderful bouquet and was very nice. Following the spicy tuna I had the Chirashi, which is sashimi on a bed of rice. The fish was fresh and tasted good; there was a lot of pieces for $21. All dishes were presented very well with good service and I had a very pleasant experience. It is pricey but you get a higher quality fish. BT read more

Recently stayed at Biba across the street for a work trip so I walked over for dinner. Very chill local spot with a great menu. Plenty of sushi options and quality salads.
