The food is good a little pricy for the small portions. But my main concern is the cleanliness. The patio seating is filthy, there is bird droppings outside on the glass and brick wall. The glass looks like it has t been cleaned since they opened. I went in for lunch a few weeks back and sat inside. But you can see how dirty it is outside. Me and my wife came to have lunch last week and you could still see the dirty patio and disgusting bird poop on the glass. When I talked to hostess she said that the manager name (Maria) was too cheap to hire anyone to clean up outside. The layout has so much potential to look amazing but lacks proper management to keep the place clean. Until they hire someone to clean up the place we will not be returning! read more

The good is that the atmosphere is nice and the food/drinks are great and consistent each time I've been there. The bad is while I was on a date, with food on the table, there were members of the staff moving furniture to sweep, mop, and clean tables all around our table and getting things ready to close. It was roughly one hour until closing time so this was unprofessional and unsanitary. Now, I applaud them for keeping the restaurant clean and tidy, but they should definitely wait until all guests have left the restaurant or at least that part of the restaurant before they clean. Went here for lunch with a friend. The menu was varied and creative. The atmosphere is good and our server was very friendly and attentive. My friend and I wanted to catch up, and we were not rushed. The spicy tuna rolls were delicious and better then I have had in the valley. The calamari was so tender, it melted in my mouth. I'm posting this because I care about others. We do a bit of Uber Eats deliveries. For sushi we've been quite pleased with Sushi On but decided to try Sushi Kitto. This was a $75 order before UE's $23 fees so not inexpensive. Spicy Edamame ($15): Not even a hit of spicy and al dente (under-cooked). Shame as edamame isn't difficult. Tempura Deluxe ($21): Here we were the most disappointed. The tempura batter was thick, like pancake batter. But worse (and that's saying something) it was sweet. Tempura batter should be light, and crisp, and definitely not sweet! Signature Sushi Rolls (Spicy Garlic Yellowtail, and Awasome rolls) ($50 total): Overall they weren't "bad" per se, but there was nothing remarkable here. When we pay for a "signature" roll, we expect an experience of culinary joy. Neither of these rolls excited in any way. They fell apart with our chopsticks and were generally "limp." That may be hard to understand but if you know good sushi, there's a certain "crispness" to it in both the seafood itself and in the overall assembly. Two rolls didn't hit this mark at all. They were not unhealthy nor unsafe; they just failed to inspire in any way. I (we) never bash a restaurant. If you're reading this, know that it was "bad enough" (for the very high expense) that I would take the time to write this. Caveat Emptor. read more

We got some excellent take-out sushi here! Cute ambience inside and would definitely love to come back and dine in at some point. Food was ready quickly and service was great. We enjoyed some salmon sashimi, a salmon roll and a salmon avocado roll. The fish was very fresh and tasty and the items were reasonably priced. There was a small bone in one of the salmon sashimi pieces but I just picked it out and moved on eating, wasn't a problem, just something to look out for. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Last night in town for our daughter, she wanted sushi. We settled on Sushi Kitto as it was right up the street and had some good reviews. Waitress took our order, and that was about the last we heard from her. It took at least 20 min to deliver our Diablo Roll, which was pretty good. No wasabi or ginger had to ask for that. We finished the roll, and waited for our combo plates. 10 minutes later we asked about our food from a busser, he give us each a bowl of rice. Great, our food must be coming right out. Wrong. We sat and sat and not one person gave us an update on our order. Our waitress walked by several times and said nothing.........and she walked far enough away from the table I wasn't going to flag her down. She should have come to our table without being asked. I finally asked the busser for the manager. I explained the situation, the absolutely awful service from her waitress who flat out ignored us after we ordered, the lone bowl of rice, that it had been over ONE HOUR since we ordered, etc... She saw the time we ordered and agreed it was ridiculous, she offered to pick up the tab, we agreed I would pay for the Sake and roll. We got our meals. 2 of them had chicken teriyaki that was dry and flavorless. Tempura was ok. Nigiri was ok and the rice underneath it was awful. Thank God it was comped, it wasn't that good. If I ever go back, and that's a major if, I would sit at the Sushi bar as the sushi roll was quite good. A thoroughly disappointing experience. read more

We went for the Happy hour at 3pm on a Friday. I'd been thinking about fried oysters for weeks. Being a Seattle native you get spoiled on the great seafood. I ordered them and miso for a starter. oysters small, but Excellent. The place is well decorated. Service personable, server..very responsive. The happy hour gets you a buck off your regular or specialty cut rolls. A couple bucks off a large draft beer. The tempura shrimp and scallop rolls were great...so fresh! Wife had beef teriyaki bowl, soup, and a tempura shrimp roll. She was happy! With all we ordered it was over a hundred with a tip for oysters, miso, 3 rolls. It was worth it! You get plenty, served well, good environment, took some home! I really liked this place...the menu is huge, and delicious. Be prepare to drop some cash here though. read more

I visited Sushi Kitto last night and can say that it is good. There is room for improvement, but overall good. I have been waiting for this place to open but was wondering about the name since Sushi On (on Jefferson) used to be called Sushi Kitto. In an attempt to figure out the relationship I did some comparing of Sushi Kitto menu/decor to Sushi On and to Dragon Sushi on 111. As far as I can tell (based on menu and graphic similarities) Sushi Kitto is a spin-off of Dragon Sushi. Sushi On is probably independent and simply took over when the first Kitto failed. Good news because Dragon Sushi was one of my local favorites for their AYCE sushi bar happy hour and relative quality for the price. Bad news because post-pandemic DS has not been great. Dragon has always been a kid friendly place. People bring their kids and the kids go crazy at the table using their chopsticks as drumsticks and so on. One could look past this if you sat at the sushi bar because the tables were a ways away. Not so since COVID. Neither place has a sushi bar anymore and although Kitto has a "bar bar" the tables are close at hand. Kitto will do well if they figure out a way to keep adults happy, keep the quality up and if the rent is not too high. I certainly hope that they do. read more

With Sushi in its name, the star of this restaurant is indeed the sushi. I watched as plate after plate of beautifully crafted and delightfully plated sushi were wisked from prep to table. But I wasn't there for sushi. In fact, I won't eat the stuff. I was there in search of cooked food; tempura, teriyaki, and Bau Buns. I found them here! I wish I could say the above items were as delightful as the sushi looked, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. The tempura shrimp and veggies were coated in a batter more like beer batter than crispy tempura coating. Perhaps the items needed to be cooked at a higher temperature. The taste was good but the texture was off. No "crisp" crunch when eaten. The teriyaki chicken was a big disappointment. The chicken breast (most places use thighs) was extremely dry, lacked color and taste. A very small drizzle of sauce was poured over breast. It looked like the breast had been boiled and then heated up before serving. There wasn't any taste to it. The Bau Buns looked beautiful when served, but like the chicken, they lacked flavor. The BBQ Pork (not Char Su) was dry and the Buns themselves were cold like they were taken out of the fridge before assembling. The Buns could use a warm sauce in them to add flavor and warmth. Will we go back? Sure. In a couple of months to see what improvements have been made and to support our local business. A newly opened restaurant has growing pains and I'd like to see Sushi Kitto survive in a sector of the city of Indio that needs actual restaurants and no more fast food places. read more

Great new sushi bar in North Indio! It was a long time coming but worth the wait. Went there on their Friday opening night and was glad to see the psp work paid off well. The interior is nicely decorated with sleek modern design with cherry blossom accents throughout the dining room. We were immediately warmly greeted and seated. Our waitress checked in with us promptly and took our drink order. She was knowledgeable about the menu which was appreciated. The beer and sake were delivered quickly. The spicy garlic endamame came out shortly thereafter and was delicious. The Diablo and Spicy Garlic Yellowtail were awesome. Oysters on the half shell were good too. Very fresh fish, excellent tempura, crisp veggies and amazing sauces. They have plenty of tvs throughout the restaurant, long sushi bar and plenty of outdoor patio seating with misters for dining outside in the cooler months. Check this place out if you like sushi! It took a long time for this restaurant to open up but when it did I was anxious to give it a try. This restaurant has been a few things before from a sports bar to an Italian restaurant and now to a sushi place. A friend and I came on a Saturday mid-day and we were happy to see a good amount of customers already there. I am here to say that I'm not a sushi connoisseur but I am learning to enjoy it. I usually stay away from anything raw but I am spreading my wings nowadays! I ended up having the Firecracker rolls and classic Philadelphia rolls. In addition both of us ordered a small side salad. Waited awhile for this place to open! They have a lot of options, unique. The service was good. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. I love the fresh albacore and this place had it. We ordered a few items to go and ate there also. The server go some of it confused but we said it was okay, we will just eat it out of the to box.
