The soy paper salmon was beautiful to look at and tasted great. I preferred the rainbow roll to the paradise roll. Gyoza were average. My dining companion loved his tempura ice cream, which involved a very generous scoop of green tea ice cream served in fried dough that he said tasted like a funnel cake, with plenty of whipped cream. While I don't mind paying a premium for good sushi, I'm not down when I'm paying sugar fish price for sushi that reminds me of supermarket sushi. - Quality. The shrimp and veggie tempura was down right terrible. Asparagus was so fibrous it's inedible. The two shrimp are slightly thicker than my pinky. For the price tag on this dish it is basically robbery. The Long Beach roll, advertised as snow crab filling, it taste and look more like imitation crab. Only redeeming quality was the yellow tail on top that's rather fresh. The baked scallop roll was the one that made me very sad. The topping was very dry with almost no sauce, it was almost over baked so the scallops were very tough. The sushi that the scallops sits on is filled with burdock which doesn't really work on a baked scallop roll. Most places do it with imitation crab, but here everything on the plate is hard and crunchy, nothing really work together on this roll. read more

It's located on a bustling corner of Belmont shore and has indoor seating, a small outdoor eating area (very small), and does take out. That being said, the sushi itself was not the best. It was a little harder and not as flavorful as sushi should be. Yet another slightly above average sushi spot in Belmont Shore. My biggest gripe with this place is the complete lack of ambiance and conflicting decor. Is it a sports bar? Is it a beachy cafe? The decor looks haphazard and desperately needs work. The menu is concise and traditional, including a good variety of specialty rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. They have a few entrees like Katsu, Curry, and Udon as well. Decent wine and Japanese beer list, with a few choices on draft. I got the only vegetarian options-a Vegetable Roll and the Vegetable Tempura. The roll was small but delicious, including a fantastic combination of fresh and pickled vegetables-cucumber, asparagus, yamagobo, avocado, and daikon. The vegetables in the tempura were perfectly cooked, but the batter was too thick and lacked the crisp finish that a good tempura should have. My boyfriend ate $80 worth of fish and felt all of it was sub-par in quality and taste. @ Sushi has been open for less than 2 months, so hopefully they will improve the aesthetics of the place, and refine the menu a bit, because they certainly have potential. We may give them another shot in the future, but are in no rush to return. read more

Came here with my sister after reading some reviews & they did not disappoint! We were put on a waitlist for 2 and it did not take very long to get seated. It is a smaller place but they had some outside seating as well. Man at the door was so nice and updated us constantly when we would be seated. The meal was amazing. Every bite of sushi and sashimi was incredibly fresh and tasty! We had a flat beer and they switched it out for us and gave us the large beer bottles and apologized. I hate to be that person but i couldn't resist taking a picture of our food because it was definitely Instagram worthy! On top of being taste approved, the owners' genuine pride in his restaurant is unmatched! He doesn't just serve food, but creates an artsy experience for his customers by explaining the region of the imported fish being served . Lastly but certainly not least, i must rave about the server Monse! Monse was the most AMAZING server EVER! She was extremely attentive in making sure we had everything we needed before we even requested it. She was friendly, professional, efficient, and just an overall pleasure to speak with. Although she was masked we could literally feel her smiling, and that type of service is rare.
