First of all I will say that it's a nice place to eat sushi at, I would recommend it to many of my friends but keep in mind that this place doesn't have as many sushi selections as other places may have. The sushi was great but limited choices. Also it was a bit pricey for the sushi compared to other places I've been at. But it was a good place for me to take my girlfriend to. The service was great, the waitress let us choose where to sit and came to us multiple times to pick up plates not in use and asked if we needed anything else. I personally had the Chuck Norris and Rainbow, both were pretty good although the Rainbow did have a weird taste to it but it was my first time having the Rainbow so it makes sense for me to not be used to eating that one. The Chuck Norris was definitely tasted but it was a bit spices haha, definitely enjoyable though! It was about $16 I think for the Chuck Norris though so a bit pricey! read more

We discovered Sushi Lounge in Poway and were told they were opening up one in our Point Loma neighborhood. And a few months ago attended their opening week. The rolls are fun and imaginative. My hunny likes spicy and is happy that there are a lot spicy options such as the Jaimepeno which is a jalapeño stuffed with spicy albacore and krab. And the Ring of Fire which is a roll with albacore, serrano chili, spicy krab, yellowtail, avocado, and topped with fried jalapeño. It has some serious heat to it! I go for the Happy Wife roll because I've heard "you are what you eat". I wouldn't think that tempura sweet potato would be good in a roll, but it works along with spicy yellowtail, salmon, albacore, avocado, thin slices of jalapeño on top, and truffle "happy wife" sauce. Every experience here has been good. The service is friendly and attentive. The sushi is fresh and done well. We always look to see what their specialty roll of the month is because it's usually really good. I'm always craving sushi so I'm happy to have Sushi Lounge close to home. read more

I will definitely be going back, There were probably 10 other items on the menu I wanted to try! Sure wish they would do rotating tasting plates every once in a while. I know it's impossible but I always want to try new items without dropping $15 on something I may not like. But that's an ongoing sushi issue for me. We also had some sake's I had never tried before. And I love anywhere that has unfiltered sake! Definitely give it a try and actually probably give it to try it because there's so many interesting things on the menu. So we booked a reservation for Nowsushi and they looked like they weren't going to be able to handle the four tables they had plus my wife and myself so we left and came to Sushi lounge. We walked up and they found us a table at its busiest time in 20-25 minutes. We sat down and you could see everyone working their behinds off to try and take care of everything. The Miso soup I ordered came out first and was amazing. Edamame came out next and was decent but nothing fancy. My wife and I ordered 2 specialty rolls a piece and they were delicious. My wife is allergic to Gluten and every roll on their menu could be made gluten free and that made her feel very welcomed and like her allergy wasn't an issue. Overall service was fantastic and food matched. Definitely coming here again before we head back to Nevada. read more

This place has a good happy hour menu and their sashimi is very good. I think we will be switching here as our go to place for sushi. Parking is a bit difficult and sometimes the place can get a bit noisy. The food is really good for a non-authentic Japanese Restaurant. Came by in a group of 5 on a Saturday evening. There's lots of street parking and the restaurant was not busy at all. My friends and I ordered appetizers: CALAMARI, MISO SOUP, and GARLIC EDAMAME. The appetizers were so good. The garlic edamame is probably one of the best I've had in a while. I was feeling like vegetarian sushi, so I ordered the GREEN MONSTER and DOUBLE CRUNCH. The Green Monster was ok; I thought it was a little bland. The Double Crunch, however, was actually pretty good; It had cream cheese, tempura flakes, and sweet soy sauce which gave it it's flavor and texture. The food was not bad at all and the restaurant has a little patio which would be perfect in the summer. Definitely love to see when sushi restaurants offer more vegetarian options rather than just your standard avocado roll or cucumber roll. Our first visit the place was 1/3 full at best on a Friday night and though we asked for a server 3 times we were ignored. We got up to leave after waiting 25 minutes hangry. I asked for manager who halfheartedly apologized. A week later we decided to give it another try. The young but very friendly server hardly knew menu and forgot our sunomono salad till end of night and got a roll wrong. By the time the right one came we were long done with dinner the night was ruined. As others have said their prices are too high for the quality, they don't use proper sushi rice and service is truly lacking consistency or attention. So sorry to have to write the is review. We've been coming here for years and for a long time it was really good but this evening it was really not edible. We got the chefs sashimi plate and the fish did not seem fresh at all. My favorite is ahi and there was something really wrong with it. The halibut was inedible. The sushi roll that came with my daughter's bento box was the grossest roll I've even tried to taste. They were out of both the starters we wanted to order. Even the service was terrible. Our waiter disappeared for a long time. I don't know if someone new is managing this place or what. Our party discussed maybe giving it one more chance since we once loved it but we just can't. We just got home from here and all we could talk about was how much we enjoyed our dinner. We had the Jamiepeno to start and knew right away we were in for a treat! The Tsunami Tataki was amazing! I wanted to take the sauce on it home. Instead I dipped everything I could find in sight in it. We also had the Ring of Fire. The chef suggested we tone the spiciness down a bit and pulled back some of the peppers on it. This roll had the freshest smell to it. Definitely want full force spiciness next time. Miso soup was very watery- a teaspoon more miso might have been a step in the tight direction. Wasabi (which I love) was dry and crumbly aling with "fresh" ginger-which was dry as well. Both should be moist. If they prepared these to order they might not be sitting around to dry out‍. Wow! I love this place and would give them 10 stars if I could. I came in on a slow afternoon and so was completely spoiled by the friendly staff. They all made me feel like family.
