Staff and environment: The staff was very welcoming and visited our table a couple times to make sure we had everything we needed! Sushi: The sushi was pretty good. We ordered the Crunch Roll and Super California Roll. Both were pretty good but I could've passed on the sweet sauce that was on the crunch roll. Dinner plate: We ordered one chicken & gyoza bento box. The soup was good, not as hot as I would've like but had good flavor... it also had pieces of tofu. We continue to come here because of the excellent service and fresh raw fish! Great selection of raw and cooked Japanese cuisine. We love the sashimi and Little Bombs appetizer. Our favorite special rolls are the Tiger Eyes Roll, Eternal Sunshine, Crazy Roll, and 2 and 1 just to name a few. For kids that don't eat sushi their kids bento boxes are great! We always get greeted well and Artie is a really great waiter always on top of our order! They also now serve beer on tap and pitchers!!! This just Made the place a lot more fun for big groups! Excellent! Excellent service, food and prices. Makes me wonder if this place has any affiliation with Ninja Sushi in Gilroy because one of the sushi chefs looks like a co-owner of Ninja. I wouldn't be surprised if he did branch out... It was a quiet night and noticed a lot of phone orders being placed so I'm sure they do get busy. The atmosphere was welcoming, the decor is modern and very clean! The food: Nigiri: Sake (salmon) was so fresh tasting! It was a generous slice, so definitely a double biter. The Unagi had so much flavor and just melted in my mouth. The Red Dragon had shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber - inside and tuna with a spicy mayo on the outside. Lots of flavor and textures and the tempura didn't loose it's crunch. My husband ordered a Dragon Roll and a Victoria Secret roll (go-figure). Looked amazing but did not try. The Victoria Secret roll was topped with yellow tail or hamachi and macadamia nuts. He thoroughly enjoyed his picks. All in all, a nice dinner experience and happy to know Morgan Hill has a bigger sushi restaurant unlike Creasian. read more

My friend and I decided to check out this new Japanese restaurant in Morgan Hill for lunch. We had a good experience here. I had the saba shioyaki lunch bento (see the picture). The saba was very good! It was a very big piece. It also came with a salad, some vegetables, rice, and a miso soup. The salad dressing wasn't bad, but was a little too sweet for me. The miso soup was good. It was interesting that they serve the bento on a plate rather than a "bento box", which is a little different from other Japanese restaurants. But of course there's nothing wrong with that. My friend got the beef teriyaki and sashimi bento, and she liked hers as well. We did not have any problems with the service. Everyone was very nice and friendly. It didn't take long to get the food at all. They seem to be getting the bad reviews for the service, but they JUST opened a little over a month ago. Why not right, I've only been here 3 times in 1 week. Anyway, the guy proceeds to scold me and tell me the tables by the window are for parties of 4 or more. Turns out the white couple sitting right next door in extra large table also are a party of 2 only but I guess they are special since Big Daddy didnt throw them out. Anyway, turns out this prick is the owner. This guy needs to understand he's bad for his own business. Suggest you stay away from this place and go to Hinami Sushi down the street instead where they know your name and treat you as a valued customer. You have been warned! read more

Great sushi and great service. Every time I come in here I get the same waiter. He is so nice and very attentive. Sushi is good and fresh. They start you off with complimentary edamame, which is lovely, but I always order an additional one. I think the Grinch, the 911 and the Angelina Jolie are my favorite rolls, thus far. I went here to order for to go the other day, I understand that they don't allow customers inside the store due to social distancing, so they asked me to be seated outside and so i did. They have like 6 tables outside and few customers that time. When a bunch of customers came in and here comes the 2 staff rushing to get my chair and table and asked me to wait in the corner and stand. Awful service..girl seemed completely incompetent and the guy server seemed so annoyed just by our presences. We waited at-least 15 mins for anyone to come over and ask if we wanted drinks, we waited 30 mins for our appetizers, and I had to ask for chopsticks and silverware after the food came. I thought maybe we just came at a bad time but looking at the other reviews, bad service seems to be unanimous. THE FOOD IS BOMMMMB however. Save your money and appetite for another spot. The food was awful. Starting with the green salad, the iceberg lettuce was either yellow or white. There was nothing green about the "green" salad. The Don's Special Roll, JJ's Special Roll, Grinch, 2N1 are some of our favorites!! Don and JJ are great Sushi Chefs. Don even makes his own sauces and Miso soup. My husband and I go almost every week. We love the atmosphere and everyone is so friendly. We enjoy hanging out at the sushi bar and enjoying saki bombs. Sushi Nara is a new sushi restaurant in Morgan Hill located where Sal's Pizza used to be in Vinyard Town Center. They are in a great location and the only sushi on the South end of town (As long as we don't count Safeway and Knob Hill Deli Sushi) I had been waiting for them to open and I made my first visit at lunch. The restaurant is clean and bright inside. There are lots of windows. I took a seat at the sushi bar. I ordered a Spider Roll ($7.95), and a Scallop Delight Roll($12.95). The prices seem in line with other sushi places in the area. I love spider rolls and it is one of my "test" rolls when trying new sushi places. I also love spicy scallop rolls from my usual sushi place in town. The spider roll was good. There is nothing in a spider roll to get overly excited about to begin with. But it was well made, the crab was cooked well and stayed crunchy. Some spider rolls are soggy, or when you try to pick up up, it falls apart. This roll was neither. So they passed the spider roll test. Onto the Scallop Delight. This roll is essentially a shrimp tempura roll (Shrimp tempura, Avocado, Cucumber) with spicy scallops on top. I am not sure where the "delight" comes into play. There are not enough scallops to really get that subtle nutty flavor. The scallops are esstentially mushed into the top of the roll. And there is not enough spice in the "spicy". I am not someone that has to have everything at 5,000 skoville units. But I should at least be able to tell there is some "spicy" in there somewhere. So what I had was a tempura roll with some scallops loitering in the flavor field without really contributing much. It needs more scallops and more flavor. The fish looked fresh. The chefs appear skilled. The wait staff needs some work. After my initial order and tea, the waiter never checked on me again or offered to refill my tea. I would say that overall it looks promising. They are brand new. The wait staff needs some training. The menu needs a little tweaking. They are in a good location. And this area has a lot of sushi lovers. So they get 3 starts for now partially on future potential. Prices overall seem inline with other sushi places around town. They offer lunch specials. So we had some really poor experiences at Nara in the first year that they were open and my original review is reflective of that. About a year ago I heard from a couple of friends that it was really good. So, back we went and much to or pleasant surprise it really had improved quite a bit. We used to go to Hanami very often but Nara is our restaurant of choice these days. Everything is good and fresh, definitely what I'd call a "Korean" style sushi restaurant rather than a traditional Japanese one, but I enjoy both styles very much. My only complaint is that at times the owner's son helps out with waiting tables/bussing. I'm sure he's probably a nice kid but he really doesn't have mature people skills. I'll leave it at that and just say that if it were up to me I'd have him working in the kitchen until he grows up a little more :) read more

I have been here dozens of times and I always leave with a smile on my face and a belly full of goodness. I think I have tried every roll on the menu and none has disappointed. My Wife and Kids love this place as well, My son devours his chicken teriyaki bento box and My Wife cant miss with the Salmon and Tempura. I personally enjoy the Ono and any of their rolls, my go to rolls are the Dragon Roll, Victorias Secret and Don's Special Roll.
