My sushi came not even wrapped so the ingredients fell apart out of the roll. The rice was mushy and the shrimp was inedible. I ended up throwing it all away. If I could get my money back I would. I liked the crab cake tempura, which was described as "Lumpback crab, crab stick and cream cheese rolled and deep fried to perfection." It was very tasty but the pieces were just a little bit too big for bite size and didn't work well for biting in half. Still, delicious. This is the best sushi on this side of the Mississippi River. The spicy tuna immediately melts into ecstasy as it touches your mouth. It is almost a disgrace to soil this gift from the gods with soy sauce. Michelle Obama comes here often and she claims the philly roll here is the key to her great arms. I've been in the mood for sushi for a while and I always love to try new places. In noticing a friend who posted a pic and an awesome deal my mouth began to salivate. I. Must. Try. NOW! Enter thee broham and off to lunch we go. Located in the Kings Contrivance Shopping Center, it is on the opposite side of the Harris Teeter, right in between the M&T Bank and the BoA. It is open for lunch, closes at around 2:30p and opens again for dinner. Quaint restaurant with about ten or so tables. On this date, there were about two additional parties, one server, and one sushi chef. Here is where I win. The lunch special is awesome. For ten bucks you get a soup, salad, ten pieces of sushi and one roll. Now what now? Of course, there are pre-selected rolls and pieces of sushi, but it is an awesome value nonetheless. The roll that I chose is easily ten bucks alone. I selected several pieces of sushi; from tuna, salmon, to white tuna, octopus....and of course a rainbow roll. After placing the order the server brought out the miso soup and the salad, in addition to FREE edamame. The miso soup was alright, the salad, wasn't my fave, but honestly it never really is. I'm really picky regarding the ginger dressing. This dressing, IMHO is slightly thicker than I prefer. Now, this was my first taste of edamame, with nothing to compare it to, it was quite delicious. Fair amount of salt, but it took some effort getting the beans out. Here comes the main course! #nommers! I must say, the sushi was fresh and quite delicious! I was less than thrilled with the seaweed salad, as I thought I was going to get a seaweed salad, rather than a seaweed salad roll (oops). The crab stick was less to be desired a well. The others though, tuna, white tuna, octopus, salmon, and shrimp were awesome. The rainbow roll, just how I like it! YES! Broham and I were in a trying mood, so next we ordered the mochi ice cream, this is ice cream with a sweet rice cake coating. The order came with six halved pieces, we tried mango and vanilla. The ice cream itself was yummy, I didn't care for the rice cake coating. I think it was mostly textural for me, somewhat gelatinous even. This place is awesome. I came here for lunch with my brother and a friend today. It's located in a shopping center about 10 min from Columbia mall. They have an amazing lunch special where you can get 10 pieces of nigiri (and they have like 20 to choose from) and a maki roll (including rolls like shrimp tempura, etc) for $10. This comes with a choice of a salad or miso soup and free edamame as well!! When the sushi came out it was fresh and I was really happy with the variety available. I could see that it was a popular lunch spot as people were coming in at a pretty steady flow during the time that they were there. Easy parking with a shopping center. Tons of options. The food gets 4 stars. The sushi rolls were amazing and fresh. They were not just stale rolls of rice covered in sauce. However, the customer service was appalling. We ordered online for takeout. My husband goes to pick it up, he gives his name and the man at the front desk asked him to prove that he ordered and paid for the food already. He asked for an email confirmation. Their system does not give an email confirmation. The man holds our already paid for food hostage. A lady comes out of the back and asks for my husband's name and to list off what he ordered. She finally hands over the bag. Now, my husband doesn't have the most common first and last name and it isn't the most unique either, but common practice is for the staff to ask for your name and what you ordered or name and they tell you what was ordered. The whole experience smells of racial profiling, but I will let you all be the judge. read more

Really want to support small business during these challenging times, but this is the 5th time we have given a fair shot to Sushi Nari. We have eaten in pre-Covid and the rolls were of the same quality we have been receiving this past year with our carry out orders. During our order today, spicy tuna was a part of 3 rolls. It seemed like something was slightly off with it - not having much freshness to it. My wife and I only had a couple pieces each and decided the fish in these rolls were not at peak freshness. The only part of our order that was great was the salmon sashimi. Aside from the fish being served past ideal freshness, the amount of rice used in rolls is overkill. The sushi was delicious but the noodles were meh. They said soba or udon, requested udon, got soba. I asked for extra pickled ginger and some Chinese hot sauce and received neither and only 3 packets of soy sauce for 12 pieces of sushi. This restaurant is such a hidden gem. Given the lackluster interior decor and shortage of space/seating, you would really think that the food would taste--for a lack of better words--like gas station sushi. However, this restaurant has literally some of the best sushi I've ever had in my life, for a steal of a price. Service is great, food is supreme, and prices are just right. We had sushi delivered last night from Sushi Nari and we were very disappointed with our order. The Nari Special which is around $18 had completely raw shrimp on top. Not sort of cooked. Just raw. EDIT: Unfortunately, I have to edit my review. While the waitstaff are still wonderful here, and lunch specials are quite good, the place got new management a couple months ago and has since declined somewhat. For example, I used to come here for Salmon Don dinner take out all the time, however now there is a much smaller portion of fish in the dinners (About 40% smaller portion - fewer and thinner slices, not enough for an adequate meal). The lunch nigiri fish is also sliced thinner as well, and prices have been increased slightly. I've also noticed that significantly less edamame is given at lunch as well during lunch/dinner dine in, and this was one of the things that made the place stand out. I'm keeping at four stars because I feel loyalty to the lovely chefs and waitstaff. However, I've dropped from being a regular who came here once a week, to only coming in once every few months. :( I go to other sushi places now that have better portion sizes + prices. I hope the management recognizes these errors and things are back on track to how they used to be! read more

After I placed my order, she presented me with the hot tea I requested plus complementary edamame (lovely). Once I concluded my meal, they served me a slightly chilled cinnamon tea (complementary). I tried using sushi Nari online site to order and yelp and ran into issues. The platform on yelp is a dollar or so more for certain rolls, but the online platform on their website had a few bugs which made it impossible for me to place my order. (Specifically: it kept asking for my delivery address when I was picking up and wouldn't accept my online coupons) other than online hiccups, this place has very good quality sushi and great service! Highly recommend the yummy yummy roll! Lastly, service during the COVID-19 pandemic is very considerate. My favorite local hole in the wall sushi place. I had at one point gotten takeout from here, and remember thinking it was decent but having had a chance to dine in with my family recently was struck by the freshness and quality of the fish and how warm and welcoming the service and atmosphere was. I ordered some nigiri a la carte (salmon, ikura, unagi, hamachi,) and a spicy scallop roll. It ended up being a tremendous amount of food. The shrimp tempura appetizer was also very hot and fresh. I definitely prefer a place like this with a comfortable family run atmosphere to the majority of flashy sushi places you find around Central Maryland, as the quality and price just tends to be better, and this was no exception. As someone who lived in Japan for a number of years, Sushi Nari is a great place to get authentic and tasty dishes (along with some Korean additions)! The specialty rolls are clever and appealing to non-Japanese palettes. Importantly, THE FISH IS GREAT QUALITY. I'm thankful for that, because not all sushi chefs care. Nice variety of alcohols, sizable hot meal portions, and a very tentative staff! We once dined there with a drunkenly violent dude (hashtag men ruin everything), but amidst his inebriated tantrum and nearly hitting my partner while wildly swinging his arms about, we got our food to go. I came with a group of friends and my friends took quite a while to decide what they wanted, the servers were very patient in going through recommendations and explaining each sushi that they asked for. The sushi was delicious! I enjoyed the tea they brought to us at the end, very refreshing. The hot tea is also complimentary which is a plus! I enjoyed the Cherry Blossom roll, and tried the Nari special (so good), the Lover (also good but my least fave out of the ones I tried). The dynamite roll was also delicious. I wrote my original 5 Star review in 2017, and have been watching this place slowly go downhill ever since. The sushi has gotten noticeably smaller and less fresh over the years - the preparation more inconsistent - and the service more surly. It used to be a such a pleasure to eat here - now, not so much! It has become just another strip center carry-out with sub-par food, and a sub-par attitude to match. In our order yesterday, the gyoza was almost inedible as it was over-fried and hard. Nasty! I asked for "extra" soy sauce, and all we got was 2 very teeny-tiny packets (in total!) for our entire order - and only one set of chopticks/utensils! The sushi rolls were barely worth the money. The final straw was the order of miso soup which was nothing but broth when we got it home - no tofu, no scallions - nothing! I've gotten miso soup here many times so we thought it HAD to be a mistake.... I stopped by there today to inquire, and was told "we don't have tofu anymore, or scallions" "only broth" - What??? Even the pictures of the miso soup on their menu have tofu and scallions.... Needless to say, we will be heading back to Sushi King for decent food and service from now on! Sad! read more

I finally found myself at this place and it should have come much sooner. Wow....the portions, the quality, the friendliness of staff....this was shocking. Tucked away in a little plaza near a Harris Teeter this place is well worth seeing out. I did order carry out but that didn't take away from my interactions with staff or the quality of the food (since most didn't make it home). I ordered the pink lady roll, Vitamin C, Salmon Paradise and Yummy Yummy. First the pink lady roll was a meal in itself, it was huge! I loved that roll but my favorite part was how good the quality of tuna was inside. At that point, I knew that I had made a mistake and that I should've ordered nigiri. I always worry with places that I've never been to, but the quality here is very good. The rest of the rolls followed suit and were very different. Each executed perfectly and the fish was sliced to perfection. My regret, not getting nigiri and not sitting to eat.
