A hidden gem in South Lake Tahoe! The parking lot on the North side is under construction and a little ugly. But don't let that deter you, just park on the South side of the restaurant. This place has an ALL YOU CAN EAT sushi deal. And its NOT cheap sushi. PRO-TIP: Go at lunch for the all-you-can-eat deal. Its $10 cheaper! For the non-sushi eaters, I highly recommend the bento box with the teriyaki chicken and vegetable tempura. For some reason it doesn't appear on their website, but its available on the menu in the restaurant. The tempura is particularly delicious because they use crisp fresh vegetables and fry it to order. Tried to call but no one picked up. Ordered online from their website for pick up just to find out that it's their carry-out specials are cheaper (by $10!) ordering at the store even tho was already charged a "platform fee" for ordering online. Even got an email when ordering thanking me for keeping their cost down by not ordering through a 3rd party app! Asked the server why the $$ difference and she didn't know esp since we were picking up but she will leave a msg for the owners. I even emailed the owners asking, but they didn't bother to respond. Not much for almost $95 worth of food and the rolls were very small and slim. Was shopping at Costco and figured I would support a local restaurant and order from them, but left feeling over-charged, family still hungry, and not definitely valued for patronizing. Took an hour too for food to be ready! Ridiculous!! They can write about valuing their customers all they want, if they don't act on it, great way to lose a customer. First time, last time. Came here after a long day of skiing. The hand rolls are huge and filled all the way through. Be judicious about how many you order because they will fill you up quick. Standout favorites were definitely the scallop hand roll and yellowtail nigiri. Would not recommend the seared tuna. The tempura was very crunchy but more of a panko breading rather than traditional tempura batter. Very small place with limited tables for seating (there is also counter seating) so I recommend making a reservation although when we came on a Monday night it wasn't too busy. My pick for tonite's dinner! We've never had the opportunity to dine here, so our first time, and take out. I called in two chicken teriyaki dinners and the Komodo roll. We arrived within the time of 30 min. and walked in. The sign allows two people at a time, and the orders were on tables arranged alphabetically. The meal came to $39 with a $5.00 tip. The miso soup was hot, and right amount of tofu and miso flavor. The meal was really good for the price. Chicken was plenty and nicely prepared without pieces of fat or chunks. The roll was very good and we liked how they had the unagi sauce in a container. Can't wait to go back. Updated: 5/2/20 Only 4 days ago, and here I am, again! Ordered the teriyaki chicken bento boxes and a rock n roll..called in at 2 to be ready at 5pm. We tried calling yesterday, but wasn't able to get thru.. First of all, Sushi Pier is on Door Dash. I have ordered at least 3 times since April 2020. My first time eating from Sushi Pier was in April 2020. I wanted sushi and Covid 19 shut life down. I looked at DoorDash, and Sushi Pier had the highest score. So I tried them. And I am so glad I did!!! I don't have photos from each order, just my newest one. I kinda got off my reviews for a little bit due to many things happening in life. But I am slowly getting the rhythm of it again (thumbs up). Sushi Pier has some great nigiri! I believe I have tried it all!!! My absolute favorite is the smoked salmon! I highly recommend the Mickey, the Donald, and Kim's Fritters, as well. By the way, you can get more of Kim's Fritters in the Appetizer section. My favorite long rolls are the Midtown, Godzilla (always), Mr.Pink (the best), and 007. The 007 is pretty thick, so if you get that one, you won't need many more haha.I also suggest the Garden Vegetable long roll, the Joey Ramone, and Marilyn Monroll. Everything was heavily sauced, unagi sauce which reminded me of Indonesian sweet sauce kecap manis. Ava roll is my favorite because it has some lemon to balance the different flavors. Dragon roll is standard, spider roll is good but I wish they wouldn't put the sweet sauce (maybe on side), the sushi pier long roll was okay I wish it was spicier, upside down shrimp was just okay and I wish they didn't put that sweet sauce there, rainbow roll is a little bit different as the fish is inside which are quite like but wish also they don't put that sweet sauce. Everything tasted the same because of the same sweet sauce. Next time I would ask them to put the sauce on the side. This time we did a la carte since we are not that hungry and we can bring home our leftovers. Service is excellent and attentive! They get busy fast. read more

This place is absolutely incredible. From the pricing to the food quality and quantity, I don't know any other sushi restaurant that compares! For some background, I first tried Sushi Pier 8 years ago with my family back when I was still a little kid. Ever since, this would be our go-to spot for dinner every time we take a trip to Reno. Always prepare to come early and expect to wait! We arrived around 5:30pm just to be told that they were all booked out until 8pm. Unwavered, we put down our name and phone number and came back at 8pm where we were promptly seated. We were all starving so we opted for the AYCE. The issue is everything is so affordable here than it's actually hard to determine whether AYCE is worth it or not! I am constantly blown away by their menu prices because each item is a good $2-4 cheaper than what I'm used to ($5 hand rolls?? Unheard of in the SF Bay Area!) I finally decided to try this place after hearing so much about it. My search for good quality AYCE sushi continues but after visiting Sushi Pier, I was pleasantly surprised. Pup was with me so we sat outside where there are six picnic style tables. I went inside first to ask if we could sit outside and the manager had to give the okay. We arrived early to they may not have enough servers. They also asked for a credit card if we are going to sit outside. Seems they've had issues with people eating and leaving without paying. The service was great and the servers came out often to check on us. The reason for the four stars is they seemed to not bring everything we ordered. It's AYCE and I can reorder it but I would rather they get the order right the first time. Not everyone in your party has to order AYCE but ordering two specialty rolls would be the same price as the lunch AYCE. read more

Let's be real, there isn't a real Pier in this high desert land called Reno. But if there was a Pier connected to a body of water I would love to eat Sushi near it and enjoy the sights, sounds, and fresh breeze blowing in my face while eating a Moondog, Mountain Roll, Upside down Shrimp, and yes at a minimum 100 mussels and 15,000 calories. I have been visiting Pier 1 since Sushi Pier 2 was located at Park Lane Mall for those who remember that place. So anyway, I found myself near Reno Costco the other day and while traffic was bumper to bumper at noon a fresh breeze blew my way which led me into Sushi Pier once again. I rolled in for a quick to go order as I had scheduled a lunch date with my Valentine. I quickly ordered a Reno Roll, Mountain Roll, Moondog hand roll, and the crowd pleaser...a Salmon skin and Octopus hand roll. The guys behind the bar weren't just finding Nemo, they were serving him up faster than Bruce could swim. I was out the door with my to go order in less than 10 minutes. Sushi Pier 1 in my opinion is one of the best consistent great Reno Sushi restaurants. The rolls are solidly tasty and the staff give their best daily. The Salmon Skin and Octopus hand roll I consumed was 10 star tasty, amazing how fresh and crispy it was. I think I might have forgotten about the review of this place. At first when I search buffet, this location keep coming up but didn't seem like a buffet place from the Yelp but so many views. We took the chance and decided to see what's going on. When I called, they did allow me to reserve a table which is just awesome. Not a big place like the traditional buffet place you would imagine. Very small and tie between tables. At first I wasn't sure what I will be getting but turns out VERY good. You order from the menu, once you are done or almost, you order more. Do yourself a favor and find some other place. This place is the most dysfunctional sushi restaurant that offers all you can eat options. So we came here at 3:20p and we decided on the all you can eat menu option. It's dinner pricing because of the time, no problem. We ordered baked muscles and a few long rolls, nigiris, and hand rolls. Our baked muscles came out, extremely under par flavoring (muscle was cooked too rubbery with too much sriracha on the mayo)... then we proceeded to wait another 25 minutes, and only after asking our server where our sushi is, until we actually got any sushi... not all of what we ordered, only some of it. I'm actually sitting at the restaurant right now and it's 4:40p and our sushi still hasn't arrived. Seriously, how are you still in business with such dysfunction? I don't want to spend 80% of my time waiting for my food and I sure as hell don't want to have my table empty much more often than it not being empty at a sushi restaurant offering all you can eat. The waitress that we had, terrible. But I also feel like the people responsible for the sushi is also terrible as they noticeably play favorites with those sitting at the bar. So if you want to even to be able to eat (if you're lucky, that is), sit at the bar... Now, I need to add that once our original waitress left and we were waiting on by new people, service was noticeably better. But our horrendous experience started with that other waitress and lasted almost throughout our entire meal. But really though, why come here and get such disorganized service and having to wait for your food only to have it never arrive? Service was super quick and while I only got a quick glimpse inside when I picked up our order, the space is so inviting and the decorations are delightful! We did the takeout combo of 3 rolls, 2 nigiri, and the moondog stars. It's such a great deal for the amount of food you get!! We also wanted to try the tempura stuffed calamari so we ordered those as well! Everything was fresh and delicious, I especially loved the Mr Pink roll!! For lunch, you can order appetizers, certain rolls (there are some special dinner ones that you'd have to pay extra price for), nigiris, and hand rolls. Sashimi isn't included in AYCE for both lunch and dinner. Their fish was pretty fresh and decently sized. However the rice was absolutely terrible and hard to eat. It was overcooked and mushy to the point where the rice was molding into a bit of a rice cake. The service here is amazing though! The servers were super attentive and checked in with us regularly. Great place for AYCE sushi! Came here after spending some time in Circus Circus. We were quite starving so AYCE sounded like a good idea. Not everyone has to do AYCE here, unlike other places. 4 out of the 5 in my group opted for the AYCE while the last member got a shrimp tempura dinner entrée. Ordering is simple. You get a piece of paper and mark down as much or as little as you want and hand it to a server. Your server will then give you a new piece of paper for your next round. Wait times between dishes were actually quite minimal! The cooked rolls take a little longer, but they do note that on the menu. My favorite items: Quail Egg Shooter Godzilla Roll Smitty Roll The fish here was surprisingly fresh. You're not going to get the top grade since this is a buffet. Comparatively, however, this beats many other places! read more

Service was pretty slow after ordering but the rolls came out at the same time so it wasn't too bad. Expensive however. We paid about $75 before tipping where usually we would pay ~$60. The fish didn't seem that fresh to me, but it tasted decent. Drinks are really expensive ($12 for a margarita?) and their ice cream is... Not good. Cute little place though, quiet. I probably wouldn't recommend this place but it was a much easier wait than Tokyo. read more

i've been coming here for years so it was such a shame to have such horrible service. after we were sat no one came up to us for almost 20 minutes with only two other tables sat. we were never asked our drink orders and we weren't brought half of our food until we asked, even then the server laughed it off and never apologized. there were no manners and when my food was finally brought there was a dirty, oil covered sticky note wedged under my food. i brought some of my friends because this place has been amazing in the past and it was an embarrassment, i will not be coming here again. read more
