First time to this restaurant this past Friday. I saw it had great reviews here on Yelp so we decided to check it out. The inside was smaller, but decent seating space. The sushi chef seemed authentic which was nice to see. However the smell in this restaurant struck me immediately, very fishy smell in this restaurant and it lingered for quite awhile. I have never smelled that at any other sushi restaurant I've ever been to so I am taking a star off for that. The food was pretty good, I loved the salmon skin salad, huge portion but the dressing was HEAVY with the wasabi & it burned through my nose with every decent sized bite so that is why I took off another star too. I LOVE spicy food so I didnt mind the spice, but it's uncomfortable to have your nose burn with every bite of food you eat. I liked that they gave the vanilla cone on the house with a cute stand. Overall I feel like this place might be rated a little too high. I'm not sure I would recommend it to anyone. My husband really liked this place; so there is a chance I would be back. read more

I been to many GREAT sushi spots all over California and this one had me fooled. I ordered the Cherry Blossom Roll, and it is not as tasty as it looks or sounds. It's not even rolled firm enough all my food fell out before I could get it in my mouth. The true kicker is that these flowers you see on the food; most likely have been on another customer's plate, which is very scary to know that the chefs would serve you another person's trash and expect you to think its "safe to eat". You gotta check your flowers for lingering sauce and crumbs under the petals. read more

We came here for lunch. They have lunch specials. We ordered sushi and sashimi combo and lunch box combo. Fish quality is pretty good. Yellowtail sashimi was fresh and melted in my mouth. Other fish is also great quality and those are big pieces. I enjoyed it all. Spicy chicken karaage was pretty spicy Yellowtail Kama is good too if you like grilled fish. The server lady was very friendly. We enjoyed conversation. She took care of us well. They have ice cream on the house. It was a nice touch. The service and hospitality were beyond our expectations. Their service is very substandard. I am very disappointed, not to the type of service I'm used to with the usual Japanese server, she was very polite and hospitable. Our meals that we have finished was not even taken away even though we politely asked for it. Everyone else's table was served well and put away on time. The server named Kayla was very unprofessional and kept ignoring our table. We often eat here as a go to for great food but their service is sucks right now. We felt very racially profiled because even though we are in a Japanese restaurant but we were the only Asian family inside but got the poorest service. I missed the usual service that we usually have. I hope this restaurant doesn't loose its charm because of bad servers. read more

If I had to give one word to describe this sushi place, it would be PERFECTION! Husband and I had just left another sushi place due to being basically ignored. This was the next nearest sushi restaurant and I'm beyond glad we found this gem! Right as we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the very friendly Sugi. She gave us recommendations on what to order, she was attentive, brought me some chop stick helpers, and made small talk with us that felt genuine. She was absolutely remarkable! Not only was the service outstanding but also the sushi! We ordered a few different rolls. Toro Roll that had belly of the tuna, crab meat, cucumber, jalapeño inside, and caviar on top with mustard soy sauce. Blue Fin Tuna Roll that had spicy tuna, crab meat, cucumber, avocado, and caviar on top with mustard soy sauce as well. Murrieta Special Roll which was recommended to us by Sugi. It's a baked roll smothered in eel sauce and spicy mayo along with crab, avocado inside and salmon and scallops on top. I can see and taste why it's a popular roll. This roll alone will be filling. I recommend all 3 of these rolls. Good fish to rice ratio. Cut of the fish was soft and tasted clean, even the fatty part of the tuna. It's a healthy kind of fat. Rolls are perfect sizes. Presentation was on point! Take a look at my pictures to see for yourself. This is the place you want to come for your birthday. They will sure make you feel special and show you a good time. They have Sake Wednesday where they have a generous deal on Sake. Drink responsibly ;) Fridays they have live shrimp sushi. If you want to see "dancing shrimps" before you devour them, then go on a Friday. We might get some courage and try it someday. Also you get complementary ice cream for dessert with every visit. This is one the best sushi restaurants we have ever been to. We are definitely going to continue to come here and I recommend you give this place a try :) read more

This place easily becomes my new favorite local sushi restaurant. The waitress is extremely welcoming. I made sure to wait til several visits to leave a review just to make sure that they are actually consistent with their service. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by all the chefs and the Korean lady (I need to get her name next time) I felt like I was being treated by a family member somehow. She made me feel so at ease. I always get my usual lunch special that comes with salad and miso soup and the fish were all fresh every time I go. You really can't beat their lunch special value anywhere else. She also offered to refill my miso soup on the house which is a nice gesture that I truly appreciate. In the end, she offered me a green tea ice cream on the house which top of an already five star experience. The food is not the best! For a sushi restaurant the food menu is very limited!! There is barely any sushi options. I was not impressed with the sushi I got. The service was good because the owner comes and takes pics and laughs and talks with you. She's cool. Older lady up in the front. Service doesn't make up for the food though. The miso soup was good! My husband got fried rice, it had zero flavor. We asked for to go containers because we felt bad but drove up the street and tossed it! My sushi looked pretty but that's it. Also the server never came back to refill our drinks. We had to drive to the gas station after leaving we were so thirsty! Yes you get free ice cream on the house but you should because the rolls are expensive! Like $20 per roll. So yea....not worth it! The fried calamari was blah no flavor and very much super oily! So if that's your thing! Go for it! Won't go back! Super small restaurant. Like cafeteria style! Not comfy chairs or restaurant style. Really bizarre. I have been to Japan and hundreds of sushi locations in California. The service was excellent and the ambiance was okay...and just okay because at the sushi bar, you can't see the chefs - you are just facing a wall. THE PROBLEM (weird): I got the blue fin toro roll. The crab meat... tasted like... store bought frozen tuna fish? Wow it was revolting. I actually pushed it out of the roll... The fish tasted fresh... but why the cheap tuna-crab weirdness? Really, why? WHY?! Is it a money saving thing? I'm so confused because even the savings couldn't save the review of that roll. FIRST TIME? It's the only sushi place I've EVER been to that had crab meat that tastes like frozen tuna... again... what? Why do that?! That being said.... ***GET THE SPANISH MACKREL NIGIRI*** It was one of the freshest and best tasting sushi I've had in a while! So that was the saving grace! If you're from SoCal the prices are relatively normal with the most expensive roll being $19. FEEDBACKS: Also, while I tip to be supportive and show appreciation (in this case the nigiri)... this time I felt a little upset... maybe it was the frozen tuna-crab... but mostly it was the fact that I got LESS THAN ONE bite of complimentary ice cream. This was my choice so I'm mostly venting here, not blaming and that nigiri was spectacular. It hurt that I I tipped them $30 on a $50 dollar bill... Tipping 60% was me showing appreciation, but to see another customer get a heaping scoop of complimentary ice cream just didn't sit right. Maybe they tipped more? Maybe it was the servers fault (shrug). Anyways, I'm not upset about the money. It's just more feedback on customer service. Perhaps something to mention or change.
