Some great sushi in the berbs! Very consistent through out the years. Quality of the fish is always fresh. They are about to change their hours and only be open Tuesday - Saturday starting May 2023. Small place so be patient if you have to wait for a seat. They do have option for sitting outside. We had hot sake with water. We are a sashimi fans so we had, squid, salmon, yellow tail, white fish carpaccio. Each dish came with at least one shiso leaf! It's my fav leaf when eating sushi/sashimi. It gives it a great flavor. If you haven't tried it before I recommend it!! Not all sushi restaurants carry it and makes me sad when they don't have it. Each dish has its own presentation which gave it a unique look. read more

I had high expectations coming into Sushi Rock after reading their amazing reviews. However, I left thinking that the fish was just okay. We got two orders of sashimi, yellowtail and Ora king salmon. The ora king salmon was tasteless and the yellowtail did not look like it was fresh. There were holes in the yellowtail which was already off-putting from the appearance. What saved our meal was the angel nigiri pieces (unagi with cooked quail egg on top). These were some of the best nigiri pieces I've ever had. Savory, sweet, and full of umami flavor. They're $10/2 pieces. We also really enjoyed the sashimi salad and the house smoked salmon! Overall we enjoyed our meal and I would return to give Sushi Rock another chance! read more

This is my to-go place for sushi! They have a such nice quality of sushi that makes me want to come back every time. Due to Covid, they are place large squeeze guard between the tables. Every one is wearing mask. I feel very safe dining in. They are also doing take out and delivery via door dash. The staff is alway nice and friendly. They don't have a lot of seating. It's a small place. They are usually always busy. Don't be surprise if you have to wait. Their quality is also A++. I never get disappoint. I usually do sashimi or sushi usually fresh salmon and home smoke salmon. Their ribeye and mushroom yakitori is so delicious! Beware their grilled calamari is big! It usually feeds 4 people. Was shock when we first got it. If you're not in the mood for sushi, their chicken teriyaki is good and has nice flavor. I like the sautéed vegetable that comes with it. Came here with a friend for dinner on a Friday and although the restaurant is small, we were seated right away. We weren't terribly hungry so we ordered a couple of dishes to share. The server was helpful and gave us some recommendations and answered all of our questions. -Spicy tuna rainbow roll $13: I liked the variation of this rainbow roll with the spicy tuna roll instead of the typical California roll. I had no complaints with this roll although it wasn't spectacular. -Hamachi kama $12: I order this wherever I go so I definitely had to try this out. Overall, the yellow tail collar was good but I wish it had a little more meat on it. -Salmon sashimi: Very fresh and melts in your mouth. I highly recommend! -Scallop and bacon yakitori $8: These were full of flavor and the bacon wrapped around the scallop kept it tender and juicy. So good! -Ribeye and scallion yakitori $8: I really enjoyed this yakitori as well. The ribeye was tender and seasoned well and the scallion complemented the ribeye nicely. I have to say that this is a pretty solid spot for yakitori and sushi. With so many sushi restaurants out there, it's important to make a good impression. The fish quality was so so fresh and melted in your mouth. There's also a variety of sake to fit any kind of palate. Fiancee and I ordered the blue fin tuna sashimi, smoked salmon sashimi (one of the top sellers), hamachi kama (great portion size), and sayori fish ($22) which was a house special. We love sitting at the sushi bar with Mark, the owner and head chef, he makes absolutely spectacular nigiri. My husband and I were excited to go back. We tried more and got a bunch of food recommend by the waitress. The smoked salmon had a pretty presentation. They were incredibly busy (went on a Friday night). We needed refills on our drinks and one of our orders took a very long time. We could tell that they were short staffed and everyone seemed to be working without stopping. We asked our waitress for refills and she explained they were down a person and the kitchen was backed up. She comp'd one of our orders and was really sweet about it. I debated on giving a 4 star because we waited awhile, but I feel like our waitress was super great about it. We even asked one person if we were suppose to eat the fried prawn head and he brought out ponzu sauce for us and explained that's how he liked to eat it despite being busy. We went here just to unwind after a long work/school day. The service is great -as we've come to expect at most family owned places. Our waiter was funny, friendly, and kept refilling our cups from our bottle of sake each time he came around (even though we could have done so ourselves). The udon soup was delicious (and came in a huge bowl), perfect for the vaguely chilly weather but also perfect for anytime we're craving a seafood broth. I thought the food was good, the service friendly, and the atmosphere nice. I had heard that it was widely loved when it was in Plano, so I had anticipated coming to try their reincarnation in Richardson. I had ordered the sunflower roll and the hiyashi wakame (seaweed salad), and that was good, but I had also felt that it was pricey so I wasn't quick to love the place as I had hoped - especially around 5:30 pm on a weekday (which usually is a good time for happy hour deals) and after leaving the place not full despite paying a $14 bill for one person, with no drink. However, I do look forward to trying more of the menu, and perhaps another sushi and also their yakitori component of the menu, as well as any of their specials. Uni sushi with quail egg is the way to go. Not only did the uni had a beautiful, blooming flavor of the sea, but the quail egg further pushes the profile to a mouthgasm. Soft shell crab is another must from here. Has the right about of breading, full of crab juice, and overwhelms the senses with euphoria. Easily some of the best soft shell crab you can get around the area. Texas Tornado was a little too heavy on the sauce, but my friend loved the sauce. I thought it tasted too much like hamburger dip, but if that's what you like, then go for it. The sauce that came from this one did go well with the tempura. Smoked Salmon and the Mackeral were my favorite sushi pieces. Fresh, and full of flavor. The smoked salmon had a bold, smoky taste, while still being able to decipher the salmon flavor. Highly recommended Free edamame was surprising, but also a treat. Steamed just right, with a reasonable amount of salt. Pot stickers had a good consistency, well balanced combo of crab and chicken, that were not boiling hot when served. Vegetable tempura - Simple, but satisfying. The sauce that came with it was even better, although I wish the bowl was bigger for fitting an entire piece into the bowl. read more

this place is very easy to drive by and miss, but that's a good thing because if i could gatekeep this restaurant forever I WOULD!! staff are very friendly and one of the guys we talked to was very knowledgable with the ins and outs of the menu as well as palate. food wise, the quality is incredible. my personal faves were the yellowtail sashimi, sweet ebi, and the otoro roll. everything was truly delicious. the friends i went with keep asking me if i want to go back lol. the only concern i had (and this is because i am a poor college student) was the pricing! it was a pretty steep price to pay for what we got, and when we left, we weren't necessarily full (in other words, price wise it didn't feel like it was worth it). but to justify, the quality of the food here is amazing, and i bet i probably wouldn't be able to find anything cheaper for that quality. i'm just used to eating AYCE sushi where i can eat my money's worth. this place ... it rocks!! read more

One of my favorite sushi restaurants in the Dallas area. Everything on the menu is great, but beware the stuffed jalapenos can be very hot. A couple items I enjoy that seem unique: smoked salmon sushi, grilled calamari. One item I hope they add to the menu: mackerel sushi COVID: I got takeout so I didn't go inside and see safety protocols. My expectation is that all workers wear a mask at a minimum. The fish didn't seem fresh, every piece was somewhat spongey on the rainbow roll and our two sushi rolls were about the same on yellowtail and tuna. The Kara age was a really good appetizer that's basically an Asian style chicken tender. The edamame was about average. Service was decent but took a while to get refills on water. Overall it was just okay. Prob wouldn't go back or recommend it to others but if you're in a pinch and on a hour plus wait at some of the other more popular sushi spots in the area then it is an alternative option. read more

I HAD THE BEST TIME HERE. The Angel and Wagyu with truffle was amazing. Toro was cut wrong and chef admitted it and proceeded to offer a free Sake even though we were willing to pay. Servers were SO FUN. Chefs and waiters were down to take a sake shot every time and always so helpful with the menu and specials. Family owned and are cery passionate about this business.
