Ordered seaweed salad, shrimp balls, tempura Calamari, Mussels, Salmon skin hand rolls, Nigiri: Donald Duck, Micky Mouse, Hamachi, Seared Tuna, Long rolls: Rainbow, The Chao, Mountain, finally finishing the touch with Chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Only thing we didn't like is the Rainbow roll. We highly recommend The Chao, Mountain Hand rolls, Shrimp balls, Mussels and Donald Duck (nigiri). Food was good for what you pay and is one business that gives you free birthday all you can eat with your rewards card and of course valid ID. Do call ahead for the full disclosure. Our server a younger boy with dark brown hair never introduced himself so it struck me as odd. My first impression was to get up and leave, my sister and I had filled out our card for our food and maybe our server thought he was being cute, but slapped off our table, but then picked it back up and said just kidding?? Do you do that with all your guests? I work in the service industry and that is a no no! You almost lost your tip for the night and another star. I will hand it to him that he was efficient so he sort of redeemed himself. I will say, food came up quickly so the one sheet was more plentiful between the two of us. I will say, The Rock N Roll is disgusting and I ask the business to rethink that one. Everything else we tried was pretty good, besides the edamame and the Rock N' Roll. Edamame had excess water and left the pods a little slimy. :( My favorite was the Jason hand roll and a long cooked roll that was spicy and had cream cheese. Of course when I do A.Y.C.E. I love good sushi. This place is a monthly favorite for us. It can get pretty crowded so get there earlier. Crowded nights do cause a delay in getting food. The sushi is fresh and the servers are nice. They remember us each time we visit. I've tried just about everything and my favorite is the Nigiri. The place is much older but they've tried remodeling. The bathroom is clean but definitely needs a renovation. This place is not new and fancy but it is consistent, good, and friendly. Monday night specials are my favorite when they offer free beer and sake. They do free birthday sushi and have a rewards club too. Start with some edamame and miso and follow with some Nigiri. I love this restaurant! It is so good. The fish is very fresh and the service there is amazing. However, the stools to the bar are very short. I would definitely recommend if you were an adult bring some pillows! I dig this place. It's small and cozy. The sushi is fresh and the chefs are super fast! I'm a big fan of nigiri, they don't put too much rice, so you can try a few different things and not fill up too fast. On Mondays they do free beer and saki with all you can eat. I ordered some takeout online and received one of the worst Sushi orders I've ever picked up. So many things were wrong with my order: 1) They did not follow any of the special instructions. They weren't crazy instructions either, just "do not include this ingredient." Why bother to have a special instructions field if you don't read it? Don't order online if you have allergies, I guess. 2) They got one item completely wrong. This wasn't a close thing, either: I ordered Mackerel (Saba) and received Squid (Ika). Those aren't even vaguely similar. 3) Said Squid was BAD. I don't mean low quality, I mean it was spoiled, and if you've ever had the misfortune of eating spoiled squid you know how dangerous that can be. If you haven't... out both ends, for hours. 4) Their veggie "assortment" for tempura consists entirely of potato (not sweet potato, plain potato) and zucchini. The tempura batter itself was not good quality and had trouble sticking to the veggies, especially the zucchini. 5) The rice in their sushi was mushy and bland, exceptionally so. It brought the already mediocre quality of the sushi down even more. I really did not expect something this bad given all the other good reviews of this place. This was our first time visiting Sushi Rose. The best news I found, is that on Monday nights they have free all you can drink beer with the all you can eat sushi! Now we're talking! We were seated almost immediately by Riley, and took our seats at the counter. Riley is awesome, and I would have sworn he was the man in charge of the entire operation, but he told me he is not. I love sitting at the counter and watching my chef prepare my sushi. Kai was my personal chef! Well,... Not really, but it felt that way! The nice young lady sitting to my left recommended the mussels (They have a limit of three orders, with three mussels per order), So I ordered the mussels. They were delicious! Since this is all you can eat, I could have had two more orders of the mussels, but I chose to move around the menu and try as many different things as my body would allow. Of course, I immediately ordered a Sapporo! I have to say, MaryAnne was extremely attentive and was ready to fetch whatever I asked for immediately! My second beer was a Kirin, followed by a Tsingtao and Asahi. Yes, I was there to eat! The beers were also very yummy! I had a Mickey Mouse hand roll, then a volcano roll, a hot night, and a mariner. All the roles were fresh, unique, and delicious! They looked good, and tasted wonderful! I like my sushi a little spicy, but these roles were still very good, just not as spicy as I like. I finished with a quail egg shooter. That was also very good. Sushi Rose gets five stars for the service I received, the sushi that I ate, and free beers! They know exactly how to get my attention! The sushi was very lackluster. Took us an hour and a half to receive 4 rolls. The fish was lacking flavor which translated to the rolls. After an hour and a half our second order was brought out (we had to reorder a hand roll and nigiri that was missed on our first order). Only giving 3 stars because of the previous positive experiences I've had here... today I was very disappointed. The service was bad - besides waiting a very long time for water, appetizers, and our food, whenever the waitress brought our plates for the all you can eat sushi, she hastily set them down on the table and walked away. We had to ask her to come back and tell us which rolls she was bringing to the table (many rolls were similar looking so at times it was hard to tell). For appetizers we ordered the mussels and seaweed salad. The mussels were awesome, but I've definitely had better seaweed salad at this same place before. The sushi itself didn't taste as fresh as I've usually experienced when I've eaten here. The fried rolls were also cold when brought to our table, and nearly all of our rolls were brought out all at once, which tells me they had been probably been sitting on the counter for a while. I might have excused the slow service and maybe even the cold rolls had the restaurant been busy, however, there were only 2 other tables besides ours. Normally the service here is quick, friendly, and the food is usually fresh and amazing. I was embarrassed today because I had talked about how great this place was beforehand and brought a friend who is picky about her sushi... next time I will go somewhere else. Have tried about 10 different sushi places in Reno over the years and this one has the best menu as far as sushi rolls go, etc. They also have a rewards stamp program which is nice. Haven't tried to many sushi places since moving here but, everytime we ask people where their favorites are or where they'd recommend, Sushi Rose comes up. So we checked it out this past Tuesday for lunch. We did the all you can eat for $16.95. They have a large selection to choose from including appetizers, hand rolls, long rolls etc. and you even get to choose a dessert with your meal. Now if you're wondering how we liked it. The people I went with on Tuesday was craving their Sushi again so, we went back for lunch on Wednesday! Weeeehaaaa!!!! When you first look at the menu, they seem to have a bunch of different combination rolls etc. like most sushi places nowadays. But something about their combinations and the taste of those rolls just hit the spot. My faves were the San Francisco and The Rose 1 (I think it was called) both long rolls and the Windy and Mickey Mouse hand rolls. Also, the Yakiton, which is like a Crab Rangoon, was one of the best I've had in Reno. They definitely don't skimp on the filling. Overall, I give them a 4.57. Service was good. Didn't have to wait long for our orders to come out. There are lower priced places but, for all you can eat, still a good price. The only negative I have, is they don't have anything with chicken which I was looking for menu. But wasn't even that big a deal with all the variety they have. Sushi rose has got to be one of the worst sushi spots in all of Reno Nevada. The first time I went there their sushi was warm to the touch even the nigiri which is typically cooler. And waited over an hour for just 2 rolls. Then the second time I came here it took an hour for just 3 orders of nigiri. This joint never disappoints! My boyfriend and I have slowly become regulars. Especially on Mondays for their free beer and sake with all you can eat (tip: you can even have it on holidays they're open and from open to close)! We live closer to south side of town but when I want sushi I will make the trek as this is my go to. I will say if you plan on going on a Monday try to go earlier than 6 and after 730, it's poppin at that time! Also MNF is great to watch here if you want to avoid the typical bar scene. The sushi chefs are so great and willing to add my favorite (lemon) to every roll. They also can adjust and make specials or any recommendations needed. They have great deals, free beer/sake nights, free BDay sushi, and they have never let us down. We took our two kids in, and they brought them rice and pot stickers and edamame and even ice cream at the end and don't charge us for it--so nice! They just included it in our AYCE price. They mad me feel rushed kept coming back to our table telling us we need to order, even after we have only just received our food . every time they would walk by the would tell up we close at 830. The sushi is here generally just okay, but tonight we had a roll (the Honolulu), and the salmon on the inside was not fresh and tasted fishy. When I told the server, he didn't apologize or offer to fix it, but instead argued with me about how I was wrong. I have encountered him twice at Sushi Rose, and both times he has been quite rude. I will not be going back, both because of the so-so food and the rude service. The other servers there seem fine, but this guy seems to work there a lot and I do not want to interact with him again (he is a male server who typically wears a mask). Well at first I was really excited to eat here. The place is really clean the service at first it was really good. Then the sushi came. I only eat cooked rolls. So my first order is always one Godzilla and one King Kong. The roles came out looking beautiful they were hot but upon my first bite of both rolls There was a very weird taste about it. I first I thought nothing of it but as I went on eating it tasted off. I don't know but I thought it was just me. And then the other three people at my table all complained about their rolls as well. To make it worse it was Mother's Day. And we have been trying to just find a decent place for sushi around Reno. I guess we'll keep looking won't be going back here for sure. I have been going here for years. It remains one of my top 5 Reno ayce sushi spots. It is never super busy but always has some folks. The cost for lunch is only $17. They have free sake and beer. They give you free sushi on your birthday. They have a punch card to get 50% off a visit. They have amazing "Yakiton" that are really just Chinese crab Rangoon. The rolls are smaller than normal so you can do more. The fish is always handled well and fresh tasting. The green tea ice cream is yummy. The only thing I don't like is the pot stickers. They are very Chinese... not the crunchy small Korean style. I highly recommend this place.
