So...the first couple of times I came here in the last couple years, I really hated it and not for the food but the service was awful. I was invited to come for a friend's bday and I was apprehensive at first but so glad that I came. I don't know what changed but the service for a party of 8 was great and the food was amazing! I love that their rolls were smaller so you had a chance to try an arrangement of different rolls and nigiri. The nigiri had good rice to fish ratio. I didn't feel like I was eating a rock size of rice like some other places. It was Friday night and super busy and yet we never had to wait long for any rolls or to put in our orders. 100% will be back, and soon!! Will be bringing myself and my friends to celebrate my birthday this time! read more

My Mom wanted to go to this restaurant for lunch and invited me. I love Sushi and this place was recommended by my Mom's friend, so I decided to join her. When we first walked in, I liked the way the restaurant was laid out and there was room to move around. We decided not to do the "All You Can Eat" because there is no way we could eat that much sushi to justify paying $26 and some change per person. She ordered a salad and 1 roll (Romeo & Juliet) and I ordered 2 rolls (Volcano & The Chao). Our other friend joined us at the last minute and she ordered pot stickers and tempura/rice. Our friend got her order first and about 15 minutes we received our sushi, so the service was left to be desired! Once we received our sushi no one ever came back to our table to see if we needed more water or wanted to order anything else, that was very disappointing! Now let's talk about the food, the sushi was terrible, not fresh, and had no taste (very bland)! Because of the quality of food, I won't be returning. read more

We've been eating at Sushi Rose for a couple of years and the experience is fairly consistent. We typically do All You Can Eat and mainly focus on ordering the yellowtail, salmon, eel, and random rolls. The yellowtail is always fresh while the salmon is hit or miss on terms of mouthfeel and freshness. The AYCE comes with free hot sake Mon-Thurs so we take advantage of that when we can. The service is a bit on the slower side when compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, but the punch card given to repeat customers makes up for it (50% off once the card is filled). They remodeled the interior of the restaurant last year which gives it a much cleaner, modern feel when compared to before. Overall, Sushi Rose will remain a staple in my family's restaurant rotation. read more

We live in the neighborhood and eat here about once a month. We love sushi and have tried lots of Reno AYCE's. We keep coming back here for the great food and friendly service. The place is a bit small so there can be a wait on the busy nights. The donald duck and mickey mouse nigiri's are great!. We also like the hand rolls, as their seaweed has just the right amount of crunch and not sogginess. The Salmon skin hand roll is one of our fave's. This is our go to in Reno for sushi read more

What I dont like , i am not an all you can eat fan. This place caters to the college crowd. Amd they love it ! Hot saki, and a great selection. I like cold saki amd I give them points for having that option ! But this does not come with all you can eat so if you like cold saki do not get all you can eat. Sushi is good ! Rolls are small if your not the all you can eat, so you spend a bit more than other places in the area. The crab wantons are a must !! We spent less money not getting all you can eat with cold saki. But if you like the hot go for the all you can eat! Over all a good place good deal for the all you can eat good people working nice pleasant i would go again read more

After being remodeled, sushi rose looks great! Very open feel and nice ambience. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and seated. The staff was nice and friendly, very attentive. We did all you can eat for lunch and ordered a variety of sushi. Everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious and came out quick. They have a large variety in raw and cooked sushi. My favorite had to be the mermaid which has a nice kick to it with a little bit of jalapeños. I greatly enjoyed my experience here and am looking forward to the next time to eat even more! read more

I got a to go special here a few weeks ago. The restaurant sits in the corner of a strip mall and has that kind of typical, divey strip mall look on the inside. Not much in the way of ambiance. Waited a while to get my order in but once I did, I didnt have to wait long to get it. When I got home though, I was pretty disappointed. The rainbow roll I got had ridiculously thin slices of fish and was almost all rice, which made it gummy to eat. Can't really recommend this place just based on that, even if the price is more reasonable than other sushi spots. read more

We have been here a few times. It is not a fancy place, but who cares? I come here for the food and great service! And how many places in town offer free AYCE sushi on your birthday? We took our son here a few days ago to celebrate turning 16. Our server was so kind, making sure he was well taken care of on his birthday. The food is always fresh, there is a wide variety of sushi rolls and nigiri to choose from, and they do not try to fill you up on rice like some places do. We each topped off our meal with delicious green tea ice cream. When it came time to pay, even though one of us was free of charge, the server kindly reminded me about giving her our loyalty card so she could stamp it. I really appreciated that gesture! Cute sushi place that offers AYCE. For lunch it's $25.95 and dinner (after 3 pm) it's $31.95. You basically get the majority of the menu as part of the all you can eat. The rules are well-made and quite tasty. The staff is nice and if you sit at the sushi bar, you get to order directly from the sushi chef. The rolls are small so you can order a variety off the menu and not feel stuffed. The crystal shrimp is good... lots of different types of rolls that has the crystal shrimp. The Famous hand roll is so good! Try to go at off hours to avoid the busy times. Or add your name to the waitlist on Yelp. read more

So Sushi Rose is definitely a locally owned restaurant with an interesting vibe. The decor could throw you off because it doesn't scream Japanese, but don't be fooled. The owners have focused their investment in awesome staff, good deals such as free birthday dinners and punch cards, delicious food, and cleanliness. Our waitresses were prompt, helpful, and very aware of our needs. All three were keeping an eye out on all of the tables and helping each other out. They also allowed me to order a dinner combo from the Chinese restaurant nextdoor for my kids, which made my life so much easier. In comparison to other sushi restaurants, their rolls are on the smaller side. I actually appreciated this, as it meant I could order more rolls and try more than I normally do. I wish there was a bit more variation in the roll offerings, but absolutely try the Rose 2. It was the most unique sushi roll I've had in a long time. read more

I used to love this place. I always got my food promptly and never had any issues. I have a severe shellfish allergy and all of the staff has been accommodating about my allergy until recently. My last few to-go orders have been problematic. I've had to wait 30+ minutes inside the restaurant (when I had called in the order 20 mins before). The first time this happened the manager gave me a 50% off coupon and told me it wouldn't happen again. Yesterday, I had to wait even longer for my to-go order AND my order contained shellfish. About 20 minutes into waiting for my order at the restaurant, I asked one of the employees about the status of my order. He said that the chef wanted to make sure it was right (since I indicated that I have a severe shellfish allergy), which I appreciated. However, I noticed that they put fake crab on my sushi (which has crab juice in it) and explained that I couldn't eat that with my allergy so they remade it. I assumed that the rest of the order was correct and walked out of the restaurant with my food. However, I came home and realized that my order contained shellfish (scallops). I called to let the owner know and she told me it was too difficult to accommodate a shellfish allergy and that she didn't want me as her customer anymore. I have never been discriminated against by a restaurant due to my allergy. I'd highly recommend going elsewhere for your sushi! read more

Sushi maki rolls are tasty for AYCE, but service is very slow. We couldn't order another round because our waitress barely came by and our food came out very, very slowly. During our first (and only round), the waitress asked if we were done and we told them, no. We still didnt have our full first round order. After we received everything in our first round, we waited for another order slip for round 2. After waiting 15 min to have anyone help us, we gave up ordering another round and decided on dessert. However, I had to find the waitress to finally get someone to get our dessert order. If you have time then maybe it's fine but I've almost been here for two hours and only got one round of sushi ordered and a dessert. Service is important and likely will not return unless they change. Plus they charge full price for AYCE for my kids... Other places have smaller prices for kids because my 6 year old is not going to be eating a lot. read more

First off always willing to try new experiences. Was curious about Sushi Rose so I thought what the heck. Definitely not a five star restaurant. It's in a strip mall. The service was fast. The food tasted good for the most part. The only reason I'm giving it three stars, is because of what came after I left the restaurant not only for myself, but for the person with me, it left you running for the bathroom with an explosion coming out your backside. I can only assume it was probably the sauces that they put on the food, because the food tasted fresh for the most part. Just being honest. read more

Good ol' faithful. This is our go to sushi spot. It's close to our house (which is super convenient for the all you can drink sake) and is definitely one of the cheaper AYCE options. We usually stick to nigiri, the Donald Duck is by far my favorite. You also get appetizers with AYCE, highly recommend the crab rangoons and potstickers. The food is just absolutely delicious. I always have issue which one to order because all of them are really good. Jojo Apolinario was the chef that was making our sushi and its all fresh and made to perfection. Presentation is amazing you hesitate to eat them as it is too pretty to eat. Really like this place, they have good prices and good food! The service is typically good, some servers are friendlier than others. The wait is usually longer to be seated and they don't take reservations, but they work hard to get customers in and served quickly! Their fish always seems fresh and the rolls are delicious combinations! Our favs are Romeo and Juliet, Macho and Mariner! The yakiton and oysters are also a must!! Most times I come alone an hour before closing and get a seat at the bar almost immediately. This visit, I was astonished to find 36 people on the waitlist with only an hour left. At that late point they hand out order sheets while you're waiting, which for groups still not seated means placing a MEGA order as soon as you sit down, followed by a rushed scarfing-down session as the staff begins closing up shop. The menu is quite large with heavy overlap with the menus at most other AYCE places. Roll selection is good and popular, as I look to either side, I'm appreciative of most patrons filling up on rolls commonly made with fake Krab (same stuff in frozen fish sticks), deep-fried ingredients, and generous applications of mayo and eel or teriyaki sauce. These cost the restaurant far less than a steady stream of nigiri, effectively subsidizing the roughly $120 worth of assorted nigiri I'm about to consume for about a third of that price. To each their own. The rice was perfectly seasoned and properly cooked, the most important part of sushi, though on one previous visit it leaned a bit too sweet. The fish tasted good, and the fish-to-rice ratio is better than at most competing spots. Service attentiveness can vary but on average is typically solid with a call button you can press. The combination of a packed dining room and upbeat music makes the place LOUD and festive, with sports on two large-screen TVs that appeal to the younger Midtown crowd. Everything we ordered was good, but the baked mussels were easily my favorite -- we must have ordered at least 50 of them throughout the night because they were that addictive. The staff was great the entire evening, stayed attentive, and handled the busy atmosphere really well. Overall, it was a fun dinner with good food, good service, and a great spot for celebrating special occasions.
