Had scallops and risotto. The risotto was bland and the scallops tasted underdone. My husband had short ribs and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted like they accidentally dumped a whole bottle of horseradish in them. The lemon soufflé tasted more like eggs than lemon. Review for bar only: came here on vacation, solid scotch selection according to my friend who knows the stuff, I certainly enjoyed it. Heavy pours for the price, others say the drinks are overpriced but that wasn't our experience. Huge martini list, and they are done right. If you want great drinks in Eldorado/Silver Legacy / Circus go here instead of the crappy generic bars for sure. Waitress was super competent but a bit of a downer, however, at least at first, probably deals with way too many d-bags ;) read more

I love this place! Their martini happy hour is a deal and the ambience is enjoyable with piano and a regular vocalist. Our server, Kirsten, is amazing and remembers our cocktails of choice! We went to dinner at Roxy's because we heard the bread was amazing. It did not disappoint. The bacon cheddar bread was to die for, but it didn't compare to our entrees! I had the scallops and my husband had the king crab special. I have never seen so much crab meat in my life! Food was excellent. We had a wonderful bottle of wine and somehow managed to save some room for dessert (we got the creme brulee). This will definitely be in our agenda every time we come back to Reno. Food was excellent! I would go back just for the bacon cheese bread that the lady kept avoiding to bring by the table. It was bomb! We ordered the scallops/ lobster and ribeye with Mac and cheese and spinach. Everything was cooked to perfection...kind of. My scallop dish was not as hot as I would have liked it but it didn't take away from the delicious flavor. Our waiter wasn't as attentive as I would like I had to wait like 15 minutes to get water, I don't care that it was New Year Eve. But I appreciated the manager making his rounds to the table. The waiter sucked and couldn't even bring us drinks let alone almost stab my husband in the face with a knife. This is one of our top favorite restaurants anywhere. My husband and I had our first date at Roxy and recently had our wedding reception there. Jeff Vachon, the sommelier, as well as the entire staff at Roxy went above and beyond to make our wedding reception intimate, romantic, and completely special. We felt like the only people in the restaurant as effort was put into every little detail from our food, the wine, cocktails, cake, and decor. The entire staff were not only very attentive to my husband and myself, but they treated our guest with the same enthusiasm and superior customer service they have always given us over the years. We have been frequenting Roxy for over 10 years and would consider ourself regulars. The entire staff not only feel like friends, they feel like our family. The minute we arrive, we are greated with open arms and are treated like royalty. They remember our favorite drinks, appetizers, favorite dishes, and give great recommendations for new dishes for us to try. I absolutely love wine. Jeff Vachon is so spot on with wine recommendations that my husband and I no longer pick out wine. We ask Jeff to bring us anything he suggests, and we have never been disappointed. The food is consistently delicious, and the ambiance is so romantic. I love hearing the piano (from their bar) echoing through the restaurant as we're enjoying our meal. It's not too loud, but perfect enough for my husband and I to have intimate conversations at the table while still enjoying the romantic piano in the background. We love entertaining our friends at Roxy. Over the years, our friends have enjoyed the staff, food, drinks, and ambiance so much that they are now regulars as well. We have been going to Roxy for such a long time as it's not only one of our favorite restaurants, it now is such a special place that has held so many amazing memories and big life events. The best for an Anniversary Dinner. The service was outstanding by Mike, Jeff, and Spencer. My husband and I had the Lobster Bisque for soup. It was creamy and just the right spice to make you want more at the bottom of the bowl. We had the escargot for appetizer with garlic and butter. My husband ate three famous bacon cheese breads, and we still had dessert coming. I had to tell the sweet bread woman to stay away. For dessert, we had the creme brulee topped with banans and flames, and a souffle oozing with blueberries. I highly recommend that you order your desserts when you put in your dinner order as these wonderful desserts take 45 minutes to cook to perfection, They both were stars. Clark was a great server, very attentive and helpful. We were initially taken aback by the hostess who attempted to seat us in the farthest, darkest corner table in the restaurant. We denied that seating and then she took us to a two-top near a door. Not terrible but I was highly concerned about her choices seeing that there were several open tables AND after we were seated another couple came in and were seated in one of many available booths. I try not to read anything into issues like the fact that we were the only African Americans in the restaurant at the time. I'm saying nothing about the restaurant overall but more about some of the people who work there. Here's another concern, I asked where the restroom was and was directed outside to a common area. No big deal, right? Well when I returned another server followed me saying, "Sir! Sir!" I finally turned around when I figured out she was talking to me. "Do you have a table here?" I thought it a bit strange and out of place but she immediately backed off when I looked her directly in her eyes and said, "Absolutely." I returned to my table and said nothing about it. In most cases I would but for some reason, this time, I just moved on. Again, the restaurant was good, our server, Clark, was great but no place is perfect. And... I wasn't going to let two idiot employees with their own issues ruin a beautiful evening with my wife. Hence the 3/5 rating; had I not had those encounters with the hostess who seated us and the unrelated server, I'm sure my rating would have been higher. read more

I love this place! I love coming here before a show. They have a great happy hour between 5-7, the martini's are 1/2 price. There are over 100 to choose from, and they shake it right there at the table for you. They use top shelf liqueur. My friend and I love the Chocolate martini. (I have mine w/ a splash of Baileys) The food is excellent. I have the house salad, which changes with the season. The one I had in July had strawberries and creamy feta cheese. It was so good ! There is a girl walking around with a basket of warm bread. I get the french, it's as fresh and flavorful as can be. They have an excellent wine list too, including flights of wine. The atmosphere is great, just the right lighting, soft piano music (sometimes saxophone too) Jazz or Frank Sinatra style. I LOVE the waiter named Albert! He is so fun, sweet, knowledgeable, and efficient. I will ask to sit in his section every time now. The chef's special's are usually really great too. They change with the season as well. This is a great place to take a date, client, or just a nice place to hang out with friends. I've even eaten here alone and felt comfortable, thanks to Albert. read more

The Roxy inside of the Eldarodo Casino has always been an incredible dining experience for myself and my family. Last night the proverbial ball was dropped and it bounced off the rubbery potato gratin and landed on my "rib eye" that was actually a New York Strip (I worked at a meat counter, I can tell.) Food: First, I hope the chef reads this. I have met him and he is incredible and I think he must have had the night off. The "baconization of America" is tried and true at Roxy. It is in the bread and even on the roast chicken, which would have been fine if A, it was on the menu and B, my sister ate pork. My brother's meal was made up of sides because of the lack of vegetarian items, and his gratin was inedible. Rubbery, dry, and over all vile. I ordered the 1lb Rib Eye and they brought me a NY twice. The second time I kept it and ate it, but come on the rib steak comes from a very different part of the cow people. BUT, the sides were great. The mac and cheese creamy and delicious, the mashed yukon potatoes were amazing and the sauteed mushrooms perfect. The salads were nice as well. Service: During our 30 min wait between appetizers and entrees the Asst, Manager helped us pick out some wine then completely forgot. He did comp the bottle and apologized, so that was good. trying to get a second piece of bacon-free bread was far more work than it should be, and being seated by the pass through window at the sushi bar and watching deep fried rolls sit and wait as long as we were for our food pretty much disgusted all of us. Bottom line, Roxy wasn't up to snuff last night. For the price I expect great service and amazing food, and I won't settle for less. read more

I had the filet mignon and it was quite good... I have a high standard for steaks and this one passed the test! We come here for martinis whenever in Reno. Great happy hour / $5 a martini. My dirty martinis are always delicious and they have a huge selection of martinis! Over the last eight years the quality just goes down and down. It use to be my favorite spot but the last four times I've been disappointed. The server we had last night was awful. He neglected us because we didn't make a large order! He never came back and checked on us once after our food was delivered. He figured if he wasn't generating a large ticket his gratuity wouldn't be worth our time...so he didn't bother. He certainly didn't deserve the tip we did leave, regardless of his poor attitude and service. Albert was or server. We ordered two salads. I ordered the bleu cheese wedge..the lettuce was not nice and crisp. It was soggy and I couldn't finish it. We also ordered the crab cake which used to be the best I ever had, but one small bite was enough for me..nothing like it used to be! Won't order it again. I think they went from fresh to frozen. The manager took it off the bill. The Souffle also used to be awesome...but this time there was nothing to it, hollow and sugary, and they gave us about a table spoon of the grand Marnier sauce. Four bites and the $12 desert was gone! Just an overall disappointing experience. Dont think I will be going back to my once favorite spot. read more

Love this place! Went here for our early Valentines dinner. I heard this tends to be very busy so I went ahead and made my reservations. True enough, there was already a long line and we came at a happy hour, but we were checked in and seated as soon as we arrived. $5 martinis for the happy hour and complimentary martinis for the Yelp check in, hubby got lamb chops and I got the rotisserie chicken. Everything was great - from check in, service, and food. We had complimentary cheese bread and bacon bread, yum! My french onion soup was just right, oysters in the half shell were fresh. We finished everything off with a seasonal apple peach creme brulee and used our Yelp check in for the chocolate martini. This is a great place for a date night or if you just want to have a nice fancy dinner. read more

Went to Roxy's for the first time last night and while it wasn't perfect in some ways, in other ways it exceeded all my expectations! When we got there we were sat close to the Roxy's bar which I wasn't thrilled about because it was so noisy that we practically had to yell at each other all night. Considered asking to be moved, but the restaurant itself looked really busy and waiting for another table seemed like more trouble than it was worth. Our server Donald greeted us promptly and let us know all about the specials and got out our drink orders which gave us some time to think things over. When I go out to eat I always get fish because I love seafood but I hate cooking it at home so I was considering the sole. However, a friend who was finishing up dinner elsewhere in the restaurant came by to say hello and told us that it was just okay, and I wasn't there for "okay". Donald returned with our drinks and I pressed him for his opinion on the matter. He admitted that as a recent addition he hadn't been able to try the sole yet, but he suggested the salmon for me. After taking our orders and zipping off to get to the kitchen, his assistant finally showed up with some water for the table. Friendly young man, but rather lackadaisical. Didn't see a lot of him after that. Now with some free time I started to observe the restaurant as a whole. I found the decor overall to be nice, but a little cluttered with tables and confusing in layout. It was interesting to watch Donald work: so calm, friendly, and engaged at the table, but as soon as he stepped away he moved swiftly through people and tables to get to his next task. Finally the main event arrived and let me tell you, it was heaven! The salmon was cooked to perfection and the sauce and vegetables that came with complimented it perfectly. The presentation was nice for the salmon, but my husband had the lamb and it looked like a piece of artwork! The cooks really know what they are doing! After giving us a few minutes to eat Donald returned to check on us to make sure we were happy and I could barely stop eating long enough to respond! The maitre'd Jeff also stopped by to check on us and chat for a moment, very friendly. You could tell that he loves meeting and talking with people every night! My biggest regret for the evening is that I didn't save room for desert. Next time for sure! Despite my first concerns about the table, the food and service made it a 5 Star experience!
