    Sunshine roll

Went on a solo outing for dinner here, and had a great time. At the time, it wasn't too busy and I was seated right away. The lighting was a little dim and you can hear chatter from nearby tables but overall it was a chill environment. I was disappointed at first looking at the menu and not seeing miso soup but was pleasantly surprised. You receive a miso soup complimentary with your meal. I ordered the cucumber salad appetizer, which was delicious. Lastly, I ordered the Sunshine roll and asked for a small side of eel sauce. It was great. My waitress was very nice and attentive. Will definitely be coming here again.

Good sushi. Good service. Decent katsu. Cool booths. Awful white LED Lighting and ridiculously sticky floors. Seriously, what is on them?

Was looking for a decent sushi place in Tacoma but this wasn't for me. The sushi quality just wasn't there and the shrimp had this odd ginger sweet flavor that you get in cheaper sushi. For this price point I rather take a further up drive north like Nori Sushi in FW or Miyabi sushi in Southcenter. My search for a good sushi place in Tacoma continues...

Crunch roll: crab mix, shrimp tempera, cucumber, avocado rolled in tempera flake

Went here to get a quick snack. It was amazing! I've had two other rolls from here before and they tasted as good as they looked! The crab mix is perfect, the shrimp tempera tastes fresh! (I feel like that's rare). Literally wish I could eat more. So good, literally go! Don't sleep on it. Also I think there might be a strip club next door which you could do dinner and a show

Ordered too much but it was all sooo delicious! The avocado bomb was great as an appetizer and you get a complimentary miso soup. Service was quick and friendly. Ambiance feels comfortable.

The sushi here is EXCELLENT. I haven't had sushi this good anywhere else in Tacoma, or Washington for that matter. The chefs are very generous with the portions in these rolls. The rolls I ordered had exactly the amount of Tobiko that you would dream about, and the fish tasted extremely fresh. The service was great, albeit a little bit slow for what you might expect. Although to give some leeway, there was only one waitress on staff, and she had around 6 tables to serve. Sushido feels like a very classic sushi restaurant, which is hard to find these days, and something I appreciate. The lighting is great, and nice green plants add color where necessary. All in all, I enjoyed the service, the food, and the atmosphere to a very high degree. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Dancing eel roll and crunch roll

Went to Sushido for lunch with my sister and we ordered the dancing eel roll and the crunch roll. Both rolls were really good and filling. The service was good. The inside of the restaurant is really nice. Kind of dark but still really nice. We sat down in a booth to eat. We also had complemarily miso soup before our meal. I would definitely go back again.

Wow! Sashimi Benyo Box was HUGE!! Literally 12" to a side, I had a large to go left over and every bite was super fresh and bright!

We rediscovered Sushido again tonight. We used to live very close and it was in our rotation of regular restaurants, then moved across the bridge and sadly stopped going. Tonight's visit reminded us that it is definitely worth the drive and the toll. The food was excellent both in quantity and presentation, with amble portions as a bonus. We had a delightful server who was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back soon!

I was so excited to start eating that I forgot to take a picture until halfway through! We went around 5pm on a Wednesday and we were seated immediately, the service was fast and the waitress was knowledgeable about the menu! The food was beautifully plated and fairly inexpensive. Despite the name, there is a lot of foods to choose from besides sushi! A perfect restaurant for an easy date night, I will be returning!

Tasty sushi! I got the bento box, it had a good variety and came with a spicy tuna roll. It was very filling. I sampled some of the other nigiri as well. It was definitely a tasty dinner!

I absolutely love this place! Delicious food and friendly staff! The waitress is always super nice and welcoming. The foods presentation is always above and beyond. It's a relaxing place to hangout and eat lunch or dinner. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi! Even to those who don't! They have great katsu! There seems to be something here for everyone.

(FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

It was Father's Day, so of course it was busy. But the food was subpar, it came out in indefinable intervals, and we weren't really checked on at all. The sushi - when it finally showed up - was good, but the grilled beef was fatty and greasy. The Chicken 'Katsu' was soggy. Some items - despite taking what seemed like forever to arrive - felt and tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Horrible experience for $100. We won't be back.
