Okay wait because I actually have mixed feelings about Sushi Samba. First of all, the place itself is BEAUTIFUL. Super trendy, super vibey, definitely one of those spots you dress up for. The female employees at the front were a littleeee stuck up honestly, but whatevas lol. Now our waiter Nick? AMAZING. Seriously one of the best servers I've had in a long time. Professional, attentive, understanding, and just handled everything so gracefully. The food overall was good... BUTTTT I made the mistake of ordering the steak at a sushi spot. And before you judge me, I was SO excited for it okay?? Huge mistake. The second that plate came out... omg. The smell alone literally made me nauseous. It had such a strong gamey smell/taste that I physically had to push the plate away from me. I felt SO bad asking Nick to take it back because this was genuinely my first time ever sending food back at any restaurant ever. CRYING EMOJI. But Nick handled it beautifully and made me feel way less awkward about it. BUT honestly, once we sat down, the service was incredible. They constantly changed out our plates, paid attention to every little detail, and everyone was so attentive. At one point I quietly asked for a paper napkin because I needed to spit out my gum lol. The sweet bus boy immediately asked, "For your gum?" and when I nodded yes out of embarrassment, he literally stood there waiting so he could take the napkin away immediately after. The attention to detail??? I'm obsessed. So yeah... maybe don't order the steak lol. But the service once you make it to your table. absolutely made the experience worth it.

Sushisamba is fairly new, but you'd never know it because our server Marco did an amazing job taking care of our table. From the moment you take the elevator up to the rooftop, the ambiance completely transports you--the beautiful outdoor seating gives major European vibes. This was the perfect place to take pictures for girls night dinner! The food presentation across the board was beautiful. Here is the honest breakdown of our spread: The Showstoppers: Churrasco Rio Grande (10/10): The absolute table favorite. It came out with a perfect crust, a flawless medium-rare cook, and was so incredibly juicy it melted in our mouths. The steak was so tasty that I don't even remember what the chorizo on top tasted like! Crispy Yellowtail Taquitos (9/10): My personal favorite. Packed with fresh fish and a perfect balance of citrus and smoky sauce. Pão de Queijo: Light, airy, cheesy, and perfectly chewy. What blew us away was the truffle honey butter on the side--that hint of sweetness is a game-changer. Samba Lima Roll: Fresh fish, and the passionfruit sauce was a really delicious, unique touch. The Skips: Kari Kari: Very basic and a pretty small portion. The rice wasn't crispy enough, leaving the whole bite a bit mushy and one-dimensional. Salmon Seviche: A bit disappointing. The marinade was lost, and it just tasted like average salmon sashimi. I'd skip this one. Mushroom Arroz Chaufa: This missed the mark for me. The truffle was so overpowering you couldn't taste the mushrooms. It was incredibly heavy, rich, and lacked texture since both the mushrooms and quinoa rice are soft. It really needed a crunchy element, and it was the only dish we left behind. Overall, come for the stunning views, the top-tier service from Marco, and stick to the steaks, taquitos, and cheesy bread!

Visiting this rooftop felt like a beautiful midsummer night's dream. The venue perfectly blends a vibrant Miami vibe with stunning West Hollywood views and sunset. Their menu is truly unique, offering a fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. It was my first time trying the Moqueca Mista (a Brazilian seafood stew), and it was an absolute highlight! The Samba Roll and the Sea Bass were also incredibly well-executed and flavorful. Between the breathtaking views, the beautiful colorful decor, and the incredible food, everything about the night was perfect. I will definitely be back!

Finally got the chance to come here and I'm so glad! Almost everything was really good. My favorites were the Seviche Classico and the seabass skewers. I could just grab the Seviche Classico bowl and drink it! So refreshing and tasty and there a generous amount of fish in it. The seabass skewer was delicious and melted in your mouth. I definitely want to order more of the ceviche and skewer plates next time I come. The yellowtail taquito was great as well it had a lot of flavor and perfect amount of crunch. I would order again and I want to try the Japanese Kobe one next time. The Brazilian cheese bread was so delicious with the truffle honey butter that is a must order and the shishito peppers were very flavorful. The Nashi cocktail is very good too very refreshing. Welcome to the rainforest dessert was good and I liked how light it was but I would like to try a different dessert next time. My only complaints are how slow it was and a few dishes were lacking. We arrived at 10:10 for our 10 pm reservation but didn't get seated until 11 pm and the waiter was very nice but we didn't get started on our order until a while after too and it took a long time to pay our bill as well. It was very busy and everyone is trying to go here so I understand! I also wouldn't recommend the El Topo or the Chocolate Banana Cake. The El Topo roll lacked flavor for us and the banana chocolate cake had way too much rum flavor it was overpowering. The Kari Kari was just okay for me too but my friend liked it. The restaurant itself is very sexy and I love how lively it was. It was definitely a vibe being there and it's nice to have a restaurant open late in LA with fun vibes. I'll definitely be back!

We came on a Saturday evening at five. Got seated at a bar right away. We Asked for a table to get apps and for two hours were not seen or addressed about that. Pros- I loved the capariñia drink. We met the manager who was friendly. Our bartender at the beginning was great. Then we got switched to OLEK. He was horrible and condescending. We had to move just to avoid him. We sat in the lounge seating and ordered and the service is great there. They don't let you order food anywhere except at the tables so we had to leave because we were hungry and couldn't get a table after two hours. There was a whole section that was open as we were leaving. The vibes are OK. There is a view and there's a DJ but overall it feels very forced. Maybe because it's new? I don't think I'll be back.

Beautiful restaurant and great hard working service. Food was exceptional. Better than expected for sure. Everything ordered was 9-10 out of 10! Fresh, flamboyant flavors. Left feeling satiated and full but still feeling good!

My 3300 review is easily awarded to tonight's dinner at Sushi Samba in West Hollywood! Here we go... I'm so jazzed about Sushi Samba and I'm so grateful to have scored a reservation here today, 4/20/26! I called yesterday and spoke with Toni and was fortunate enough to be waitlisted. This morning I received a text saying we are IN!! What an incredible experience this was!! We had a great server named Sheryl and she's so accommodating and understands my gluten free needs. We ordered the tiradito which was so delicious. I love the Peruvian corn and the mango sauce was divine. We love the sea bass skewers and devoured 1 each then ordered the black cod which wasn't nearly as good but bf liked it. Everything was good and the service and views are A+. I highly recommend!!

We were a group of 5 friends who hadn't seen each other in a while. We had a 5:00 reservation and were told we must be prompt and we were limited to 2 hours of dining. I get its a new hip place, but then open on time and don't use up my allotment. Once we were sat our waiter was very friendly and helpful, but I felt like they were pressuring us to get on with our ordering. Once we ordered, the food came out very quickly, and people were hovering to clear our plates. In the middle of the meal, we ordered an additional glass of wine. Three out of four made it to the table and we had to ask multiple times for the fourth glass. A little past our 2 hour limit we were asked to leave and told we could sit in the bar area which just seemed a little weird and honestly a bit off putting. The restaurant itself is tres chic and has a cool vibe. There is a DJ playing background music, which made the environment quite enjoyable. It is a rooftop bar so if you're there around sunset, you might get some blinding sun in your eyes so bring your shades, depending on where you sit. The food was great! Each dish was very flavorful and delicious. My favorites of the night were the Mushroom Chaufa and the Black Cod. I would definitely comeback once the novelty wears off. Maybe there won't be so much rigidness and it becomes a place were you don't feel rushed and you can enjoy a meal with friends.

Expectedly overpriced but worth it for special occasions in my opinion! You're paying for the vibe and solid sushi. It felt like Miami with the live DJ and beachy decor. Highly recommend the pao de queijo with honey truffle butter, but everything was delicious.

3/5 ! absolutely love the ambiance of places like this, albeit the lackluster flavors and objectively mid taste of the foods lower my rating scale. a typical table can host parties of 8, and it's already pretty tight to sit in!

I would recommend this restaurant for its delicious food, ambience, and service. It's pricey but the experience was worth it. There was one drawback, they forgot my wine I had ordered to go with my meal we had to remind them but it was 20 minutes later. It happens...I would still go back. The table reservation was limited and we exceeded our time by half an hour. We were asked politely if we needed anything else or join their lounge area, but their next reservation was approaching. We understood and were lucky to have been given extra time.

I get that new restaurants have kinks to work out, but the staff here feels like they're auditioning for Mean Girls: Hospitality Edition. Confused, slightly hostile, and somehow still condescending. We check in for our reservation and immediately get hit with a scowl and a "just so you know there's a cake fee." No hello, no welcome--just scowls lol. Then we're seated in the darkest corner of the restaurant... while it's basically empty. We politely ask if we can move to a brighter, more central table, and the hostess has to "check with the team." Girl... the team is 80% empty tables?? Service? Glacial. Our server would disappear for 20 minutes at a time like he was on a side quest. The entire meal took almost 4 hours, and over half of that was just... waiting. The logic here also makes zero sense. At first, we're offered an extra chair or to squeeze into the booth. We say we'll wait for our full party. Once everyone arrives, we ask for the chair--and suddenly it's "not allowed." Meanwhile, there are empty chairs everywhere and tables around us with more seating. Make it make sense. We end up awkwardly cramming into the booth like it's a budget airline. Now the cake saga. They bring us plates... disappear... come back 20 minutes later asking if we want dessert. We ask for our cake. It arrives. No knife. Another 20 minutes. We flag him down, and he asks if we want it cut in the kitchen or a knife at the table. We ask for a knife... and at this point, we're so over it we ask if they can waive the cake fee. Manager comes over and gives us a whole speech about why they charge a $7 per head cake fee (sir, read the room), then begrudgingly waives it "this one time." Also tells us they're not allowed to give us a knife. Cool--then why was that even an option?? Now, credit where it's due: the food is actually solid. * Pão de queijo: light, fluffy, addictive * Miso cod + mushroom risotto: chef's kiss * Spicy tuna crispy rice: meh BUT here's the real issue--my friend announced her pregnancy at dinner, so we were being careful about raw food. We asked if the wagyu sushi roll was fully cooked. Our server confidently says yes. It comes out... very much not fully cooked. We try to ask him about it--and he vanishes into the abyss, never to be seen again. By the time we're ready to pay (hours later), we can't find our server anywhere. After waving at ghosts for 20 minutes, we walk up to reception and hand them our card. They literally swipe it... then tell us to go sit back down and wait for our server. ???? When he finally reappears, we have to tell him where our own credit card is so he can go find it. Honestly, what a mess. Good food trapped in a wildly disorganized, unnecessarily snobby experience. I do not have 4 hours to donate to confusion and attitude. Oh--and if you're street parking, keep feeding the meter unless you want to just surrender and pay the $30 valet.

Food: the food was amazing! Our favorites were the yellowtail taquitos, churrasco, mushroom arroz, and the Kari kari! Everything was flavorful and beautifully plated Service: Service was amazing and very attentive! Our waiters Marco and Alex were great! We wanted all the food to arrive all at once (we didn't care about the temperature of the dishes haha) and Marco made it happen! He was extremely sweet and was overall so fun!! I apologize for asking for many requests but I'm so so so thankful that you made this experience wonderful :') Ambiance: the ambiance was insane! It was very lively and the vibe was curated so nicely I loved everything bout the design! Overall I would definitely come again and my friends and I had the best time ever!!! YAY!!

I was afraid that everything was going to be extremely heavy, like French cuisine can be with all the cheese and butter. But I ordered the Combo of the Lemon Butter Chicken Ramen and a side of the Miso Teri Bowl (in case the ramen would be too much for me), and I was blown away by both dishes. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

I really wanted to like this place, but whatever Kopan Sushi and Ramen Bar looks like online is…read moreabsolutely not what you get in person. We came in on a rainy day thinking this would be a cozy sushi and ramen spot to warm up, and instead it turned into one of those experiences where you're annoyed before the food even hits the table. It was not busy at all when we walked in, and there were multiple empty tables in the front section. We were seated in the back and asked if we could sit in the front instead. We were told no because the roof was leaking. Okay, fine. We sit down near the sushi bar and immediately notice it is extremely warm. Like uncomfortable, stuffy, why is it this hot warm. We came to warm up with ramen, not feel like we were trapped in a heated room. I then noticed that none of the front tables we wanted to sit at actually had any water dripping on them, which already made the explanation feel questionable. About five minutes later, a party of four gets seated in that exact front area we were told we could not sit in. Nobody had left the restaurant. Nothing changed. That was already frustrating. We finally speak up again and say it is way too warm and ask if we can move to the front. Suddenly it is no problem at all. We get moved. No water leaking. Still raining outside. So what was the truth, because it clearly was not the roof. Now let's talk about the food, because this is a sushi and ramen bar and that should be the strong point. We ordered a couple of appetizers, a bento box, and a ramen. Everything was incredibly bland. Like shockingly flavorless. The sushi had no punch, the ramen had no depth, and the overall taste was just flat. It needed salt, seasoning, something. There was not even salt on the table, which honestly felt like a perfect summary of the entire meal. For the price point, this was extremely disappointing. The only reason this place is getting two stars instead of one is because of the staff who were actually working hard. The servers were attentive, quick, and clearly doing their best in an uncomfortable environment. You could tell they were on edge, but they were still on it and responsive whenever we needed something. That effort did not go unnoticed and they deserve credit. Without them, this would have easily been a one star experience. It also was not just me. I came with two other people and all of us felt the same way. We spent around one hundred dollars and walked out confused about how a sushi and ramen bar could miss the mark this badly on both comfort and flavor. Between the weird seating situation, the temperature issues, the noise, and the bland food, this is not a place I would return to or recommend. Two stars only for the staff. Everything else was a letdown.

Advocate for yourself when waiting for a table, don't go too far and be ready for the call! Inside isn't "cute" & they pack people in there but it's understandable because the food is so good! everything we got was amazing. if I had to have one critique on the good..I wish the tuna lemon and Philadelphia roll had more sauce!

The inside is packed but service was attentive -- they came by often to check up on us and refill water. The fish is fresh and vibrant, but they put way too sauce on some of the nigiri we got which took away from the taste. Prices are a little on the expensive side, so I recommend trying it out! We got: - spicy tuna crispy rice ($16): rly good! tuna was fresh and rice was the perfect amount of crunch - tuna lemon ($22): a little too much cilantro sauce, would order another roll next time - baby yellowtail ($8): rly good! i think they did sneak wasabi under the fish though which caught us by surprise lol - eel ($8): perfect amount of sweetness! - salmon w yuzu pepper: too much sauce; super fresh but the sauce on top was too overwhelming - toro (mp / $18): i hate it when it's priced at mp but unfortunately it was rly good and fresh, just again a little too much sauce on it ):

After a long horrible Monday I had no energy to deal with bad energy. I knew I arrived a little too soon and needed to wait. I walked in and sat down, the waitress asked if i was picking an online order and just over all took care of me from the utensils to the amount of ginger i needed. After that they handed me my order and i was out that door to sit in my car and enjoy my sushi before the 1 hour + traffic . I was praying for it to be really good sushi! And let me tell you it was fresh ! And very very enjoyable! Really good sushi ! And as an LA native it's hard to find good sushi places with good quality! Will be coming back! 10/10

We already had good street parking nearby, so we just walked over. Because it's on Fairfax near Melrose, parking definitely depends on the time and day -- it can get tricky in this area. We didn't notice any signs for parking in the back, so street parking might be your best bet. Food: We ordered three items, and everything we tried was solid, but the standout for us was the creamy ramen. We shared a bowl, but honestly, I would've happily eaten a whole one by myself if I had known how good it was. The prices were pretty reasonable for the area, and portion sizes felt fair. Service: The staff was friendly. Service was smooth, and our food came out in good time. Overall: A nice casual spot for sushi and ramen in the Fairfax/Melrose area. Good food, friendly service, and decent prices. I'd definitely come back, especially for that ramen.
