    Seafood soondubu

Came here because I needed to use my Amex platinum promo they resy as there aren't many participating restaurants in the area. I came with my wife and kids, the restaurant has a very quaint feel, but I felt the lights were a bit too dim so couldn't really see my menu very well, but that's just me. The menu had a lot of very interesting items which I would've tried if I wasn't with the kids. we didn't bother with any appetizer so we just started entrées . The salmon teriyaki bento-box, Yaki, udon, chicken teriyaki, seafood soondubu soup (surprised to see that on the menu ) and lastly, one of their special rolls. The salmon teriyaki was cooked pretty well no complaints came with a sushi roll and beef negimake, shrimp tempura all cooked well. The Yaki udon and chicken teriyaki were cooked well too really no complaints with any of the food. Service was adequate nothing special , the booths were a little bit uncomfortable I would advise sitting at the tables with regular chairs instead. The pricing on the food is reflective of the area that the restaurant is located in which is Woodberry and many of the restaurants around the area charge accordingly of course I probably would've never come here if it wasn't for my AMEX promo, but if I had to, I would come back and maybe just try their lunch specials.

Had take out for lunch, it certainly was a great experience. Went with the sashimi sushi combo as I'm trying be a bit more health conscious. The meal was amazing. It was so fresh. Their garden salad also has some corn and onions which are a nice touch. I will be returning often for the sashimi lunch.

Really great sushi and related foods. Huge portions and reasonable prices. Attentive service. Interior design could use a refresh.

Amazing and fresh sushi as always. Volcano roll was made to look like a volcano. Toro was very fresh and buttery.

Heard about this new sushi place opening and I knew I had to go with my close friend for our monthly sushi date. We were greeted upon entering and brought to a booth. We both started with a kani salad. It was delicious! It wasn't overdressed with spicy mayo, and it had a great cucumber/crab balance. For my sushi roll I ordered the parfait roll. It was super fresh and very yummy. I forgot what roll my friend ordered and I also didn't take a picture, but she enjoyed it. Service was good. We weren't rushed. Our waitress checked on us often to see if we were okay and if we needed anything. Water constantly refilled when empty. Menu looked very good. Looking forward to going back and trying more yummyness.

Continuing on the quest for great sushi in my area, we decided to give SushiVogue a try. The name was a tiny bit off putting but my Yelp brethren were in favor so we were in. We went early (around 5:15) and it was completely empty. The restaurant is very clean and the staff were nice and accommodating. To start, we ordered Yamiano noodles which were Japanese sweet potatoes shredded to look like noodles. They were served cold with a dipping sauce. We ordered them because they looked interesting on the menu and were feeling like we wanted to try something that we've never had before. The person who took our order came back to double check with us to make sure it was what we wanted and explained exactly what it was. Still ok by us! So the yam was perhaps raw and had a strange sticky consistency, not exactly pleasant to me but my daughter gobbled it up. I needed a lot of dipping sauce to get through it. I had a feeling it was going to be something that I wasn't used to by the way our server came back to check with us before she put the order in. The presentation was very classy. We moved on to a lobster Naruto roll, mango madness roll and a spicy crab roll. All very fresh and delicious. This was definitely the best Sushi I've had so far in this area. It was definitely a step above every other place I've been to. My daughter had a bubble tea which was delicious, not to sweet. And she was in agreement about the quality of the food. By the time we were ready to leave, the restaurant filled up quite a bit, almost every table was full. We will definitely be back. I actually want to go right now!

The shopping center where this restaurant is located in Plainview is always packed and although it's plenty busy, there are plenty of parking spaces for the multitudes of folks going here or there. When seated, drink orders were taken straight away and delivered promptly. Kids got Japanese Soda and iced tea. For the adults, Mrs me and I split a hot sake and paired it with a beer and a saketini. Our friend ordered a tequila based drink and enjoyed it. Service was fantastic from the hibachi chef who really engaged us all and put on quite a show. He has the right personality to interact with a large group and presented a plate that was delicious and pleasing to the eye. Food was great and I would like to recommend the Chilean sea bass and short rib combo. Sushi and sashimi were very fresh and delicious. Fried rice and noodles were cooked perfectly and the whole meal didn't break the bank. Well done!

We decided to give them another chance and returned today, only to have another frustrating experience. We made a reservation specifically for hibachi. When we arrived and told them we had a hibachi reservation, we were simply told, "No, not right now." There was no apology, no explanation, and we weren't even given the option to wait for a hibachi table. At that point, what was the purpose of making a reservation? We ended up sitting at a regular table and still ordered hibachi dinners. To make matters worse, our food came out at different times instead of all together, so some of us were eating while others were still waiting for their meals. One of the main reasons we chose hibachi was for the experience, the ability to enjoy the meal together, and to celebrate my friend's birthday. A reservation that isn't honored made for a very disappointing visit. After giving this restaurant a second chance, we will not be returning.

The place was decorated with red heart balloons everywhere. My daughter loved this and wanted to take one. She wasn't able to, but the really nice sushi chefs did give her kani, which she loved. We started with hot tea, which was delicious. Kumo has a great lunch special. I took advantage of it and got the sushi and sashimi special. It consisted of a tuna roll, 5 pieces of sushi and 10 pieces of sashimi. Was very filling, fresh and delicious. Came with miso soup and salad. I enjoyed the salad, but their miso soup wasn't so great. I did not finish it. My husband also took advantage of the lunch special and ordered the 3 roll combo. He really enjoyed all of his rolls. My daughter had the tatsuta age. She absolutely loved it as it was basically chicken nuggets with panko. She is a huge chicken nugget fan and it's hard to find her things to eat usually at Japanese places as she isn't a fan of teriyaki chicken. Happy to know she likes this as well as Kani now. I ordered the soba noodles with chicken and vegetables to take out and the dish contained 80% greasy noodles with a smattering of chicken and a little green from an unidentifiable vegetable. The only positive thing to say about this place is that their sushi is decent. Someone else ordered the vegetable teriyaki and got 2 pieces of broccoli and a carrot as their vegetables. No pea pods, bok choy, water chestnuts, onions, peppers, string beans etc. Just miserly portions with lots of oil, filler and hardly any protein or vegetables. Also their prices are sky high and their quality scrapes the bottom of the barrel. Never Again!!!

The owner, Kelly, also greeted us. Kelly is always warm and gracious, and her wonderful smile truly brightens the entire room. Since we arrived a little earlier tonight, we settled into our usual large booth by the front, our favorite spot. It was cozy and comfortable, making the evening even more relaxing. The sushi has been consistently fresh and delicious. We usually order the Sushi for Two to share, but tonight, after finishing our first order, we immediately ordered a second one. It was simply that good--and we couldn't stop! We did the exact same thing last week, which says a lot about how much we enjoy the sushi here. The Sushi for Two generally includes 18 pieces of premium-quality fish, such as King Salmon, Bluefin Tuna, Fatty Tuna, Madai, Branzino, and more, along with a choice of two signature makimono rolls. We always choose the Dozo Dozo for me and the Angel Roll for hubby. Each order also comes with a choice of soup or salad, and we always go with the soup. Tonight, we also ordered a large bottle of chilled Dassai 45 sake. It was aromatic, fruity, and slightly sweet, with a wonderfully smooth and flavorful taste that paired beautifully with the sushi. We enjoyed it so much that we wished we could finish the entire bottle, but since we had to drive home, we stopped halfway and took the rest home with us. We were actually happy to have some left to enjoy later at home. Another wonderful evening, and another reminder of why we keep coming back almost every week!

The fish is well prepared for sushi that there is none of that fishiness. Nigiri is made at the right firmness unlike rice ball like sushi we often see. Roll has none of that over powering taste. Miso soup is proper and again, none of the salty soup we often experience. Combined with proper Gali (pickled ginger) and better than average wasabi, you can enjoy really good sushi. A class above others in the area.
