Literally forget what you heard about bakers donuts off Florin Road. It's all about sweet dozen. Number one, the area, ain't nobody trying to get donuts and have peddlers and all kind of homeless begging for money and donuts as you try to go grab a quick maple bacon bar. Second, the type of donuts are of better quality and size. The donuts at sweet dozen include the maple bacon bar which is dense and has not than a cheap piece of Walmart bacon, the pop tart donut filled with either strawberry, root beer, orange cream. Cronuts(croissant/donut combo) are amazing too. They also do donut melts which include ice cream and custom topping on a donut. Which is what they offer at the The Parlor..so instead of going to the parlor to pay extra based off of name recognition just stop by sweet dozen. Third, which should be first, the incredible staff. This donut shop is simply amazing! I had the maple bacon doissant (aka cronuts or croissant/donut hybrid) and crumble twisted bar, which were both really delicious. My friends and I came around 10:30am, and they still tasted really fresh. The doissant had the perfect texture so it's definitely a must try here! Overall, the donut shop also had a nice decor. They only have a few tables, but it can fit a good amount of people. They also have some board games and a good selection of drinks. Stopped in today to pick up a couple donuts for my friend's birthday. This cute little donut shop is very welcoming and in a very accessible location. I was very impressed with the selection! This bakery is the cutest! I bookmarked long ago based on the great reviews. The lot was pretty empty this morning so I decided to stop in. Note: don't let the look of the lot fool you! Small shop with a few tables, large bakery cases and friendly, smiling staff. The cases were full of yummy goodness, including some festive donuts, and I commented to the cashier that I assumed by the reviews the place would be packed. She replied, "You're late, the rush is long gone, we are out a lot of donuts." I couldn't tell because the cases were about 90% full; shows you Sweet Dozen manages their fans well lol. We settled on the banana fritter, crumb doissant, and traditional raised glazed donuts. The banana fritter had real banana (score!), and bits of tender apple. A bit smaller than the traditional oversized fritter, but does the job and packs a serious punch for your sweet tooth palette. Not the best. Dough is so thick, it got stuck in my throat and overpowered with vanilla. Positive is that it's not greasy. Mochi dough is really good though. A colleague brought in a box of Sweet Dozen about a month ago and I'm still thinking about the crumb doissant (no, autocorrect, NOT dissent) that I had the joy of tasting. A doissant is part croissant, part donut, and 100% perfect covered in that brown sugar/spice mix crumb goodness. I've tried Sweet Dozen at their Madison Ave location and the Sunday Farmer's Market in midtown. Great service and amazing donuts each time. When I visited the Madison Ave location they were about an hour away from closing for the day (why can't you be open 24/7?!) so they generously gave me 5 extra donuts plus a handful of donut holes! It definitely made my week and my family was sure happy. There only 3 doissants left in the glaze or cinnamon sugar left at that time, so be sure to go early if you want the best flavors. At the Sunday Farmer's Market they have a cute trailer with donuts in display in their window. They had quite a line when I went, but it moved quickly and is worth standing in the rain to get a treat.
