Review for a Saturday breakfast: Food is great--tastes like Kitchen Story in SF. Got the Francis soufflegg skillet, loco moco, chicken croffle. Would recommend all of those. The chicken is thinner than you'd expect from a chicken and waffle but still good. Loco moco isn't spicy so don't worry about that if you're not good with spice. Soufflegg is huge and comes with a side of eggs and slice of bread. The Francis comes topped with chicken sausage and bacon bits. It's pretty busy no matter what time in the morning you come, but the food comes quick. Only minor thing (first world problems) was the tables are really close together so you'll get pretty comfy with your neighbors. Otherwise a nice breakfast. read more

Sweet Maple recently opened a Cupertino location. I was intrigued by the asian fusion brunch concept, so I put it on my bucket list of restaurants to visit while I was back home for winter break. Furthermore, there was a line out the building everytime I passed by. Our first attempt to go was at 11:30am on a Tuesday. Upon arrival, there is a yelp waitlist at the front. the wait was 50 minutes. Better luck next time! We tried again the following day at 10:30am to beat the lunch crowd. The wait was only 15 minutes, and we were seated inside with the beautiful Christmas decorations. The service was impeccable. Our waiters were extremely polite and attentive throughout the entire meal despite the never ending stream of customers. The food came incredibly fast too! We ordered: Chicken Croffle: a beautiful stack of fried chicken on top of a croffle (croissant cooked with a waffle iron). The serving of fried chicken was generous, and the croffle elevated the dish with the buttery and soft texture. The standout dish for sure. Tornado Galbi Omurice: a tornado shaped scrambled egg laid upon a bed of fried rice, slathered in rich gravy. This dish also came with soft galbi. While I don't have any complaints about the dish, it did not stand out as much as the other dishes. Would not reorder if I come another time. Pimped up Ramyun: A stunning presentation of Shin noodles decorated with vegetables and a slab of the iconic Millionaire's Bacon.  The concept is very simple, but the presentation truly makes this dish a must order. Millionaire's Bacon: The thickest slices of bacon you will ever eat! A satisfying blend of sweet and savory. Our waters were filled every few minutes, the food was tasty, and the ambiance was beautiful. I recommend Sweet Maple to groups looking for a unique and memorable fusion breakfast. It was pouring rain when I went Saturday, but the wait list was absolutely packed anyways. I got there around 1PM and there were 16 parties on the waitlist! Regardless, I went with my boyfriend so we just idle talked outside (they had umbrellas and heaters) for roughly an hour. The interior is very cute, had a very classy modern brunch plate feel with white accents. There were a decent amount of tables, but I would say if you were going to bring a big party, I'd limit it to 6 max. The wait staff was friendly and quick to respond despite how busy they were. I checked reviews and it seems like the kitchen specialties are the reason to be here -- all the other things are rather overpriced. I saw and listened by ordering the chicken croffle. It was a big stacked baby!! Three delightfully bouncy fried chicken stacked on a croffle, paired with fruits, walnuts, and syrup. There was this peppery taste that I couldn't quite figure out if it was from the chicken batter or syrup, but it was quite a delicious punch. I personally think croffles are slightly overrated, just a flattened croissant, but still tasted good. I think it was a perfect punch of sweet and savory with a bit of spice. If I was willing to wait again, I'd definitely want to try out their lengthy alcohol list and their other kitchen specials. read more

We ordered a blueberry moffle, kids pancake and egg plate with their millionaire's bacon (original). Plating is very pretty and the food is good (but not remarkably so to merit the price). Service was good from some staff, less so from other staff-- while some took initiative to check in on us when they saw we had a finished plate or empty coffee cup, others walked by several times (it is a small space) and we had to ask for a coffee refill despite having placed our cups by the table edge to indicate they were empty. I've been to this place twice. The first time I ordered the Hemingway ($26), and I ordered French Toast for my mom. I was blown away at the combination of flavors achieved on my eggs benedict, and the combination of textures for mom on her French toast. The second time I ordered the Marnier ($16) with the Citron Millionaire's Bacon, and a cup of their house coffee. The french toast did not disappoint, even though I already had high standards, but the bacon was outstanding (unbelievably good). Add to that the really good coffee, and it was an outstanding meal. Every time I go to this place I have to wait in line, and sometimes, the line is much longer than others. However, in both my experiences, the food has always been worth the wait. read more

I really enjoy the Tornado Galbi and the Loco Moco here! We've also tried the Chicken Croffle and omelets and skillets. Food has a consistent flavor since I've been to multiple locations. Just know that Sweet Maple costs more than a typical brunch place. When it comes to service, I like this place more as the staff are pretty attentive and always refill our water and check in on us. The place has outdoor and indoor dining so it's great for pets! Parking can be challenging but there's residency parking a block down -- we usually do that and just walk down. read more

I always wanted to try Sweet Maple but I could never wake up early enough drive to the locations in Palo Alto or San Francisco so I'm so glad they opened this location nearby! When I heard about their opening, I immediately planned a brunch date with my best friend. Because this location is hot and new, parking was quite hard to find. If you're coming here on a weekend, prepare to wait a while! There's also very limited parking in their lot so you'll have to find street parking somewhere and walk over. The whole party has to be there for you to be seated. It did open recently so hopefully the crowds will be less intense in time! The shop itself is well decorated and cute! Happy I finally the chance to try this place! Ever since I saw this featured on an ig foodie account, I've been really wanting to go. We came here on a Sunday for brunch around 10am. When I went to put my name down on the waitlist, it said the wait was about 25-35 minutes for a party of 2 which didn't seem too bad. After about 30 minutes of waiting, I went to check my name on the iPad and didn't see it at all. I guess for some reason it didn't go through or I never clicked confirm? Either way, we were pretty bummed since we thought we'd have to wait an ADDITIONAL 45 minutes from that point. Fortunately, the hostess was very accommodating and told us she'd help seat us. We waited about another 20 minutes after that (so maybe 50 minutes to an hour in total) before we were finally seated. People who had been waiting at the same time as us were literally already eating their food by the time we were seated but oh well, thank god the hostess tried her best to seat us when she could. We ordered the matcha moffle, tornado galbi omurice, millionaire's candy bacon & an iced ube latte. The matcha moffle was delicious - matcha was subtle and the mochi part of the waffle really solidified how good it was. Next time I'd love to try the blueberry moffle. The tornado galbi omurice was good too, I thought it was a unique dish but as a whole, it wasn't necessarily life-changing. Now that I've tried it, I probably wouldn't get it again since it's really just rice, egg and some galbi meat. The millionaire's candy was interesting... I couldn't really tell if I liked it when I first took a bite. It was sweet and definitely unlike typical bacon. It was good, but borderline overly sweet imo. The iced ube latte tasted like a cake type of drink, and it came bigger than I expected. As a sweet drink, this paired well with the savory galbi omurice! Presentation-wise, of course all the dishes were IG-worthy. This was a very pricy brunch, I can't totally say it's worth the price. I'd come back again to try some of the other dishes but this is definitely a once in a while type of place to eat at. Parking was plentiful around the restaurant so that wasn't an issue. The restaurant is super noisy. We were seated at a big long table with a large party and that was just weird to me. They were a bunch of coworkers on their lunch break so they were loud - one even took a call and didn't even leave to go outdoors. (Obviously not the restaurant's fault, but didn't enjoy sharing a table with them.) There was a hair on the table, probably left behind when it was wiped down. Kinda gross. Not really feeling the upholstered chairs either. The food was just okay. The Brussels sprout dish was fine, but the server just plunked the bowl down on our table without any serving utensils or small plates.... My omelette was good but it's kind of hard to screw up an omelette. I know everyone is raving about the millionaires bacon, but hey there's a fab restaurant in Campbell that has superior bacon and KFC. Anyway, the most annoying part is that I had my younger daughter with me who is a picky eater and she wanted a grilled cheese. (She's 12.) So she ordered off the menu and then the server came back and said the kids' menu is for 10 and under. Okkkkkk, that's fine, but also - never been told that at a restaurant before. We always order appetizers and drinks, we're not trying to skimp on the bill, she's just picky and prefers simple food. I worked it out with the server to make a grilled cheese but keep it basic - bread and cheese, nothing fancy. It just seemed petty AF. We came for an early weekend morning breakfast, a group of four, braving the cold knowing that Sweet Maple has made it down from SF to the heart of Silicon Valley. We had prepped ourselves with warm clothes, since all of the reviews before had said it's a first-come first-serve situation, no waitlist, limited parking, and in-demand breakfast spot. We got there right when they opened at 8am and were seated promptly, with a bunch of others already waiting too. The food came out all at different times which was kind of a drag. I couldn't eat mine until everybody's items arrived at the table. Plus my food arrived before my drink, so that was a little odd for the timing of the experience. BESIDES the point of formalities, everybody's food looked bomb dot com and our drinks were definitely bougie and well-crafted. I had their ube latte and chicken and mochi waffles. The chicken was crispy and little on the crunchier side. The mochi waffle was fantastic, I love mochi texture so it's a win for me. The egg egg souffle also looked delicious, and seemed the best bang for your buck. My friend's salmon benny looked fantasticly runny. And the french toast also was a beautiful sight, but definitely on the smaller portion size. A lot of their breakfast items were sweet and some salty (uniquely with a Korean twist like kalbi or seafood stew). But I was definitely feeling a mix of both since my ube latte was a rich dessert. We sat indoors and it was opulence to the t. The light fixtures were chandeliers and the interior had a glacier-white hue to everything, it really made me feel like spillage was a no-no. Plus the seats were plush! Sweet Maple is definitely here to stay though. It stands high in rank with other local top breakfast spots like our staples LG Cafe, Cafe SJ, and the not-so-newbies Bloom and Funny Farm. I also love that they have indoor AND outdoor seating, tons of unique food items, and is a great spot for all group sizes and age ranges. We came on a really hot 95F day for lunch. After we were seated no one came to take our drink order or give us some ice water for almost ten minutes, even though we just waited under the hot sun a long time for a table. Finally a waiter came over and we ordered drink and food. Food was served in five minutes. But ridiculously, there was no silverware or napkins for our party on our table. So we couldn't start eating! Took some time for the waitress to see we needed help again. The staff seem very poorly trained and don't know how to work with each other. Maybe it's too much to ask for some cold water right away after waiting for a long time under hot sun, but when food is served there's no silverware for us to eat with that is totally unexpected. Neither the host, nor the first waiter, nor the food server noticed we had no silverware to eat with. There isn't enough staff for the lunch crowd. If the management wants to seat 30 tables but only hire enough staff for 20tables, that is just throwing service out of the window. Lunch here is easily $40 per head ($25 entree, a drink, 9% tax, 18% tip). There is just not enough service for us to return at this price. read more

Came here on a Saturday around noon in a party of 2. They have a Yelp waitlist at the entrance but it's in-person only (can't join waitlist online). The wait on a busy Saturday for us was about 1 hour. Not too bad, we walked to a nearby Daiso and Japanese market to kill time. The parking lot is extremely small and limited, but there's other parking at buildings nearby. The inside was bright, modern, and clean and they also have outdoor seating. The servers here were attentive- took our order soon after we were sat and came by frequently to refill water. We ordered the millionaire's bacon, matcha and ube lattes, galbi omurice, Thai cioppino, and the matcha moffle. To start, the bacon was so good, I can see why they're famous for it. All packed with flavor and accurately tasted like their descriptions. Millionaire's Bacon Rating: 5/5 I'd say the same about the lattes- most places I've been to that do ube drinks don't actually taste like it, but these lattes have that subtle but still noticeable flavor of matcha and ube. Good addition for our brunch! Latte Ratings: 5/5 I was so excited to try the omurice as I've never had it before and while I thought the flavors were good, the sauce they used was way too sweet for me. I'm not sure if that's how omurice sauce is usually prepared, but I personally wasn't a fan of it. The meat was cooked pretty tender though- just not my favorite dish of the meal. Omurice Rating: 3/5 The Thai cioppino came with so much seafood! Clams, crab, octopus, shrimp. I was kinda surprised with how much seafood it had in it. That being said, I wish the broth had a more seafood taste to it given how much was in it. It tasted like a tomato soup. The serving size is massive though. I think this dish is well worth the money. Cioppino Rating: 4/5 For our sweet dish, we got the matcha moffle (mochi waffle) and added fried bananas and candied walnuts for an additional $4. I was pretty disappointed with the bananas- they were lightly pan fried but very soft when eating them. If you like mochi texture and more dense/chewy desserts, the moffles might be for you. I personally didn't like the chewiness of the waffle and the matcha lava was kinda just like a sweet foam, didn't really taste matcha in it. Matcha Moffle Rating: 2.5/5 Almost all the flavors here were almost spot on to how I expected them to taste based on their descriptions. My favorite item was the bacon followed by the cioppino. Previously I reviewed the Palo Alto Sweet Maple and SF's Surisan. It's a no-brainer that you should have their bacon platter every time you come here. I don't care if you don't like sweet bacon or non-crispy bacon, this is just so good and you can't really compare these with your average breakfast bacon. So all the sweet maple experiences are similar so not much to talk about: same decoration, pretty dinnerware and plating. But one thing I notice (we were having dinner) is that it seems to be a bit short staffed, servers seem very busy and we need to wave them down for ordering, water, and etc, not sure if was that particular night or something else. Liked: Bacon was still great. The curry udon with fried chicken: flavor was good, the curry sauce is a bit thicker than my liking. Chicken was very crispy and the coating is flavorful Didn't like: The omurice: reviews are great but the only thing I liked was the egg and the sauce. The egg is fine, the sauce is typical demiglace. Under the egg was the fried rice, some of them are stuck together, they fried with butter but it's kinda greasy. The galbi were the worst, not a lot of seasoning and has a weird beef flavor. I don't know how they cooked it but seems just reheated with a microwave since there's no sear/color on the meat. And the texture is rubbery, too. Everything was tasty, cooked well and was on the sweet side. The fried french was pleasantly crunchy. Mochi waffles with blueberry had a nice, long chew. With the blueberry sauce this was a very sweet dish. The sweet maple scramble with millionaires bacon was surprisingly sweet because of the bacon's heavy maple crust. Served with a nice mix of yellow and purple potatoes that helped to balance the sweetness. A little pricey, expect to pay at least $20-$25 per person for food, drinks and service. Service good. The wait on a Monday at 11am was about 10 minutes. They have a kiosk, you sign up for the waitlist, and you get a text message when your table is ready. Entire table needs to be present to be seated. The Service was a little slow to start, but they are simply very busy. Once our order was taken, everything came out pretty quickly. Their fresh OJ is indeed fresh, and their ube latte has fresh bits of blended yam on the bottom. You may not love the ube as it is more naturally flavored so will not carry a strong ube flavor. I got the dirty ube latte, and I likely would not repeat. We got: Matcha Moffle with banana walnut topping. Good. I thought the bananas would be more caramelized or even crispy. They were neither. I would try the blueberry moffle next time. Galbi Tornado OmurRice is just OK (they should not call this omurice; it's just a thin omelette they twisted from the center before plating it over rice). Nothing exciting meat, flavor or otherwise. Millionaires Bacon - citron. It was cold/room temperature; I wouldn't repeat, but my husband was enticed by it being on display on everyone's shirts. Butter fried corn - it was fine, kinda dry. Pretty presentation but you can't eat the rind so it's just corn. Flavor was good. Korean FC app, garlic butter. For my first visit, I went with the galbi omurice paired with their dirty ube latte and we shared their famous millionaire's bacon and blueberry mochi waffle. While I was a bit disappointed in the omurice (it didn't gush out when cut open like you see in the videos), I rather liked the different bacon flavors in the sampler and the chewy blueberry waffle. Me & my friends decided to have brunch at Sweet Maple and it was an amazing experience! From the moment I walked in, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was top-notch. Now, let's talk about the food was absolutely phenomenal! I decided to try their famous Matcha waffle, and it did not disappoint. It was perfect. I also ordered the Frisco scramble egg, and it's was so good . The variety on the menu is impressive, The portion sizes were generous, and every bite was packed with flavor. I honestly would wait to this place gets their service together since its still "newly" opened. I personally would rather go to the Palo Alto location even though it is smaller there than here. Food: Regular coffee is gross, I hate to say. It's been sitting in the pot too long and its burnt. My boyfriend got the loco moco that says it uses waygu beef but it was not juicy at all. Tastes overcooked. Flavor of the sauce was not bad. I ordered the blackstone benedict and only thing I liked from it was the bacon. Potatoes tasted old like it was sitting out under a heat lamp for so long. There wasn't much of it anyways. We finished out food since we haven't eaten and it was already 1. Service: A hectic mess.
