Used yelp to find a salad place in Carlsbad during a road trip. Quick serve, so you select the salad from the menu and you watch them scoop the ingredients into a bowl. They are salad artists, similar to Subway's sandwich artists. Tasty and filling for the money. Got the Super Green Goddess, with lots of different and healthy ingredients. Loved the crunchiness of the toasted almonds. Cool to see a sign with the vendors who provide their ingredients. Only issue is the men's restroom is for one, so I had to wait 10 minutes for the guy to get out. While the women's has multiple stalls, per my wife. Sweetgreen is a healthy restaurant with salads, healthy bowls and tasty ingredients. We went Sunday night at 8:20pm and was disappointed to find they were out of bread, roasted sweet potatoes and we got the last of the spicy blackened chicken for the chimichurri bowl. They said we could wait ten minutes as they cooked sweet potatoes, but they sold out of bread. That was disappointing to read the menu for my bowl after I got home and realize they forgot the wild warm rice, which is on the menu's listed ingredients for the bowl. I like this place, but I feel like you have to make sure the employees remember all the ingredients in the bowl you order. I watched the guy put stuff in my bowl, which is fun. I've been soo many times wanting to like it or believing I just didn't order right, but I've tried about everything on the menu. Completely unsatisfactory. Especially the fish bowl. I went in to order a plate and this girl named Nina helped me out. Right off the bat she was so rude when she greeted me. I asked for a rice bowl and she started getting snappy at me and said yea a bowl. I corrected her and said nono a plate. She got really huffy and puffy with me and I could tell she was getting frustrated. When she went to put my sauce on SHE ASKED ME what sauce I wanted and I asked for miso dressing. Nina the blonde who was working this morning has to be one of the rudest people I have ever met in my life. She refused to give me a bowl and was constantly giving me attitude. She charged me double and when I said "excuse me" she pretended not to hear me and looked the other way even though she was standing right in front of me. Customer service big fail! The pushy, impatient male cashier (in his late 30's/early 40's) who disregarded my several requests for patience was rude. I was engaging with the woman who prepared my salad. A blurted out interruption came from the register, "Anything to drink?!" I held up my finger to ask him to wait. He flippantly states, "This is how we do things here." Since I ordered extras on my salad, I would have preferred to be present at the register upon checkout. I left feeling bewildered & a bit looked over; unheard. The vibe in the restaurant was impersonal to say the least. When did customer service ever become about the cashier & not the consumer? If I could eat sweetgreen everyday, I would. I am so happy this location exists because it's much closer to me than the locations in LA. My favorite salad is the guacamole greens salad with a hard boiled egg. Staff is extremely nice and generous with the portions (sweetgreen is generous in general). Love how they ask much dressing you want and you can always ask for additional dressing on the same. The lime cilantro jalapeno dressing is TO DIE FOR. I love it with the salad so much. I've always been a picky eater and can never finish my food but whenever I eat sweetgreen, I clear my bowl completely. read more

On Wednesday March 6th 2024 my wife and I ordered a Kale salad at this place. Thankfully our kids ordered and ate something different. The next day, my wife and I were horribly sick. Yep...Food poisoning, from Sweet Green. It was that Kale or something in it was BAD. 4 days later; I still have diarreah. My wife still has headaches. Someone there gave us BAD shit. I am the biggest advocate for sweetgreen. I don't even live near a location, I usually drive very far just to get to the nearest one because I enjoy the food so much. On Sunday 9/18 we decided to have an early dinner at the sweetgreen in Carlsbad. I always order the same build my own bowl and have never had a problem. I always ask for a small amount of romaine and more rice. For some reason, for the employee, Liam, who was making my order, I couldn't do that. If I wanted a little more rice, I'd have to use it as one of my toppings. I said "forget it" and moved on. When my bowl was complete, I noticed he did not add the bread that comes with the bowls. I asked "Do the bowls no longer come with bread?" He then proceeded to give me a lame excuse of why they don't have the bread, but bowls do still come with bread. I asked if I could sub something in, in place of them being out of bread, and apparently he could not. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business, I was VERY disappointed in the lack of customer service at this sweetgreen location. Liam was very unhelpful and offered no apology for something that was the company's own fault. I used to RAVE about sweetgreen and how much I loved it. Sadly, I will not anymore. I've had their food a handful of times in their Santa Monica location. My coworker loved it while I thought it was ok (there were just so many yummy healthy lunch options in SM). However, in Carlsbad there's just not much tasty and healthy food for lunch, so this brought my rating to 5 stars. I'm glad we have a good healthy option. I love their kale Caesar salad, great dressing and I also love the bread that comes with it. I see some people complaining about the price point. Every time I go in this place the food is consistently good and healthy and fresh. Also everyone that works there has a friendly smile on their face which is so refreshing because a lot of the workers around here are not very friendly. If I could give this place zero I would based on the customer service. (The food is good but trust me after reading this about one of the manager's behavior you'll not want to come here) I hesitated to write this but after a friend of mine also had a bad interaction with this particular manager, I knew I had to say something. Because it's not right for people in positions of (small mind you) power to act like they're hot stuff when they're just a manager of a salad shop. The manager in question is named Luis. I was being helped by him and was met with super snarky and rude behavior. I had just seen the new marvel movie and was so excited about it and was trying to be friendly to counter act his rudeness and asked Luis if he had seen the new marvel movie. In response, he looked me dead in the eye (stopped making my salad mind you!) and told me, "no because I have taste and apparently you do not." It caught me off guard and I was like, "excuse me are you joking?" And he said, "no because not all of us are born with taste." I was so shocked by his rude behavior when I was just trying to be nice and get a nice salad that I walked out and didn't give him the satisfaction of finishing my salad so he would have to throw it out.
