Super fast, friendly service, and inexpensive! We've been to Swensens about 4 times. I'm stuck on the Galley Boy ($3.90) and potato teezers ($2.60). My husband has tried a variety of things, this time it was a coney ($2.75) with onions, mustard and cheese ($.50). We wach got an Ohio (cherry) drink ($2.00). The coney was tasty (could have been a little warmer). The Galley Boy was good (although the bun seemed either microwaved or a touch stale)..The potato teezers are a star/must order, to me. Wow, what a disappointment! I stopped by Swenson's on a trip thru Columbus this week. I had heard so much about their burger and I was pretty excited to try the Gable Boy, their signature burger. When I arrived I purposely parked directly in front of their menu board... the sandwich on the sign looked great. Unfortunately the sandwich I received was NOTHING like the sign! The buns were burnt the sandwich was a small squished mess with an olive on a toothpick stuck thru it.....the olive on the toothpick was the only thing resembling the picture. I was really unimpressed with the taste of the burger, the fried mushrooms and the banana shake were okay, nothing special... the car hop was nice and hustled with good service, but I don't know why.....I had to sit and wait anyway, he said the wireless tablets used to process our orders never work.... So I had a craving for potato tweezers from our once beloved family favorite. Unfortunately again the experience was less than desirable. The girl repeated our order twice and we were still missing items. We were unable to use our GiftCard and waited 10 minutes for the waitress to tell us while they tried to run the card on the machine inside. We still tried to remain positive and not blame the waitress-used our credit card and tipped. Only to get home and realize we were missing items and didn't have enough food for everyone. This place is worth stopping by and trying. I thought the food was good for fast food. We had the galley boy burgers which were really good but smaller than I expected. The fried mushrooms were really good with ranch (note the ranch is an extra .50 cents) we also tried the potatoe Teezers with their cajun seasoning which were awesome (note the cajun seasoning is an extra .50 cents). Their shakes rock - had the chocolate and peanut butter shake - they are a tad pricey but awesome. The service was amazing I can't believe those kids hustle like that. Goodbye old friend. I started eating there when the first opened. I loved their coney and sloppy joes but over time i noticed their buns were always stale. One time the food was so bad zi threw it out my window before I got to the light. I started trying other places but the sauce wasn't as good so after a hiatus I decided to back. Same thing. I hadn't been back for over a year but the sauce kept calling me back and i tried it again tonight. You guessed it stale buns PLUS the coneyj and sloppy Joe were COLD. When the carhop came for me to pay I told him the buns were stale and said they probably microwaved. He said no they're grilled. After reading the reviews, I had high hopes for Swenson's. The service is friendly enough, but the food I had was pretty typical of any other fast food establishment. Also, you don't want to come here if you're in a hurry. It took about fifteen minutes to receive my food after putting in my order. I'm not really sure why Swenson's business model includes guys running around the parking lot taking orders. I could tell the kids were getting exhausted and frustrated - telling people to turn their headlights on (to order, or when you're ready to pay) or off (when you're eating). Anyway, wouldn't it be more efficient to just have a drive-through? Then there's the issue with the tray not actually attaching to the door. In my case I had to hold the thing in my lap, which proved to be difficult because the tray is kind of bulky. Okay, onto the food. Today I went with their coney dogs, which were average at best. For me, the sauce was way too sweet. I ordered three and I could only get through two of them, even though I was still hungry. The sweetness just became too overwhelming. I ended up throwing the third one out. As for the fries that came with my dogs, they were "meh" as well. I'm not really sure if I'm going back to Swenson's. It felt like too much trouble for what it was worth. If I do come back though, it'll be for the much touted "Galley Boy" burger, which actually looks pretty tasty judging from the images on their menu. read more

Another curbside dining option pop up in Polaris area. When you drive in, the server immediately run to your car to take the order. If you need more time to decide, just turn down the highlights and turn it back on when you ready. In here, you can get all your hungriness and sweets fix at the same time. I also love that you can freely mix around any flavor for the milkshake.  Food is delivered fast and piping hot from the kitchen. I do recommend the Pork sandwich and the vegetable beef soup. The shake is a little bit too sweet for me, but who can say no to sweets. Glad to see another option for curbside dining and will be back to try other food items. read more

Being from Austin, Tx we didn't know what to except. The reviews that are on here don't do this place justice! There was 1 lady that was manning all the cars and she did an amazing job running from car to car. Kudos!! Food came out in minutes and was very, very good. Although, being from Texas where the motto is "everything is bigger" these burgers were pretty small. Think kids meal from whataburger small. The teezers were amazing! It has happened to me before and it happened again. Pull up with lights on and nobody comes to take order. After several minutes another cat comes in and he runs out and takes his order. I've actually waited a few days for this review because I really wanted to evaluate my experience. My mom and brother tried this place first and explained it was a drive up and eat in your car kind of place, "cool." I thought. So my daughter (8) and I were having a girls day and I thought I'd try it too. It was a rainy day so my headlights were on. When you arrive at this place you should know that your headlights are key communication to the staff. Lights on means you need them, lights off means you don't. I had my headlights on and immediately had a server out to the car. Very quick service! One of my teeny complaints was that nothing was explained to me. I wasn't asked if I had been there before and knew nothing about the process. The server guy kinda looked at me like I knew what I should be doing. Once I explained it was my first time, he then went ahead and gave me a menu and explained things to me. He also suggested the Florida drink which we LOVED! They were fast with service and prompt when I needed them! Very friendly too! Adam was the last server to help us finish out our time there. He was great in explaining how paying worked as they write the total on your tray sheet (as Adam explained to me!) and they take payment right at your car with card. The reason for 4 stars is mostly because of the cost of the food. It may be an unpopular opinion but the food is overpriced. We got a burger, kids burger, kids fry, onion rings and two drinks for $20. There was nothing SPECTACULARLY different about any of the food. (Sorry! ) so I felt $20 was overpriced especially for eating in my car too! My family felt the same when we talked about it. I'm going to a lot of flack, possibly hate mail, but it's not for me. I'm eating the burger and realize it is sweet. I'm avoiding sugar, so it really stood out. I googled it and found a copycat recipe that calls for brown sugar. I love sweets and I'm putting my stance that savory should be savory. A burger is a savory food. I mean if you have to put sugar in your burger, perhaps you really don't like meat after all. Hubby and I finished and we both realized we just didn't feel like we had a burger. This was a fun surprise! It opened five days ago and I'm not an Ohio person and knew nothing about it - apparently they're from Akron? Drive up diner where you order from a limited menu and bring it to your car window when ready. When you pay they do offer a tipping option for the food runners. They do have some fun things listed for sandwiches including fried bologna and sloppy Joe's! We got their signature galley boy burger. Super tasty. I know that Swensons is known for burgers, but I'm taking a short break from meat so I went for the grilled cheese. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Salty, buttery and a whole bunch of melty, processed yellow cheese. I ordered off of the kids menu since I wanted a small meal. The sandwich was not small, but kid entrees do not come with a side or drink. You must order those separately. Service was very friendly and I liked that I didn't have to order from a menu board. They have signature drinks, the California a grape flavored soda, Ohio a cherry flavored soda & the Florida an orange flavored soda. The Ohio is very tasty & the Florida not so much. So, I finally tried Swensons! It took me almost a year, but I finally made! My family and I decided to swing through after playing at Top Golf. The concept here is pretty simple. You pull into the parking lot, park, a runner comes out and hands you a couple menus/leaves, and then you turn your headlights on when you are ready to order. There is no indoor dining here; however, they do have outdoor restrooms. Do not expect to be in a hurry when you place your order. It seems like the place stays pretty busy so it takes a while for the food to come out. While everyone in my family enjoyed our food (all 8 of us), we were all disappointed in the burger size. I mean - the kids smashed again as soon as they got home. One of the kids had ordered a half pounder and one had ordered a triple. That tells you how small the burgers are as they came home and ate more food. I ordered the double and was pretty disappointed in the size as well. If I were to compare it to a fast food joint - I would say their burgers are as small as the patties you get on a Jr. Cheeseburger at Wendy's. They were a little dry too. I totally missed the photo op. I ordered a side of potato twisters with my burger and they were pretty good! To sum them up, they were basically tater tots with cheesy jalapeños in the inside. Loved! I also shared a chocolate milkshake with my daughter. It was thick and creamy! We both loved it! Definitely an original hamburger joint. There is no indoor seating. This is really a throwback to the carhop days of yesteryear. We pulled into our spot and we were promptly greeted by one of the many carhop's. She was very friendly and gave us a menu. You are intructed to turn your headlights on when ready to order. Once we turned on our headlights we were again promptly greeted by a smiling carhop who took our order. It did not take long for our order to literally be run to the car. I had the Galley Boy, which is the trademark burger. It did not disappoint. Boy was it delicious, hot and fresh. The burger it self was two patties and two special sauces. I also had the potato teezers which were a pleasant surprise. They are cheese and jalapeno filled potatoes, a bit of heaven if I may say. My wife had the grilled chicken which she thouroughly enjoyed. My son had the nuggets and fries. He enjoyed them as well. He also had a chocolate shake, which I had to "taste test." We went right after the Columbus Crew game, and it is my friends first time trying it(ones from California and one has never been) and we had the pleasure to have Lucas as our server. My friend decided to order every single flavor into his milkshake, unsure if they even would. Lucas was having a great time with us, serving us, laughing with us, talking with us, and he didn't skip a single car. His service is impeccable and his colleague, Andrew, was amazing as well and talked with us as well and didn't skip a single car either. The food is delicious, that isn't the problem. I waited forever to have my order taken, you know why? They had one guy running his tail off taking and delivering orders at the height of the lunch rush. This should never happen! The manager should have been running around too. Customers were awful to that guy. IT'S NOT HIS FAULT! People who treat servers disrespectfully, should be banned from the establishments. Swensons is an absolute classic and a staple in the North east Ohio region. From the galley boy, to grilled cheese they have it all here. I love the fried zucchini as well. Tried the egg nog milk shake. Very thick, very tasty. Tried the onion rings. Not enough onion to taste, tremendously thick batter. Tried a fried mushroom. Batter not as hard as it is on onion ring. More mushroom than onion. Not anything unique about flavor. Ate the half pounder plus. Don't know why it is called plus. Cones with less on it than the galley burger. Burger it self was OK. Nothing special in my opinion. Wife thought the mushrooms were OK, it was nice the onion rings had real.onions and not onion paste, and the galley burger was OK. I never heard of anyone putting tarter sauce on a burger before. My burger did taste sweet but I could not tell if it was on the burger, in the pickles or in the relidh. read more
