We used Switch 5 years ago to update all of our electrical when we bought our home and we had a good experience with Tyler. They might have outgrown some of that customer service because when I called today about 2 outlets overheating the person I talked with started by telling me they charge a $275 service charge just to come out and that they are busy until the end of the month. That seemed high to have a couple of outlets looked at but more than that, they just didn't seem that interested in the call. I usually only give good reviews but this felt like a big disappointment because we really liked Tyler and we've been recommending Switch for 5 years. Such a bummer. They handled everything with the panel, ran the new wiring without any damage to the drywall, and kept everything clean. We hired Switch Electric to install a new power outlet to our garage. We paid them $1.5k for the job. Right after they finished the work, our dryer dedicated breaker started to trip every time we would turn it on. I called switch electric within couple of weeks of the job completion to tell them there was a problem. The response I got was that I would be billed $275 for them to come out and "troubleshoot" if it was not their fault. I called them anyways and turns out the wire to the dryer breaker was burnt out. They said this could happen if the connection was loose to begin with. Now we have been living in the house (brand new construction) for over 6 years and had no problems until switch electric did the work of installing new outlet. If the wire was loose to begin with how did things work normally for 6 years!! Obviously the dryer breaker wire was dislodged/loosened during the install of the new outlet, but siwtch electric refused to accept their fault and charged me anyways. This shows a completely lack of integrity and borders on fraudulent behaviour (if I assume they loosened their wire on purpose). Anyways I am not ever going back to them again and would be read more

We have three 50+ year old flourescent lights in our kitchen. The main one started flickering or refusing to come on. Replacement bulbs made no difference. When one fixture used to light the whole kitchen, now all three lights just made it bright enough to see. Switch came out when they said they would and gave us an estimate. It was similar to others I'd gotten, so I agreed to have them replace the lights. The man doing the estimates was good. The men doing the replacement (Austin and another fellow) did a great job putting the lights in, making sure to keep the kitchen protected from debris and cleaning up afterwards. Austin was even concerned that one of the replacement lights we'd purchased torqued a bit and made sure it was flush with the ceiling. We got numerous quotes to replace our old outdated electric panel and upgrade our service from 120A to 200A - all with wildly different pricing. Joseph from Switch came out and give us an honest and fair estimate. Once we paid our deposit, they promptly got us scheduled and from there they handled the rest. Their team showed up on time promptly at 9am, completed the job as originally discussed, cleaned up after themselves, and were gone by 4:30pm a few days later, the city inspector came out and signed off on everything and from there we waited for city electric to come do their inspection and do their part for the service upgrade. Unfortunately, sometime between when Joseph quoted us and when they came to do the job, the city of Seattle began charging homeowners for reconnect fees - it was something like $900! Totally not Switch's fault - Joseph didn't know about this impending change when he quoted us. They were great though! They agreed to cover half of the fee and we so appreciated that! I've referred numerous neighbors and friends since! It's not every day that you get an honest electrician - Switch is your honest electrician! We needed some electrical work done in our garage: 2 dedicated circuits for each of the freezers, 2 outlets for garage door openers. Tyler came out for the initial estimate and was very professional. Upon inspection of our garage, he noticed that the panel was very old. Good customer service is characterized by always keeping the customer in mind. He knew that I wasn't expecting to have to do a very expensive panel change and made sure to deliver the news gently. He also gave me straightforward facts about what changing or keeping the panel would entail. Never once did I feel judged by him when I asked what would happen if we didn't change the panel. Tyler emailed the estimate to me by 5 pm the day of the estimate, just as he said he would. Scheduling the actual installation was very straightforward. I called and Ashley handled the scheduling. They were pretty booked, so she had to schedule me for a few weeks out. A couple weeks before our appointment, our ceiling fan wouldn't turn on anymore. I emailed to see if they could take a look at it the day of and Tyler replied, telling me to let the electricians know the day of the appointment and they'd take care of it. A week later, I got scheduled for mandatory training for work on the day of our appointment with Switch. I let Switch know that I could leave the key under the doormat and they could let themselves in. Ashley replied saying that it wouldn't be a problem and she'd tell the electricians to let themselves in. I got home around 2 pm the day of my appointment with Switch and they had already finished and left. All the lights were turned on. I checked the panel and it was labeled neatly with the MOST PERFECT HANDWRITING. When I saw that the ceiling fan was still broken, I remembered that Tyler's email had said for me to let the electricians know the day of the appointment. OOPS. Also a couple of the dimming lights wouldn't turn off and the wall switches were blinking. I called Switch, and they told me to call Jeremy (who did the installation) right away. I left him a message telling him about the ceiling fan and switches, and he called back promptly, saying that the switches were probably not caused by the panel change but that he'd swing by the next morning to take a look anyway. Later that evening I mashed the dimmer switches and they eventually turned off. I guess they had to be reprogrammed? OOPS #2. Jeremy came by the next morning anyway and messed around with the ceiling fan for about half and hour. He disassembled and reassembled the entire receiver and all the connections. Turns out something is wrong with receiver itself and we can purchase and install a set ourselves. We were only charged for the garage work and not the ceiling fan. Jeremy was also very professional and knowledgeable. I'd recommend Switch for any electrical work. Be prepared to wait a few weeks before your appointment! read more

Jeremy from Switch Electric came to our Lake Stevens home today to install two new electrical outlets - one in a storage closet (so we could get our rechargeable stick vacuum out of the way) and one under our kitchen sink (so we could hide our Sonicare, shaver, and Waterpik). Had a generator installed, the guys showed up when they said they would, anything that went wrong was fixed right away ( and installing a generator with a 35 year old electrical panel was a bit messy), the guys had a good attitude and were helpful answering all questions. The only thing I would mention is that after the first visit, the cleanup could have been better, wood shavings and electrical parts all over the garage. We cleaned those up, and after the second trip the cleanup was much better. Emails to office were answered promptly, although the final bill was a bit confusing. Inspection passed quickly. These guys are awesome. I heard from them within an hour of requesting a time on Angies List. That was on a Thursday. They fit me in on the following Monday. We scheduled 1pm. They got there about 1:20pm which is incredibly prompt for any contractor. Within 20 minutes they had accurately determined the cause of the broken exhaust fan (which required ordering parts) and installed a new ceiling fan for me. The cost was reasonable and the work was stellar. They offered to take the packaging for the fan away for me and said they would get me an estimate for the parts for the exhaust fan. And they did.. within 2 hours of leaving my house. It's was easy, affordable and great work. They are on my list "who to call" list from now on. read more

Joe brought a team of 5 with him and they were able to replace the wiring in every room of our 1700 square foot home in less than 2 and half days. We used Switch to re-wire our entire house, replacing ungrounded wiring and upgrading our panel in the process. They did a great job with the entire project: - Site prep was well done with all carpeting covered by plastic and drop clothes. - The work site was cleaned up as they went and there was very little mess in the house. - They brought issues to my attention as they were found and presented my options for addressing them. I never felt like I was getting pushed in a specific direction or up-sold. - They were very responsive to questions and were able to provide solid recommendations for better quality fixtures and options than we knew about. According to their technician a NEMA 5-20 outlet runs on a 240V which is hundred percent inaccurate. NEMA 5-20 outlet is 120V. I gave him a chance to rethink his answer but he was confident that NEMA 5-20 outlet runs on 240V. So that should give you an idea if this company can perform electrical work. read more
