They get 5 stars for the work and price, and 3 stars for communication. The pavers themselves look fabulous. You really won't be disappointed by the professionalism of the team working on the project or the end result itself. Seriously top notch work. They also had a very competitive bid price - I think their size lets them get great prices on the high quality pavers themselves. The reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is the communication side of things. Even at the start of the project before we had booked them, emails or calls would go unanswered for long stretches of time - think like 4 or 5 days, which can be frustrating when you are trying to get a project done in time for summer. Anytime we did meet with our representative or have communication over email, it was nothing but professional. It was the lack of responses that I found confusing given a company of this size. Additionally, this was our first time using pavers, and we weren't knowledgeable about the process. They did a great job explaining the steps, but the project itself did take longer than we were told initially (two weeks instead of a week), which is fine considering the high quality work they did. My issue came at the end, when it turned out joint locking and sealing were not included in our price. This left us with pavers that just had loose sand everywhere and we had to hire another company to come in and joint lock and seal the pavers. I just wish that had been communicated a bit more clearly up front. I would have rather had that part of the process be rolled into the one bid price rather than an extra expense at the end. This was my first experience installing pavers or any driveway for that matter. Michael and his team were fantastic to deal with; the whole process was simple. I would highly recommend System Pavers and do not get fooled by companies or people you claim to know how to install pavers. Our project was challenging; our property is above 8,000 feet. This contractor in Tacoma laid a concrete paver patio in our neighbors yard. They cut their pavers against our fence so that all of the silica and concrete dust blew into our garden, over our heat pump A/C equipment, on our windows, siding, plants. His staff did not wear masks or protective eyewear while using a dry cut hand saw in contravention of OSHA and L&I rules. We are very sorry that we chose System Pavers- they are the worst. Our pavers started fading and showing calcium deposits soon after we had them installed- every time someone from SP and even Angelus stones came out they blamed everthing and everybody except themselves- it was our sprinklers, it was the wind, it was the rain, but no, their pavers were not the problem. We were not told beforehand that the sprinklers were going to be a problem, but the fading and discoloration is evident even in the areas where no sprinkler water could or did reach. After almost $30000 worth of paving (we are still paying for it), our driveway looks like it was laid a hundred years ago and our backyard, especially now after all the rain, is covered in white. Their customer service is worse- we have written letters and called and emailed, only to be yelled at or lectured to or ignored- the last encounter on the phone was with a gentleman who said that unless we spent a lot of money in redoing our sprinkler system (putting it underground), they washed their hands of us. We have no problem with the installation crew- they did a great job- our problem is that our very expensive pavers look like s--t. I have seen my neighbors' pavers, some of which were laid before ours, and they look great. I have seen pavers in public areas that were laid ten years before ours, and they look like new, even though they have thousands of people walking on them, and even cars driving on them, and rain and snow falling on them, and wind blowing over them, and kids spilling milkshakes and ice cream and sodas, and cigarette butts and spit and snot. Every solution SP gives us does not include any fault of theirs or their pavers but is going to cost us more money- fix your sprinklers, have the pavers sealed every couple of years. After hearing the ads on the radio and being referred by a co-worker, I decided to go with System Pavers for a project for a brand new backyard. James Navarrette, our initial contact, came in for a design evaluation and helped develop a design that properly utilized the space we had in the backyard. Our guests rave about our backyard and how creative the design is! After that, our Project Manager, Ryan Mainwaring took over and was fantastic to deal with. With a project start date in January, and dealing with the torrential rain we saw in Southern California that month, Ryan was a true pro, keeping us notified of what needed to be done, working around the rain schedule, and maintaining a completion schedule that exceeded our expectations. Key points: Contract signed April 2015 work started phase 1 - 7 Sep 2015 Completion certificate signed 20 Sep 2015 funding approval for phase 2 - 27 March 2016 work started phase 2 - 27 May 2015 Completion certificate signed 20 Sep 2015 Workscope = greater than $70k Discount for substandard work, employee & sub-contractor incompetence and extreme delay after delay less than 2%. I have posted several pictures to this Company's site and this review site, let them tell the story. In the end, the most of the pavers were pulled up to be reworked and turf was completely pulled up not once but 4 times!!!! Plus, over half of the turf had to be completely replaced. After all of the drama and the back and forth, a different crew was brought in to get to the final version it is now. Bottom line. This was the worst contractor experience I have ever had. We signed an agreement and have to use our credit card to pay for the downpayment, the rep went through the agreement except the notice of cancellation. We were supposed to have another meeting to run financial plan. The guy David explained that if we don't get the financial plan they will return the money. Knowing in ourself that we won't be approve of the plan we requested to have the project cancel and not aware of the notice of cancellation. They just want your money how can a company don't return your down payment if they did not do any job!!!! We have to use our credit card and pay them and they don't want to return the money!!!!Shame on you!!!! I agree with the other comments that you are CROOKS!!! Shady salesman. After meeting with Anthony in their beautiful showroom, my husband and I decided that the price was too high. We had some other things we needed to do to our house before we did landscaping. Anthony said we could leave a deposit to hold the price. He even contacted his boss to get a cash discount as we did not want to finance but pay cash when the time was right. He assured us that with a deposit we could hold that price for up to a year and if we didn't end up doing it, we could have our deposit back. After getting quotes for the balcony and some other work that needed to be done first, my husband and I decided that although beautiful, the pavers and plans did not fit in the budget. My husband contacted Anthony to let him know and he then stated that there was a 30 day window to have the deposit returned. We never agreed to that and it does not say that anywhere in the contract. We are currently in the process of filing complaints. Update: After filing complaints and sending a letter to System Pavers, we were contacted by the Vice President of the company. She started the conversation telling us they were refunding our deposit. She was professional and listened to our frustration. We received our check less than a week later. read more

We had our entire backyard remodeled. It looks great!  Estela was the project manager on our home and I can't say enough good things about her and her team.  Ram the foreman and Estela paid close attention to detail and took care of all the changes I asked for without hesitation.  I can not say enough about the hard work the crew did on our back yard. We had 50 year tree roots running through under our old grass. They removed two truck loads of dirt and tree roots to make way for pavers and sod. They have an amazing crew!! Estela would come by to check the work and would fix the tiniest of imperfections.  George was our designer. He helped us visualize on paper what it would look like. Unfortunately we had many changes due to cost. So we cut back many items. There was a long delay in making the changes so we can go forward. We are very happy with the outcome and so glad we finally did it.  We would have liked to see actual product samples of the paving stone. The finish is not what we expected. We were shown catalog pictures, which do not show how it will look in your yard. We love the low wattage lighting, our new pergola with recessed lighting too. They give a warm ambiance. We had a very positive experience with System Pavers. Jon Barlok was our design consultant and he worked very closely with my wife and I ensuring that we were completely happy with the plan to remove and replace our driveway before we got started. We had a few design changes along the way, which never fazed Jon at all. He made sure that our pricing was always updated, and we knew exactly what we were getting into after each design update. Once we agreed upon a project starting date, we met our project manager, John Hallen. John put together a fantastic crew that worked on our driveway. They made quick work of tearing out the old driveway and laying the foundation for the new one. Within a couple of days they were laying a beautiful driveway for us. John made sure that they kept to their word about finishing in the required amount of time, without sacrificing the quality of work that was demanded. He was always available to us, and he even helped out sealing the driveway upon completion! Thanks to both Jon Barlok, and John Hallen, they exceeded our expectations! By the way, we had this work done in late November of 2016. The sealed driveway suffered no damage at all to this winter's heavy rains. Jeff was really knowledgeable, following our ideas and guided us to develop an awesome design we love. Construction was uneventful, which we liked, no drama, just work, and a smooth process. I would recommend them. They were not the cheapest bid, but they were not the most expensive either. I write this review, all of which constitutes my personal opinion with hope it may help someone from having an experience like I had recently with System Pavers in Santa Ana, CA. In February (pre Pandemic). I had an individual who is a design consultant for System Pavers give me an estimate for a driveway. I unfortunately let him convince me to have them do the work. I explained that I wouldn't be able to have the work done until August and I would call him early August to start the work. He seemed to understand that and was very insistent on my giving them a deposit. This was my BIG mistake. I gave him a $1000 deposit with a balance of $6800 after completion of the project. Under NO circumstances give them a deposit!! Over the next month and a half I received numerous calls from more than one person in the office that became more like harassment than anything. I finally started blocking all their calls. After that the design consultant called me and said he would tell them to stop calling. I definitely felt they were enjoying messing with me. Boredom during the pandemic or just jerks, I don't know for sure. Probably both. Extremely unprofessional and annoying. If this hadn't happened I think things would have worked out differently. This was 4 months before I told the design consultant I would contact him. His initials are JB, I'll just call him BS for now. So at last I wasn't being harassed. Early in August I called BS and told him I was ready to go, don't remember if I spoke to him or left a message. He sent someone involved it the installation over about a week later, with no notice of the visit. Finally I met the first person in this entire experience that was professional. Told him I had thought of the colors BS suggested and wanted to check some other options before we start. He then said he would have BS call me. After nearly a week I hadn't heard from BS so I called him and got his voicemail. I left a message and never heard from him. A few days later I got a call from the person in charge of the installation saying they were ready in 2 days to start. . He was surprised that I hadn't heard from BS yet. I told him I needed to speak to him before any installation took place. Finally BS did call and at this point I lost my temper. Later I was called by his boss and I told him I have had it with this and I wanted nothing to do with System Pavers he ask for a 2nd chance. I ask for my deposit back and he refused, saying his boss wouldn't let him (an unnamed mythical character? , I don't know). It was at that point I knew I was through with them. Don't you just love bullies? There are many paving stone installers, please don't do what I did and hire System Pavers. I feel you can do better and find a business, in my opinion, that isn't as ethically challenged as System Pavers turned out to be. At least for me. Beware ! I arranged a quote at the OC fair opening weekend. That experience was kinda weird and not informative at all. The rep was very young and did not have any answers for many of my questions. The Meeting was set for July 15th. The sales rep was yet another very young person who spent 5 min showing us sample book, which contained several completed job. She did some measurements outside and came back inside with a quote $37K for laying down turf and pavers WOW ! I asked her to please break down the cost of the job, piece by piece and all she kept saying was "we have the best warranty in the business" I advised her I had two previous quotes, and they both came in 60% percent less of what she was quoting. She asked to see the quotes so she can compare apples to apples versus the other companies. When I said no. She became very hostile, closed her laptop, gather her sample books and left. The radio ad is misleading. They don't sent an experience sales rep, no before and after photos of what your back yard would look like and they don't explain how the job would get done. I'm glad I got this company out here and I was able to make my decision to hire another contractor. They broke ground Monday and my project should be completed in next few weeks at a much lower price and I even got some free palm tress. :) read more

This review is really just on the sales and service aspect of System Pavers, as I chose not to move forward with contract signing because of my experience. The sales lady was very enthusiastic and friendly initially. She was on time and provided me lots of pictures of sample work they have done previously. I was given a quote, which I told her honestly that I will be meeting with a couple of other vendors to compare. Subsequently, I followed up with her with a promotion that was offered on their website. She agreed to give me the promotion (free demolition), but severely undervalued the discount (in my opinion). She also informed me that there are additional charges to what she had initially quoted me, essentially raising the final number. The most frustrating part is that she couldn't give me a straight answer of how much more those additional charges would be without revisiting my home. I called, emailed and texted her multiple times to set this up, but she never even bothered responding to me. In the end, it felt like she thought I was hung up on the price and it wasn't worth her time to circle back to me. As a potential customer, I did not feel valued and I felt her service was very disappointing. I also contacted the System Pavers office, asking to speak to a manager. But I was told that there is no manager available EVER to speak with me if I just call in, and that the only channel is for a consultant to call me back to discuss. I took my business elsewhere, and I chose it based on the vendor's customer service and quality of work. Even though System Pavers' initial quote was about $2000 less than the company I hired, I felt much more confidence in the service and responses of the latter. My husband and I had our first consultation today with System Pavers and we were truly disappointed. I would've given only one star for this review, but the second star is there bc we actually learned that some of these patio contractors are full of shit, and without today's consultation we wouldn't have realized, so thank you for that. Here's how today's "free" consultation went which started at 9am: 1.) guy shows up to our new home, thinking it's okay to walk inside our home with his shoes on. Where's the courtesy? 2.) we let the guy know what we wanted and our budget, he seemed to understand. 3.) a few hours later, he comes back after doing the measurements and coming up with an idea for the house, and the budget was more than twice our budget. 4.) he then offended us by stating, "maybe it's better off you do concrete all over the house, hah, that'll get you guys to the budget you guys want." 5.) System Pavers wasted 5 hours of our time, this crucial time when we're extremely busy setting up our new home. Disappointed. 6.) p.s. He stated that we can't do all of the things we wanted within our budget, little did he know, we've met with several other patio contractors, and some of them are actually able to do it around our price range 0:) think twice before you say something stupid to your customers, because this experience will be heard within this new, rich Irvine community very quickly 0:) we apologize if we're simply being smart about how we want to spend for our new home 0:) ta ta . read more

When looking around at various paving companies to get quotes, my father-in-law recommended System Pavers because a buddy of his used them to pave his driveway and was happy with the results. We called them up, got a quote, and after a little back and forth got a price that we were happy with. System Pavers seems to have varying reviews amongst people. Some accuse them of farming out their jobs (and this upsets them), while others are perfectly happy with their work. I'm somewhere in-between. The work they did was good and solid. My patio has never looked better. I'm also happy with the price and the attention my job got from their company even though it was probably on the smaller side of things they usually work on. My upset with them, though, comes from their hired labor. Ignoring that nobody on their labor team spoke English, they left a lot of trash just lying around. This wasn't trash that they needed to use nor was it trash they intended to pick up. This was stuff like empty soda cans, paper scraps, plastic, etc, and it was all laying outside my garage. They were too lazy/inconsiderate to clean up after themselves. After having a word with the supervisor(s), the problem never happened again. It's a good thing too, as my HOA wouldn't have reacted too kindly to a big bundle of trash outside my garage tarnishing the neighborhood (that was sarcastic, btw). In short: System Pavers is a good company, does good work, but requires a bit of oversight to ensure everything is done to satisfaction. read more

The issue I had with System Pavers was not the initial workmanship. The problem was with their warranty service. A week after the driveway was installed, one guy, who seemed in a hurry came out to seal it. The sealer was not properly applied; it may have been watered down. Consequently, sand began disappearing from between the pavers, especially after a rain. I had to call six different times for warranty service before I even got a response. After waiting weeks, the same guy came out with a small ketchup sized bottle of sealer, for what he called, "touch-up". He didn't want to reseal the whole driveway because a second coat would be "counter productive". After doing some basic research, I later found out what he told me isn't the case at all. The problem with the disappearing sand between the pavers continued. Since System Pavers flatly refused to fix the the sealer issue, I decided I would re-seal the driveway myself. I called System Pavers again to ask what product they used to seal it so I could purchase the same sealer from a builders' supply. The lady told me she would have "engineering" call me with that information. It's been days, and I still haven't gotten a return call. Interestingly, System Pavers has a referral policy that sounds fantastic. If one of their clients refers them for a job, they will send that client a $500 referral fee. Some people, who haven't experienced calling System Pavers for warranty service, may refer them to receive the reward. However, I have later run into other people, who went with other paver contractors, for their driveways and told me they paid almost half of what we paid. Someone's paying for that $500 referral fee, think about it! So here's my advice: even though they claim their work has a 25 year warranty, they fail to mention that they will follow-up on service, sometime around when Hell freezes over, and then good luck getting any results. If you want a great driveway at a great price, AND great warranty service, do yourself a favor and look for another contractor. read more

My house is new and in a new housing development, so you can guess I had a lot of knocks on door and door hangers from a variety of landscape companies as well as ability to see the work on some of the neighbors yards. I was dreading this process as I had a terrible experience with contractors in the house I sold. For this house, I did get a design and quote from a contractor that I thought I would use. But, after I asked for some changes to the design and a quote for that, she never ever came back. So! While waiting for her quote, a System Pavers representative came to the door and I agreed to an appointment. Randy, the sales person was so informative and helpful, much better than my past experiences. He came up with a design that I just loved. John Hallen was my project manager. I was amazed at how frequently he was here on site checking on the work in progress. My past experience was with the crew taking photos and sending to the manager. John hand picked his crew and with his frequent on site visits kept the work moving. As for scheduling, the project was to take two weeks, but the rain delayed completion. John kept me informed of when his crew would work and they always showed up on time. The crew actually worked the entire time they were here. I wouldn't refer System Pavers to my worst enemy...they installed a planter box and sprinkler system for us, which leaked right from day one....it has been an absolute nightmare and they told us we were on our own regarding the leak.....we are now in the process of trying to find an irrigation company to repair this leak.....the whole experience has been a nightmare.... read more

EDIT: Just wanted to include that I did respond to System Pavers reply on here, forwarded them my saved e-mails just so they know I didn't make any of this up, the person said they were forwarding them to upper management, that's the last I heard. After I purchased my home I got a quote from System Pavers for a front walkway. The guy tells me a standard walkway is 4 feet wide. I told him don't you think that would look ridiculous being that my house is so tiny, he claimed it was the standard, I didn't end up getting the work done, but kept them in mind. Recently I was looking to get the back done so I had SP come out. They start out w/an outrageous price then say "I'll give you a 15% discount for scheduling it today, I can't give this discount say 1 week from now, it's TODAY ONLY". He starts off at $8K for 396 square feet + 1 drain. He comes down to $6,550 and we've got a deal because I want It done before the rain hits, + I have a coupon: NO PAYMENTS UNTIL SUMMER 2014. I inquire about a permit for the drain he says it's included. The papers are signed, job scheduled, everything is good.... Then I start thinking they could shorten the patio 2 feet and give me a walkway in the front, the square footage would remain EXACTLY the same, so I send the guy an email, I also inquire about permits since I had the time to read the FINE PRINT: "purchaser will obtain and pay for all permits", I get a reply he says permits are not required for my city, BUT I've already contacted the city so I know he's not being truthful. I tell him this and get no response, I wait a day & say I have 3 days to cancel this order, I need to know if it's included, his reply "it's included. Trust me we wouldn't be in business 20 years nation wide company if we didn't do what we say".... So he comes out to do a change order for the front walkway and says it's an additional $198 for demo (BUT WAIT ACCORDING TO MY CONTRACT DEMO IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE). I inquire again about the permit and he says if anything the permit is what $25, I said no it's $175, then he says we can do a different kind of drain that does not require a permit (BUT ORIGINALLY HE TOLD ME A POP OUT DRAIN WOULD NOT WORK FOR ME). Then he starts telling me well it's up to the contract manager really & you can bring this up to them.... They also start trying to give me the run around & I let them know I'm not having it, if the permit is not included they need to say so, not lie about it. This person is a bit more truthful than the sales guy.... The work gets done, and on a scale of 1 - 5, I'd give it a 3.5, the drain works, but the way they have the pavers a lot of water is flowing the opposite way of the drain which is not what I wanted, theres a lot of sand even now months after the pavers have been installed. The walkway is crooked, I told the workers about this when I noticed it but they already had it cemented, so they corrected it the best they could, BUT it's still crooked, oh and the kicker they started billing me the following month, the guy did not write on my paperwork the coupon I had for NO PAYMENTS UNTIL SUMMER 2014, oh and I have a big pile of pavers stacked in my backyard that was leftover from the job... The sales guy claimed the cost of the drain was $800, so they charged me $6,550 + $198 = $6,748 - $800.....So the cost of the pavers was approx $15 per square foot.
