I visited Szechuan Chinese Restaurant for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the fast service, and tasty food. I ordered their Szechuan Shrimp lunch serving and was happy with a huge portion. I asked for it to be spicy and while I can tolerate more spice than the normal person it was well spiced. The vegetables were fork tender and the shrimp were not overcooked. Have not been there in a long time, but the fried rice was very good. I will be going back again.

I like this restaurant and the owners. Covid was a hard time for them but they made it through. It is a small family owned place but it's a place that brings me comfort and reliability. And the foods I like. They have been very consistent and very good quality and quantity. read more

Today I tried to place an order. hung up on. talked to 4 different people.. finally placed order used my credit card, at firswt they said tey don's take cards over the phone, well happened in the last month when they did? when the person picking up the order was told they couldn't find the recepit and charged him again.. tried to get a call back, so I called again and was told they really didn't charge my card. This place used to be a good restaurant. Now there are flickering lights outside, made it look dodgy. I was greeted by a sign on the door that said take out only. I thought it was weird but I drove across town to get their food so I went in. There was a crowded room full of people playing video poker, but nobody was allowed to order food to eat there. How strange. The person that took my order was very insistent that i had to stand in a certain spot and take a paper menu. I had to wait in my car for my order to be ready. Since moving to Veneta, there has been limited options on Grub Hub. I was excited to know that they even had the option available, since I was used to it in Eugene. All of this being said, one day not long ago I had a hinkering for Chinese food. This was the only place Grub Hub offered to Veneta. Not that looks have ever detoured me from places, but this place just reminded me of some where not to go. After I realized where it was from o was really hoping the food was going to be okay. The delivery was on time, and food was hot. So that was not an issue. I had the pot stickers, I would not recommend them at all! The meat just didn't taste right. Next was general tsao's. One of my favorites usually. I took one bite, and about spit it out! I took another bite from another piece thinking it must have been just that one bad piece. Nope! It was just that bad, and salty. I have never had it be that salty before. Kung pao chicken...what kung pao chicken? It was mainly vegetables, and that was basically huge chunks of celery! Oh I might have gotten one bite of chicken. It was so microscopic! Just made me upset knowing the price that was paid for the entire meal! The only thing I can say that made this meal salvageable was the pork fried rice, the bbq pork, and the mar far chicken which also was hard to consume because the sweet, and sour sauce was a disgusting gelatinous mess! This is a solid choice for Chinese American cuisine. i've ordered it a couple times for take out. It's in line with other Chinese American restaurants around town although I would say their prices are a little more affordable which is nice. It's been at it location for as long as I can remember. I've been frequenting this establishment for a almost 4 years now. I can say they are the most consultant and best in the Eugene when it comes to Chinese-American cuisine. All the flavors are there. I have a few go to items that I order while trying a few other options each time I visit. My standard go to item is the general tso tofu, which is tempura breaded and deep friend then tossed in general tso sauce. It's deceiving my good and personally think it taste better then the chicken. Vegetarian low mien is another essential, noodles are always perfectly cooked without being to oiled up, unlike other places ( talking to you Kowloons). I'm also partial to there sweet and sour pork, spring rolls and egg drop soup. I will say the location and building seem a bit rough around the edges, but worth the venture. Also there is some interesting people that hang out in the vicinity which, can be a real bummer when eating. read more

I have passed this place my whole life and never stopped. Today my wife stopped and got take out for lunch. She ordered the veggie lo mein for me and the sweet and sour tofu with pan fried noodles for her. What a surprise!! The lo mein was mostly noodles which is what I wanted but had a good amount of celery, carrot and bean sprouts. Super flavorful, perfectly cooked veggies and not at all greasy. The tofu was crispy fried in a fantastic sweet and sour sauce with lots of onions, carrot and green bell pepper. All perfectly cooked and very fresh. The service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. We were both skeptical but so happy at what a delicious surprise this was! We will be back lots of times. read more

I am a retired elementary principal and I've pent half my life in cafeterias, restaurants, fast food places, and because of the many Chinese friends I have, a lot of Chinese restaurants.I walked in there for the first time about a month and a half ago and I've been back four times since then and once with a friend. The food is always good and tasty and hot. The restaurant and cooking area appears clean and well taken care of. So, I have been desperate to find a good Chinese food delivery here in Eugene and the struggle is real. Szechuan was such a disappointment, the food was so stale and literally tasted like it had been cooked hours if not days before. The fried wontons were so stale and chewy I could barely gnaw them down. The lo mien was flavorless, the pork super dry, annnnnnd the sweet and sour chicken was a joke. The chicken looked great on the outside, but once you took a bite the chicken inside the breading was burnt, dry, and almost nonexistent. The only thing I kind of liked was the Szechuan Beef. I think I was so disappointed cause I really wanted to like this place and I could tell the flavors weren't horrible, however after I was halfway through my plate trying to convince myself that the food was good I had to just accept that it was garbage. Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. The chicken was nice a crispy, and served dry with the Sweet and Sour Sauce on the side. This was nice because it didn't get soggy. The Chicken Fried Rice was what you'd expect, fine but not anything special. I don't recommend the Chow mien (as other people had said in other reviews). I don't know what they put in it, but it won't remind you of any chow mien you've ever had before. There's a gross picture of it. read more

My son and I came here to eat the same week it reopened under the new name/owner. I had never ate at the former restaurant. We were the only two paying customers in the joint. There was another person there, I can only assume it was a contractor, as he and the waiter kept talking about the building and going over paperwork. I was comfortable in the freshly painted and clean dining room. I love the serene green and panda bears. No sad Panda there! It was cold there, but i'm usually cold wherever I go. I had the mushroom chicken dinner. It was like no other mushroom chicken i'd had to date. It was over salted, excessively liquid, and so hot I couldn't dig in right away. My stomach started gurgling after the first bite and I couldn't get home quick enough for the sweet relief of the bathroom. This is one of our favorite Chinese places to eat dinner. It's always great service, fresh food and they have some THE BEST crab puffs on this side of the Willamette! Lol We love that they have the dinner combo options. You get your choice of any 2 or 4 items for a 'set price', and It's all very reasonably priced. You can get enough food to feed a family of 2-4 people for under $20! We usually get the choose any 4 and we get -Mar Far Chicken -Pork Low Mein -crab puffs -Pork Fried Rice And usually we get a egg roll to share because the egg rolls are HUGE! For example, the mushroom chicken was really tasty, but the sweet and sour chicken sauce was all sweet and no sour and the szechuan chicken had three pieces of chicken and all the rest was veggies. The egg rolls are criticized and they are very different from traditional ones, however in the american market i can see where they were going with them. i ate half of one. One star was is more then they deserve. The chow main was greasy and only noodles with a few pieces of fatty beef. Egg rolls greasy the bag they came I was soaked in grease. I was told it would be 45 minutes. My girlfriend had to take our daughter out for pizza they took so long. We ordered Szechuan beef, it had 3 pieces of meat in it. For $10.25 that is a load of nonsense. Same with all the dishes we ordered, all veggies no meat. The BBQ pork is tasteless, the food was just gross. We threw most of it out, I wouldn't feed it to my Dog. I have no idea how this place can stay in business. I will avoid this place for the rest of my days and do a dance when they go out of business. Legend of Szechuan was too busy to take our order so we tried this Chinese restaurant instead. I literally made a yelp account so I could warn others away from this place. I am not trying to be malicious, but I had to let people know about our poor experience. Not only did we pay over fifty dollars for our takeout with VERY LITTLE MEAT, but everyone who ate there also got food poisoning. My boyfriend's beef entree only had three pieces of dried up meat, my shrimp entree had minimal shrimp and was suspended in a strange gooey liquid.
