T-Bone Toms has a interesting feel to it. When walking in it's a bit confusing. You have you choice of eating inside of what use to be a meat market. Yes they sold meat, and still do. Most of the cuts of meat they use in the rest. Is displayed in a meat case and can be purchased to take home. The decor' inside is a bit nostalgic and a bit diner-ish. Visitors also have the choice of sitting outside which has a little bit more charm to it. While visiting we discovered that T-bone Tom's was featured on diners drive-ins and dives. The menu items that were featured on the show are marked on the menu. We thought the food was good, Gary loved their in-house sausage. And I enjoyed the personal grill to grill my own steak at the table. T-bone Tom's is someplace we would recommend if you are visiting Kemah Texas. While you were there be sure to ask them about the flood waters, Both managers are very friendly and don't hesitate to take the time to share the fun things about T-bone Tom's. read more

I am visiting the Houston area with a friend who took me to Kemah, a great little town by the water. We were searching for super casual outdoor dining with great food and she suggested T-Bones. They also had live music every night which was a big plus as i hadn't been around any live music for a while. It was a 3 piece band and the woman performer was great on flute and sax. They played a lot of old rock. Our server was very friendly and the atmosphere was fun. We were seated away from the other tables as requested. There were some large parties. I ordered the Wednesday special, two grilled pork chops w 2 sides foe $12.95. They had some great homemade sides to choose from. I got the potato salad and fried okra. The meal was delicious and i took home half. I forgot to mention the appetizer we ordered called armadillo eggs 4 for $9.99 - large Jalapeño peppers stuffed with BBQ brisket and fried in a crispy batter. The armadillo eggs were featured in Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and were a big hit! The wait staff had masks and masks were required. Parking was free and easy and the prices were low to moderate. After waiting for 30 minutes , called the lady and she said, it's going to be another 20 minutes in a very rude manner! OK food, lost opportunity. I think most area visitors would do better trying some place with local seafood. I had the Monday lunch special of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans yesterday. The green beans and the gravy were the highlights as the chicken fried steak was just an OK breaded cheap piece of meat and the mashed potatoes could be from powder as they were thin in consistency. For the price ($8?) it was pretty good and filling. I went because of the yelp reviews but as I was passing through I really regret not going somewhere else. One of the reviews mentioned seafood and I saw pictures of crawfish somewhere, but only a few items like fried catfish were on the menu. Service was OK.. Came here at the request of a colleague who wanted a steak, but wanted to be near the boardwalk in Keemah. T Bones was recommend by the Hilton as a good steak place, not high end, but good steaks. We had 5 of us and it was a bit crowded at the table but all good. Got seated quick and got some tea and some had a cocktail. The waitress was a bit strung out but on the ball and very much like a diner server but nice and sweet . We all had steaks and just limited it to 2 marinated ribeye, 2 T bones and one filet. All were cooked perfect, we all do MR and they were quite good. Sure- I could say I cook better steaks for less at home but who can't! You go for the atmosphere and food. Atmosphere was a bit loud for a week night and very casual so we were able to sit back and and enjoy the meal. The marinated steaks were a bit over cooked but tender and juicy so the guys were fine. I had a 16oz Tbone which was a good MR, a fair amount of fat around the edges but good taste. Tons of food all around, large glasses of Tea and cocktails were served in plastic cups ( not best for me but ok here). This is a touristy place, HUGE when you go to the back, live band, more tables out side ( but it was hot so we sat up front) and near the water. ( marina). Will certainly come back when someone wants a steak but as a seafood guy I tend to hit Crazy Alans or Landry's if you want more seafood. Good choice, a lot of fun. I've begun to travel for work now in these uncertain times and given Texas had me a bit nervous about their position on re-opening early in the face of an uptick in COVID cases in this state, this restaurant hit it out of the park in terms of managing their approach to serving customers. Every server, bartender and manager had masks and gloves on. They separated the tables by at least 6 ft (if not more), utilized wrapped utensils, one-time menus and had personnel present with spray bottles and washcloths cleaning tables all around me. In addition to all that preparation was the "all-in" attitude of the staff in this approach to safety. They truly seemed "on board" with their company's position on this issue. Lastly, the food was great. I asked if I could substitute fried oysters for the shrimp normally served with the Surf and Turf dinner. They explained they could do that for a few bucks more and I appreciated the flexibility. I'm picky when it comes to fried oysters and they were superb as was the steak. Great job to the entire staff for making me feel like you were doing everything in your power to keep your customers safe and that you cared. Absolutely one of the best ribeyes EVER! 14oz Ribeye is 26.99 and the marinated 14oz Ribeye is 27.99; the main difference is that the marinated is a little more salty and the regular ribeye is a little more buttery flavored. The steaks and a lot of the other entree options come with a side + dinner salad or 2 sides The green beans are a must if you like veggies, they're cooked in a little bacon and onions and still bright green and super fresh, and not greasy!! I also like the grilled tomatoes and the sautéed spinach, but both of those are just typical healthy options. I tried the potato salad this time.. personally not my favorite. For appetizers, the shark eggs and armadillo eggs are really good and super unique, the boudain balls were tasty but not enough spices heat for me. My family came here for some drinks and apps. We stayed long enough to have 2 servers. Our first was Gary, he always served us with a smile and was so nice and personable. He ended up staying past his shift but he never made us feel rushed. We asked him to close our check and we received a new server, Jacob. Stopped by for an early dinner with finance. Our waiter Eric was amazing. Checked on us often and if we needed anything it was brought to us ASAP no long wait no I am sorry I got busy and forgot. The armadillo eggs aren't as bad as people make them out to be... though for some reason it seems we got pulled pork rather than brisket... Whatever, it still tasted pretty decent. I ordered the three-meat platter: brisket, ribs, and pulled pork, with a side of pinto beans and salad. Salad is salad. Pinto beans however, gave a slightly toxic odor.. based off of the liquid it was in I believe? I compare my pinto beans with the ones at chipotle, which don't smell like anything, and I mean, pinto beans should just taste like pinto beans right? True, but the ones here smelled rather off-putting. Main star of the three-meat plate is the meat though right? Well. Pulled pork wasn't bad. They give you bbq sauce on the side to put in as much as you want. On a moist scale of 1-10 it was a 5, on the tenderness scale, it was a 7. This just means that they left it out for a bit and had all the moisture taken away by its surroundings, but it was still originally cooked alright. Now, the brisket... was absolutely garbage. That moistness scale? 1. Not a 0, but a 1. A 0 would be cardboard level, but I mean I was still able to bite into it without it making a *snap* sound. Problem was, it LOOKED like it was cooked right but it tasted like it was left out for a while. At this point I was too full to eat the ribs, so i decided to take it home. Before that however, I cut them into pieces for easy microwaving later on. Microwaving the ribs was a fantastic decision, because the moist scale was probably at an 8 or 9 , and it fell apart and looked completely different from when I cut it in the restaurant. The platter portioning was pretty fair btw, for $15. Forgot how much the armadillo eggs were but they were slightly filling too. So what to take home from this? If you're ordering the meat platter, don't eat it. Take it home and microwave it back up because you're gonna be eating dry animal muscle at the restaurant ;} read more

Some of the best I've had in a long time. I had the fried oyster basket. I was really disappointed in the oysters. They were VERY bland. No taste at all in the batter. Needed seasoning and at minimum some salt. One of my sons tried my oysters and said the same thing. We both had a bad taste from the oysters in our mouth for several hours. I have been coming to Tbone Tom's for a couple year. Tonight was chicken wings. omg they are great! Anyway ...boyfriend and I ordered some wings and coleslaw. I have a condition that I can't eat much with out an acid reflux reaction, even with my meds. Thats why i eventually took the wings home. Niki? the manager, did not reach out to me to understand, what the issue is / was. She did however, have words with our server. Hello?! I looked and did not notice that wings were not allowed to be taken to go. I am sorry if I missed it, next time I will ask where it is written. Communication is important between management, servers and the customers. We spend $800-$1000 a month at your restaurant and I'm not happy that I was not approached and our waitress was chastised. Been coming here for years and realized I had never reviewed them. I absolutely love this place. They consistently have some of the best food in the area. Whether you want steak, seafood, southern comfort, or BBQ Tom's will have something for you. They have daily and nightly specials which are always priced at a nice value. I think my favorite thing on the menu is the Trike sandwich. It comes with smoked brisket, pulled pork, and smoked sausage all one big buttered hamburger bun. You also get a side or pickles and grilled onions and jalapenos with it and a cup of their homemade bbq sauce. This is one hefty sandwich and it is full of flavor. You can taste the smoke and seasoning in all three of the meats. I could eat that thing once a week and never get tired of it. My wife is a big fan of the beef tips and noodles. Be sure to come on Tuesday for those when they are on the lunch special. The chicken fried steak is so tender and their sides are also all really wonderful. Btw they do a good job of spreading people out during Covid so if you are concerned about distancing they have people spaced pretty well throughout the dining area. read more
