While I know this is an unpopular opinion, I wasn't a super huge fan of this place, but this comes from someone who's been going to a local spot for 10+ years that has very similar items, plus more. I think for the cost, it's affordable and worth trying if you've never had this kind of food before. They had the addition of the live octopus and various seafood and side dishes that my local spot didn't have with the course menu, but I think there weren't as many options that I would usually get. AYCE raw crab in Koreatown! They have free parking which is rare for KTown. The crab and shrimps are unlimited but one bowl of rice is free. So if you need more rice, it's added to the bill. The crabs are not as large as those you get in the a la carte menu from other restaurants but who cares because it's AYCE. The price is pretty reasonable for what you get. The name T=Fish is pretty interesting and that's what initially drew my attention. Trying live octopus has been on my bucket list for years, and this place seemed like the perfect spot. I remember reading a review complaining about the service...we didn't have that experience at all. If the servers are busy, just ring the doorbell at your table and they'll come on by. I never leave 1-star reviews, but T Equals Fish truly let me down. I was so excited to visit this restaurant after seeing it online so much. I had it bookmarked for so long, and when I planned my trip to LA, I made sure to fit it into my itinerary. Upon entry, they make you order outside before stepping foot inside. I ordered the 2 person medium combo 3 as well as an additional plate of raw soy marinated crab. I told them I was allergic to the raw shrimp included in the combo, but they said no substitution could be made. When we were ordering in front of the employee, my friend and I talked about how it seemed like a lot of food, but it would be okay because we could take it home. We were then seated in a dimly lit side room in lieu of the empty main area. When the food came out, it was beautiful and looked promising. The presentation of the dishes was great, but the taste was incredibly disappointing. There were several banchans that were super oily, lacked flavor, and seemed like they had been sitting out. The platter that came with the uni, abalone, etc. tasted entirely like tank water and several pieces were partially frozen and impossible to chew. I normally love raw seafood, especially uni, but there was not a single piece on the platter that I had a second piece of. The soy marinated crab, a dish I have had multiple times and they offer as AYCE as well, tasted straight up spoiled. It was incredibly bitter and fishy. I honestly thought, after one bite, that I was definitely going to get food poisoning. The only thing that was edible here (but still subpar) was the sashimi, and even so, I found a bone in a piece of the salmon. We ended up leaving 80% of the food (including crab, uni, abalone, etc.!) that we paid $230 for as a group of 2 people. I hate wasting food, but we both could not stomach anymore. As we were about to leave, we had to ask the waiter for the check 3 times before he brought it out with a soup we also waited 20-30min for. Even when the soup came, it was super bland. We also noticed a small sign (literally a sliver of paper) next to our table that said "leftover raw seafood is not available for takeout" and were super confused because the employee at the counter didn't say anything when we clearly discussed in front of her that we could take the leftovers with us. I understand the reason for the policy and wasn't planning to take the food anyways, but I wish she would have told us when we were discussing/ordering. For the price we paid, this experience was ridiculous and the food was inedible. Another note is that the parking lot is extremely packed. Very narrow spaces and hard to find a spot. Went here because of the TikTok hype! I have been wanting to try Korean white fish, and to be honest, it didn't disappoint. The downside was when we were there, I think they were understaffed, so there was a long wait just to order or to wait for our food. The combo comes with a lot of sides, but again, it's pretty annoying to keep reminding our waiter that we were still missing food every 10 minutes. The bell on the table didn't help at all. They didn't specify what kind of shellfish or clams come with. I'm not talking about abalone, halibut, flounder, rockfish, or even live octopus that comes with the combo, but there is a couple of shellfish that are very unique and you don't even see them often in Asian groceries. Came back here just 10 days after my last visit because I wanted to bring my boyfriend to try it out. In the span of 10 days, the service and quality has definitely went down. We came before opening on Sunday (they open at 5pm and we arrive around 4:40). We had to put our name down and note that we were here for ayce. As time grew closer to 5pm, more people started queuing as well. It wasn't an overwhelming amount of parties maybe 3-4 parties of 2-4 people. I want to preface by saying this place is huge. There's a lot of seatings and even private rooms. At around 5, we thought they would start letting people in. Instead, the employees (maybe owners) started letting in their friends first leaving the other parties who have been here waiting for opening to wait another 20 minutes outside in the cold with no seating area. They also blocked off the door with a chair that had a long list of terms and conditions you have to read and agree to before they even let you through the doors. Last time I came, there were no notices of rice being limited and the side dishes being limited. Now, you are not allowed to order any extra side dishes and an extra bowl of rice will run you $2. Additionally, last time I was here they gave us each a bowl of rice as well as added rice to the crab shells for us so we didn't see a need to order more rice. This time, they stopped adding extra rice and the saltiness of the soy kind of requires you to eat it with something plain. We had to ration our tiny bowls of rice. In my first review, I said that the crabs were pretty small but it was okay because you have an hour to order multiple rounds. This time around, the crabs were not only smaller (idk how that's possible) but most of the crab pieces had no meat. I didn't think much of it because it's an AYCE so I can always just order more. However, after your first round, the bell renders itself useless. It'll take multiple rings and many minutes before a server will come around to take your next order and it's just burning the hour that you're permitted. The crab pieces that did have meat were still decent and so were the side dishes and fish cake soup. Given the latest experience I had here with the employees prioritizing getting their friends seated first and not answering any questions about why regular customers weren't being seated 20 minutes after opening, I probably won't be back. I feel like t equals fish started establishing petty charges and doing what it takes to save money wherever they can that it has completely thrown them off good customer service. Side note: no raw items are allowed to be brought home but if you do order something that you can take to go, the to go boxes will be a dollar each. Crazy. When we went together the service was great, and the rice was included in the price for ayce. Our waitress was nice and even gave us wet wipes cause she saw the mess we made. Service was quick and attentive, probably cause it was only us and another table of two girls there. The restaurant was very cute, playing Korean music and had hanging fairy lights. Compared to crab house, t equals fish's crabs have less meat than crab house's Korean crab but more eggs/roe and crab butter and it's all you can eat for the same price! They also give a lot of banchan with your meal and one rice bowl per person, however I didn't eat much of the banchan. Their shrimp and crab tastes fresh and I love the amount of crab roe, it tastes so good with rice. This our second time here at T=fish, loved the food first time and we decided to come back today. The food is amazing, we didn't get the AYCE CRABS but rather the combo 3 with Korean Halibut and raw dishes, I believe the portion has been sizing down since they didn't have the rice bowl sea urchin, the fish soup was in a smaller portion. Funny part: When we finished paying, the server ( a guy in his 20s) chased us out of the door and asked " where's the tip?" Like excuse me ? I thought it was weird so I put down $2 because we didn't get the service we wanted. He saw the $2 and continued asked me why? What happened? I said the food portions wasn't the same and he has the audacity to tell me " but the tips r based on service". Unfortunately, upon arriving at the restaurant I was immediately disappointed with the customer service. Two friends arrived before me and weren't allowed to wait inside or be seated until the entire group arrived. That's understandable but maybe designate an actual waiting area that isn't the parking lot if that's the policy. Once we were seated we had to call our waiter back to the table several times because he did a terrible job of explaining their AYCE option. He actually acted annoyed we had questions but TBH the menu is not self-explanatory and there's a bit of a language/grammar disconnect on their menu which contributed to our questions. Overall, the crab was delicious but the service was awful. We had to ask for extra napkins multiple times and when we finally received napkins we received exactly three napkins for four people from the waiter. A different waitress brought us additional napkins later after we asked for more (plus wet wipes) but we seriously asked for napkins four times before we got enough for everyone. I don't think it's a big ask at a place where you're eating raw marinated crab with your hands to want more napkins. This is on top of us grabbing a couple napkins from a neighboring table because of how stingy they were. I heard someone said it takes 20 minutes to receive the crab if you order more but that's not true. We went in on a Sunday at 7:55pm and we were worried that they'd cut us off immediately at 8:30 (leaving us only a little over 30 minutes to eat) but the servers were so sweet and continued to give us food 15 minutes past the cut off time for AYCE. I saw some complaints about servers being mean or slow to give us food, but I didn't experience any of that! Our servers even gave us bigger portions towards the end so we wouldn't ask for more XD. In regards to the food: banchan- 1/10 (no kimchi at all!) soy marinated crab- 8/10 ; head is the best part, so buttery! spicy marinated crab- 7/10; good kick but kinda grainy soy marinated shrimp- 10/10 Rice is $2 refill but I only needed one bowl to keep me full. My first visit to T Equals Fish & Sushi Roll was nothing short of spectacular! We were a group of three ladies and one gentleman, and because we were unsure about the portion sizes, we decided to go with the three-person L set meal, which included Korean Rockfish, Flounder, Halibut sashimi, and a seafood platter. Thank goodness we didn't opt for the four-person set, because the three-person set turned out to be an absolute feast! It came with a delightful array of side dishes that left us pleasantly surprised. From the moment we started with the appetizers, to our own individual salads, tofu, steamed egg, tempura, grilled fish, and even a comforting bowl of miso soup, it was an abundance of flavors and textures that filled us to the brim. The quality of the seafood was outstanding. Each piece of sashimi was incredibly fresh and bursting with natural sweetness. The Korean Rockfish had a unique and satisfying texture, while the Flounder and Halibut sashimi were pure bliss. Finally got to try this place and I'm very glad I did. Make sure to come very hungry because when you think there's no more food, there's more! We came on a Saturday at 2pm and were seated right away. Order: We ordered the Assorted Sashimi + Seafood for 2: Assorted sashimi - 5/5 I wasn't able to get the names of all of the fish, but overall quality was very fresh. Most cuts were very fatty & melt in your mouth, but my favorite was the halibut and salmon. There's a bottle of chogochujang on the table which is really good with the white fish sashimi. Seafood platter - 3/5 Honestly just wanted this for the live octopus experience, which I enjoyed. Nothing else stood out to me, the uni was below average. Everything else was okay, and I sadly did not enjoy the sea squirt. Side dishes - 4/5 There were side dishes on side dishes. My favorite ones were the tteokkochi, corn, salad, & fried tempura. It's really easy to get full off of the sides, but you're able to to-go them for $1 per to-go box. Interior - Very big shop with a lot of tables, can be accommodating for bigger parties. Kpop playing & lots of fairy lights throughout. Overall - I would be back for the sashimi & sides, but other than that this was more of a one time experience for me! I've always wanted to try this place so I came here with my husband and ordered the M combo. Honestly we were sooo surprised by the amount of food that kept coming out. It felt like never ending side dishes. In terms of the actual entree, I was disappointed beacse they ran out of the live octopus and that was what I was most excited to try. The other seafood like the abalone and sea squirt were very slimy and I realize I wasn't a fan of it. The uni was probably my favorite from that platter. The sashimi platter was okay. The fish was fresh but I wasnt a huge fan of some of the white fish sashimi. They also charge for take out containers and you cant take any of the raw seafood so we ended up taking some of the stew home! read more

I've been on the look out for some fresh sashimi, and this place nailed it! I took my boyfriend out to celebrate his birthday since he loves seafood and used to work at a sushi restaurant. We ordered the seafood/sashimi set for 2 and there was SO MUCH FOOD. The sashimi was fresh, no pieces tasted fishy and the cuts were huge. My boyfriend also heavily approved of the fish quality. We loved all the banchan that came with the main course as well. The soup at the end was a nice surprise, but we were so stuffed we could barely touch it. I thought the price for everything we got was well worth it and we are excited to come back. Service was fast for a Saturday night, but they also take reservations over the phone. This review is for the AYCE raw marinated crab. Service: F Food: B+ Value: A Service - Servers make you hella wait between crabs, but understandable as they need to make money. I'm sure they could speed it up if they wanted to since these are usually marinated overnight. Servers act like they don't understand you if you ask for more food but the food will come. I bet management told them to wait N minutes between serving new crabs. Went on a Friday night and had no wait. Food - Decent. I went in with low expectations which I think is the trick with this and any AYCE spots with mass produced food. Was put off by the other recent reviews but didn't smell or taste different than other gejang. Maybe others aren't used to raw seafood? Soy sauce crab was a bit more than mildly salty but not unbearably salty. Value - Great variety of banchan. Left feeling full. Server came by one more time at the end and asked if I wanted another round (had been here for an hour 30 min at this point). I laughed and said "no thanks".
