This was posted by a friend on Factbook...... Sooooo, I have to share my experience tonight @ TP Crockmiers. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I made a reservation 3 weeks ago for a party of 18. No problem. Called yesterday to confirm the reservation. No problem. Arrive to the restaurant at the reservation time to a table with 10 chairs. I asked where the other people were supposed to sit. Oh. Some over at this table. Some over at another table. (This reservation was for a group of kids). I asked if we could move one of the tables up so all the kids could sit together. The lady helping us went over to a man (sitting at a table drinking with 2 other guys). She said "we can't move the table". I asked why they didn't tell me when I reserved that they couldn't seat the party together. At this point the man who has been drinking at the table starts yelling at me. "This is my restaurant. If you want to do what you want you go to your restaurant. But this is my restaurant and I'm not moving tables..." He continued to yell and cuss, called me a bitch and asked if I "wanted to go?" (Like he was going to fight me). All of this in front of 14 kids!!! The hostess tried to get him under control and kept saying "Bill. Bill. Bill" to try to get his attention to no avail. She walked by me and shook her head apologetically. He said "so you can stay or you can go" so I told the kids to get up and leave. As we are walking out he yells to the people on the sidewalk "when you deal with bitches this is how you have to treat them!!" Y'all!!! I have NEVER been rendered speechless. But that is exactly what happened tonight. I cannot imagine an owner acting like that in ANY business. If I had not experienced/witnessed it, I would not have believed it- it was that incredibly crazy!! I get it he has so much money he doesn't need ours, but I hope I'm never that "rich". On a positive note, Heroes (Downtown) Sports Bar & Grille saved the day! They quickly accommodated our group and provided great service for the kids to continue on with their night. Needless to say- we will NEVER step foot back in TP Crockmiers. read more

Our son in law had our daughters surprise bday here so we drove in from Tampa to join in the festivities. As soon as i walked in the girls at the front welcomed me with warm smiles. Gave the reservation name and they guided me back to a side room they had specifically for us. I asked about the cake and flowers that we're dropped off prior that afternoon and they already had them sitting on the table for us. My husband and I arrived before everyone to make sure everything was in place..... they did an excellent job taking care of that for us. They also introduced me to the gentleman who was going to be taking care of us. Can't remember his name but he was very kind. He did mess up a couple orders at the table, he corrected one and the other person just didn't say anything and ate what he was given anyway. I ordered the shrimp Oliver (pasta with shrimp pretty much) - no bueno. It was very fishy and even smelled fishy. So my salad became my meal. The gentleman did offer to bring me something else but i wasn't really wanting to give anything else a try considering my husband got the wings and onion rings and he didn't like either of them. He kinda picked over his plate. Our server did remove the pasta from our bill and brought me Tito's & soda on the house so he did make up for food without even asking him to which is great customer service! Had to go to the restroom and I was very surprised to see it's just one restroom per gender. With an establishment of that size I would've thought there'd be a few per gender. So I had a small family knocking on the door and waiting for me to finish. The place is beautiful.... all the wood is just gorgeous. The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because of the quality of the food. How everything was handled was perfection though. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants located in the downtown area. They have a little something for everyone. From salads to burgers, you can find something for even the pickiest eaters. The building and staff are charming. I would highly recommend the Club Sandwich or the Monte Cristo Sandwich. read more

I had my wedding upstairs at TP's and it was fantastic!!!!! So many of my guests made it a point to tell me how much they loved everything! I haven't been here in a couple of years. Used to go every Sunday for brunch. Stopped in and was very pleasantly surprised to find its bigger, and I think even better. I usually get eggs Benedict, but got the eggs Florentine this time. Very, very yummy. The Bloody Mary was super and the service from the bartender, Sofia, was above average and worth mentioning. Visited on 9/4 for lunch. Was not to busy. They seemed to be short staffed and that is to be expected with covid still around. Service was lacking due to this. I had the chicken fried sandwich with fries. It was ok, nothing earth shattering. TP has been around for years. It is a Mobile staple. Will definitely go back, however I will wait until things normalize a little more. read more

Place is extremely blah... food was bland and the size of the portions was very small for a restaurant in the South. Had a sandwich and it was 90% bread... The staff was distant and unenthusiastic... never looked us in the eye. Only got enthusiastic after he left us the check. Too many good places in the area to give this place a second chance. I was extremely impressed with TJ Crockmiers We had been outside watching a pole vaulting completion and decided to go in and sit on the balcony upstairs. I was shocked by how nice the inside was. I was expecting a hole in the wall bar. I was wrong. Very nice furnishings. The walls are all dark wood like an old steakhouse. The outside dining options are great with a great view to anything happening on Daulphin Street. And the food. Fabulous. We only had crab fingers and chili. But let me tell you, wonderful food. The cocktail sauce was tangy. The tater sauce was the best I've ever had. A little different than the usual. It had cabbage and carrots in it. The chili is award winning and I know why. Very few beans and loaded with cheese. I added onions. We thought about going back the next day for lunch to get it again. And it's near 100 degrees here. Not really chili weather. I am a frequent patron of TP's since we hold our monthly paralegal luncheon there. So, let's start there, We use the second floor for our meetings and we always have the same server, David. He is the most fantastic person. He's personable and friendly. In fact, he has most of our orders memorized at this point, down to the drinks. Our group side Carrie's, but we average about 25 people. Our food is always out fast and at the same time so no one is left waiting. My favorite is the Super Chicken sandwich with the cheese and bacon... Seriously, it will change your life. The only complaint we've had is that we sometimes get moved into one of the side rooms if there are multiple events going on. These rooms are located in the old Grand Central and they have a musty smell due to the areas not being used frequently and it can be pretty hot. Otherwise, there are zero complaints from our group. Outside of our meetings, I've eaten there on numerous occasions. The staff is always fantastic and the wait is never long, but I'm not always blown away by the dinner which doesn't put it high on my list for outings frequently. read more

We came here while passing through Mobile. Service was friendly enough. We tried the wings. For $10 they were really tiny, and no wing sauce came with at all. They were crispy and cooked perfectly though. The chili is supposed to be award winning so we tried it. Unfortunately it had no flavor and little texture. It's a crowded Friday night in downtown Mobile and people are out enjoying a little weekend before the tropical storm rain sets in. Every place is packed including TPC, but my party of 3 is hot, hungry and thirsty, so we opt for an immediate seat at the bar. We are quickly served cool refreshing drinks by a very busy but super sweet and friendly bartender (sorry I can't recall her name). As soon as we decide what to order, she's back to take it, even offering recommendations and being super patient when we change our sides as she's entering the order to the kitchen. I have the chicken teriyaki with broccoli and sub roasted Brussels sprouts for the rice. It is served pretty quickly and is fresh and delicious. I definitely recommend TPC if you are looking for a cooler place to sit down and enjoy drinks and a meal with your friends. read more

My best friend came into town with her husband, kids and her mother. After walking around downtown for a couple of hours we were famished and decided to stop into TP's. It wasn't very busy since it was a Sunday afternoon around 3:00. We were seated right away and Karen our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I had the club sandwich which was huge! It was delicious. My husband had the shrimp poboy which he said was delicious. The hamburgers that a few friends ordered were huge, cooked to order and flavorful. We all had onion rings and WOW! Ate here while traveling to Mobile for a show. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was very good! Other food around me look equally good. The menu was versatile as it had seafood, burgers, chicken, sandwiches, and multiple sides to choose from. The atmosphere was chill and relaxing as it was a nice, casual restaurant. Prices were decent. Waitress was nice and attentive as well. Parking is around the corner in a "pay to park" lot but it was $10 for 4 hours. Worth it. I had the roast beef po boy tonight, which was good (and a little spicy), as were the onion rings. The service was slightly spotty but friendly. I suspect the place was understaffed tonight. I believe the prices of the sandwiches are a little high (though perhaps not, considering the location compared to, say, that of Callaghan's or Butch Cassidy's further west), but the quality of the food is good. I also sampled the tuna salad, which is good. Parking might be difficult, but that is also the case at Callaghan's or Butch Cassidy's. I arrived starving, but the service wasn't at all slow. There were small flaws with the food, but the staff hustled. The burger was tasty and priced below what you would find in a full service place. It had a good grill taste, and even though it wasn't a favorite in a competitive burger town, I would order it again. The old place was lots of fun. The food was never outstanding, but the atmosphere (and strong toddies) more than made up for it. Now that they are Downtown it just is not right. The food (I have eaten here 3x) is not good at all. I actually enjoyed (back in the day) things like a greasy Monte Cristo. Now it is just bland and greasy - not a good taste. Service is fine and the location is good. There are just too many other options less than 100 yards away that have more to offer. It would be sad to lose a Mobile institution, but unless I hear otherwise it is off of my list. read more

Pretty disappointed. What a waste of a beautiful building in a great location. I ate at the Florida street location twice and it was good, but I did not have very high expectations. It was a dingy bar/restauraunt. I walked into the "new" Crockmeirs and was stunned by what a nice job that they did with the decor. I couldn't wait to see the new menu. Nope. Same old menu, with higher prices. Food: I really like french onion soup. I have to say that it is pretty good and I can't find it anywhere else. My brother had their $8 bowl of chili. It was a decent bowl of chili. We both had steak fries as a side. Good fries. The second time that I ate there I ordered the chili cheeseburger for $10. I told them that they forgot the chili. The waitress informed me that it was under the patty. After further investigation, I did find a teaspoon or so of chili. The person that I was eating with ordered the nachos. The nachos were terrible. What??? Terrible nachos? Canned everything. Service: Service was fine. It did take a looooong time. Over an hour for lunch, which is not acceptable for nachos and a burger w/ fries. This place really needs to learn how to handle a normal lunch crowd. Twice is enough... I'm done. read more

Hmmmmmm I haven't been here in years. Was downtown Saturday so I thought we could try it. I'm not sure if I will be back. My son ordered the sampler the cheese sticks were cold ( cheese didn't move) lol. My food was okay, but for the price . I ordered the oyster plater fried soft, with grits and broccoli. I was expecting so much more with the presentation but instead a slice of watermelon. Hubby order the seafood platter he feel cheated because of the portions. The fried green bean were very good and I love the crab cake appetizer with the option of fried or grilled and we selected one of each. Over all not terrible but with all the restaurants in the area they may want to step up the portions and be more attentive. Maybe that's why it was not many people in there on a Saturday night. Well, we've given this place a lot of chances, it's easy to be seated, and it's been convenient to eat at on Symphony nights when we forget to get reservations at a restaurant in the LODA area. Last night was the last time though for us to go. Got there at 6:10pm, was given half a menu, not even the half with the entrees. Took us 15 minutes to get our drinks, and mine was only water. Finally ordered food and 45 minutes later it arrived. My burger was fair, my wife got potato boats that consisted of hollowed out potato halves and melted cheese, no bacon, no sourcream, no chives, just cheese and potato. The service was slow, it was poor quality food, and the manager did nothing to make it right. So, no more pre-Symphony meals there, no more after-Symphony dessert there, no more of anything to deal with TP's. read more
