We started with the caesar salad and french onion soup. I liked the salad, however my boyfriend really did not like the soup. Our entrees (pork chop and shrimp Alfredo) were good just nothing out of the ordinary. Our server was nice but did not check in at all when the appetizers or entrees came out. What a treat. We took advantage of their prix fixe menu in the bar and had the best meal of our trip. Caught their happy hour drink pricing for our first round which was an added bonus. Our server/bartender Jay was great. So nice to have a bartender who knows what they are doing, makes a great drink and is a good conversationalist. We ate downstairs last night at Scotty B's and it was such a disappointment especially in the quality of service. If you are going to pay Hawaii prices it is so nice to have excellent service. We come to Poipu often and have eaten at many restaurants during our stay. We had dinner recently at Table at Poipu, it was the best meal I've ever had on the island. Lovely interior, comfortable booths and white tablecloths make your dinner feel special. Great service, many wonderful selections on the menu and great service. We had to 45 minutes to get one drink and bu that time I had to flag down our waitress to put in our orders. She claimed they were under staffed which was absolutely true but the question remains why are you understaffed during a holiday week. The food was meh. Everything took so long that we actually asked for our check as soon as the food came because we weren't sure if we would have to wait an hour to get it. And it was our son's birthday and he was so ready to leave that he didn't even want dessert with a candle. Total disappointmen. Do not recommend. read more

Great food/drinks and friendly staff. My family and I had dinner here on our last night. For a Saturday evening it was empty but I believe it's because unfortunately, this restaurant doesn't have an ocean view like the other restaurants do. Made my reservation for 5pm on Open Table and was seated right away. I'm guessing 5pm is a little early for dinner, but my wife was running the marathon the next day and had to sleep early. Upon entering, I noticed that their happy hour is from 3pm-5pm at the bar. Also, while dining, I notice how warm is was where we were sitting. When we entered, it was pretty cool, but I guess where we were sitting, the air wasn't working. Even out server was sweating a little bit. I wished they would have turned up the ac in our area. The menu is not the biggest, but the food was great. I ordered the French onion soup and the pork chop. My wife ordered the mushroom risotto goat cheese croquettes. The french onion soup was a bit salty. I did like the pull of the cheese and bounciness, but it was a bit too salty for me. The croquettes was not my favorite as I am not a fan of goat cheese at all. The pork chop was so tender and fatty, it was probably one of the best I've ever had. The mashed potatoes that accompanied it was fantastic. Nice and buttery. New restaurant in the Shops at Kukuiula just opened October 27. Open only Wednesday through Saturday only, as like a lot of places here, staffing shortage. Phoned up 30 minutes beforehand to get a 5pm Wednesday reservation. Came straight from the Wednesday 330-530pm weekly Farmers Market in the Shops of Kukuiula. Restaurant is located on the top floor of Ruth Chris' former location, across from Merriman's. White table cloth, stainless steel utensils, candlelight setting. The works. A place to impress. I even wore a collared shirt, along with my usual shorts and sandals. The $11 organic green salad came with cucumbers, sliced carrots, sliced tomatoes with balsamic dressing on the side. Large portion enough to feed two as a starter. Could have added lettuce from our head of lettuce purchased for $3 at the Farmers Market. Passed on the $28 three bacon wrapped scallops, even if they were very large scallops. We passed on the $32 blackened fresh fish, as it was mahi mahi, the one white fish my wife doesn't care for. The $31 bone-in pork chop was covered with a thin glaze of pineapple, with no hint of whiskey. About 7 ounces once the bone and gristle were removed. Looks bigger than it is, as on top of mashed potatoes and spinach. About 5/8" thick, too sweet for the wife, but just right for me. The $22 penne pasta is a dish with penne pasta in a mild green pesto sauce, combined with diced tomatoes, asparagus, and a healthy dose of cooked artichoke hearts. Mother of all pasta dishes, served in a bowl large enough for salad mixing, some 5" high and 9" in diameter. Wife gave me much of the pasta, and ate the vegetables, savoring the artichokes. No mention of artichokes nor asparagus in the menu. Only for artichoke lovers. Didn't save room for dessert -wanted to check out that Haupia pudding with blueberries and strawberries. Excellent ambiance, food presentation, and immaculate service from Sean, who was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, yet not intrusive. Did not bring my debit card on this trip, and it cost me, as bill came with a 4.18% credit card surcharge, a first for me. It is what it is. read more

Definitely not the intimate date kind of place. Very loud!! Could have been romantic but was more the golf and country club kind of place to have dinner. The food is pretty good. The decor is contemporary Kauai and some of the dishes have a slight Asian-inspiration. But the crowd took away from the experience. read more

My son and I dined here recently and we were very pleased. The servers, Danielle at the bar and Jenny at dinner, were personable and not pushy. I loved that instead of the more expensive drink with lilikoi Danielle added lilikoi to the half priced drink. The French onion soup was classic. Better than I had in Paris. My son's pork chop was the best, most succulent I have ever tasted. (And I'm 89 years old!). The Cole slaw was tasty as were the other accoutrements. Best of all the space is not noisy. Tables are not close to each other. I hesitate to dine out because of the usual horrendous noise level in restaurants. I say "well done." read more

We had a nice meal at Table at Poipu. Our waitress, Erica, was very kind and helpful. The night we were there, they were not serving cocktails -- which was a bit of a disappointment, and they were out of the fried artichoke appetizer we tried to order. But otherwise the food was tasty and enjoyable. For the meal, we split the spinach artichoke dip and roast fennel and beet salad to start. I ordered the chicken Marsala, which was served with polenta and asparagus. A lot of the nicer restaurants do not serve chicken, so I was happy to find a place that did with a nice preparation. For dessert, we got the lilikoi crème brûlée and the mint chocolate chip ice cream pie. Both were tasty, but I did not really taste the lilikoi flavor on the crème brûlée. A very very small menu, too small. The drinks were ok. The bread was warm, fresh and delicious. The beet salad was very good. The Ahi was just ok. It tasted ok but had a funny smell. The pasta was good but the artichokes should have been cut, not as is right out of the can. The atmosphere was very good. The service was ok. Firsts off the food tasted excellent. It was presented beautifully. However, a few strange and uncomfortable moments. I told the waitress to keep substitute spinach for the rice. It came out with rice, no big deal just bring me a side of spinach which she did. But then she came out with tongs to remove the rice scoop from my plate. Mind you it had been in front of me and in unattended on my plate for at least 5 minutes. I was completely taken aback and when she took it off my plate she said I'll leave you a little. I was thinking WTF ??? It wreaked of a low class and very disturbing question as to where was this rice going...back to be served to someone else? Why remove the rice from a plate that's on a plate that's already been eaten off of? Gross and off my list forever to return to. read more

Restaurant is new and clean. The staff is just not very friendly. The waiter just barely answers questions, came back about 3 times to make us hurry up on the order. After declining the dessert, he just threw the bill on the table. Maybe we didn't order enough booze for his quota. More to the point, there is just a general lack of flavor in the food. We ordered the spiced ribeye which was a bit tough and devoid of flavor. It came with 3 pieces of asparagus and a small scoop of (again flavorless) mashed potatoes for $51. The penne pasta was watery and oily. The vegetables and cheese were fine, but again they missed the mark. They should have a lot more pesto included to provide flavor beyond the overbearing salt flavor. read more

Sometimes you just happen to come across a gem. That's what we found at Table. So, okay, let's get the bad stuff out of the way. It does not have an ocean view. It is not a large restaurant compared to other places nearby. The bar area seems small. But, the decor is nicely done. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is amazing. We came on a Friday night and the dining area was rather sparse. We ordered our drinks and got the French Onion Soup as a starter. Great call there. The soup was spot on and every part of it was made on site. My wife ordered the Chicken Marsala and was well pleased. I got the Blackened Ahi and was blown away. Not plates were attractively plated. To end the evening we got the Chocolate Decadence Cake. Again, another triumph. We could easily have paid more at other places with bigger names but this was your benefit as we got a high quality meal at a lower price. Bravo! read more

My fiancee and I patronized this restaurant recently after reviewing it on line. My first impression was the room is inviting, spacious and airy. We were seated in a cozy booth, private, and charming. Elissa our server was pleasant and attentive. When she inquired us about drinks, I requested a Mai Tai when I saw her acting as bartender that was a red flag. I couldn't drink it and had it returned. Take two, I ordered a Cadillac Margarita, Ok, not Jerry's at the Onion ( I'm spoiled). She had the Mahi Mahi with green beans bland and generic. I had the Pork Chop because it received reviews it was dry, not moist and a bit overcooked. My overall impression is nothing overwhelming here. We left feeling So/So, definitely not blown away. We felt like more attention should be on the food and get an pro bartender. If we were asked if we'll return our answer would be a negative. Mixed bag here. The server was good very attentive but the bar service was so slow. It took 10 -15 minutes to get get our drinks. The drink pours were bad Didn't even fill half the martini glass. The Cesar salad was good very tasty. The main dish was disappointing. I had the pesto macadamia pasta. It was not that great. Very salty and watery. It was so odd I added shrimp to my pasta and they charge 3 dollars for each added shrimp. I don't mind paying an add on fee but I have never seen a per piece fee. The shrimps were small but cooked fine. It kinda reminded me of hotel restaurant nothing very special. read more

The food was "nice" at best and lower standard than the location / decor would suggest. Small plates, we shared the mushroom risotto goat cheese croquettes (barely any mushroom and no taste of mushroom or goat cheese) and the Kauai prawn saffron risotto - nice taste and generous portions of prawns Main - we shared the seafood paella, good sharable size and strictly "nice" hence the three stars. read more

I'm thinking the previous bad reviews were submitted by people who have no idea what they're talking about. I guess to each his/her own. Anyway, we're staying at the Grand Hyatt (truly wonderful hotel but with meh overpriced food). We immediately decided to eat off property upon arrival. We had dinner at Table on our third night. Wish we'd gone sooner. The food is -- for an upscale island restaurant -- reasonably priced. And it is DAMN good. We enjoyed the French onion soup, grilled artichoke (best I've had in years, hands down, and we live near the area where most US artichokes come from in California), braised beef, macadamia crusted mahi mahi, and crème brûlée. Every single dish was perfection. Our server, Jenny, was excellent. The bartender had a bit of a heavy pour for my mom's mai tai but when asked, he quickly whipped up a lighter and tastier replacement that she made quick work of. Do yourself a favor and ditch the overpriced resort restaurants + ingredient-heavy menus and give Table a try. You won't regret it. Note: as of this review, the restaurant is only open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. This is because the sous chef moved to their sister restaurant (Bistro Kilauea) and the head chef is handling all meal prep at Table. We have not tried Bistro Kilauea but will def add to our list for the next time we're on Kauai. read more

Our waitress, Jenny, was sweet as sugar cane. The artichoke- 10/10, absolutely perfect. Save the dill sauce and ask for sourdough to dip. The ribs fall off the bone, sauce is not sweet (thank goodness), and the coleslaw was actually good! I don't even like coleslaw! Onto the fettuccine, best I've ever had - my only suggestion is to share because it's very rich. (Not too rich, just a very well done rich, best to be shared kind of rich.) Sadly, Table at Poipu is not a restaurant that I can/will recommend. There is definitely potential, however, it is very apparent that corners are cut in service, food quality, etc., which is understandable in the current economy and lower tourism numbers. Servers remind me of ladies who have been spent their lives working at chain restaurants. VERY efficient and not in a good way ... lacking warmth, calmness and ability to engage with guests and make them comfortable. Started with the Beet Salad, which arrived faster than was possible to have been freshly prepared. Then ordered Grilled Artichoke, Prosciutto & Goat Cheese and Spinach Artichoke Dip - none of which I recommend. Artichoke hardly has any meat and stem was very stringy. The Goat Cheese pieces so tiny, and California Pizza Kitchen has a more flavorful artichoke dip. She did offer to bring more bread so that was something. Delicious dinner last night here at the Table. We had an 8:00 reservation for 4 of us and were seated immediately. Came prepared with our own wine because it's BYOB for now until they get their liquor license in March. However, our hostess told us we could have 2 open bottles on the table, but then our waitress came and said we could only have 1 open bottle at a time. So we couldn't have some of us drinking white and some drinking red (hence the 4 stars instead of 5. We had 2 orders of the bacon wrapped scallops; delicious. Also had the mushroom croquettes, but we weren't fans of that one. For dinner we got 2 of the family plates to share: the prawn boil and the seafood risotto. Delicious!
