Hot Pastrami on Rye with sweet potato fries

I'm originally from the Northeast, and Table Talk reminds me of one of those small, family owned diners you'd find nestled on the main street of a cozy, New England town. Food was as expected and hit the spot, service was fast, and staff were friendly. I'll be back!

First time visiting Table Talk even though I have driven past it several times. Table Talk seems like a local spot with faithful returning patrons. The restaurant has a small parking lot. When you enter you have plenty of seating but it is seat yourself. There was not a breakfast combo that includes sides but you can order a combo that includes eggs, potatoes and a meat. I ordered a half stack of pancakes which I thought would be mini instead they were as big as the plate itself. The potatoes were okay. Definitely needed more seasoning. Some of the larger pieces of the potato were not as well cooked either. The eggs were decent, again needed some more seasoning. Service was quick and overall I enjoyed the pancake which was big enough for two people.

Table Talk isn't just a neighborhood staple -- it's a full-on comfort food sanctuary. This place knows exactly what it's doing: feeding your soul one decadent bite at a time. For breakfast, I walk in and let the cravings take the wheel. The Eggs Benedict with crabcakes? Absolute perfection. Think golden, runny yolks cascading over a buttery English muffin, hugged by sweet, savory crabcakes that taste like they were just pulled from the Chesapeake, and drizzled with a rich hollandaise. (Or sometimes I opt for Canadian bacon). Or go full tilt with the fried chicken and waffles -- crispy, juicy chicken wings next to crispy, fluffy waffles, syrup dripping like a slow-motion food commercial. Add a mimosa (or three) and you've officially started your day like royalty. Lunch keeps it classic. I usually go for a made-to-order sandwich -- thick slices of roast turkey, juicy grilled chicken, or maybe some melty tuna melt action -- paired with a heap of hot, golden fries. The kind that make you forget any woes and just think about eating. The vibe? Bustling in the best way. It's the clatter of plates, the chatter of locals, and the clink of coffee mugs that say, "You're in good hands." The service is always solid -- no pretense, just warm, welcoming, and on point. Table Talk isn't flashy -- it doesn't need to be. It's that ride-or-die diner that always delivers, whether you're celebrating, recovering, or just craving something real. Come hungry. Leave happy. Repeat often.

The breakfast menu is where Table Talk earns its reputation, and rightly so. The pancakes are a revelation in restraint: properly golden at the edges, cloud-soft at the center, carrying that quiet confidence that only comes from a kitchen that has stopped second-guessing its craft. The eggs arrive exactly as ordered -- no small feat, and never to be taken for granted. The home-style potatoes deserve their own paragraph; seasoned with intention, crisped with care, and possessed of that rare quality that makes a diner pause mid-bite and simply appreciate the moment. This was my first time at Table Talk, I pass by it often and always see cars, so clearly, I knew it was popular, good, or has loyal patrons...Upon my visit I'm going to have to go with loyal patrons. Backstory...I love a hot breakfast, and I grew up on Waffle House and Waffle House prices/portions so spending $20 before tip on a 2-egg breakfast that didn't include bacon, or a pancake or waffle was baffling. They don't even have a breakfast special that includes pancakes, a waffle, or French toast. All those items are a la cart only and the lowest price is $8.75. Now granted the additional $4 of bacon portion was justified, but if I wanted eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast here with two pancakes and a coffee it would be $25.50 before taxes and tip?..............Nah. For that price for breakfast, it would have to be AMAZING!!! and although the food wasn't bad it wasn't good enough for that price point. I had to season the potatoes with salt and pepper since it lacked both, but everything thing else was good. The place gives old dive vibes, which sets the scene for a local breakfast spot, and the service was pretty good but living in NOVA or not, in no way should a basic short-order cooked breakfast be $25.50. I will say this the portion of the bacon, and potatoes alone you could share the 2-egg breakfast with pancakes. I would do that if not you may be upset walking out paying $50-$60 for two breakfast plates.

food came out in good amount of time. it was super busy when we came but we were still seated very quickly! the garbage can omelette is a great deal and everything is hearty and filled with flavor without making me feel like pass out the way diner food normally makes me feel lol

Definitely a place I would go back too. Food was good as well as service. We went for breakfast only. Prices were reasonable and portions satisfactory. The customer service was really a outstanding and this is a nice little breakfast spot. But they did break one cardinal rule they burnt my devil's candy but they replaced it so we were all good lol. If you don't know what devil's candy is, it's bacon lol

Solid breakfast spot in Alexandria. Portions are big - I had a bunch to take home. Home fries are the big winner. Chunky and well seasoned. Sausage gravy is spicy - really good. Little pricey - my items from the pics plus coffee was $35. But it is a lot of food.

Yassssss Table Talk! Such a solid location to doordash from! The food is packaged well and always so tasty. I will try something different next time but I just love that the build your own omelette is big enough to save some for the next day.

This gives old school ambiance. The decor is dated and the food heavy. Made me think of the type who love the buffet. My husband loved it ! He lives for heart attack diet. So if you live heavy biscuits and gravy with a huge side of breakfast potatoes this is your place. If you're looking for something not saturated in butter and grease this is not the place. Service was great our waitress was very kind.

I haven't been here in a while. Primarily a breakfast place to me. They are now open for dinner too. They have a steady stream of customers but they can turn the tables quickly. Good size menu and they do offer brunch specials on weekend. The decor hasn't changed in decades. A friendly local cafe with decent food and friendly service.

The food....very well seasoned and plentiful portions. Family atmosphere. The servers are very friendly and capable. The prices I find to be ewasonable for this area. Warm and professional greeting upon entering. There is a nice bar area as well.

No frills, very basic and cheap diner. Home fries not really seasoned, however, the pancakes were fluffy.
