We love Tac Do Donuts. Not only do we come here often but it's a birthday tradition for me and my family. Every year for each member of my households birthday we get a dozen donuts from Tac Do Donuts. Wonderful mom and pop shop. Friendly and caring people. Tac Do always pops up as one of the best donut places in the area and I think I can see why! Located behind a gas station on the corner of Taft x Tustin, it's a bit hidden but easy to find parking. Inside is small with basically just the counter and the glass display case. Simple and straight to the point! Interestingly enough there was Christmas music playing....in summer! I wasn't sure what I needed to try, but I love apple fritters so it was an easy choice once I saw them available! Service was friendly enough despite minimal interaction (no conversation, just ordered and paid). No complaints here. But the apple fritter.....oh my! This is easily ranked as one of the best apple fritters I have ever had! I'm sort of picky about them and it seems that many places don't get them quite right. Sometimes too cakey, not enough apples, etc. But this one was exactly how I like them! My favorite part is the crisp edges, but then you get that soft almost gooey (but not raw) middle. Plenty of apple pieces, and perfectly spiced. When I'm craving an apple fritters, I will need to come back here to get it! Side note, I see Tac Do pop up on "Too Good To Go" all the time, and I think I will need to try that out. A variety of their donuts for a small price? Sounds like a great way to try more things! They have AMAZING chocolate cake donuts. They aren't too sweet and have a really nice crust on the outside. Most places I've gone to have been soggy but theirs have a nice crunch when you bite into them. The donuts are super fresh. The staff is friendly and they accept Apple Pay. Donuts all looked beautiful and they tasted just as good as they look!! I am still dreaming of their delicious blueberry donut. Took a box to work and people seemed to enjoy them! The only real problem with this donut shop is it's only open in the mornings, and I'm not a morning person! However, I finally was up early one morning and was finally able to visit. As with all donuts, I rate them by the maple bars. The good news is they were top notch. Soft dough with just the right amount of maple that didn't flake off. Excellent job. They also had a fun assortment of donuts as everyone is getting into the cereal topics, or chocolate chips, or whatever they can sprinkle on top. I'm not really a fan of those, but they are a fun treat every now and then. The people working behind the counter was super nice and friendly. The place was clean if I wanted to stay and eat my donut there, but I was heading home so I opted not to. Stopped in here for the first time since it's so close to me and only the regular glazed donut was fresh. Also tried the croissant and chocolate "bar" and they were not good at all but just tasted dry. So disappointed. The young guy working there was really sweet, and maybe I just arrived too late in the day (around 11am) but I could tell that neither the bar or croissant that I tried were made that day. I don't eat donuts very often these days, since I already imbibe in too many sweets, but I am disappointed that an old school shop would let me down. It's strange that the reviews are all so high but they must either be early bird regulars or friends. Go figure. Used to be really good. I'd only go every couple of months & just get a couple glazed. When I first started going the glazed were delicious but they must've changed the recipe not changed the fry grease because the glazed now are just awful. Hit or miss depending on who knows what. Sometimes good but often bad. As an example I will take my last 2 visits. We got some French donuts today that were a day old which is a big no no for a donut shop. They were hard and terrible. Last week I went by and the chocolate frosting was also old. You can tell that it is old by the brownish tint. Fresh chocolate frosting is dark black and thick. So I think I will take Tac Do off my list for now. So I've been coming here for about 6 years and the donuts have always been pretty good. I hadn't gone in a while and just yesterday I decided to stop by again. Welllll looky here, seems like they have new owners and along with the new owner comes this new great little BLUEBERRY DONUT! WHAT???? Yeah exactly, they are so good. Prices are better than other shops in the area and the ladies working the counter are super friendly. We used to go to DK Donut on Chapman Ave, but since they started getting crazy donuts for the kids they don't carry the regular fritters and buttermilk that we like. We were disappointed here.
