I've never been disappointed by a meal here, yet I wouldn't go as far to say that this is my favorite Mexican place around or something I make as a destination for myself to go to. It's more like: "I have a craving for Mexican, I'm in the Marina and don't want to walk too far" and I end up at Tacko. I don't want to make it sound too mediocre either. They have a great menu and as many hot sauces and salsas as you could possibly want. I'll normally go with a Mahi Mahi baja burrito or the one with french fries and steak, depending on how I am feeling that particular visit. The burritos are not as big as a place like Chipotle, but they are tastier in my opinion. I'm not thrilled about dropping ten bucks for a burrito every time I come in, but such is life in the Marina. The wait times can get long but I don't feel that it presents an issue. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! Daniel and I have been looking forward to trying this new place out for awhile. The first time we tried, the place was closed randomly. The second time, we tried to go on a Monday night. I guess we missed the memo that they are closed on Mondays! DUH! Anyways...we loved it! Everything from the food to the decor to the atmosphere. Even though it's a mexican restaurant, it is decorated in a Nantucket nautical theme which is kind of interesting, but needless to say I can't resist either...nautical stuff or mexican food. I ordered the Carne Asada Quesadillas and my, oh, my...they were DELISH!! The way the cooks prepare the tortilla makes it flaky almost like Phyllo dough. Daniel ordered the California Burrito which has french fries rolled inside. He felt it was pretty good and the french fries made an interesting combo. He did like their HUGE variety of hot sauces. I stopped into Tacko with friends after the first Niner playoff game, which came after parking myself at Eastside West for the evening across the street. Already pretty full from all the beer but deprived of food, Tacko was easily a great option since Pizza Orgasmica had its usual line out the door. My friends and I found a table by the window inside Tacko; as it turns out we were lucky since we left the bar before it completely let out. Anyway, I'm usually really picky when it comes to burritos, and I usually am that annoying person who starts off their order with "no this, no this, just a little bit of this, and extra this". So, imagine my shock when I saw Tacko's menu board that shows the various ways you can include or exclude things in your burrito! I ordered the San Diego burrito with carne asada, which comes with just cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole. And that's it. And I ate all of it. Normally I like shrimp tacos, but at $4.50, I saw more value in the San Diego burrito. I will most definitely be back if I'm in the area, I certainly liked this more than Taco Bell down the street. read more

It was a pretty good size which I liked since everything in the Bay Area is so expensive! I really felt like I got my money's worth. They have every hot sauce you could possibly think of! The decor is silly, but whatever; it has no bearing on the food. Chairs with real backs would be appreciated, rather than the picnic tables. I usually go very early in the evening, when there's no line whatsoever, and the kitchen is still slow. The music is way too loud when the place is empty. The three stars are for the owner, who is aggressively obnoxious. It would be better if he either didn't interact with customers or toned it down. Worst lobster roll I've ever had. First it cost $17 and change, the sandwich was like a think slice of bread with a slit cut in it like a hotdog bun. Going to school in Southern California and tasting countless Mexican restaurants in Santa Ana, San Diego and neighboring cities has definitely raised my standards when it comes to fast food Mexican food. My girlfriend raves about Taco Tuesdays here and this restaurant actually offers a California burrito (fries inside instead of traditional rice). I ordered the Carne asada California burrito ($9.75) and she ordered 3 carne asada street tacos ($7.50). I have not had a California burrito in almost three years and was anxiously awaiting to be taken down memory lane. Unfortunately, the California burrito was underwhelming and tasted more like fries than anything because there was barely any carne asada present in my burrito. I was truly disappointed and the fries weren't even good. My girlfriend's tacos however were above average and I could definitely taste the quality of meat and the meat was seasoned to perfection. Um, SO good! Finally a damn good taco place in my hood. I just ate two fish tacos that were so good it made my eyes cross. I love the multiple choices of aguas fescas. I don't love the traditional containers they're stored in though. Super cute and all, but not very hygienic. As I got to the bottom of my cantaloupe fresca there was a black hair glaring at me. The flavors of the dishes are pretty authentic even if the combinations or methods are not strictly what you would find in Mexico (coming from a full blooded Mexican). The crispy fried tacos "Nicks Way" are delicious and overflowing with guacamole. I highly recommend the Watermelon agua fresca; it brings back fond childhood memories. My lunch companions enjoyed their food as well (tortilla soup and burritos). The only complaint is that all the food was on the salty side. It's worth checking it out. read more

The food is fine. Better than most Mexican places in the Marina. However, be warned it is very expensive. Three burritos, a beer, and a Horchata cost $53 . They are not messing around here on prices.
