Great find!!! Ended up here after going to a another restaurant and they were temporarily closed due to electrical issue. This shop is tucked away in an alleyway. I spent a good 10 minutes walking up and down on S Center trying to find this place. After a few minutes (and being super windy and cold) I finally decided to call and ask for directions. The shop is in between Death & Taxes and Midtown Eats. The menu is small so it was easy to decide what to order. We ordered asada tacos and crispy fried fish tacos, both with red sauce on side. The wait wasn't long, maybe about 10 minutes. Both tacos were delicious, however, we wished the tortillas were double layered especially for the asada to absorb the grease LOL! My wife and I have become addicted to their tacos. Now, for absolute clarity, if you're coming from somewhere like Los Angeles where Mexican food is overly abundant, these are still good tacos! With a squeeze of lime and a touch of salsa, I'd say that's a party. I just love how simple it is. You walked up, order, and voila! I would not recommend getting a burrito there, though. What a great little hole in the wall place for tacos! Located behind Death and Taxes in the alley, they get backed up with orders pretty quickly, I recommend calling in your order so it's ready when you arrive. This locally owned Latino business does amazing things with their tacos. Amazing customer service and delicious food. We ordered a torta with al pastor meat and 3 tacos with the al pastor meat. They add chunks of pineapple in the meat that gives it a sweet and tangy flavor to it. Their salsa roja is deliciously spicy and goes great with the tacos. We have experienced Mexican Food from a very high level prepared by experienced chefs to street food made on carts. The Reno Taco Shop is close to what you might find in Mexico. It is in essence a walk up taco stand with some outside Patio Dining Tables. I'm not sure what they do during the winter. We both had Carne Asada and Carnitas Tacos as well as Guacamole. The Tacos come two to an order and must be of the same type of meat. Our tacos were authentic but the Guacamole may have had to much Cumin (?). We were there on a Tuesday at around 5 pm when customers were coming in as quickly as others left. The customer just ahead of us ordered 9 sets of tacos. We would go back. read more

This hidden gem is a new favorite of mine! I discovered it during the earlier days of Covid from a post on a Reno Foodies group page. It was so highly recommended along with the recommendation of a couple of specific tacos. I had an in-person doctor's appointment a few days later, checked it out, and I was hooked from the beginning. I just call and order ahead for pick up. It has gone smoothly all four times. My first time I ordered the Cheeseburger Taco, Fish Taco, and Pastor Taco. There is a deal when you get 2 or 3 tacos, but you cannot mix and match for the special price. Another reason to bring friends or family who have the same preferences as you. ;) The Cheeseburger Taco was a bit strange to me the first couple of bites, but it's strange in an amazing way! It is a bit addictive, too. I even tried to make a copy cat version at home, because I loved it so much. Mine is close, but they definitely know what they are doing and their's totally beats mine. The best way to describe it is that it tastes similar to a Big Mac as a Taco. I am a huge fan of Fish Tacos, but I definitely prefer mine to be grilled and not breaded. That being said, for a breaded Fish Taco, this is really good. I have not ordered it again, though, because I have more important tacos to eat. ;) The Pastor Taco is AMAZING! I have only had Pastor a few times and really was not a fan. Maybe I have just eaten the wrong Pastor until now. The person who led me here, though, went on and on about how these are the best around. So, I had to see what all the fuss was about. It has a wonderful flavor to the meat and then there is the pineapple. Oh my! This is also an addictive flavor. Do you see a trend here? Let's just say that it is a good thing for my pocketbook that I tend to try to avoid the downtown and even Midtown area a lot of the time, because otherwise, I would be there constantly. Since my first time here, I have explored a little bit more. My new favorite is the Veggie Taco. What in the world? This is OFF THE CHARTS for me! It has some grilled and seasoned cauliflower florets in the place of the meat, tart green apple, green pepper, cilantro, and onion. How did someone come up with this masterpiece? If you like cauliflower at all, try this one! Tonight was my fourth visit, but the first time my hubby and son are having food from the Taco Shop. I ordered the Burrito with a substitution of Asada instead of Chicken for my hubby. He hasn't eaten it, yet, since he is going to work in a few hours. I am sure that he will love it. It looks beautiful, is huge, and weighs a lot. I will be sure to update this after I get the verdict. My son is a fan of Carnitas Tacos, so I picked up a couple of those tonight, as well. He enjoyed those, too, but his favorite of the night was the Cheeseburger Tacos (even though he usually doesn't like sauces like the one they generously top that one with... that's saying something). My personal go to's are the Veggie Taco, Pastor Taco, and Cheeseburger Taco. You cannot go wrong with these. One issue is finding this place, especially right now with all the road closures and detours. It is easier when coming from the north (including when using Google Maps... they even got lost the first time). This is literally in the middle of an alley way, just off of Cheney and near Death and Taxes. It is definitely worth getting a bit lost, though. ;) read more

Started an evening of drinking craft beers here and wow! Its a small little place and simple, but its pretty good! You can order 2 tacos for $6 or 3 tacos for $8. You cannot mix and match the meats. If you order chorizo, you get 3 chorizo tacos. I ordered the carne asada (even though I was told that the chicken tacos were bomb) and I was not disappointed! So good! I tried the chicken taco too through a tense negotiation of a 1 for 1 trade and it was good but i liked the carne asada better. I will have to try the chorizo ones next. We ordered the taquitos, fish, asada and chicken tacos, the taquitos were delicious, full of large chunks of white chicken and very crispy without being greasy. The guacamole had big chunks of avocado, was very fresh and seasoned beautifully. They definitely do not skimp on the meat for the tacos, both the chicken and asada were delicious but my favorite was the asada. My only suggestion would be to double up the corn tortilla for more stability. Take me to the taco shop. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place, this is a gem of a place since they've opened. My favorite dish here has to be the asada tacos, but with the red sauce. I want my tongue to burn and the green sauce just doesn't do it for me. The asada is well seasoned, perfect amount of fat on the cut they use and they pile the asada high. They're just tasty and not fussy. Cilantro, onion, and salsa. You don't need anything else when the meat is as good as they prepare it. Other tasty bits are the chicken burrito, they roast their breast so then again, it's well seasoned and prepared. The quesadilla is OK, I just didn't expect the hamburger sauce but it worked. This is why I love yelp - finding places like this! It's not easy to find, it's kind of in an alley, and the sign is hard to spot unless you are looking for it. So yelp was the only way I found it! Small warning - there's only room for about four people in a sheltered area, all other seating is outside. And there was a long line for lunch. So be prepared for winter months or order to go! Small menu, and great prices. And! All of the tacos we tried were delicious. You can order either 2 or 3 of a type. They were bigger than I thought and had a lot of filling. I ordered four but would have been fine with three. We tried the Tacos Al Pastor, Cauliflower Veggie Tacos and fish tacos. They were all delicious. I've been sleeping on the taco spot and I am so sorry about it! My husband and I came here before and they made us some delicious tacos, but we just haven't been back until today. I usually make my own street tacos at home, but I can't make carne asada this delicious! Today we ordered chicken tacos, carne asada tacos, some chicken nachos and some guacamole. Everything was so good! The food came out fairly quickly and tasted super fresh. The guacamole here is very tasty and compliments the tacos well even though they are absolutely perfect as they are. The nachos were amazing as well, covered in a variety of toppings ranging from jalapeños, black beans, corn, cheese, pico de gallo, chicken breast, sour cream and some other really delicious sauce. Oh man, I would order those again any day of the week! The star of the show for me tonight was the carne asada tacos. Sometimes asada meat can be gristle and fat and since I'm a super picky eater, I get grossed out halfway through a taco. Not here! I ate every single piece of meat on my taco including the ones that fell out as I was stuffing my face! We went for a stroll through midtown and saw a little sign with an arrow pointing towards a taco shop so we went to check it out. It's the cutest little white building with pink trim. The seating is all outside with string lights. We tried the carne asada, carnitas, and fish tacos. We also ordered a side of chips and dip. Every single item was AMAZING!!! Visited Taco Shop for the first time a couple months ago, and I was immediately captivated by the ambience, storefront, and layout. The restaurant itself is not very large, and the seating offered are benches located outside. There are umbrellas to help shade from the sun. We were lucky enough to find seating, as a large party was leaving a few tables after we had placed our order. Lively music was playing as I approached, and the staff was upbeat and helpful. I ordered cauliflower veggie tacos, and they tasted great, but lacked spice. Most of the ingredients were fresh and the portions were fairly filling. My main reason for giving this place four stars instead of five is because it has a lot of potential to improve.
