I finally got to feast on these amazing tacos!! This is a hidden gem in Midtown, located off an alley. This will for sure be a go to spot! These tacos are fire! I tried a couple different ones! All come on corn tortillas for my gluten free peeps. I can't really pick a favorite because they were all equally bomb. The tacos were full, a nice portion of ingredients. *Pastor - the meat was so tender and flavorful. The chunks of pineapple really complimented the pork. *Cheeseburger - soooo good! It had all the flavors of a cheeseburger in a tortilla. The sauce was delish. *Crispy Fish Taco - a really good fish taco! Paired nicely with the slaw, fresh avocado, and the avocado crema. They don't allow you to mix and match, which is a bummer, so you have to order 2 or 3 of the same taco in a single order. Tacos are pretty inexpensive, so you can order a bunch to try the different options. The guacamole was on-point. The salsa verde was tasty with a little bit of heat. It's been a minute since I've had this place and I'm not sure why as it's so good! We ordered the pastor and veggie tacos and both were amazing, the pastor quesadilla was even more amazing. If you can do spice, I definitely recommend adding jalapeños and their hot sauce it's so good! What a great place! Exactly the type of winning spot in Reno. It is tucked away right behind Death and Taxes but it is worth hunting down. The food is great, the prices are great and really you won't be disappointed. I have a rather picky toddler and even she wanted to eat the food. We tried a bunch of different tacos including the cheeseburger ones which I feel like I could have eaten 20 of with ease. Simple and easy ordering at a counter and you'll get your food handed to you from the side window/door. It smelled amazing on the drive home and we busted into it so quickly. Top marks for affordability! This tucked away alley taco shop is serving delicious tacos at an affordable price. 3 fat fish tacos for $11 is cheaper than anywhere else. The fish tacos are divine, the fish is so light and buttery, the fresh avocado and tangy cabbage and green sauce give it a decadent kick. Yum! The pastor tacos we tried were on the dry side and not as good as the fish. I loved the little pineapple chunks which added depth the flavor but the meat was just pretty dry. The guacamole had an entire avocado pit in it (so it's definitely fresh haha but could do without the pit!) I also think a few small improvements could be made to the seating area to improve the ambiance- instead of a sad yellowing tarp really lean into the pink theme and get a really nice pink tarp and nice pink umbrellas for every table! It would look so cute and it's not so much more effort! And if they sold lengua tacos and horchata I would be in heaven! read more

I'm always on the hunt for the best taco in town, so when I heard about this little Taco Shop in the alley behind death and taxes, I had to stop by. This is a small building with a minimalist menu and some patio seating. There is a bit of a cold wind, so we decided to grab our order to go. It wasn't super busy, but there were several orders ahead of us. Considering this, the wait wasn't too bad at around 10 to 15. My go to Taco at any new place is the asada. Theirs was well seasoned and portioned. These were served on a single tortilla, which I prefer, not the typical double. The tortilla held up well. This is a solid Taco and better than most I've had in town. I will be back to try more. So, if you're in midtown and want a small bite, this is a great place. read more

Great prices, fast service, great food! They only offer outdoor seating, but they have a tented area with heaters. I got the carne asada torta and my friend got the chicken quesadilla. The meat was well-flavored and tender. The only criticism was that there was corn in the quesadilla, which was a first for me. Everything was fill delicious, and the portions were great. This is one of those places where everybody says it's one of the best places, they have ever been, so my expectations of the food flavor was high, especially when you got to drive around to find a parking spot and then walk a quarter mile to get there, and you're in an alley, you MUST have something mind blowing or darn close, after today I'd never go back and order an asada burrito ever again, nor asada tacos, that's why I'm ranking two stars. I got the asada burrito it wasn't very big, compared to burritos I order elsewhere, so I was really expecting some exceptional flavor, based on the smaller size, that's the only way to make up for something small, its got to be top notch in flavor, it didn't deliver, i kept waiting/wanting the magic experience i was told I'd have, to share the joy others shared, by eating here! I don't like the corn in my burrito that's just weird, the only thing that was close to 5 stars for me was the red hot sauce, I might try the tacos with a different meat, like they have shredded beef if they have, but I just don't see myself going back. The couple of included corn tortilla chips were good very crunchy, nice flavor, but I pretty much don't eat corn chips, unless they are organic, because of GMOs (most corn in America has been hijacked). I'm also avoiding seed oils as much as possible. If you like chips and don't care about likely ingesting GMOs, then these might be worth the worth a trip to try with the red salsa! Reno one of those places, where most people are going to agree and rate a place, exactly the same as everybody else already has, when its 4 stars average and up, plus, I notice everybody in Reno always bumps up their reviews up one or two stars, sometimes they even Spill the Beans in the review where the words don't match the ranking, so my advice, is eat carefully based on Reno's Yelp Reviews, I rarely find them accurate! read more

Another stop on our self-directed taco tour. It's down an alley near restaurants/bars we like to go to, so it was pretty easy to find. The pink doors also make it stand out. You can order two or three tacos that have to be the same meat. There was no line, so the tacos came out very quickly. There is outdoor seating with a few longer tables located under a covering. The weather was not that great, so the warmest seats were under the covers. We haven't been there in the winter, so I'm thinking it would mainly be for takeout. We were thinking this would be a great place for people to go to after a night of drinking, but I don't think it's open that late. read more

Tented seating is also available, but only good when the sun is out and when it is raining, NOT when it is cold. No bathrooms, but they have hand sanitizers. In summary, more of a to-go place. Open 5 days a week from 11am to 9pm, closed Sun & Mon. Street/alley parking. Service - Owner was very friendly and professional. But need to make a few more changes to get to 5 stars. You know the food is good when you entirely forget to take a picture! I visited Taco Shop on a Thursday afternoon around 12:45 pm. Taco Shop is located right behind Death and Taxes. I ended up having to park on Virginia and was luckily able to find a parking spot despite it being lunch time. We ordered 3 chicken tacos, a chicken torta, and a Coke. Our total was $22, which seems like a steal for a delicious lunch for two people. Both the tacos and the torta were delicious. I wish we could mix and match taco options but you can only pick one. Guess that means I'll have to come back and try the others! We ended up splitting the taco plate and torta and it was plenty of food for two folks for lunch. Taco Shop is not really a sit down place. There are a few tables outside, but nothing inside. I can only imagine how busy this place gets during the summer. I only came here for the Hamburger Taco because someone told me it was like a Big Mac in a taco shell - SAY. NO. MORE. One cool thing about Midtown Reno is that they have tons of alleys and they use them for shops, homes, restaurants, you name it! Taco Taco is nestled in an alleyway that you will easily miss if you didn't know to look for it. The Tacos come in sets of 2 for $6, but no mix and matching between a set of 2. The hamburger Taco reminded me of a chopped cheese with mild big mac sauce. I think this would have been incredible after a few drinks. I worked down the street from the taco shop this summer, so this spot became a staple for days when I forgot to pack a lunch. I typically would get either a chicken burrito or 3 al pastor street tacos. The burrito was tasty, filled with rice, juicy chicken, black beans, and corn. They would serve it with some chips and salsa of your choice. It was a solid burrito that would fulfill my cravings without breaking the bank. The tacos were pretty good, the meat wasn't too juicy but I liked the amount of onions and cilantro it came with.
