I ate there on Sunday 6/24 w/ my bf we got there around 8pm and there was one open table. The place is really small but the prices are great and the portions are big. I enjoyed the tortilla chips because they were thin and hot when we got them...the salsa was good too, not too spicy good, go back for some more. I had the chicken Chimichanga...it was good hot and fresh, and on the side of my platter was lettuce, salsa/tomatoes and sour cream at no extra charge! My bf ordered the 3 tacos and picked a variety of 2 chicken and 1 beef his came as a combo with rice and beans. The bill was under $20 for the both of us. It was so much food that I had to pack it for lunch the next day... Great casual place near the pier. read more

BEST FISH TACOS IN SOCAL! I live in northeast LA but go out of my way just for Taco Surf. Their Baja fish tacos are out of this world, the homemade tortilla chips and salsa are always on point, and the service is always helpful and friendly. I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed! Happy Birthday to Me! Spent my birthday afternoon yesterday with my hubby in Seal Beach. We strolled down Main Street and found so many cute shops and eateries. We heard from a few locals that Taco Surf had the best fish tacos so we decided to check them out. I usually do not do reviews on Yelp, mainly because of time, I forgot, or some other reason. But I believe that when service goes above and beyond people should get the recognition they deserve. We normally have a street taco company that comes to our apartments on Friday nights. However tonight they were not here. Since we didn't pull anything out for dinner we decided to look around for a place for tacos. We have tried other restaurants near by so we wanted to try a new one. The yelp reviews are the reason we choose Taco Surf. As soon as we walked in the door we were welcomed with smiling employees (they actually looked happy to be there and it wasn't forced. They told us to sit anywhere. Within 2 minutes of sitting down someone came over and took our drink orders and returned with them very promptly with chips and salsa as well. Our server, Sabrina came over and asked if we had any questions about the menu and told us to take our time but since we were ready we placed our order. Within 10 minutes our food was delivered looking fresh and hot. The food was good but the service Sabrina and the staff provided was awesome and above and beyond other restaurants in the area. They were checking regularly if we needed anything such as drinks and etc. We never had to ask for a refill as they were already ahead of us. Sabrina was very prompt on asking us if we wanted anything else such as dessert or anything else. She even gave us cups for our drinks to go with the leftovers that we had since the portions are a good size. She bagged it up for us as well. When we were leaving all the staff members (4 + Sabrina) said goodbye with a smile on their faces. Its definitely not the kind of restaurant experience we are used to. We never felt rushed so the next table could come in. We didn't see a single dirty table and it was a Friday night, so I think they stay on top of cleaning. I have came here 4 times this week while visiting and the food is consistent every time. The Baja taco is amazing with the fried fish and avocado, so delicious. I also got the Armandos seafood bowl that includes shrimp, fish of the day, rice and beans. So clean and fresh. I give it 4 stars just because tonight we feel forgotten about. We're sitting outside at the farthest table and our waitress hasn't filled waters or anything. So service is not consistent sadly for me personally. read more

Family and I had a big lunch and wanted a small tasty dinner for a reasonable price. We cruised down Belmont Shore without seeing anything and ended up in Seal Beach. Taco Surf looked good and it was. I had two fish tacos. My wife had a vegetarian enchilada and my young daughter had taquitos from the kids menu. Everything was tasty. We didn't have alcohol but it looked good. Service was excellent and our server was extremely friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is a little cantina with a long narrow dining room but it works. Very little meat no beans almost all rice! My Taco Surf experience is pretty limited. I've been exactly once, at the request of my girlfriend, who used to live in the area. She was raving about it and i have to say, when I first saw the place, I was not optimistic. There's something about the way it is jammed on the side of PCH, and the generic pseudo-mexican decor that didn't promise great things when it came to food. That said, I loved it. We walked in at dinner time on a friday night and had a seat available for us. A live band of some sort was playing in the bar, although it seemed more for the 40+ crowd than the 18-25 crowd. The requisite chips and salsa came right away. Solid chips, solid salsa...not much to say here, except that we did get at least one refill without having to ask. That's a total pet peeve when you have to beg to get more chips and/or salsa. The menu looked pretty standard, but plenty affordable. Everything was more or less about $10. I was delighted to find out that they actually offered legitimate quesadillas that were not appetizers. Call me a gringo, but I really do love a quesadilla for lunch or dinner. It came and was as thick and packed a quesadilla as I've had in a while, including all the extras. Overall, great service, cheap menu, solid food. My only complaint is that there was no decent hot sauce/salsa around...just the standard bottle of Tapatio. read more

First, we came here early Friday evening after seeing on YELP that their Happy Hour lasts until 6. Unfortunately, Friday's HH is cut short to 5PM. Bummed, but determined to stick it out and grub on some mexican chow, ordered tacos (some fish, some beef). The server (gotta call out Jake) was incredibly nice and understanding and genuinely seemed apologetic that the HH info was wrong. He ended up comping some mango salsa to assist with the fish tacos. Jake's service and attitude were over-the-top. The food was very good. I would say excellent, but the beef tacos were maybe a 4 star quality, but the fish tacos were stellar! I don't even like fish!! Second time was only a week later. This time nailed Happy Hour and got $1 baja fish tacos, $2 Pacifico beers and delish chips and salsa. I ordered three fish tacos - once again, I don't like fish. Overall, very happy with this taco hangout - which is big because I used to attend another establishment around the corner for their Taco Tuesday. read more

So, it was one of those days where we had a tight schedule. We asked if we could get our food in 20min and they said "absolutely!", immediately they cleaned off a table for our group, took our food and drinks orders and within 20min we got our food served to us, the server was very friendly and it was kind of him to ensure we got our food on time due to our schedule. I got 3 fish tacos without cheese (lactose intolerant) and they were delicious! The chips and salsa were great as well. Taco Surf is pricier and slightly more "Americanized" -- more Baja Calif. style, say -- than El Burrito Jr., but they have draft beer and $1 taco night specials (and pretty-looking people waiting on you) so worth keeping in the consideration set. There's a reason that both El Burrito Jr. and Taco Surf both have been going strong on Main St. for more than 15 years and others have gone out of business. We choose Taco Surf if we are planning to enjoy some draft beers with dinner. Their nachos plate can be a "meal" in itself, and their burritos are fine. However, Taco Surf is not a place that I'd wait 15-30 minutes for a table as some people do. The only places in Seal Beach worth that wait are Beachwood BBQ and Walt's Wharf. read more

Okay I had to give Taco Surf 5 stars! I mean....COME ON!!!!!!!! I'm not too wild about the service in other locations, but the service at the Seal Beach one, combined with great food and atmosphere is amazing! I grew up in Seal Beach going to Taco Surf with my family and it still and always will hold a dear place in my heart. So many memories there....but anyway, on to the food!! I'm not sure if this is "real" Mexican food or what, but I honestly don't give a shit. It's GOOD food. And the prices are amazing. I love that they give you homemade chips and salsa to snack on right as soon as you sit down. Their salsa is the only salsa that I can eat, I don't know what they put in it, but it's just fabulous! Hmmmmm, now I'm craving it! Damn.....my favorite thing to order is the Brandy Salad....which is so big I can usually split it with someone else. It's kid friendly and it's a total local hot spot. GREAT place to go with a group of friends for Happy Hour if you just want to have a nice relaxing and chill dinner/lunch. All in all, Taco Surf is the ONLY place where I will go to eat Mexican food! Came here, three days ago when it was hot out. And it was decent. A good way to end a day at tha beach, after some ice-cream of course! :p Tha waiters/waitresses were generous, always refilling our salsa and chips. I ordered tha Pescado Dinner for $10.50. It was definitely better than anything that would be served at Cheesecake Factory and it was definitely worth tha price. I just love stumbling upon little restaurants and finding tha best food for a steal! Tha fish was perfect! Smokey, crispy on tha outside, and not at all greasy! However to truly taste the essence of Taco Surf you must try an Ensenada Shrimp Taco! For those of you put off by the $4 price, know that you could easily separate the 2 corn tortillas and create 2 delicious tacos with the amount of goodness they offer you in a single order. Another must is their *Famous* Baja Fish Taco which I highly recommend with grilled, rather than breaded and fried, fish. No matter what you choose, be sure to request a side of their Baja sauce and a couple lime wedges, as they will subtly enhance your meal! Additionally, Taco Surf offers a phenomenal, not to mention earliest-starting, happy hour from 2pm-6pm M-Th, 2pm-5pm Fri, offering $1-$2 street tacos and $2 beers! The only downside to the Seal Beach location is the lack of a full bar, which puts those of you craving an icy cool tequila margarita fresh out of luck.
