I don't usually leave bad reviews but these tacos earned this. I got the "pork dorado" "potato" and "chicken mushroom" tacos. The pork and potato taco had this awful salsa on top that made it almost inedible until I had to take it off. And the chicken taco just wasn't good. We were spending the afternoon at Seal Beach and came here after we realized our first choice was cash only. This is a cute little place right on main Street and seal Beach straight back from the pier. There's a bar and color lights and the Mexican paper garland. It's really pretty cute. The bathrooms are tiny but very clean. We got the last table inside, and our server was right there to help us. She brought us our drinks and some chips and salsa. They were nothing special. The chips needed salt and the salsa was okay, but not a whole lot of flavor and definitely not a whole lot of spice. We weren't very hungry so we ended up with smaller lunches. My son got a shrimp taco and an El pastor taco, and I got three chicken taquitos. All were good. The chicken taquitos had lots of fresh and juicy chicken. Our lunch was fine. Five stars all the way. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant and I've been their customer for years. The food is so good and the refried beans are always nice and hot. Today I had a great server named Sabrina. She was courteous, and checked up one me making sure I had everything I needed. I was alone and usually loners get ignored but not here. We got here at opening and the customer service was very friendly. I ordered a lot this meal and there was hit/miss. The scorpion chowder was tasty but wasn't spicy. Wish they had regular chowder instead. The shrimp tacos were delicious and had succulent shrimps in them. The monster fries were crunchy but wish they had more toppings for its price. The burrito was whatever, there was too much rice and bean compare to fish. It overpowered the burrito and I felt like I didn't get any fish with it. I really like this small Mexican restaurant. The service is always great. The menu is large, including liquor and beers. Margaritas! We wish the salsa was a bit more spicier but it's freshly made and never leave a drop. We love all the decor inside, small place and clean. It is beyond me that they can call themselves a taco shop. My husband I came here for a taco Tuesday at 7pm and it was dead and there was not many tables ordering food. One would expect quick service but the employees were all standing around and chatting and the kitchen was blasting metal music which bled through to the front that was playing the radio. Toughest and driest chicken tacos we have ever had and they serve hard taco shells, which were also greasy and fell apart immediately. Salsa was bland and tasteless and the food looked like it sat there for 10 minutes before it came to our table. This is a fun local Mexican place right off Main Street in Seal Beach. Authentic Mexican food with great drinks and friendly service. The ambiance is a bit dark and cramped but is kind of nice after spending time out in the hot California sun or when coming in off the beach for lunch. The free chips and salsa are great! I tried their famous Baja fish tacos which were really yummy and I found out they have a great beer selection. Aside from the chips & salsa and the salad I had, that was probably the only thing that was good and I will add that our server was GREAT!! But unfortunately the rest is just down hill I ordered a taco plate with shredded beef hard shell tacos .. well for starters the taco shells were burnt to the point I was going to send them back. But when I took a bite of my rice & beans .. I myself knew then there was no point in sending them back. The rice was so under cooked and so very bland it wasn't even worth eating and the beans .. probably some of the worst beans I have ever had from a Mexican restaurant... EVER!! They just had no taste at all, like no one clearly put no love into any of the cooking in that kitchen. After taking one bite of the taco I was like ok .. I'll ditch the shell and just eat the meat. But unfortunately that was another miss The meat was more like chunks instead of shredded and again just no flavor at all what's so ever. I ended up drowning my beef chunks in the salsa and ate just that My husband ordered the chicken chimichanga and he said not only was the rice undercooked but the chicken & beans were very bland. Just everything was .. awful I did let our server know about the rice being under cooked as well as the burnt taco shells as well. Of course our server was very apologetic and did offer to replace it. But you can't change the quality of taste with a new plate. We both declined new plates and just settled on eating the chips & salsa and our salad. When asked if we wanted to-go containers and we both said NO and it was at that point I think she knew it was bad. My husband left more than half of his burrito on his plate and I left all the rice & beans on my plate along with the 2 burnt hard taco shells. We paid our bill and walked out. We both were just so disappointed and then we realized why the other Mexican restaurant was more busy. Of all the restaurants on Main Street Taco Surf was the only place NOT busy and we ended up walking to Char-O-Chicken to curve the appetite was still had and yes they were very busy as well. So in the end...Do I see myself returning.. in all honesty.. NO I do not. I've been coming here for over 25 years and they say it only takes 1 experience to ruin it. And this one was it. I'd thought about leaving a 1 star rating .. but because our server was GREAT I decided to leave a 2 star. I'd give her a 5 star if I could. read more

The Super Nachos were just the way I like them, yummy melty cheesy goodness and they added big chunks of carne asada - well worth the extra charge. It is a LOT of food! Most times, when I have Mexican food, I stick to my favorite. This time I tried the Pork Chile Verde Burrito and I'm glad I did. Lots of flavors and it also included sliced avocado on top. There is limited seating (for 2) at this location but we were able to get a seat quickly at 6:45pm on a Saturday night. Parties larger than 4 will definitely need to plan ahead.
