I've been going to Taco Time since I was a kid, and since I was visiting Utah, we decided we needed to stop for a crisp bean burrito, tots, and some crustos! I'd never been to this location in SLC, and wow, it's huge and really nice inside. We ordered, and they brought the food to our table, and it was delicious and so nostalgic. It was dropped off at the managers office and by the time I got it the food was cold and disgusting. Plus I didn't get my mexi fries that I paid for. I called the store and the guy pretended not to hear me, when I asked for a manager he hung up. I tried to call several more times and they wouldn't answer the phone. Taco Time makes for an excellent, quick meal. They have a wide variety of menu options, and my favorite thing is the sweet pork burrito. I crave it! It is sweet, juicy, and always tasty. However, they heat up the meat in a microwave to make it extra hot. This doesn't bother me, but it might bother you. The service is always fast and friendly. The ambiance is better than a normal quick-bite restaurant and is decorated aesthetically. read more

This is definitely americanized Mexican food but the tator tots are what bring me here. Delicious but delivery, not so much. They lose that crunch but you can pan fry them again to come to life. The taco salad is worth it and full of delicious meat. Fresh lettuce and yummy ranch makes it. Drive thru is a little slow. I asked the person at the counter, "Can you make..." and he gladly made something entirely new, exactly to order, and with friendly suggestions to boot. When I was a little girl growing up in Waipahu, Hawaii there is a time where this was the only accessible "Mexican food" available. My favorite has always been the crispy burritos. As I grew into a young lady a boy named Isidro introduced me to authentic Mexican food. It was called Banditos Cantina and it was fancy for a young one. For me Mexifries are synonymous with Tacotime. This was the first restaurant I ever tried the Tater tot style of so Whenever I am fed Funeral Potatoes by the Mormons (Latter-day Saints) I have always thought of Taco time for me Taco time has such wonderful memories Tacotime is a wonderful long-standing restaurant. When I was a kid they took the song On The Road to Shambala by Chicago and turned it into on the road to Taco Time. Taco Time has been and always will be the best place to get your taco on! They have the best hot sauce whether you want mild hot or green. You need to go inside if you want to get some fresh pico de gallo and Escabeche and other fun stuff that they offer in their salsa bar. Taco Bell has the best and I mean the best crisp meat burritos and crisp Bean burritos! They have the big one for when you want a great big giant drink but it's not too big it's just right. Taco Time has the best tater tots. They are the ones who came out with tater tots before any other taco places or burger places in the Salt Lake valley. I remember going to Taco Time when I was in second grade we would drive all the way to Roy Utah and passed Taco Time on the way. Then on the way back we'd stop at Taco Time and eat our dinner. Taco Time is the best place to come and get your sugar crust stoves and your cherry empanadas. I think they need to use less tortilla on the cherry empanadas because too much tortilla is just way too much tortilla. Taco Time is the first one that came out with the Choco Taco. I've come to this location for years. While cleanliness was always around a B- or C+, my experience this week has me rethinking ever returning to this location. We went to the drive thru, ordered, and pulled up to the window. The manager wore her mask over her mouth but not her nose. When we nicely asked her to wear her mask correctly, she got angry, told us she was wearing her mask and that she didn't care if we didn't like how she was wearing it. If the manager isn't setting a great example for their employees, what else are they slacking on? We left without our order and went to the Taco Time on 3900 South State Street. Food was okay. And then I went into the restroom and on the back of the door was a huge insect. It was a roach or a giant beetle. I was so grossed out and sick that I threw up a few times after eating at Taco Time. I reported it to the health department and corporate HQ. And if that wasn't fun enough, a manish looking female employee tried starting a fight with me as I was walking out. I've seen alot of terrible things at this taco time on state street. Including stuff employees do and gross stuff employees let homeless people do. The female employee, husky build, tall, with dark hair wearing makeup, had the nerve to start a fight with me. Steve is not the manager at this location anymore. And this Taco Time hasn't had a manager for a few years. I also noticed that it's okay for the employee's relatives and kids to run around and be bratty and noisy but if a customers kids run around or be noisy, the employees complain. Ridiculous. There are a plethora of taco options in this part of Salt Lake, 3 or 4 independent taco carts within a block of each other and then there is Taco Time. I love the taco carts and what menu items they have they do very well, but sometimes you just need what a brick and mortar store can handle, specifically a variety of choices packed for transport, a fast drive thru, and restroom facilities. That said, Taco Time does decent fast Americanized Mexican. I'm a personal fan of their crispy burritos (bean, beef, or chicken); these are basically crispy flautas. They also have good deals on daily specials. The staff have always been friendly and the restaurant has always been clean when I visited. Here I am in the Beehive State, Utah, specifically Salt Lake City and as a first timer passing through, I stopped by Taco Time (I love tacos lol). So I ordered a few plus one of their regular crispy tacos because dinner was slim last night. I enquired about their stuffed mexi-fries because they resemble tater tots and the clerk gave me a free small order to try with ranch. Well, I will say they are very good without the ranch dressing. They are stuffed with a dab of nacho cheese and minced jalapeños encased in a potato shell just like a tater. Man oh man, they are awesome. The tacos were good as well. Meat seasoned a little better than Del Taco but they don't offer (or at least I didn't see) the ground turkey option like Del Taco. Taco Time actually layer their tacos a little different than most joints. They put meat, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes whereas the cheese is normally on top of the lettuce. Anyway, it was still good as my first time being here. They both make Taco Bell look like child's play because they actually fill up the taco. read more

I used to drive to this location all the way from Kearns only because they were so good when it came to fast food tacos. But today's visit was one I shouldn't have made. The tacos barely had any meat in them. They were literally more lettuce than meat or cheese. The cheese mexi fries used to be in a small pile in a cup and today, just one layer and charged full price. And the "original" salsa used to have almost a thicker texture but today, it was runny as water with no flavor . Also, it's 2018 and to have just Coke products (coke and sprit) because the rest are like Mr Pibb, Hawaiian Punch and teas are seriously so long ago! I will give them credit for cleanliness because it was spotless in there and the customer service is great. But the food itself which is the main reason people go has drastically declined in terms of quality. I doubt they look or even acknowledge review but they should so they could hopefully improve their quality. read more

The cashier seemed high...gave me my order and said "you didn't want hot sauce, right?" I said, "no, I do" (not sure where he got that idea). Seemed really spacey and confused. My order was $6.47 so I gave him $20.47. He said, "I didn't have enough change so I just rounded up to $14." Clearly math was not his strong suit since that's what my change should have been in the first place. Super slow service and to top it all off, my son's quesadilla had mold on it. Of all the Mexican fast food that's out there the best one is hands down Taco Time. Dude the crisp meat and crisp bean and NOW the crisp Juan and unbeatable. And to top off any visit you must try the cinnamon crustos. There red sauce is great and it goes on top of everything you want it to. read more

I grew up in Utah eating at Taco Time locations all over the state, so I am a serious fan. Love the crisp pinto bean burrito, taco salads, and veggie burrito. The location on 8th South and State is absolutely the best of the best. Juan, the manager, goes above and beyond for our giant to-go orders and everything is always perfectly accurate. We love the current fish burrito offerings, but are fans of the classics. At this location, they have a great selection of sauces, ranch, casa and other sauces. Juan also told us that this location also delivers! We will try that next time for sure. read more

Taco Time is one of our favorite places to come when we come to visit family. I grew up eating Taco Time and my husband now loves it too. The problem we had with our most recent visit to this location (with a group of 20 family members that all met up here)...a man clearly having a drug induced episode was sitting in the lobby while going through this-not really what you like to see right before eating. Then he walks in the restaurant half dressed and stands in front of a table asking them to buy him food. The final straw of this visit and why I will NEVER be back is the drug NEEDLES in the bathroom garbage and also outside the restaurant in the rocks, around KIDS. Unacceptable. I enjoy Taco Time when I happen to travel some place that has one, about once a year. I look forward to returning to this location as the food was good and the customer service was fantastic. To me all Taco Time's feel old inside. Wish the company would support remodeling so they feel newer, cleaner inside. Aside from this, this has been my best Taco Time experience in a long time. My last experience in Bend, OR, the food was awful. While the food was good, I just can't say enough about the customer service at this location. I've never had such a pleasant experience at a Taco Time. Wished I'd gotten the cashiers name, may have been the manager. And the guy that handed me my order, from Washington State.
