    Old school since 1969 -JUN2026

Old school since 1969. I was in the area and was craving a hard shell taco but when I got there I changed my mind and ordered the deep fried bean & cheese burrito. It was busy for a Saturday and customers were getting a little impatient. If you are looking for a different twist on gringo style Mexican food this place is worth a visit and the prices are so reasonable. Plus they had t-shirts for sale so I had to buy one for 20 bucks.

I met one of my best friends at Taco Treat the other day. There was a Taco Treat by our high school, and we used to walk there for lunch almost every day. We loved their deep fried Bean & Cheese Burritos. We've met at this location a few times, but I never wrote a review. We ordered a Bean & Cheese Burrito and a Green Chile Burrito. We asked if they could cut each burrito in half so we could share. The Bean & Cheese Burrito was just as good as it was 40 years ago! We also really liked the Green Chile Burrito. They have two benches outside where you can sit. One table has an umbrella for shade. They are CASH ONLY! If you haven't been here, make sure to check them out if you are in the area. They are delicious!

Long before I knew what a chimichanga was Taco Treat was making their iconic fried burritos, bean and cheese, beef and bean and beef only. Their tacos are ground beef hard shell and fun to eat. I have been eating here as far back as I can remember, every night after a racing event at the original Irwindale Racetrack, we would meet to hang out and eat great food. My favorites are the Bean and Cheese burrito and tacos, they make great chile (a must have on a cold night) and if you want to make your own tacos at home they sell fried fresh daily taco shells by the half and full dozen. Their hot sauce is bold and tangy but not overly hot or spicy, just enough to complement the food. They are a cash only business and the nearest ATM is down the street at the supermarket...JB

The food here is phenomenal! We are obsessed with the tacos and burritos, be sure to ask for extra salsa as it is delicious as well! Prices are very fair, the food is made to order quickly, and the portions are generous. They have a small parking lot and a couple of benches for outside seating, also packaged well to go. I am so glad to see that old school places like this are still around, if I lived closer, I would be here all the time, highly recommended!

Taco Treat is one of those rare gems that's been holding it down for decades -- the kind of old-school spot that reminds you what real neighborhood food feels like. Tucked on the corner of Live Oak, this tiny walk-up stand has been serving up the same simple, delicious comfort food for generations, and it's still as good as ever. Everything about this place feels nostalgic -- from the hand-painted signs and "Cash Only" window to the smell of grilled burgers and fresh tortillas as you walk up. The bean & cheese burrito is a local favorite (simple but perfect), and the green chile burrito has that old-school SoCal flavor that's hard to find anymore. Their taco burger and chili cheese fries are next-level if you're craving something hearty. The prices are fair, the food portions are generous, and the service is always friendly and fast. It's the kind of place that hasn't changed much over the years -- and that's exactly what makes it special. If you grew up in the area, Taco Treat is part of your memories. And if you're new here, it's a piece of local history worth tasting. 74 E Live Oak Ave, Arcadia, CA Cash only -- bring bills! -try: Green Chile Burrito, Taco, Homemade salsa Basic but good for the price

One of the best bean burritos around. They are deep fried so of course that makes it even better. It's full of cheese so it's best eaten warm when the cheese is nice and gooey. We have also ordered the hamburger combo, tostada salad as well as onion rings. The onion rings were always a little too salty for me. The hamburger tasted good but the tostado for us was just ok. They only take cash. Plenty of parking and outdoor seating provide an opportunity to eat that warm burrito right away. No inside seating. Staff is friendly but the food takes a bit of time so be prepared.

You cant miss the Taco Treat sign and this one of a kind gem has the most delicious, deep fried burritos! It's small walk up window, and it's CASH ONLY. You place an order with the window, they make your order, you wait about 10-20 minutes, and they will call you by your order... and then you pay with the cashier. The bean and cheese burrito and their green chili burrito are flaky, flavorful and unforgettable. The burritos are deep fried, and they are my top favorite items here!! I grab one of each and fill up! The tacos are very simple - ground beef, lettuce, cheese. You can ask for a red salsa, it's good with everything! You can eat on site, at their picnic tables or take To-Go. They leave the bag open to preserve the freshness of the burritos, giving it that irresistibly chewy bite.

What I Ordered: -Fried Bean and Cheese Burrito $4.15 Pro Tip: There's a Special on Monday + Tuesdays where you can get a Bean Burrito for $3.80 or a Tostadas for $6.45. I've passed by Taco Treat several times and I finally had the opportunity to stop in for one of their famous Fried Bean and Cheese Burritos. I will be honest I'm not always a fan of a Bean and Cheese Burritos, but as they say frying something will make anything taste good. I won't be so harsh on the Bean and Cheese Burrito because it really hit the spot and blew away my expectations. They make them to order! Be prepared to wait awhile for your food especially when they're busy. Good things in life are worth the wait and Taco Treat's Fried Bean and Cheese Burrito is worth the wait! I loved how goey their cheese was (Obviously - I know). The Fried Bean and Cheese Burrito has a nice crunch to it. The red salsa wasn't overly spicy, but it had a nice peppery taste to it. I will definitely be back for one of those Fried Bean and Cheese Burritos! Taco Treat has converted me over to Bean and Cheese Burritos.

Ordered at the window, the lady who took our order was friendly and answered the questions we had. We ordered the chile verde burrito, that tasted good and was good ground beef. We liked the bean and cheese burrito a little more it has a good cheese pull. The taco shop has a couple benches to eat around that were clean and decent amount of parking available. It was a nice day outside not too hot, Taco Treat is cash only. So bring out the Benjamin's :)

Been coming here for years. Pick-up orders for me only. Can't beat the bean and cheese burritos (chimichangas), the tacos are good and I've had the tostadas huuuge. Definitely way better then Taco Lita. This my go-to spot for white people mexican food lol. Service is good and the food is fresh..

Wow! Bean and cheese burrito? You think you've had a good one. It's crunchy and perfect! I'm hooked and now have a guilty pleasure in Temple City. You have to taste to know, try it and you will want to turn your buds on to it. Great customer service and the food rocks !

Ask the Community - Taco Treat

    Do they have potato tacos?

No, I don't remember seeing those on the menu but you can ask to make them for you. Maybe they will.

Do they now accept debit/credit and Apple Pay?

    Cash only.

Do you cook with lard and deep fried burrito on lard?

I believe they deep fry it in oil. If that indeed, is what you are asking.

Is this the same business that was in So Pasadena with same name?

Yes it is the same as South Pasadena

The wait was long, but it was expected, and we weren't in any rush. The service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the chorizo con papas, which came with beans and handmade tortillas. Everything was amazing, and I can't wait to go back. Another reason for this post is to apologize and recognize the incredible staff. We ended up staying about an hour after closing because my friend and I hadn't seen each other in nearly two years. We got so caught up talking and reminiscing that we didn't even realize we were the only ones left in the restaurant. Not once did anyone ask us to leave or make us feel like we had overstayed our welcome. We know staying that long after closing is inconsiderate, and it was never our intention. We sincerely apologize for that. Thank you to the entire staff for your patience, kindness, and hospitality. We truly appreciate you giving us the time to catch up, and we'll definitely be back--for the amazing food and the exceptional service.

The margaritas were honestly some of the worst we've had -- they tasted like straight margarita mix blended with ice, and we could barely drink them. The enchiladas were also very underwhelming, especially for the price. It was basically shredded chicken in tortillas with sauce, rice, and beans, and for $20 it just wasn't worth it. The food tasted very Americanized and lacked authentic Mexican flavor and seasoning. That being said, the customer service was amazing. The two ladies who helped us were incredibly attentive, kind, and kept checking on us. They offered extra drinks and multiple items, which we normally appreciate because when we go to Mexican restaurants we usually order multiple rounds and end with Cadillac margaritas. Unfortunately, the drinks were so bad we didn't want to order anything else, but their effort and service did not go unnoticed. One small disappointment was when I asked for hot sauce to add more flavor to my green sauce enchiladas, and I was brought the same red enchilada sauce instead, which made the meal worse. I am a food and beverage manager myself, and I can honestly say I would hire those two servers in a heartbeat because they were fabulous. The service was excellent -- it's just the food and drinks that really need improvement.
