This is one of my favorite taco trucks in echo park! They definitely load up on the meat so you know it's a good deal. The cabeza and suadero are probably the best options here to me. Also they make the best mullitas, with a good ratio of cheese and meat. They also get the tortilla nice and crispy! The al pastor is good but I think Leo's is better. They have all the usual toppings and sauces you would expect, my favorite is the green sauce. The red one is good too but much spicier imo so be careful! Definitely check this place out after a night out, you won't regret it! They usually park either by Vons or the car wash across the street, and they open up around 6pm. read more

After a long night of dancing to 80s music at the Echoplex, we stumbled out and asked security to direct us to the closest taco truck. He kindly suggested that we head over to Taco Zone. When we got there, the truck was out of most meats. The only options left was pastor, chorizo, and carnitas. Didn't matter to me anyways as I was planning to get some pastor is my belly. It's one of LA's best kept secrets. Forget Kogi. This is what a true roach coach experience in LA is all about. Sometimes they run out of suadero meat, which seems to be the favorite here. Don't worry, just try something else and you'll probably enjoy it. I also find the tripe to delicious, along with the vegetarian burrito. Some complain that the meat is minced, but I argue that the flavor is still superior to that of other trucks in the neighboring area. Go ahead, give it a try, and be the judge. One taco won't cost you more than a buck-fifty. They're here till 2:00 a.m. and you'll find plenty of weirdos and hipsters swaggering around the Vons parking lot adjacent to the truck. I dont remember it being this good cause it wasn't a couple of years ago. They have since also reduced the taco price to $1.25 each. I would say that I have had my fair-share of Mulitas at more than a handful (maybe two handful's, shhhh) of taco trucks, and this one caught me by surprise. Had no intentions of coming to this place, but being in the area, and leaving it up to Yelp - I was pointed in the right directly. Praised for their asada, el pastor, and mulitas - I just had to grab one. (Dang IT, ok ok - two, lol). The size of them helped a lot. Sounds crazy, but the bigger Mulitas at other taco trucks usually just fall apart - flopping over and letting all the goodness out. These one are just a bit smaller, and grilled PERFECTLY with your cheese getting that fried-cheese-crunch around the edges. Hold on, let me say that again .... Fried-Cheese-CRUNCH ... heaven! The asada was tasty, not tough, and chopped perfectly. They had a good variety of salsa, ample amount of limes available and their Horchata was pretty dang decent as well. This truck has been my late-night, go-to for delicious, greasy, super-addicting Mexican food for years. While I am not a huge fan of their tacos, I can devour a burrito here at any time. (I love getting the carne asada burrito!) The suadero is tender and I can easily order the carne asada too. I think what helps the burrito tastes good is the seasoned rice inside. The mullita has also made me a happy camper when I got it. It is a meat of your choice with cheesiness oozing inside. The line of sauces and toppings are great with their food. My personal favorite is the creamy avocado sauce. I can douse that all over the tacos, burritos and mullitas and go to town with it! This is pretty much the best taco truck in the area. They make a amazing tacos with crispy, juicy meats that make my mouth water just thinking about them. My favorites are the chicken and the suadero (I'm usually an al pastor fan, but like the trucks that shave it off the spit). Just add onions, cilantro, a little green and red salsa, a squeeze of lime and you're good to go! The ladies that run the truck are super nice. There's plenty of parking in the Vons lot. There can be a wait late on weekends. They can also run out of some meats or salsa but it's still worth the wait in my opinion. I cannot believe how many times I've driven on Alvardo and never knew it was the home to TACO ZONE!! Last night, we approached the taco truck from the rear, oh that sounds bad already, but from the back it looked simple and nondescript. The time was around 10:30pm, police cars rolled up. Since we were not packing in the back, we were safe. So on this occassion, the presence of the fuzz could only one thing - this truck was about to bring it. And yes, she did bring it. I approached the truck with only one person in front to be greeted by the sweetest lady at the window who took the time to describe the meats to me and recommended her favorite the SUADERO!! My real like friend Kelly, lol, on this list, recommended the suadero mulitas. They went through my mouth and into my belly. I love things spicy so the red salsa did it for me but the avocado salsa verde is also incredibly delicious. I'm thinking about becoming a born-again vegan. The one thing I'll miss are simple and downright delicious get your grub on nights like this one complete with a hangover and leftover salsa the next day! I also sampled the quesadilla and burrito. IMHO I'd go for the mulitas still. I think what does it for me and the mulitas are the corn tortillas! Corn tortillas, cheese and meat of your choice. So we stopped by after a UCLA game for a late nite night snack This is what we ordered Tacos Chorizo- some said it was a little dry but I preferred the not super greasy version especially with a little green sauce... Good portion of meat Asada. I wasn't a fan of the asada it was not the usual chopped chunk version...not too sure how to describe it.. Will give it another try for the sake it but until then I'll pass Suadero. It was super moist, tender and flavorful... Great choice Al pastor.. Finally got to try out Taco Zone and I have to say that these are pretty good. Highland Park (and the Pasadena ones on Fair Oaks) still has them beat, but if you're too lazy to drive out there, this is good alternative. I got a good burn from piling on too much of the guac, but it was worth it. My favorite part about this truck was seeing all the different ppl grubbing around it - there was a big group of Asian girls, huddling in a circle out of coldness (or was it fear)..the skater boys parked on the ground by the curb..the college students out in search of cheap eats..and ppl like my friend and I..who just happened to be at a random Von's on a weeknight and noticed the truck. I'm so used to just grabbing my tacos and running back home (hey, gunshots and getting held up were the norm at my old place). But here, I can just kick back and enjoy my tacos in peace. =) Three stars for the food, five stars for the scene and the generous toppings, four stars overall. read more

Was looking for popular taco trucks near Dodger Stadium when I came across TacoZone. They were pretty packed with Dodger fans but the line moved pretty quick. Everything is made to order so expect to wait at least 10 mins. The ladies were working the truck are super friendly. The cook busts her ass in there. I personally gave the truck 5 stars since it Vegetarian and they make anything vegetarian for you. I ordered a Torta and they replaced the meat with rice. My one complaint about my food was that I think the cook was in a rush and just threw the cilantro on because it was all in one spot and very overwhelming. I reason I gave 3 stars is because of my boyfriends food. He said His Carne Asada tasted like dry shredded beef jerky. BUT the pastor is good. Saw on Yelp that their red salsa was life changing and I got very excited to try but it's not...their avocado salsa will deff change your life though.
