He was incredibly knowledgeable about the car and patiently answered all my questions and addressed all concerns. I'm the proud owner of a new 2-Door Mini S. I'm not completely satisfied and the service department isn't capable of understanding why. Be very careful,Tacoma Mini will overcharge their customers. Service reps are not trained or experienced enough to relay accurate information from the technician and don't understand estimating or doing business. They are primarily a scheduler. I'm disappointed with the whole experience. They tried to charge $95 to replace an oil fill cap, I was able to buy for $9 and install in 5 seconds. When I explained the economics to the service advisor she didn't understand why I viewed it unacceptable to charge me $50 for the part and 12min of labor. They tried to charge me $149 to replace the air filter. OEM filter costs $39 and takes 5 min to install at home. If I can perform these maintenance tasks more efficiently than an OEM dealer how can I trust anything they tell me??? read more

What happened to Tacoma Mini?! I've been going to Tacoma Mini for all of my Mini needs for 10+ years. When it was Northwest Mini, the service was unparalleled. When Justin took over as the service manager, service was phenomenal! From purchasing my two Minis, scheduling service appointments and service visits - service was OUTSTANDING. Justin always took care of me, made sure I got what I needed and followed up with me to make sure everything was taken care of. I appreciated his quick service and personal attention to detail; I always felt valued when I was there for service (no matter how big or small). The outstanding service was WHY I continued to pay astronomical prices for service on my cars. However, since the management changed, service has gone WAY downhill. Every time I call for service, I get someone on the phone not even in the state and they have no idea what they are doing. The only useful person there is Bert. But unfortunately, Bert can't do everything alone! Getting someone on the phone is excruciatingly painful. When I was there for my recent service appointment, I was asked to wait in my car in the service line until the service advisor could come get me. Talk about annoying! If I wanted to be treated like that, I would have bought a KIA! NOT paid an astronomical figure for my higher end Mini Countryman. Bert came out finally to tell me to come in and got me figured out but he was the only service advisor there for 8 other people waiting in the waiting area. Poor guy was hustling his tail off. There were 2 new faces there in the service department, hovering, making things somewhat awkward and uncomfortable. Quite irritating. And all the service pricing just went up again, almost double. Really folks?! If you want to keep high end customers, paying for higher end cars (and let me tell you, those repair costs are NOT cheap!), you need to continue to treat your customers with the white-glove service that Justin used to provide. NOT make us cogs in your expensive car wheel...It's unfortunate that the new managers don't seem to value their customers anymore. Very disappointing. read more

On the 4th of November, I drove to this dealership to purchase a pair of front and rear windshield wiper blades for my wife's Mini Clubman. A young man assisted me after I provided the last seven digits of the VIN. After returning home, I noticed that the rear wiper blade set did not fit. I called back and spoke to the same Parts representative and informed him that you sold me the wrong parts. I again provided him with the VIN number and he confirmed that he had pulled the wrong parts, which is annoying since I live in Burien and it is a 30 minute drive each way. I asked him if he could mail me the parts and I'll exchange at a later date. After taking my shipping information, he informed me that it would be a $25 dollar ship fee to mail the ~$50 wiper parts. I asked him to waive the fee because it was his error. Unfortunately, he was quiet on the phone and could not do anything because the Parts Manager was not there. Ultimately, I ended up driving back to the dealership due after attending another event in the area to exchange the parts. This time, there was difference in price of approximately $9+, which I paid, but was not happy. My gripe with this representatives is that all though he was apologetic for his mistake, not once did he display any empath for the additional 1-hour of my time and the gas to drive to the dealership twice to correct his mistake. If you are going to place people in customer-facing roles at a dealership they should a.) have better training on how to treat a customer and show empathy (e.g all I received was "I am sorry..." or "...I get it why you are upset and b.) be empowered to correct their mistakes, i.e., he could have swapped out the parts for even exchange instead of making an highly inconvenience customer pay +$9 more or shipped the parts and waived the shipping fee. Although I am not a Mini owner, I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone that is looking to buy a vehicle and especially it is NO on ever setting foot in this place to buy parts. I walked into NW Mini ready to purchase Mini #4. There were no salespeople in sight, with the exception of Mike in the back corner absolutely consumed by his computer. I opened and closed every door, pushed every button, and danced around the only Mini Countryman on the sales floor. Mike remained consumed by his computer. Buyer Beware. We did not like our experience here in looking for a used car. We are in the market to purchase an Audi S3. We worked with Noah. After seeing a vehicle on the internet and asking them for their best offer, they insisted on a $800 documentation fee. So disappointing. As an FYI, they install a Lojack security device to every vehicle. Which is nice for them as it makes a significant difference in their insurance costs. But, this gets added to your price, which is not noted in their ads. At $895 plus tax, this adds nearly $1,000 to the price. Between the Lojack and documentation fee, they want nearly $2,000 additional dollars for their vehicles. I know dealers have to deal with people that play games all the time. But we were clear, we know what we want and we are ready to buy and pay cash. We expected a different experience given we are real buyers and that this dealership is part of the BMW brand and other other experiences with the BMW have been so positive. read more

When this place was Northwest Mini, the service was unparalleled. From purchasing my mini, to scheduling service appointments, and service visits- the service was outstanding. However, since the ownership changed, service has gone way downhill. Every time I call for an appointment, I speak with people who have no idea what they are doing. For example, I was connected to someone in San Diego who said all the service advisors in Tacoma were speaking with customers and I couldn't be transferred except when I called the Tacoma service department 30 seconds later they said they are available and weren't busy. Also, every time I call the Tacoma service department they have no idea about my warranty and seem annoyed when I try to make a service appointment. When I talked with the manager of the new owners BMW Seattle, the response was essentially that is the spec MINI has. When I stated, I didn't even have the bottle of "fix it", his response was ... yeah those get lost all the time. I think any reasonable person would assume a 1 year old vehicle would have reasonable safety equipment included. We took the car to this dealership to have them go through the car. They did an amazing job! They worked with us on putting the most important items first, like safety. Then moved forward as needed. The list was unfortunately very long. The staff was wonderful to work with always. From the receptionist over the phone, to the greeter at the counter and the service writers. So I spoiled myself and got my dream car. Hate me if you must but damn it I'm young and living life to my consumer most. I am wasting my youth and damn it goes fast with a super charger. However, I didn't actually buy my car here because from the research I did I thought their used cars where a little overpriced. It is a dealership that specializes in one car so I guess they charge more because that is just what specialized businesses with trendy in-demand products do. I talked to the sales people there before I bought my car and they were super friendly, knowledgeable and low pressure. Apparently, most of the business comes to them- go figure. The guy I talked to drives a mini himself and even helped his mom and his aunt get one. I mean if I had to be a car salesman, working at this place would be at the top of my list. I could race Minis in between having tea time with all the Microsoft employees and Capital Hill hipsters that would buy truck loads of cars. Sweet! Unfortunately, only a Mini dealership can service and work on a Mini- I don't know why, something about Britain, parts, computer, blah blah. I got my car serviced here and the whole process went super smooth. I had my dogs with me that day and they totally let them run around the showroom while I waited for my car. They have free wifi while I waited so I did work while I was there. Oh and they have a complementary selection of tea which I thought was hilarious in a dry British sort of way. Of course it was hidden behind the Starbucks coffee because this is Seattle after all. After my car was done I was feeling partially vain and bought myself some Mini plates. I couldn't decide between the "Lets Motor" or just "Mini" not to mention which color. No one got an attitude with me for being an impractical anal consumer (they must be used to it I guess...I'm sure richer more annoying people than me buy Minis). In fact a warehouse guy let me test which plate I liked best and then installed them for me. It made me feel like a movie star and that feeling is just plain worth it. I got mix experience from this place. I got took care very nicely when bought a new car. When it's become service after you buy? Depends on your luck. I took the car for oil changed and pay $500+ it was ok untill they asking me to buy extended warranty plan to save money for the future. Sure why not! Another $3,500 out of my pocket. Came back to get another oil change again they told me it was cover only parts but not oil change. I guess I wasn't get to be clear when I paid $3,500. Nevermind I pay for $580 again for that. It was my fault for not to be clear. I went to service at 10am and same day at 1pm,they email me a coupon for 15% off maintenance including oil change and everything (no mentioned this deal while I'm there). I live in Portland and love owning a Mini. I was looking to buy a new one. The local dealer would not offer the full amount of incentives that Mini was offering. I went through Costco and was directed to Terry Soumis , at Northwest Mini in Tacoma. Tacoma is not right next door to Portland, so I waited for an opportunity when I was in the area to visit. Terry had kept in touch during this time and I stopped in after visiting a friend in the Seattle area to see what they had to offer. Having been a previous Mini owner, I was pretty sure of what I wanted (there are so many options) and Terry was very helpful. His practical knowledge of Minis is a huge plus. He also was able to get all of the incentives that Mini was offering for me. We were able to come up with an a Mini with the features I wanted and I filled out some paperwork so I would be prequalified when I was ready to order. I vacillated between different levels of Minis (again, so many options) and Terry was very patient and helpful during this time. I finally nailed down the order and we put the order in (which i then changed twice). Terry kept me informed with the ongoing build and delivery information of my Mini. When It finally arrived, my wife and I decided to make it a bit of an adventure and take the train to Tacoma. It was quite enjoyable and Terry had us picked up at the train station. Our Mini was waiting on the showroom floor. A very nice touch. We filled out all of the paperwork and got in our new Mini to drive home. We noticed an issue with the Mini. We went back and talked to Terry and he could not get it resolved right away, but arranged to get it done for us in Portland. We drove home and a few days latter it was fixed and we have not had an issue since. It was a pleasant and enjoyable buying experience. I could spend hours talking about Minis with Terry, but he has to sell cars to others too. It was not a hardship to buy from Northwest Mini from Portland. It was fun to have a road trip be the first driving experience with the mini. I would definitely do it again and highly recommend them. I did learn that there is was only a 3 day trip permit available, so be prepared to either get a 21 day permit from the Oregon DMV or arrange it so the paperwork is sent to the DMV of your choice which they overnighted. I went for the extra trip permit so I would not be rushed. read more

I bought a 1 year old used Mini from here. I was talked into getting the extended warranty. The guy told me that all maintenance was covered including oil changes. He talked about scenarios that would be covered like curry spilled on the heated seats, free cabin air filters, washer fluids etc. How could I not? Well, when I went to take it in for its first oil change they told me maintenance wasn't covered. They went ahead and did complimentary once. A few months later the car was making a growling noise. We took it down and they couldn't find anything wrong. Days later it was getting worse and the check engine light came on. My husband topped off the oil, but couldn't get the dip stick back in. We had it towed down to the dealership where they diagnosed the chain guard to be broken. It was a hassle to get them to cover the repair. We got it back and it was still growling. They kept it for a few more days. They didn't even offer a loaner car. I ended up selling the car last month. Sad because I loved the looks and size of it. It was simply one of the easiest and best car purchasing experiences that I have had. I've owned a MINI for four years and wanted to get a Countryman. After the experience at Northwest MINI I'll never purchase another MINI. 1. They are now charging a standard $500 over sticker over all new models. Every single one. I was told that isn't a MARKUP, but rather it's for floor mats and a special paint sealant. But it's a markup. You can buy floor mats on Amazon for $80 (they should be thrown in when you purchase the car), and the worst possible thing you can EVER EVER do to a new car is to give it a wax. Modern automotive paint will out last the car itself. This isn't the 60's anymore where you need paint "protection". When asked about this markup I was told that dealers in California charge $2000 over sticker while they're only overcharging $500. HA! 2. I attended one of their "events" for "special pricing". Even though the car was brand new and previous years model, they were offering it at a savings of $250 off the sticker price. Don't bother attending any of their events. 3. There was a $500 incentive (through MINI, not the dealership) currently available on the model I was looking at. The salesperson never even informed me about it. I was bummed since the Countryman seems like a great car and was ready to buy that day. Disappointed to see a MINI dealership go the way of a Chevy dealership of the 80s read more

From my first visit and test drive, through the picking out/designing of my personal Mini Cooper Clubman, to the online-monitoring of my MINI's progress to getting to me, and to the final day when I picked up my new hoopty. Tomio was the salesperson I worked with throughout. His role with my car-buying experience was such a big part about why I love my MINI-Buying Experience. When I picked up my MINI, we ended up taking about 2-hours to finally drive off, but it wasn't that bad. One of my favorite experiences was the "unveiling" of my new MINI. As we were ready to finally see my new MINI (after 2-months of being built and delivery), we were walked to a room with a covered MINI in it.....It was my new car. So cool! God knows that I don't need a new car (considering I'm now a frequent rider of the Sound Transit Express bus to work), and there's nothing wrong with my other car (minus the blemish of a scratch that the significant other put on the bumper when he backed into a car parked on the street). But in a moment of weakness, I did it. An old co-worker gave me the name of her friend at Mini, and shortly thereafter, I was plopping down my $500 deposit on a new Mini. My sales guy, Aaron S was great - I highly recommend him. He was always quick to return my calls and emails and great about communicating any updates on the car (i.e. when it went into production, when it would arrive, etc.). He also sent along paperwork to secure financing ahead of time and promptly scheduled a time for me to pick up my car once it arrived. Everything went incredibly smoothly. Unlike most car buying experiences, Aaron went over all the little details of the car. We must have been there for 2 hours just going over the little things (i.e. the light switch that allows me to change the color of the interior ambient lights). We were also for another very pleasant surprise when we took possession of the car - the Finance Manager, Diane, was able to get us a better rate than had been quoted by Mini Financial Services since my credit score had gone up since the time I had filled in my finance application! I highly recommend Northwest Mini for all your Mini needs. Several others that I have spoken too all have had great experience working with their staff. The staff is just very attentive. I know that most people think "well of course they're attentive, they rely on commissions." I have been to plenty of dealerships where customer service had been very lacking. I was surprised that the service here was so good because they are the only Mini dealer in Washington and given the popularity of the cars, business comes to them - they don't really have a big incentive to provide the high level of customer service that they do. Five stars for five reasons... ready? 1: Will. The first person I met at Northwest MINI. I used the Costco website to contact the dealership, and Will called me within an hour. He set up an appointment and was able to see me that afternoon. He was a great introduction into my car buying experience. Granted, I did not buy my car at this time, but he provided a wonderful foundation, which led me to return to the dealership in a few weeks, where I met reason number two. 2: Brad. Unfortunately, when I returned to the dealership Will was busy, luckily for me, Brad was available. Brad took me on a zippy test drive and I fell in love... with the MINI, of course. He then proceeded to explain every option to me in detail. Lease or buy? Black or white? Cooper or S? Options, options, options... Give a girl more than one choice and she is going to have questions, and I had tons! I'm sure he was annoyed, but he never acted it. He was patient and put me at ease. 3. Diane. She's the finance manager, and she is great. Again, like everyone else at NW MINI, she is full of answers! Also, she is quite magical with numbers. Thanks, Diane! 4. Enough name dropping, let's talk about the place in general... Pet friendly? Check! Clean? Check! Inviting environment? Check! Good snacks? (let's be honest, it matters) Check! Aesthetically appealing? Check! Unpretentious? Check! 5. Lastly, my experience was so pleasant, that I can't seem to stop going back to NW MINI. Every time I stop by to say hi, I am greeted by friendly faces (Hillary and Tim... dang, name dropping again), asked how I have been, and am given a genuine interest in my MINI.
