Staff was rude, they do not greet customers when walking in & only give you 2 minutes to look through the menu. Food was okay the rice and beans were pretty good though. I've tried coming a few times and it's always the same thing, i see servers giving good service to those who look like they'd tip good. Never have i came in and had to go up front to order myself which was new especially for it being a dine in. I've been to this place three times now and out of all three times I would say I had one good experience here. The food is ok,I've always gotten the asada quesadilla. Once I will say I enjoyed it because it was packing flavor but on the other hand it was really greasy. My other two times including this visit it was bland. It didn't take too long for the food to come but orders were coming out of order. Open from 8am to 12am (next day), everyday. This popular taco joint and mariscos restaurant is part of a small local chain that is developing a cult following. Bernie Sanders, for example, made a pit stop here during his presidential campaign last year. Word of mouth also led to come here. The menu consists mostly of tacos, burritos and tostadas with your choice of meats, desayuno (breakfast) plates, marisco (seafood) dishes, as well as meat and combination platters. All the menu items I have tried so far are good to very good. I thought the chicken enchiladas were on point. Juicy, modestly seasoned shredded chicken wrapped in moist, thick but soft and chewy corn tortilla shells with a zesty chili and tomato sauce. It is a dish I would order again and recommend to others. Obviously, the tacos are very good too. Juicy, full-flavored meat choices including asada (beef steak), pollo (chicken), suadero (mixed pork), adobado (marinated pork) and tripas (intestines). There does not seem to be a bad meat choice. The tripas, in particular, are a must-try: fried extra crispy, juicy, crunchy. The caldo de pollo (chicken soup) is what really what made me a fan of this place. A rich, garlicky, deeply flavored broth prepared with chicken breasts and drumsticks, carrots, potatoes, zucchini, chayote (a must), and white onion. Served with warm flour tortillas and a side of Spanish rice. A complete, hearty and very satisfying meal even on a warm summer afternoon. The chile verde is good, just not great. I liked the tanginess of the tomatillos in the sauce. I felt the stew could have been better if there was more of the smoky essence of the roasted chili peppers. Served with moist, piping hot tortillas - which is a must! I was also bit disappointed I did not get more meat for a dish that cost me $14. Finally, the mixta tostada. A surprisingly hearty meal of mixed (mixta) of sliced octopus, shrimp, imitation crab, red onions, cucumbers, avocado slices, diced tomatoes and cilantro with lime wedges on homemade corn tortilla shells. Between this or ceviche, I will eventually always order one at a mariscos (Spanish for seafood) restaurant upon repeat visits. Good but I did not love it. It is better if you add generous dabs of Tapito sauce and ketchup to it. Full disclosure: I have never been a huge fan of seafood prepared in this fashion. Friendly service, really good Mexican food, reasonably priced, open all-day. It might be a good idea to check on your order if you have waited more than 15 minutes. Communication and organization between taking orders and food preparation is unfortunately not their strength. read more

Not a bad place for Mexican eats in Fresno, but not my favorite. Compared to another Mexican restaurant we ate at in Fresno, this one fell short. But it wasn't bad. Plus, being from the Seattle area, we're desperate for Mexican food. We were heading to another Mexican restaurant that we had searched and found through Yelp, but it was only until we arrived that we learned it was take-out only. We wanted to have a nice dinner somewhere before flying back home, so saw Tacos & Mariscos Tijuana just down the street from where were were. So with time dwindling down until our flight, we decided to dine here. The restaurant is very large, with ample parking. We came here on a Monday in the late afternoon and there were many patrons dining inside. Despite that, there were a ton of tables open, so we were able to be seated immediately. As the name suggests, they are known for their tacos and seafood. I decided to go for a seafood dish since it's harder to find Mexican restaurants with a lot of seafood options in Seattle. The menu had a long list of different shrimp entrees, filets of fish, ceviches, etc, in addition to classic Mexican entrees. My partner ordered the carne asada while I had the garlic and mushroom shrimp platter. My garlic and mushroom shrimp plate included rice, beans, veggies and corn tortillas on the side. With everything that was going on with the plate, I didn't need the tortillas and thought it was best without. The shrimp was a good size, but sadly, there were only six shrimps. Garlic chunks were spread throughout with the mushrooms, which was nice. The veggies with were kind of odd, as there were steamed broccoli, carrots, iceberg lettuce, tomato and onion. All in all, it was an A-OK dish. Yet, it's not something I'd recommend. Again, this was not a bad restaurant, as there were some tasty items, but I didn't think it was outstanding. Authentic Mexican. Got the carne asada fries which came with heaping of meat, tomatoes, refried beans, onions, some guac and sour cream. Also got 3 tacos of asada, adodo pork and lingua. Also comes with cilantro and onions if desired. The seasoning on the meats could be more but with salsa and sauce from the bar added the flavors. Companion got the burrito which was good with meat, rice and beans. Jicama juice was sweet but balanced well with the food. Man this place has really gone downhill! This used to be the spot a few years back with cheap and delicious tacos, but it's not the same. The waitress was totally emotionless and lacked any type of personality. I ordered carne asada fries and normally when you get pico de gallo it's a good mix of stuff, this was just ALL chunks of onion. Some people like that? I don't. Flavor was good, but something was lacking. My boyfriend ordered a Chile verde burrito, at 10 dollars you'd expect it to be decent sized but it was small. Hardly any chicken in it, not to mention the chicken was way over cooked. Ordered two tacos to share as well, those were good but not worth 2.50 a piece. I am happy to announce that this is my 400th review. Anywho, I came to Tacos & Mariscos Tijuana with my dude for a low key dinner date on 06/16/2019. My dude informed me that this place was THE place Bernie Sanders dined at. I came here once with one of my Fresno State buddies as we needed to find food sponsors for our volunteering events which was in 2015. During which i didn't get to try the food as my team went with another sponsor. Anywho, I was wanting to have a drink. However this place does not have any alcoholic beverages. So we opted for Horchata. Which was delicious! It was tasty and you can tell it was the real deal not the fake powered kind. The staff was kind and friendly. I got the chicken quesadilla and the dude got tacos with beans and rice. They also have a block of Queso Fresco which is like my favorite cheese. This place has ample seating for all groups. They have complimentary beans, salsas and rashes along with other stuff. The tacos were delicious very flavorful along with the beans and rice which was yummy too. The green salsa is always my favorites. Like I love tacos and Mexican food however this is not the best I have had but it was good and I am glad I had the opportunity to try it. I am looking forward to trying the other options as they looked good. Once again we managed to beat the dinner rush as this place filled up so quick for dinner. With all the surrounding competitors, it has become easy to put this place on the back burner to get your taco fix. Tacos Tijuana has and will always be one of my favorite taco joints because of the delicious and unforgettable Al Pastor. The building itself is a bit grimy, but most places that look sketchy have wonderful food.....I guess it's the price you pay for a tastebud adventure. And they never add it, they charge me extra and never give me what I pay for,I'm sick and tired of always paying more for no reason. Last night will be the last time I will ever spend money there, after I asked them twice before taking my food with me if they added both rice and beans because the burrito I get normally only comes with potatoes and beans they both looked at my face and said yes, after calling them and telling them they messed up again, they told me to come back tomorrow and they would give me my money back, fast forward the next day I come to get my money back and the lady only wanted to give me 1.20 back, keep in mind I paid 22 dollars for a burrito. I remember as a kid watching the scene from The Karate Kid II where Daniel-san was complaining to Mr. Miyagi because his mom's company had relocated her to Fresno and he would have to spend the whole summer there. I mean, why is there an apostrophe in Tacos? Moreover, the frontage sign stated that the restaurant is "Tacos, Tijuana". As I wandered into the restaurant, I realized that I was literally the only chino up in the place... which is always a great sign. I thought it was self-serve but a server brings the salsa to you. Definitely ask for the guac salsa! The suadero tacos were dry, the carne asada tacos were good, and the tripas taco was amazing. I love the shrimp tacos here. $3 a taco is pretty up there but I enjoy the shrimp ones. Their asada is flavorful. Adobada is a little on the salty side. Their wet burritos are delicious. I also enjoy their shrimp cocktail. I always ask to cut the shrimp and they are always able to do that for me. Their chile and guac sauces are on point. The guac sometimes isn't as thick as when they usually make it but for the most part it's usually on point. The service is ehh. You order your food and wait for your number to be called whether it's for dine in or carry out. The other location on Belmont is a sit down where servers take your order. The place is always usually clean. It gets pretty busy at peak hours and weekends so they do keep up with cleaning after those who have just finished eating to accommodate to those tho just ordered their food and are waiting for a table to sit at. read more

They messed up our order & it's not the first time they charge us for something and we don't get what we pay for . Place was fire back in the day, they had all the fixings that you wanted to add, they no longer have the beans and the pico, the tacos are okay still, not bad, Just under-seasoned. The asada fires were better but since it's called tacos Tijuana i mean cmon man keep the tacos as the star. Overall just whatever tacos, wouldn't go out of my way for them and would no longer pay 2.50 per taco, taco truck ones are better and they're 1.75. Very disappointed. I come here very often and this last time i just did not feel the customer service was there. I ordered over the phone and arrived 5min early so I placed another order for shrimp ceviche tostada which is normally preparado so I was thinking an extra 5-10min wait....no, at least 3-5 people came in and ordered after me and majority received their orders before me. So while my tacos were sitting cold as I waited for a prepared dish apparently they completely forgot about my order when it was placed well before. The food is still good here. I like the shredded chicken tacos. I don't eat here frequently because it is a bit out of the way for me unless I'm in the area. They recently opened a new location on Blackstone that's full service sit down/ take out versus the casual atmosphere of this location. It's probably been a few to several months since I was last here and I noticed some changes that made this place much more casual than before. You still order from the front counter like before, but they have a brand new digital menu display. They also rearranged a few things like the salsa bar and switched from Coca-Cola to Pepsi. There used to be a couple of women servers who would give tables chips and salsa and deliver food orders. Now you pick up your order directly from the cook at the counter and get your own chips and salsa. Wasn't sure about chips until I saw other people grab pre-scooped containers of chips from a container on the counter. The cook calls out the order numbers and you pick up your food. Luckily I know enough Spanish to know he said 42. I'm sure this small change saves them money and I don't have a problem with it. Just slightly confusing from a repeat customer. read more

This place wins the award of the most disgusting place I have eaten at in a few years. Usually I walk out when I see filth but because we were meeting someone there and this was their suggestion we were stuck. First there were dirty tables every where piled with plates and if there were no plates the table had food crumbs and smears. Second there are a lot of tables crammed in there so walking in past the tables and guests is like walking thru a gauntlet. Third, the DISGUSTING flies EVERYWHERE. You had to cover you plate and drink with a napkin. Fourth, the cashier did not know anything. Me: can I have a veggie burrito? Cashier: has to go ask ( answer is yes) Me: do you have carnitas? Cashier: has to go check ( answer is yes) I wanted to ask if they really worked there since they didn't know the menu or the current state of what was being served. They asked me if I wanted my salsa in the burrito or on the side . I said Side but of course they got that wrong. Food comes out in a decent amount of time or maybe I was just busy fighting flies. ( Hey that should be the motto, " No waiting for food, time flies as you fight flies!") My burrito is all rice and pico de gallo inside. Yeah. The pico de Gallo was full of onions so I could not really eat it without knocking out my table companions. So I ate a little as to not to appear rude. My husband 's pollo asado tacos were pitiful. They were the saddest looking things because the chicken was cubed so much and so tiny so they could give you the appearance that there was something on the corn tortilla. Honestly, this place is good, i won't be dishonest. Is it clean, of course not, sketchy area, definitely. The service on the other hand is awful, from the cooks to the waitress staff. I would've loved to leave a decent star review but the fact that the staff is rude, don't greet you upon entry, and leave you waiting to get service for almost 15 minutes while they stand in the back laughing and talking with the cooks. Even food trucks greet you as soon as they see you walk up.
