    The truck
    Monica M.

It was a drizzly evening after dance practice the other day and we were hungry - but not for the usual drive thru fast food. On recommendation and with plans to eat n' chill we came here. Apparently this food truck has been here for 20+ years - maybe longer and it has a following, as evidenced by the crowded lines, full parking lot, and full tables. That said, don't let this deter you - service is quick and the food is GOOOOOD! I ordered a combined total of 14 tacos with all the fixings - a generous topping of cilantro, onions, a few slices of pepino and limes, and fresh salsa. The owners make additional condiments available: green salsa, red salsa, salt packets, and pickled veggies at the counter. If you know to do so, you can get cebollitas and a chili on the side as well. Be warned the tacos are old school small - no bigger than the palm of your hand. Truly I was satisfied with the first three I ate, but I got two more because the flavors were so good. Drinks are limited to aguas frescas. I had agua de Jamaica - super good! Of course the true barometer of this place was my kids - between the two of them they ate 5 tacos and wanted more, but....portion control. We have added this to our growing roster of places to eat after dance practice and can't wait to come back.

When you're in Los Angeles and you're on the hunt for some of the best Mexican food, I highly recommend going where the locals go and this in East LA! And over the past few decades, I have been one to find some of the best food from the mobile trucks. This takes me to the Boyle Heights neighborhood where I had the opportunity in trying out "Tacos El Pecas". Located at the corner of S. Soto St./7th St. and just off of the 5 freeway, this place has been feeding hungry people for the past few decades. I arrived here during the night of Friday 7/26/2024 at around 9:30pm. Parking can be a bit of a challenge as there are very limited spots right near the truck. I also wanted to add that you are right next to a self-serve car wash so ideally, you can wash your vehicle before or after getting your food. The truck itself is painted a bright sky blue complete with a mural of the Virgin Mary, a church, the name of the business, and of course a menu of everything the offer. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with any updates. Since I came here specifically for tacos, I ended up ordering (2) Carne Asada tacos and (2) Pastor tacos. I completed my order with an iced cold Horchata drink. Total price for everything was a shockingly low $9 for everything (as of mid-2024). So if you're on a very tight budget and wish to get filled up for a very low price, this is the place to come. Keep in mind that this is a cash-only business. Service was quick as it only took them about 5 minutes to make my tacos. And if you wish eating your food there, there is also a shareable bench directly to the right of the truck. Now comes the taste test... One bite of the Pastor and I was blown away with the flavor, seasonings, and spices that are presented. The Carne Asada (although not as flavorful as the Pastor) were delicious and packed with meat. These tacos included the standard onions, cilantro, lime and sliced radishes but also sliced cucumbers. I opted for both red and green salsas to make every single bite come to life. The next time I visit this place, I want to try more of their meats and even opt for a burrito and quesadilla. There are dozens upon dozens of Mexican food trucks in LA and hundreds of Mexican restaurants in LA. And narrowing down just a few good places can be more difficult than you might think. But I will say that "Tacos El Pecas" is good, damn good if you're on the hunt for that no-frills cheap and delicious Mexican food that you can enjoy on a budget. My rating, a unanimous five stars. And as Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegger has said on numerous occasions, "I'll Be Back".

Tacos are tiny (like two bites), but so delicious!! Cash only. Accepted Zelle for us. We got 2 tacos, burrito, cebolla/jalapeño (so delicious), piña juice for $10. Love that this place is still affordable. Ambiance? They park at a car wash so there is tons of parking options at night. There is also ample street parking. The cashier was very friendly and accommodating. Service was fast. I thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely return.

I visit this taco spot very frequently, maybe one a week . Prices are pretty decent. Service is fast. Cash only and parking can be a little tight since it's located next to a car wash. Usually I take my tacos to go or eat them in my car . Ambiance is great for after the bar kinda night .

    Lengua, pastor, suadero tacos

Heard lots of good thing about Tacos El Pecas, but not all were true unfortunately. The service part is true, in the sense that all the staff is really nice and welcoming. The food comes out fairly fast, so even when you're starving, you won't have to wait too long for your food to be ready. As for the food, I tried tacos of almost all of their meats: asada, pastor, suadero, and lengua. Out of these, the pastor and lengua were my favorite. I have to say that their pastor is not one of the best I've had, but I'd recommend going with this if you're trying out Tacos El Pecas for the first time. The seasoning was not up to par with my favorites'. I really liked their lengua. It was nicely chewy and meaty. I'm not the biggest fan of carne asada when ordering tacos, and this spot did not change my mind about it. Their suadero was the most disappointing about my visit unfortunately. It was a bit dry, and the meat did not even look like the suadero I'm used to. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a mistake on the type of meat. Their tacos are $1.50 and are pretty small as other reviews mention. They do have a salsa bar, and one of the biggest highlights is that they also give you grilled onions and jalapeño upon request. Huge plus for me for any taqueria to have add-ons such as this at no additional fee! Make sure you bring cash as they don't accept credit card!

I first learned about Tacos El Pecas from this YouTube video called "Inside Chicano Culture - East LA" (https://youtu.be/Be3kNAbl1Eg). When I saw one of local cops getting tacos here, I immediately knew this is a legit & popular taco truck. Each taco is $1.50 and one burrito is $6. All taco and/or burrito orders come with complimentary roasted onion and jalapeños. The taco truck is sharing territory with a self-serve car wash station with few available parking spots. Meat options: Asada (grilled steak), pastor (grilled pork), cabeza (beef cheek), suadero (beef brisket), chorizo (pork sausage), lengua (beef tongue), tripa (cow intestines). *** Carne Asada & Al Pastor Tacos ($1.50 each): I do think tacos were somewhat mediocre (probably due to no avocado & no pineapple for al pastor taco) comparing with other taco trucks like Leo's Tacos Truck & portion was somewhat small. In fact I wasn't feeling full and vowed to come back here for 2nd time because my friend bragged about how good his burrito tasted. Al Pastor Burrito ($6): Burrito tasted flavorful even without any green sauce with a slightly spicy kick. The portion was just right so I definitely highly recommend this selection. *** Average tacos, but great value for al pastor burrito & roasted onion was surprisingly good.

After a long trip I stopped by to El Pecas and did not disappoint! Customer service is great, fast and friendly. Their tacos are a bit small but meats are full of flavor and their salsas are so good too.

Want to have dinner for 5 dollars? This is the place to be! Tacos are very small but tasty. Each taco is $1.00 and you should order about 5-6 tacos to get full or somewhat full. The line to order tacos Friday-Sunday could be pretty long BUT these taqueros are quick, they will have your order ready in 5 mins. You are allowed to park at the car wash parking lot and usually a security is guiding you on where to park and taking care of the vehicles. They only have aguas frescas, pineapple and horchata. They do not sell sodas, bring your own. Eat your tacos standing or in your car. They do not have seating available. Pastor is really popular! Enjoy!

    Taylor Z.

Wow! All the tacos here were excellent (yes we tried them all). I loved that they put radish on the side to cleanse your pallet and each of their meats were seasoned perfectly. The best part? Its super cheap at such highly flavor packed tacos. It can't get any better, come hungry.

Definitely a hidden gem The hook the tacos up. 8 different kinds of meats to try. Friendly staff and they have a couple of other vendors on the lot selling deserts, chapurrado, pan dulce and fruits. It's very easy to miss if you driving. I really enjoyed

We had so many guests come up to us during and after the wedding (even months later) saying the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding. Everything from the passed apps to the mains, desserts, and late night food was amazing. Food is a huge priority for us, and we wanted to make damn sure that our wedding food delivered, especially since so many of our friends and family know us as major foodies. We loved Hungry Bear's asian-fusion menu and even the salad was unreal (and I'm not a salad girl...get the Little Gem Salad y'all - it's both beautiful and delicious). We had opted for family style and had hangar steak and miso black cod for the mains (but seriously, you cannot go wrong with any of their choices) and a late night pho station. I'm salivating just reminiscing about the food. The drinks were just as good (feel free to reach out to the team with your favorite flavors/ spirit to brainstorm drink ideas or even give them a specific recipe). I opted for a yuzu gin cocktail as my signature drink, which was delightfully refreshing and very well made. On top of that, the service was next-level. The waiters and bartenders were all very kind, funny, and professional. The team made sure my husband and I were constantly taken care of--full water glasses, plates of food, cocktails, everything. One of my best friend has celiac disease, and a staff member came up and told her she was personally "in charge of her" for the night. She was blown away. I was blown away -- especially since we had our wedding at a "bring your everything" venue where everything was brought in to build a "kitchen" - Hungry Bear made sure that food safety/ cross-contamination was a non-issue. Amazing food, amazing drinks, and genuinely kind, fun, and professional servers and bartenders. Jennie, TJ, and the Hungry Bear team truly go above and beyond. We're already asking ourselves when we can have Hungry Bear cater our next event. Look no further and book your tasting today (trust me, and good luck narrowing down the tasting selections)! Highly, highly recommend.
