Some of the best street tacos I've had in a while. As a current college student in the OC area I can't really find any great taco spots that are open late. The service here was great and it was very quick and efficient for us to get our food. The portions were awesome and the condiments were great. Unfortunately, the staff is not cleaning up after their customers and there is trash being left behind. The strawberry stand is not a part of their business and their customers eat their food on the strawberry stand counter and don't clean up and neither do the staff. Staff was asked to clean up and told the strawberry stand staff, it wasn't their problem. Very inconsiderate. We have dealt with finding the taco trash in front of our home. There is really nothing you can do about that. Bad neighbors. But the staff should be cleaning up the stand and local business area there. Whenever I am craving tacos, this is the location i always go for. The Al Pastor and Carne Asada Tacos are my go-to's and are some of the best. As for some other options like the Mulitas, I am not a fan of the thick, soft texture at this stand compared to others. I felt they were quite dry and less flavorful. I've visited this location many times and they have a menu of items and are always well-stocked unlike other stands. The workers and speed are great as well. They open around 5pm and are typically there until 2am, the latest opening stand I know of. The location is sometimes unfortunate due to the sewage drain nearby, so on some days the smell is not great. Other than that, it's your typical stand. read more

I had Tacos Lionydas bookmarked for a while, and finally decided to try it out. While it's not on Google Maps, the address on Yelp will take you to the right intersection where the tent is set up. Since it's only open at night, the adjacent parking lot serves as parking space. The menu is actually fairly extensive, and if you order tacos, they come as the standard smaller size street tacos ($2 per taco). There is a trompo for pastor, served with pineapple. Condiments and salsas are self-serve on the side, and there are also aguas frescas for sale. I ended up ordering four tacos (asada, tripa, cabeza, and pastor), plus a lengua torta. The tacos were all tasty, I loved the flavor of the pastor and the fattiness of the cabeza, as well as the crispiness of the tripa. The torta was a decent size and yummy as well. Service was fine, I used Spanish but I think they can communicate in English to some extent. I paid cash but some other Yelpers have mentioned they also take Zelle. Overall, a solid and definitely authentic taqueria in Long Beach! Nice to have another option close to home. read more

I wanted to love it but found it just average. First the good... the value is outstanding as everything is generous in size. While the line is long it moves very quickly. They have a self-serve salsa bar with a variety of salsas and accompaniments that you bag yourself. The service is fast and friendly, and they don't use a tablet check-out that fishes for tips (my personal pet peeve!) However, I found the al pastor that everyone raves about just okay. Not bad, but not super tasty either. Simply put, I've had better at other taco stands. Also the carne asada was tasty but had some chewy, inedible bits that I had to spit out. So this stand offers great value but the taste and flavor was just average. I guess I was expecting more considering how long the lines are. This corner is super dark, I don't know why this location is the selected location for this taco stand but who knows, ordinarily I wouldn't even consider it but since the LB Post wrote an article about this spot we went. There was a good size line, probably from the LB Post article that claimed that this is one of the best pastor stands around. I'll stop right there and tell you it's not. Not the best pastor in Long Beach, not even close. The chicken and asada were better than I expected but I was disappointed with the pastor after the LB Post hyped it up. Just a tip too, figure out what your order should cost while you're in line. For a while I was going to other taco spots around the traffic circle when I drove by this taco spot one night. Ever since I tried them I have chosen to go here because its so good! The highlight is of course the tacos al pastor! They of course have other meats for tacos. The carne asada is a second favorite here. They have many sauces for you to grab yourself. The line can get long late at night on the weekend so watch out for that. Tuesdays the tacos are $1.50 for the al pastor so the line will be down the block. This spot Is always worth it. Awesome stand on the side of the road. From what i can remember their meat selection was: chicken, carne asada, pastor, lengua, chorizo. All the meat tastes fresh and not fatty at all. They have various salsas and cucumbers and radishes on the side. They of course also have limes, onions, and cilantro on the side. The employees are very attentive and prepare your order right away. I'm not sure if it's dependent on when you come but when I came around 6 the Al pastor is thinly sliced and crispy. When I came late night the Al pastor is cut more thick. Both time did got tacos. But anyway it's an outdoor stand. I liked the asada, pastor, pollo, and chorizo tacos. Pastor mulit was a little greasy. I'll get a different meat next time. Burrito is kinda nice because they throw the meat, rice, beans, onions and cilantro on the grill a bit before rolling it all up. Payment is through cash or Zelle. Set up on the southeast corner of Clark and Atherton six nights a week, Tacos Lionydas has, hands down, the best al pastor I think I have ever had. They often have a considerable line that goes past the corner, but the line moves fast. Like I mentioned above, the al pastor is def the way to go here. While it's a little greasy, it's super flavorful and perfectly spiced. The carne asada is also a solid choice too, not too chewy with a smoky mesquite flavor. My hubby and my favorites by far are the mulitas -- the tortillas are pleasantly dense, have an excellent texture, and taste super fresh to me. And the cheese crisp from the overflowed cheese on the griddle, drool. The salsas are pretty tasty as well; the creamy green salsa is sooooooo good, and their salsa roja is smoky and tangy with a nice hit of heat. Definitely recommend checking them out! read more

The biggest draw of a corner taco stand (and this one is no exception) is the tempting savory smells of grease and meat cooking. This particular one has grown and continues to grow in popularity with long steady lines throughout the evening. There are no tables and chairs for dining. Parking is available. They offer a variety of meats seasoned well--I enjoy the chicken (the Youngest likes the chorizo) but I believe all the meats are good and just depends on your own preference or mood. You choose your own toppings, including raw onions, cilantro, and various salsas. Individual tacos are relatively inexpensive, but keep in mind, they're small so you'll need to get several to feel satiated (or maybe we're just volume eaters. Ha! Ha!). They also offer burritos (The Huz has had one) and possibly other things so just ask if you're in the mood for something other than tacos. :-) Long Beach doesn't necessarily have a lot of these types of taco stands, so it's fun to check it out, patronize and have a fun eating adventure. :-) read more

I live right next to this place and had notice them pop up a couple of months ago. I would continuously drive by and it seemed to get more and more popular! Figured we had to try it out. The tacos are a steal at only $2 each! Very tasty too. They have an awesome salsa bar set up along with onions, cilantro, radishes and cucumber. My friend got a burrito which she said was good and I got an all cheese quesadilla which was stuffed full with delicious cheesy goodness!! We will be back! They are open until midnight so that's a plus when a late night craving hits. ;-) read more

These are my absolute favorite tacos now. And for $2 a piece! Before Tacos Lionel it was hard to find al pastor on the level of Leo's Tacos in LA. However, the trompo here has the al pastor with the perfect seasoning, a nice crispiness, and it's not drowning in achiote paste like you may find at other spots. In addition, their carne asada has this marinade that just lights up the corners of your cheeks when you bite into it. And THEN the chorizo has this beautiful herbiness--I think it's oregano that I tasted--that I've NEVER experienced in a chorizo before. And then I ordered a carne asada mulita just to try it out and the cheese + tortilla combo lit my mouth up it was so damn flavorful. Even the jamaica drink was banging. It was like a 32-ounce cup for $5 and it tasted so damn perfect....not too sweet, a little flowery....perfectly balanced. This is hands-down my new favorite spot. My boyfriend told me this place is really good and I was excited to try it! We came around 10 and there was a bit of a line. One of the meat-masters was doing everything, cooking meat, tending the al pastor, and wrapping up burritos it was a fantastic show! The line does move a little slow though, so bring some patience and your wallet. The tacos here are more expensive, at around $2.50 but they load it up with meats. I got a $9 lengua burrito (with cheese) and it was so good! I requested no beans, but they forgot but it was still delicious.
