The location and atmosphere are fantastic, but the kitchen simply didn't deliver. The Fried Green Tomatoes lacked the crisp texture you'd expect from such a classic appetizer. My daughter's 8 oz. filet had virtually no seasoning and tasted surprisingly bland, especially considering the price. I ordered the Wedge Salad with fried chicken, and the chicken suffered from the exact same issue--it was nothing more than fried protein with absolutely no flavor. The biggest letdown, however, was the salad dressing. At this price point, I expect a restaurant to serve a fresh, house-made dressing. Instead, it tasted like something poured straight from a jar. A great wedge salad deserves a dressing that complements it, not one that feels like an afterthought. Harry T's certainly has the views and the location, but great scenery can't make up for under-seasoned food and shortcuts in the kitchen. There are too many excellent restaurants in Destin to settle for an average meal. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you're hoping for food that matches the price tag.

We also got the shrimp and grits and red snapper as our entrees. Both were flavorful but the red snapper won me over; cooked perfectly in a risotto. We had the bread pudding for dessert, some of the best I've ever had. Our server was knowledgeable about the fish and the busboy was on it with refilling our water. This place is pricey but comparatively to other seafood restaurants, the price is a little more and the quality was better.

After spending most of our days eating at the themed surf restaurants that decorate with shark heads, surfboards and tiki lights. We had hoped this would be a change, it's really not. It may not be grossly decorated with those tiki-style items, but most certainly is that same type of restaurant. It's not elegant, it's not elevated and its most certainly, not relaxing. The food was very good, the service from our waitress, Savannah was mediocre. She seemed bored or maybe having a bad night and was doing her best to cover it with a smile. We ate up at the skybar which does have a very lovely view. The high-top table and chairs are uncomfortable. My wife and I had to come off the chairs to stand next to the table for a few moments because the chairs were so uncomfortable. As far as their food goes, I had the shrimp tacos. They were made with very fresh tasting ingredients and the shrimp wasdelicious. At least the 2 pieces per taco they came with. Most of what was in the taco was just the filling. $22.00 for two tacos I expected more shrimp. My wife's Grouper Moreno and the conch fritter appetizer were both delicious. Dessert was the salted caramel cheesecake which was good, but ridiculously sweet (as you'd expect it to be) Overall, the food was very good though the tacos could have included more shrimp then they did. The service was just okay. The restaurant itself is nice, but not the quiet relaxing place it looks like on their website. It's just another surf themed style restaurant, without all the gaudy decorations.

We were on a stay cation and heard from everyone this is the new hotspot on the Destin Harbor. We saw some of the reviews but we decided to check it out for ourselves. The place was very well appointed. The food portions were big. I asked if they serve fresh LOCAL seafood and they said yes. They showed us where they buy their fish from Harbor Docks as this is posted with all the restaurants who buy from them-Nice feature. The service was pretty good for being a new place. We didn't drink that visit but they have a lot of beer on tap and a craft beer selection. We asked them about a review we read about the lack of beers and they told us their beer system was down when they first opened, but the kinks were worked out and everything is working. So we'll have to come back on this.... Overall a great, clean place with good food. read more

Left AJs because our server was swamped in a section way too big for 1 person. Came to Tailfins and walked in street level, couldn't find a hostess. Walk through middle and to the upper deck without seeing a hostess or employee period. Sat ourselves at an upper deck table and finally after being passed by a server several times the bartender, Clay came from around the bar to greet us, bring menus and take our order with precision, quickness and a great vibe that we'll remember for a long time. As a local Clay is the kind of person well come back to a restaurant for. We have all of destin as an option and without people like him to provide the service he did, Tailfins would be blacklisted in our minds and as well all know...bad news travels. Thanks Clay! My friend and I had a wonderful lunch today. Holly was our server and she was very attentive and upbeat. I had the oyster po boy and asked for a twist. I requested they put it on a pretzel roll. The manager delivered our food with a trio of sauces for me to try. Their take on fries was great. perfectly seasoned hot potato discs. My friend had the crab cakes. I usually do not order crab cakes when dining out as they always pale in comparison to the ones that my grandmother made. These were fantastic! Full of lump crab with just the right amount of "cake". Further they were large enough that she ate one and took the other home for another meal tonight. The view was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed environment. Whatever you do don't rent a boat from this place. their online price was $295 for 4 hours which is already pretty high but after we get there and everyone gets loaded up on the boat they call my mom back into the restaurant to pay when she was gone for more than 10 minutes i knew something was wrong she came back out to the boat upset because they changed the price from $295 to $430. supposedly because it's a holiday weekend. Well shouldn't that price have been posted on their website? I don't think they care about the customers satisfaction at all and it was well planned on their part waiting until everyone was already loaded onto the boat with all of our stuff before telling her the price had changed what a rip off. read more

We're kind of skeptical at first because of the reviews... As a business owner I had to try it out for myself. Yelp reviews don't always showcase the food, atmosphere, service, quality, price...etc. I give this place 5 stars and my family if 7 also agree. Great service. Food was awesome. Ambiance was super fun and friendly. Great variety and reasonable prices for the quality. Our Server Veronica. was very prompt, had great menu knowledge and an awesome personality. Bartender Mike was super cool. Very informative. Even mentioned the live entertainment later tonight. Would recommend and for sure visit again. Thumbs up guys. Boat rental prices are not to be trusted when making a reservation online. We booked a pontoon boat a few days prior to our rental slot for a price of $295. We arrived with our party and loaded everything up. About 15 minutes into our allotted rental time, we get called back to pay for the rental. As we are paying, we are then told that the price was now $430. The only reason given was that it was now a holiday weekend, nevermind the fact that we reserved at $295 and put a $65 deposit on the agreed upon $295. Dishonest business and no apology for jacking up the rates. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Tailfins Destin is so much fun. Fantastic entertainment. We love Rusty on Wednesday and Friday evenings. He plays with his back to the water, so the view watching him, the boats, and the sunset is just awesome. BT Turner follows, and he is a great entertainer as well. Food is very good.... try the Firecracker shrimp or shrimp ceviche. Both are terrific, as is the fish dip. AND, if you are lucky enough to be there on the days that Ashley is serving, ask for her. She is personable, efficient, and pays attention to your table with refills. We always have fun at Tailfins. read more

The hangover burrito and Bloody Marys at Tailfins Waterfront Grill are excellent. The omelette is great too. We have been out on the tiki hut boats twice this year, once in May with Captain Murray and again in September with Captain Al. Both captains were awesome and made the tiki hut boat experience to Crab Island really fun. The staff at Tailfins is always great. We love sitting on the back porch at breakfast and supper time. The nightlife on the back deck is always a good time too. This is one of our favorite places every time we go to Destin. read more

We've lived in this area for over twenty years and have gone to nearly every restaurant in Destin, Navarre, and Pensacola. Without a doubt Tail Fins is the worst place we have ever been. I would give the food a 2 out of 5 (calamari appetizer was okay but those of us who ordered the mahi with stuffed crab was way over cooked) but the service and attitude of the entire staff was horrible. Our server could have cared less about us and seemed offended every time we needed something. Do not waste your hard earned money on this place! read more

We hosted our work conference here on the top deck. "Wow what a great place" is what everyone said. It was a casual but very nice place. The service was great. We had seafood platters for our party as a recommendation and they were big and fresh. The bathrooms were clean too. They had live music which played a mix of things the entertained everyone. But I would suggest the band starting at 7:00 instead of 8. We had a great time...especially for a work conference! read more

Awesome view and good taste in background music helped the setting. We were seated upstairs with a great view and we were high enough to feel cool but enjoy a warm breeze. Kung Pao wings were delicious and Mahi Fish Taco Tuesday special was satisfying. My friends and I rented a boat NOT on July 4th on Saturday July 1st, your dockhand said the boat is "brand new but the radio doesnt work but it might if you wiggle this wire" So a brand new boat and no radio, not only was the radio an issue the price of the rental that was charged was almost double wat was quoted to me!!! They don't have a long wait for a reason. Don't waste your time or your money. Over priced plates and not anything special. Nice view. I guess service was just okay. We had shrimp platter, plate of ribs, and a calamari appetizer for $19.95 that was in a piece of paper cone (enough for one person maybe two) and not even a sauce. Our meal was $80.00 for 2 people. And I wouldn't even give it a Joe's Crab Shack experience which is pretty sad. Will not return. read more

I normally don't write reviews but I have a very good reason to do one since the overall experience I had was exceptional. Sat down for lunch and spoke to Jacob who made us feel at home and had us laughing. The view from every angle is a picture taker... I walked in to pick up a To Go order and was met with a gaint Desantis sign on the wall of the restaurant. Instant indigestion! I guess I should be thankful to have the heads up on where an establishment stands so I can make an informed decision as to who gets my money. Still, it would be nice to have a meal that doesn't come with political choking hazards. Good for those who support that side of the political spectrum. One less place for me to enjoy. read more

I have to say this is my favorite spot on the harbor. The staff was very friendly and helpful the whole time I was there. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Best thing on the menu and crab claws are to die for. After my dinner at captain moodys bar I went up to the top floor and enjoyed the band and what I feel are the best djs in town. The cocktails took great care of me. Best view on the harbor. A must stop when in destin. read more

As a Local this is one of my favorite places on the Harbor to eat. Great Food and friendly people. They added a Sushi bar February 1, 2021 and they have an amazing Sushi Chef, Steve. I'm now here once a week for the Sushi. My favorite regular roll is the Rainbow roll and the Destin Signature roll is a work of art that is pleasing to the pallet as the eyes. They also have lots of fun tropical adult beverages and they have a bar out front so if you do have to wait for a table, you do not have to wait for a drink! Our server took care of our party of 8-4 kids and 4 adults--masterfully, never getting flustered by my screaming toddler or our many and varied requests. Great job to him. Also the kids meals are served on a frisbee you can take home--a fun little souvenir. Like I said, this place is a classic and a must go at least once while in the area. The coconut cake is also delicious!

It was the last night of our vacation and we wanted seafood and specifically a crab boil. We got seated right away and Kyle came over to introduce himself, he was very kind and personable. We started asking about the appetizers and he recommended the charbroiled oysters which were great. I asked if they were spicy and he said no. Then he came back to take our orders a bit later. I asked if the crab boil was spicy and the others ordered. I ended up ordering the crab boil. When he brought my food over he said, "I hope it is okay but I asked them to put the broth in a separate boil in case you felt it was too spicy. Ive included a large melted butter and lemon instead." I almost cried. I didn't tell him but I have stage 4 cancer and it has created many issues with being able to eat. I hate to be a pest so I just ask if things are spicy and find something else if my server says yes. He had just listened to my questioning and thought something may be happening so he came up with a perfect solution. I never told him I had cancer, just thanked him so much but my family and I were emotional because I haven't had a decent meal out because everything seems spicy in the year I've been fighting this. When we received the bill, it seemed higher than expected. Upon asking for clarification, we were told there was an 8% "packaging fee," which exceeded the local tax. This charge was not itemized as a packaging fee on the receipt--only listed as "8%"--and there was no explanation provided. Since it had been a long day and our order was already prepared, we chose to proceed with the purchase. What concerned us most was that this fee was neither disclosed on the website nor mentioned when we placed our order. We only became aware of it after questioning the total. Greater transparency would have been appreciated. If such charges were clearly communicated in advance, customers could make informed decisions. While we understand that restaurants operate with tight margins, unexpected fees leave a negative impression and ultimately influenced our decision not to return. We have enjoyed the food in the past, but at this price point, we would likely explore other options that we feel offer better overall value.
